Why Noah, Job, and Daniel? Testing the Whole World; Judge Us; The Path For Us

Noah, Job, and Daniel were all pressed at times, but they endured. If they are our examples of people being delivered due to their faith and righteousness, then what can we learn from them? They weren’t perfect, but they were righteous. Ezekiel was living in captivity in Babylon when he had the visions of the Cherubim and Ophanim taking away the glory of the Lord, and the angels marking those who mourned for the temple. Ezekiel continues to prophesy so that the people would understand what was to come. Ezekiel tells us that from this point on, people are responsible for their own sins. Parents are not responsible for their children’s sins, children are not responsible for their parents’ sins, and only the righteous are saved. With this in mind, Ezekiel is explaining that even if Noah, Job, and Daniel are in the middle of Jerusalem while Jerusalem falls, they would still be saved by their own righteousness. This is the example that other writers use to explain that Yahweh will deliver the righteous out of destruction. We are to know and understand this because Jesus explains that those who do not deny his name and who guard his word with endurance will be delivered from the testing that will come upon the whole world. Jesus also gives us a prayer that we should pray to thwart evil attacks. We can pray like David did as well with imprecations, but David also asked to be judged. We can learn to subdue an enemy attack. Let’s explore.

Eze 14:14  And though these three men should be in the midst of it, Noe, and Daniel, and Job, they alone should be delivered by their righteousness, saith the Lord.

Noah lived in an isolated community. He lived on a mountain with the heirs of Seth. The heirs of Seth were called “children of God” because they worshipped continually, unlike the watchers who sinned. However, many people left the mountain and went down to see what life was like with the heirs of Cain. Once they left they could not return to the mountain top. Within this time Noah saw the numbers of people decrease to just his family. Yet Noah still worshipped and fasted. Once Methuselah died then the flood came. Noah had faith that they would be saved, and this is what makes Noah righteous.

Job was not an heir of Jacob, but of Esau. He was rich and had a very enjoyable life. He served Yahweh in the manner that Abraham had taught and he had a hedge around him because of his faith. Jacob’s heirs were “special” because Jacob spent thirty seven years serving in the tents of the Lord, with Shem and Eber. While Esau did not live as faithfully to Yahweh, his children and grandchildren did. As we know, it was the heirs of Esau that helped Moses learn about Yahweh. Job was righteous even when the devil attacked everything, including Job’s own body. Job never cursed Yahweh. However Job learned that imprecations of power and his own right hand could deliver him from the attack that he underwent.

Daniel was a victim of the sins of his forefathers starting with Hezekiah. Daniel was taken captive, castrated, and forced to serve in Babylon. Yet Daniel stayed faithful to Yahweh even under constant threat of death by an evil king. Daniel grew up in the palace of the kings of Israel, and had access to extensive knowledge of the prophecies, yet in Babylon he had to rely on a personal relationship with Yahweh to prophesy to the Babylonian kings.

https://musingsofawinsomeheart.blogspot.com/2021/08/daniels-faith-our-part-gods-part-cyrus.html

All three men had a personal relationship with Yahweh. All three men continued in their personal relationship with Yahweh through the difficult times. Think about it: Noah and family on a boat with no land in sight for forty days; Job losing his wealth, family, and his own health; Daniel being kidnaped, castrated, and forced to enlighten the kings of Babylon; they all suffered hard times. One could say that their faith was tried and tested. They stayed faithful in the midst of hard times. God is not testing us. The devil is testing us. The devil is proving us. The devil is trying to make us fall. Yahweh is not testing us. Yahweh did not test Noah, Noah did what Yahweh said and was saved. The devil corrupted all of humanity and the angels sinned. Noah did not fall for the devil’s temptations. Yahweh did not test Job, the devil did. Yahweh did not test Daniel, Daniel was a victim of the devil testing his ancestors and their failure to stand against the devil.

Throughout history there have always been a ‘set apart’, or chosen, group of people for Yahweh such as Seth’s heirs living on the mountain, Noah regenerating humanity upon the earth, Abraham’s heirs multiplying on the earth, the people of the captivity returning to Judah, Christians sharing the good news of Jesus, the pre-tribulation harpazo, the one hundred and forty four thousand harpazo’d mid tribulation, and the people surviving the tribulation period unmarked. It is the strength of those people who have struggled that we remember. We are in the time period of the catching away of the saints, the saints who will come back with Jesus at the end of the tribulation. We may die before we are caught up, but both the dead and the living are harpazo’d together. The devil is the one pressuring humanity in many different ways and the one lying about Yahweh. Why? Because we are in the generation of the harpazo. He doesn’t want people being caught up (living or dead) before the tribulation. The devil will pressure as many people as he can to deny their Lord, Jesus.

We can do a few things during hard times. One is to never waver in our faith, thereby withstanding and resisting the devil. The other is to use imprecations as Job was told and as David did. Another thing we can do is pray the way that Jesus told us to. David also had an interesting way to avoid persecution, he asked to be judged. The prize for the devil is to make us fall. This is why there are many hardships and temptations. We are tested by the devil and like Job our own right hand can save us.

1Pe 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1Pe 1:4  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

1Pe 1:5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1Pe 1:7  That the trial (G1383) of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

1Pe 1:8  Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

1Pe 1:9  Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

1) the proving

2) that by which something is tried or proved, a test

The proving of our faith is like is a trial of fire. We love Him even though we have not physically seen him. We do not live in the time period when Jesus lived and walked upon earth. However we see him spiritually, in our heart and we believe on Him. The end of our faith is the salvation of our souls. Just like Noah, Job, and Daniel, we have to walk through the fire. What would Noah have done otherwise, jumped overboard? What would Job have done otherwise, renounced all the previous blessings that he had received from Yahweh? What would Daniel have done otherwise, give false prophecies to the Babylonian kings so that he would have been killed? What else do we have to do? We just keep walking, no matter the fire.

Psalm 12:6 G3588 The G3051 oracles G2962 of the lord G3051 [2oracles G53 1 are pure]; G694 as silver G4448 tried in fire, G1383 proved G3588 in the G1093 earth, G2511 being purified G2035.5 seven-fold.

The words of Yahweh are pure words. Just like precious metals that are melted to skim off the impurities, Yahweh’s words are pure. While we have had to go through a fire, so did Yahweh’s words. Therefore, we can trust his words; all of his words, not just the ones that we like. How about the word harpazo? If Yahweh’s words have been purified by fire, then Yahweh’s words are true and trustworthy.

It is alright to fall into various tests, trials, and temptations. It is alright to come under attack, afflictions, and troubles from the devil. Yahweh is not throwing trials your way, the devil is. It does not mean that something is wrong with you, it means that something is right with you. Stand in faith.

James 1:3 G1097 knowing G3754 that G3588 the G1383 proving G1473 [3of yours G3588 1of the G4102 2belief] G2716 manufactures G5281 endurance;

The proving of our faith creates endurance and brings perfection. Like Noah, Job, and Daniel, we probably didn’t do anything wrong. However we are being made more perfect and complete with every trial. We are becoming more righteous. Jesus was tested too.

Luke 4:13 G2532 And G4931 [3having completed G3956 4all G3986 5 the test G3588 1the G1228 2devil], G868 left G575 from G1473 him G891 until G2540 an occasion.

Jesus completed his test from the devil. The devil tried to get Jesus to walk away from his Father. Jesus resisted. Jesus gave us a prayer that we should consider praying.

Matthew 6:13 And lead (bring) us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Let’s look at a previous study on the Lord’s prayer.

πειρασμός

peirasmos pi-ras-mos' From G3985; a putting to proof (by experiment [of good], experience [of evil], solicitation, discipline or provocation); by implication adversity KJV Usage: temptation, X try.

We are to ask not to be brought into a test, a trial, or a temptation. As we studied Job, Abraham, and Isaac recently we recognize that the devil is always trying to prove that we are going to fail. Remember, the devil sports with us. The devil is always attempting to experiment with us to see what will make us fall. Here is the key. If we ask not to be led into provocation, the Father will oblige. If we don’t ask, the devil may ask to make proof of us. If we ask not to be tested first, the devil will not be allowed to test us. Simple and easy.

One word of caution here. If we are foolish and do things that are sinful, we put ourselves in the devil’s hands. Hardship then is due to us not living rightly, as compared to the devil picking on us. While sins are not based on cause and effect, if we drive a car while intoxicated and we injure ourselves or others, then the effect of our bad decisions is solely on us. The devil may not be asking to sift us like wheat, we may simply be foolish, Luke 22:31. Be wise.

πονηρός

ponēros pon-ay-ros' From a derivative of G4192; hurtful, that is, evil (properly in effect or influence, and thus differing from G2556, which refers rather to essential character, as well as from G4550, which indicates degeneracy from original virtue); figuratively calamitous; also (passively) ill, that is, diseased; but especially (morally) culpable, that is, derelict, vicious, facinorous; neuter (singular) mischief, malice, or (plural) guilt; masculine (singular) the devil, or (plural) sinners KJV Usage: bad, evil, grievous, harm, lewd, malicious, wicked (-ness). See also G4191.

4192 πόνος

ponos pon'-os From the base of G3993; toil, that is, (by implication) anguish KJV Usage: pain.

We are to ask: “rescue us away from evil”. It seems Westcott and Hort added the idea that we are to be rescued from an evil being, rather than all evil. The word “one” does not appear in the text, therefore this was Westcott and Hort’s personal opinion. Ponēros derives from ponos, anguish, toil, travail, distress. This is a physical rescue, like rescuing baby Moses from the Nile or rescuing David from Saul. Almighty Most High Eternal Father, rescue me away from all evil.

This is broadly speaking, “all evil”. We need to be delivered from all evil and that is what we are to ask of our Father. “All evil” includes evil spiritual beings, evil people, evil situations, and evil temptations. Rescue us from those whose hearts are irretrievably severed and intentionally scheme to harm us. Rescue us from demons. Rescue us from the fallen sons of God. Rescue us from the god of this world, the devil. Rescue us from the incorporeal satan, the one transforming into an angel of light. Rescue us from evil governments. Rescue us from religious persecutions. Rescue us from false prophets and false Christian leaders. We could go on and on, but Jesus is trying to keep our prayers short for our benefit.

We could read The Lord’s Prayer this way:

Almighty Most High Eternal Father, Holy, Holy Holy is Your Name. Your kingdom shall come to earth. I invite Your will to be done on this earth as it is in the heavens. Give me sufficient food for the day. Write off my debts. I write off the debts of others. Do not let me be tested. Do not let the devil experiment with me or sport with me. Rescue me away from evil. Through You is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever, amen.

Notice what Jesus tells the disciples.

Matthew 26:40 And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and He said to Peter, What! Are you so utterly unable to stay awake and keep watch with Me for one hour?

41 All of you must keep awake (give strict attention, be cautious and active) and watch and pray, that you may not come into temptation (G2986). The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

The Amplified Bible. (1987). (Mt 26:40–41). La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.

The disciples are such a great example to us. They were in a very difficult time, knowing that Jesus was going to be killed. They were so overwhelmed with stress that all they could do was sleep. Jesus says “watch and pray”. They were to pray for themselves not to come into temptation. Pray not to be tempted. The Spirit is willing. The Spirit will take on the devil, the Spirit will overcome tests and trials of the devil, but the flesh is weak. The flesh may not be able to resist, therefore, pray not to be tempted.

1 Corinthians 10:13 G3986 A test G1473 [3you G3756 1has not G2983 2taken] G1508 except G442 what belongs to a human; G4103 [3is trustworthy G1161 1but G3588   G2316 2God], G3739 who G3756 will not G1439 allow G1473 you G3985 to be tested G5228 above G3739 what G1410 you are able; G235 but G4160 will make G4862 with G3588 the G3986 test G2532 also G3588 the G1545 way out, G3588   G1410 [2to be able G1473 1for you] G5297 to endure.

There is nothing new under the sun. There are no new tests. The Elohim is trustworthy. The Elohim will make a way out of the test so that you will be able to endure. What if the way out is using imprecations? David used imprecations many times. But David also suggests that Yahweh judge him. That is bold. Most of us want to hide from Yahweh rather than call on Yahweh to judge us, but David understood that Yahweh is a righteous judge.

 Psalm 26: 0 G5568 A psalm G3588 to G* David.

  1 G2919 Judge G1473 me, G2962 O lord! G3754 for G1473 I G1722 [2in G171.1 3my innocence G1473   G4198 1went], G2532 and G1909 [2upon G3588 3the G2962 4 lord G1679 1hoping]. G3766.2 In no way G770 should I weaken.

  2 G1381 Try G1473 me, G2962 O lord, G2532 and G3985 test G1473 me! G4448 Set on fire G3588   G3510 my kidneys G1473   G2532 and G3588   G2588 my heart! G1473

David wants to be judged in the courts of heaven. Why? Because there is no reason for an attack against him. Therefore he thwarts an attack by the devil with a cry for being judged. When we read through this Psalm we find out that there are are lawless unjust people behaving wickedly. David calls for his own judgment so that he is separated from the devil’s condemnation of those evil people. David is not persecuted with the wicked.

Paul now explains something similar to what James wrote. Because we are righteous through our faith in the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, we stand in grace.

Romans 5:1 G1344 Having been justified G3767 then G1537 of G4102 belief, G1515 [2peace G2192 1we have] G4314 towards G3588   G2316 God G1223 through G3588   G2962 our Lord G1473   G* Jesus G5547 Christ,

  2 G1223 through G3739 whom G2532 also G3588   G4318 [2access G2192 1we have] G3588 to the G4102 belief G1519 in G3588   G5484 this favor G3778   G1722 in G3739 which G2476 we stand G2532 and G2744 boast G1909 upon G1680 in hope G3588 of the G1391 glory G3588   G2316 of God.

  3 G3756 [2not G3440 3only that G1161 1And], G235 but G2532 also G2744 we boast G1722 in G3588 the G2347 afflictions, G1492 knowing G3754 that G3588 the G2347 affliction G5281 [2endurance G2716 1manufactures];

  4 G3588 and the G1161   G5281 endurance G1382 proof; G3588 and the G1161   G1382 proof G1680 hope;

  5 G3588 and the G1161   G1680 hope G3756 does not shame; G2617   G3754 for G3588 the G26 love G3588   G2316 of God G1632 has been poured out G1722 in G3588   G2588 our hearts G1473   G1223 through G4151 [2spirit G39 1holy], G3588 of the one G1325 having been given G1473 to us.

We boast, or brag, about our afflictions because we know that through the devil’s afflictions we learn endurance, testing, and hope. There are always two types of people in the churches. One type who walk into church sullen and depressed saying “oh the devil is attacking me again”, as they walk by with their head down. Well, being in church is a good start, but that attitude is incorrect. We are supposed to be bragging about being attacked, like the second type of person. The second type of person skips into church, merrily, saying “ the devil tried to attack me but I knocked him into last Tuesday”, as they smile and joyfully skip on by. Yes brag about it. Like Paul, list all the hardships you endured. None of us have ever been thrown to lions, or shipwrecked, spending two days in the water. Laugh about it and realize that you can come out of it faster if you want to. We ask Yahweh to judge us and then imprecate the devil. We also pray as Jesus suggested, by asking “Do not let me be tested. Do not let the devil experiment with me or sport with me. Rescue me away from evil.” We do this every day.

Jesus told us that there was one church, the church of Philadelphia, that would be kept from the hour of testing. Why? Because they guarded the logos of Jesus with endurance and patience, not denying His name.

Revelation 3:8 G1492 I know G1473 your G3588   G2041 works. G2400 Behold, G1325 I have put G1799 before G1473 you G2374 a door G455 being opened, G3739 which G3762 no one G1410 is able G2808 to lock G1473 it; G3754 for G3397 [2a little G2192 1you have] G1411 power, G2532 and G5083 you gave heed to G1473 my G3588   G3056 word, G2532 and G3756 denied not G720   G3588   G3686 my name. G1473

Revelation 3:10 G3754 for G5083 you kept G3588 the G3056 word G3588     G5281 of my endurance, G1473   G2504 and I G1473 will keep you G5083  G1537 from G3588 the G5610 hour G3588 of the G3986 test, G3588 of the one G3195 about G2064 to come G1909 upon G3588 the G3611 [2world G3650 1entire], G3985 to test G3588 the ones G2730 dwelling G1909 upon G3588 the G1093 earth.

The example for all of us is to guard the words of Jesus, be patient, and do not deny Him. This is how the overcomers who do this, miss the testing of the entire world. The church who endures, is told that they miss the tribulation. This is where we want to be. We do not want to fail the test. The Philadelphia church had people in it from the synagogue of Satanas who called themselves Jews. We all have people in our church who are not there as Christians, but are there as an assignment from Satanas to cause us to deny Jesus. There is no surprise here. Ever since the internet was created people started to hack Christian sites with pornography. People would get in Christian chat rooms and disrupt everyone. Satanas’ hackers work diligently for him. There is no new test. Jezebel had a bed of fornication in one church, and we have that today as well. However, the righteous are saved by faith, harpazo’d before the tribulation. It may seem like difficult times, but this is not the tribulation. It may be practice from the church of Satanas for the tribulation, but it is not the tribulation.

There will be an even harder time on the earth for those who are left to live in the tribulation. Those people will be left on the earth due to their own lack of faith and will suffer a terrible time. Daniel explains.

Daniel 12:1 AND AT that time [of the end] Michael shall arise, the great [angelic] prince who defends and has charge of your [Daniel’s] people. And there shall be a time of trouble, straitness, and distress such as never was since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the Book [of God’s plan for His own].

2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake: some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt and abhorrence. [John 5:29.]

3 And the teachers and those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness (to uprightness and right standing with God) [shall give forth light] like the stars forever and ever. [Matt. 13:43.]

4 But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the Book until the time of the end. [Then] many shall run to and fro and search anxiously [through the Book], and knowledge [of God’s purposes as revealed by His prophets] shall be increased and become great. [Amos 8:12.]

The teachers and those who turn many to righteousness will shine like stars forever. Stars are also known as angels in the Bible. Teachers and those who turn many to righteousness will rise up to everlasting life and shine like stars. Daniel heard the angels talking to one another. The worst part for those on the earth will be the last three and one half years.

Daniel 12:5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, there stood two others, the one on the brink of the river on this side and the other on the brink of the river on that side.

6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? [Dan. 10:5.]

7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right and his left hand toward the heavens and swore by Him Who lives forever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half a time [or three and one-half years]; and when they have made an end of shattering and crushing the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

There must be a shattering and a crushing of the power of the holy people, the Jews, the ones who denied Jesus yet ran the world. The warring factions, Babylon, the Beast, and the Jews, will fight for control in those days. The Beast will overcome Babylon and the Jews. Then the Beast will try to war against the Lamb and his saints.

Daniel 12:8 And I heard, but I did not understand. Then I said, O my lord, what shall be the issue and final end of these things?

9 And he [the angel] said, Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed till the time of the end.

10 Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be tried, smelted, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but the teachers and those who are wise shall understand. [Dan. 11:33-35.]

Many will purify themselves during those days because they will embrace the savior that they rejected. They will realize the time period that they are living in and will have believed the two witnesses.

Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the continual burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days. [Dan. 11:31.]

12 Blessed, happy, fortunate, spiritually prosperous, and to be envied is he who waits expectantly and earnestly [who endures without wavering beyond the period of tribulation] and comes to the 1,335 days!

The Amplified Bible. (1987) La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.

The burnt offering will be reinstated, then about mid-way into the seven years the burnt offering will cease. This will be when the son of perdition sits in the Holy of Holies and calls himself “god”, because he didn’t die in the Holy of Holies. Then people will have to endure the second half of the tribulation plus forty five days. Verse 10 tells us that those people will be chosen because of being purified.

The people who stay steady, endure to the end, and do not accept the mark of the Beast, will be chosen. The eagles will gather them from the four corners of the world and they will live in the millennial kingdom with Jesus as their Lord.

Life was not easy for Noah, Job, or Daniel, yet they endured and were blessed by Yahweh for their faith. Ezekiel used them as an example so that we could consider what goes on today. Someone lied to us, this life isn’t easy, it’s not heaven on earth. Someone lied to us, God is not punishing us. Someone lied to us, we will not live through the time of the tribulation if we confess our faith that Jesus is Lord and that he rose up on the third day. The one who lies to us is also the one who persecutes us in an attempt to cause us to deny our faith. Consider Noah, Job, and Daniel, and realize that we have the tools to overcome. We can resist and not lose our faith. We can use imprecations. We can pray not to be tested or sported with. We can ask for Yahweh to judge us. Remember that Yahweh always makes a way out, and having a personal relationship with Him will help us endure.
