Redemption; Off-Ransomed; Captives Rescued; Our Day of Redemption

We haven’t realized it fully, but we live a dystopian existence. The elements around us are corrupting and decaying, as are our own physical bodies. We think that we are born free but we are not. We are captives. Slaves. We live as kidnapped hostages and think that somehow we have the power to make the world a utopia, like the garden of Eden. In our short time on earth we do not see how quickly everything degrades, but we look to fantasy realms to make us aspire and hope for better.  Although no amount of effort helps us achieve the place that we wistfully imagine. We live as slaves with demonic overlords and harsh taskmasters. Once in a while we get a glimpse of the evil realm that we exist in and we turn our eyes and minds away, secretly hoping it is not so, yet in our hearts we know it truly is. While we are led to believe we control destinies and fortunes, we do not. We have very little control over our lives and the paths that we are to walk. There is a battle for the soul and spirit of every manfaced on the earth. Every person is born into a decrepit decaying world. Every person has one hope, one choice, Jesus Messiah.

While we might look at landscapes and plants, the stars and the moon, and declare that we are in awe of their beauty, this is not the best our Elohim can do. He already has done far better, we simply have not been privileged to see it. Nothing is decaying in those places. Perpetual life and everlasting glory abounds. Paul couldn’t even tell us about paradise. If he did we would all want to head over there sooner than we should. We would be lovesick for eternity, pining away for the future without much thought for the present.

Our balance is that we live on the dystopian earth in search for our help. Our help comes from Yahweh, maker of heaven and earth. He gave himself as a ransom, allowing himself to be killed in exchange for  our lives. While the deal was his death, his blood, for our life, Satanas and his keepers of death and hades did not realize that they could not hold a sinless man. The gates of hades could not bind him who had no sin. In this way he shed his blood for us and overcame death and hades, to rise up to the right hand of the Father. But the deal is still in effect. The negotiated settlement was for a specific number of the seed of the adam and a specific time period. He shed his blood and now can purchase all those who believe on him. He paid our ransom. He bought us. The powers of evil failed.

The first place we should look is the last place the saints are referenced as being bought, purchased, or redeemed. When we look at Revelation 5 we see most translations use the word “redeemed” in verse 9 while a few others use the the words “bought” or “purchased”. This word for “bought’ is the word agorazō, it stems from the the word for “market”, agora. Being redeemed is being bought. It is something that is finished. In this instance, the people John is writing about have been bought. They have already been purchased. Why? Because they are in heaven singing. Since none of the redeemed are singing in heaven just yet, we see it as a future event. But John was viewing it, so for him it was a present tense event.

Revelation 5:9 G2532 And That G103 they sang sing G5603 [2ode G2537 1a new], G3004 saying, G514 Worthy G1510.2.2 are you G2983 to take G3588 the G975 scroll, G2532 and G455 to open G3588   G4973 its seals; G1473   G3754 for G4969 you were slain, G2532 and G59 you bought G3588   G2316 us to God G1473   G1722 by G3588   G129 your blood, G1473   G1537 from out of G3956 every G5443 tribe, G2532 and G1100 tongue, G2532 and G2992 people, G2532 and G1484 nation.

ἀγοράζω

agorazō ag-or-ad'-zo From G58; properly to go to market, that is, (by implication) to purchase; specifically to redeem KJV Usage: buy, redeem.

At the time of this event, Jesus will have redeemed, purchased, or bought, the saints who believe in Him. These verses have been poorly translated with bias to previously conceived ideas. We have broken this section down before, so as a reminder I will post a few excerpts.

As Jesus walks up to the throne he takes the book from the right hand of the Father. Imagine how the Father feels seeing Jesus looking like a lamb that was murdered, and seeing the majority of the people Jesus redeemed looking pretty good. Jesus takes the book/scroll, the four living creatures who have a harp and a bowl of the prayers of the saints.

Rev 5:8  And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

There should not be a verse break here. The focus is the saints and their prayers which leads to the next statement.

The word and in verse 9 is more properly translated “that”. The word they does not appear in the text. The word sang is the word “sing”. Someone translated it in the past tense but it is in the present tense.  “The prayers of the saints that sing a new song.” Why are the saints singing a new song? This is a song that no one can sing today because no one has been redeemed yet. But the living creatures have a bowl of prayers from the saints that are going to sing a new song. What will the saints be singing about? It seems funny that the translators changed tenses, added words, and divided the verse in the wrong place unless they were trying to hide something from us.

 Rev 5:9  And that they sung sing a new song, saying,…

It is prayers in a bowl not songs. The prayers in the bowl are from the people singing. Not people who sang or once had sung a song. They are the prayers of the saints in the bowl from the saints that sing a brand new song. Who are the saints? The redeemed. The saints are not angels, cherubim, seraphim etc. The saints are the only ones bought by Jesus’ blood. He paid our ransom. We had been kidnapped and forced to live under an evil ruler without a choice, but Jesus paid the ransom. No one else in heaven can sing this song. The beasts and elders are not singing about the saints, the saints are singing about themselves.

https://musingsofawinsomeheart.blogspot.com/2013/03/when-we-get-to-heaven-revelation-5_11.html

…Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

Rev 5:10  And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

This song is a parallel to Revelation 1:5-6 but as we see in many modern translations the translators changed the recipients who were redeemed from first person plural to third person plural. Sometimes they change both words “us” to “they” and sometimes they change one word “us” to “they”. There is also a change with the word “we” to “they in some texts. Again someone is trying to imply the saints are not singing but someone else is singing. Who is singing the song? The saints. If the saints are not in heaven why would someone sing about their redemption as well as their future positions?

So far as we can see there are no saints in heaven until now. If your religion told you that there are saints in heaven, they are incorrect. Jesus says the overcomers are in paradise, not heaven. Yet now the saints, the dead who were overcomers in paradise and the ones who were still living on the earth, are in heaven, singing about what Jesus did for them. They are not singing about what Jesus did for other sons of God. Who did Jesus redeem? The beasts and elders are not singing this song, the saints are singing. The beasts and elders are not made kings and priests, the saints are. No other beings can sing this song, except the redeemed manfaced.

https://musingsofawinsomeheart.blogspot.com/2023/07/harpazod-who-are-redeemed-seven-events.html

And again:

“…that are the prayers the saints and sing song new saying ‘Worthy you are take the scroll and open the its seals because slain and buy the Elohim us in the blood your from out of all tribe and tongue and people and nation and make us the Elohim our kings and priests and reign upon the earth.”

or

“…that are the prayers of the saints that sing a new song saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and open its seals because you were slain and bought us to the Elohim in your blood from out of all tribes and tongues and people and nations and make us kings and priests to our Elohim and to reign upon the earth.”

We see that the added words and the change in tense for the word “sing” makes this look like it is past tense, when it is present tense, and someone else is singing. Also the change in pronouns to third person plural from first person plural is an alteration as this is a reiteration from Revelation 1:5&6, written in first person plural. We are singing, the redeemed are singing, the ones who have completed and perfected spirits are made kings and priests by Jesus’ blood. This is the celebration as this section continues myriads of angels, the living creatures, and elders, are all singing a different song.

The first question we should ask ourselves is who are the redeemed? Are angels redeemed? Where does it say in the Bible that Jesus came to redeem angels? Are beasts and elders redeemed? How about cherubim, seraphim, or ophanim? Did Jesus come to rescue any other sons of the Elohim along with Manfaced? Again, the only redeemed, rescued, bought, and purchased beings are manfaced, humans. Not all humans, but humans who believe in Jesus as Lord and Messiah. If someone wanted to hide the harpazo, this is one way they would do it, they would confuse all the words and issues surrounding it. The non-confused version is that Jesus came to earth to redeem manfaced, and manfaced only. We have no text suggesting otherwise. Secondly, we are called to become kings and priests. We do not see any other sons of the Elohim called as kings and priests. We are the only ones that Jesus came to buy back from captivity.

Redeemed is to be released on receipt of ransom, off-ransom. Did you know that you were being held for a ransom? It would be great if, as part of our elementary education we heard about it. Some people reject their captors, because they hear and believe their redeemer will come for them. Some people have Stockholm Syndrome and love their captors. The ransom required was the blood of the Son of the Most High Elohim. The price has been paid. As Ezra told us, the timing is set and will not change. When Jesus calls from the clouds and the dead in Christ rise up first, then the living on earth join them in the air, humans will be redeemed, or we could say bought or purchased. In the mean time we are marked for redemption. Peter has some suggestions.

λυτρόω

lutroō loo-tro'-o From G3083; to ransom (literally or figuratively)

KJV Usage: redeem.

Peter tells us to be holy and behave because we are not ransomed by anything corruptible but by the unblemished blood of the lamb, Jesus Messiah. This is a blood covenant between Jesus Messiah and any individual who believes.

1 Peter 1:19 G235 but G5093 by the esteemed G129 blood, G5613 as G286 of a lamb G299 unblemished G2532 and G784 spotless, G5547 of Christ;

We are ransomed by way of our belief in Him, Jesus, our faith makes us righteous, sanctified and justified. The Psalmist understood being redeemed or being ransomed.

Psalm 107:0 G239 Alleluiah.

  1 G1843 Make acknowledgment G3588 to the G2962 lord G3754 for G5543 he is gracious, G3754 for G1519 [2 is into G3588 3the G165 4eon G3588   G1656 1his mercy]! G1473

We are to tell others about His grace because he ransomed us out of the hand of the enemy. Did he take us out from our captivity today? No, he is collecting us all at once into a new eon. The Holy Spirit marked us for redemption.

Psalm 136:24 G2532 And G3084 he ransomed G1473 us G1537 from G3588   G2190 our enemies, G1473   G3754 for G1519 into G3588 the G165 eon G3588   G1656 is his mercy.

The word lutroō is a verb, lutron, is the noun. Lutron comes from the word luō, a verb meaning “loose, untie, or release”. Lutrōsis is also a noun meaning “ransoming”. Lutrōtēs is a noun meaning “redeemer”. Let’s look at these different words.

Matthew 20:27 G2532 And G3739 who G1437 ever G2309 should want G1722 among G1473 you G1510.1 to be G4413 first, G1510.8.3 shall be G1473 your G1401 servant.

As Jesus is telling the disciples, whoever wants to be the first or the chiefest among them should be a servant to all the people. Jesus is our example. He gave his life as a ransom for all who believe on him. We live in a corrupt world where opposite day is every day. People who want to be in charge or be the big boss push and shove their way to the top. They serve no one but themselves. Jesus changed that.

Jesus entered into the heavenly holy of holies as an eternal ransoming. On our morally depraved planet the repeated blood of bulls and goats had to be offered for remission of sins. Jesus did it one time, for all.

The sons of Korah wrote into the fulfillment or completion of the age. They say one brother cannot be a ransom for his earthly sibling. No matter how much he worked to be a ransom for his brother he cannot. Only Yahweh Elohim can be our ransomer.

apo apo' A primary particle; “off” , that is, away (from something near), in various senses (of place, time, or relation; literally or figuratively)

KJV Usage: (X here-) after, ago, at, because of, before, by (the space of), for (-th), from, in, (out) of, off, (up-) on (-ce), since, with. In composition (as a prefix) it usually denotes separation, departure, cessation, completion, reversal, etc.

As we see apolutrōsis means “off-ransom”. The implication is taking away the ransomed. Jesus separates the ransomed from the non-ransomed. It is a release by ransom for the believers to be taken by Jesus in exchange for those who rejected Jesus and/or have Stockholm Syndrome. As we studied last week, Ezra also confirms that there is a set number of humans and a fixed time when these events will take place.

The context here is the Day of the Lord. This is the day when Jesus comes in the clouds with power and glory and with his armies from heaven. The harpazo is when Jesus calls from the clouds and the believers in Christ go up to meet him in the air. We would not be looking for Jesus’ harpazo as there are no preceding signs for it. There are preceding signs for the Day of the Lord. We should recognize that there will be plenty of Bibles around after the harpazo as the believers won’t need them in the heavens. People left behind on earth will have the opportunity to find out what their immediate future holds.

This directs our attention back to the first verse we looked at, Revelation 5:9. There is a difference between the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom of Heaven is inside the Kingdom of God. We see other sons of God in the Kingdom of Heaven such as angels, cherubim, and seraphim, but we do not see all of the angels, cherubim, and seraphim, there. To understand the difference we would say that the universe is the Kingdom of God while the Kingdom of Heaven is inside like a city or a capital. Satanas has rule over the earth and the lower atmospheres of the earth, or the cosmos. Satanas stole a tiny portion of Yahweh Elohim’s creation from the adam. Jesus pointed out that the many will sit with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven, while others will be outside the Kingdom of Heaven, Matthew 8. At that time it will be too late to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, the preparation takes place now while we are on the earth. Paul explains more.

We hear a lot of opposites because the evil world ruler of darkness would not have people believe on Jesus as Messiah. We hear things preached such as the people who went into captivity were punished. But in truth they were spared and preserved. We hear that people who will be taken off the earth (harpazo’d) are going to be taken by aliens in spaceships. We hear that the Day of the Lord will be wonderful, but in fact it will be a bloody horrific time for everyone especially the ones trying to usurp Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords. We hear that we have to account for our sins, but alas, another opposite, Paul says we are justified and not charged by grace.

Romans 3:23 G3956 for all G1063   G264 sinned G2532 and G5302 lack G3588 the G1391 glory G3588   G2316 of God;

  24 G1344 being justified G1431 without charge G3588 by G1473 his G5484 favor, G1223 through G3588 the G629 release by ransom, G3588 of the one G1722 by G5547 Christ G* Jesus;

All of us lack or do not have the glory of God. It is by the Elohim’s grace that we are not charged for our sins, but are justified by our belief in Him. It is also by the grace of Jesus Messiah that he will off-ransom those which he paid for in his own blood.

Romans 8:23 G3756 [2not G3440 3only that G1161 1And], G235 but G2532 also G1473 ourselves G3588 [2the G536 3first-fruit G3588 4of the G4151 5spirit G2192 1having], G2532 even G1473 we G1473 ourselves G1722 in G1438 ourselves G4727 moan, G5206 [2adoption G553 1awaiting] -- G3588 the G629 release by ransom G3588   G4983 of our body. G1473

  24 G3588 For in the G1063   G1680 hope G4982 we were delivered. G1680 But hope G1161   G991 being seen G3756 is not G1510.2.3   G1680 hope; G3739 for what G1063   G991 anyone sees, G5100   G5100 why G2532 also G1679 does he hope?

We have the Holy Spirit within us yet we still moan as we live in an evil world awaiting our adoption, the off-ransom. It is by our hope that we are delivered. We haven’t seen it yet which is why it is called hope.

1 Corinthians 1:30 G1537 [4of G1473 5him G1161 1But G1473 2you G1510.2.5 3are] G1722 in G5547 Christ G* Jesus, G3739 who G1096 became G1473 wisdom to us G4678   G575 from G2316 God, G1343 both righteousness G5037   G2532 and G38 sanctification G2532 and G629 release by ransom;

  31 G2443 that, G2531 as G1125 it has been written, G3588 The one G2744 boasting, G1722 [2in G2962 3 the Lord G2744 1let him boast]!

Jesus Messiah was made our wisdom, our righteousness, our sanctification, and our off-ransom. Jesus is the ransomer. He paid the agreed upon price for anyone who chooses.

Ephesians 1:7 G1722 by G3739 whom G2192 we have G3588 the G629 release by ransom G1223 through G3588   G129 his blood, G1473   G3588 the G859 release G3588   G3900 of transgressions, G2596 according to G3588 the G4149 riches G3588   G5484 of his favor, G1473

  8 G3739 which G4052 he abounded G1519 in G1473 us G1722 in G3956 all G4678 wisdom G2532 and G5428 intelligence,

We have the off-ransom through His blood and the release of sins. Again, the opposite we are told is that we have to do something for our ransom, we have to do works, pay penitence, pay indulgences, pray a certain way and at certain times, and never eat anything unclean. Nope, that is only in dystopia world, we are only passing through here and are not subject to their made-up rules and laws.

Ephesians 4:30 G2532 And G3361 do not G3076 fret G3588 the G4151 [2spirit G3588   G39 1holy] G3588   G2316 of God, G1722 in G3739 which G4972 you were sealed G1519 for G2250 the day G629 of release by ransom!

We should not fret the Holy Spirit or grieve the Holy Spirit. We are sealed for the release by random day, or sealed for the off-ransom day, a day we would love to mark in our calendars but have no idea when it will take place. Grace is not our license to sin. Peter told us to be holy and behave for a reason. Some people get the idea that just because they are not held accountable for their sins, they can get as close to sin as they would like. Not so. People will be sad when they stand before the Lord and do not receive rewards. Don’t fall for Satanas’ lie of grace allowing sins.

Colossians 1:12 G2168 giving thanks G3588 to the G2316 God G2532 and G3962 father, G3588 to the one G2427 making us fit G1473   G1519 in G3588 the G3310 portion G3588 of the G2819 lot G3588 of the G39 holy ones G1722 in G3588 the G5457 light;

  13 G3739 who G4506 rescued G1473 us G1537 from out of G3588 the G1849 authority G3588 of the G4655 darkness, G2532 and G3179 changed us over G1519 to G3588 the G932 kingdom G3588 of the G5207 son G3588   G26 of his love; G1473

  14 G1722 in G3739 whom G2192 we have G3588 the G629 release by ransom G1223 through G3588   G129 his blood -- G1473   G3588 the G859 release G3588   G266 of sins;

  15 G3739 who G1510.2.3 is G1504 the image G3588 of the G2316 unseen God, G3588   G517   G4416 first-born G3956 of all G2937 creation;

  16 G3754 for G1722 in G1473 him G2936 were created G3588 the whole, G3956   G3588 the things G1722 in G3588 the G3772 heavens, G2532 and G3588 the things G1909 upon G3588 the G1093 earth -- G3588 the G3707 visible G2532 and G3588 the G517 unseen; G1535 whether G2362 thrones, G1535 whether G2963 lordships, G1535 whether G746 sovereignties, G1535 whether G1849 authorities; G3588 the whole G3956   G1223 through G1473 him G2532 and G1519 in G1473 him G2936 have been created.

Read that again slowly. We have been rescued out of the authority of darkness and changed over to the kingdom of the Son. Only captives are rescued. Slaves are rescued. In the Son we have the off-ransom through Jesus’ blood. And he created all things and by Him all things were created. Even the dystopian world we live in. It was not created dystopian and eroding, it became that way with the sinful overthrow of the adam. Corruption entered into the earth when corruption’s seed entered into the adam. Yet the plan was set in place for a ransomer and a mission to ransom the saints.

Being redeemed is something we presently are and something we are waiting for. We are marked “paid in full” but we have not been picked up yet. We are on layaway. Jesus bought us with his blood, and the ones who can sing about it are humans only. Jesus did not come to redeem the other sons of God, not the angels, or cherubim, or seraphim, or ophanim. None of the other sons of the Elohim are being redeemed by Jesus’ blood. However we currently live in a dystopian opposite world and we were never informed that the current prince of this world is a fallen son of the Elohim who has captured humanity and enslaved us. By faith in Jesus as Messiah, and confession of Jesus as Lord with belief that he rose up on the third day, we are marked for the Day of Redemption. Jesus will rescue all the hostages, when the number of manfaced is reached and the set time comes, from captivity to eternity. Behave and be holy because the ransomer is coming.
