Thoughts and Ideas; At the Ready; Demolish the Wall; Yahweh Knows

What would happen if the ‘called out’ told everyone on the planet that Yahweh Elohim knows every thought, every intention, and every imagination that each individual has in their mind or in their heart? Would people become conscientious of their thoughts, behaviors, and actions? There is no hiding from the Lord God the things that each human thinks. Humanity has become so mentally unsound and unstable that behaviors which used to be done in secret are now done in the open, and things that once were thought shameful, are now celebrated. It seems Satanas has a plan to cause humans to become crazy. Knowing that Yahweh knows every thought and imagination, you would think that people would want to attempt to control their minds’ and their imaginations. Wouldn’t people want to take authority over demonic thoughts? In the church we have the great opportunity to teach the world that everyone can have a sound mind, but it has to start with us first. Just yesterday I read about a pastor who was arrested for abusing a child. The world would make excuses for the pastor, saying that the man was born that way and that his pedophilia is normal. But Yahweh would say that that man turned away from Him with imaginations and contrary thoughts. We need to tear down the wall of disobedient thoughts that shields us from the knowledge of Yahweh. We need to be on guard and stand at the ready for every thought. Let’s explore.

David was organizing the kingdom before his death and pre-coronating Solomon so that upon David’s death Solomon would reign as King. As David was speaking to Solomon in front of the assembly, David points out something that should be of concern to us. He says that Yahweh inquires diligently of the hearts, and that Yahweh knows all ideas of thoughts.

1 Chronicles 28:9 G2532 And G3568 now, G* Solomon G5207 O my son, G1473   G1097 know G3588 the G2316 God G3588   G3962 of your fathers, G1473   G2532 and G1398 serve G1473 to him G1722 with G2588 [2heart G5046 1a perfect] G2532 and G5590 [2soul G2309 1a willing]! …

As we see, David wants Solomon to serve Yahweh with a perfect heart and a willing soul, two things that we must keep in mind for ourselves. We know from hindsight that Solomon turned away from Yahweh sometime after the temple was constructed, only to regret his decision at the end of his life. His soul became unwilling to serve and his heart became imperfect. Solomon lost the Holy Spirit who could no longer abide with him.

G3754 For G3956 [3of all G2588 4hearts G1833 2inquires diligently G2962 1 the lord], G2532 and G3956 every G1760.1 idea G1271 of thoughts G1097 he knows. …

“Since Yahweh examines well all hearts (inner intentions) and all recollection thoughts comes to know.”

Nothing escapes Yahweh. Every one of our thoughts, every one of our intentions, and every memory is known to Yahweh.

G1437 If G2212 you should seek G1473 him, G2147 he will be found G1473 by you. G2532 And G1437 if G2641 you should leave G1473 him, G2641 he shall leave G1473 you G1519 to G5056 the end

If we are going to run to Yahweh we have to search for Him. Solomon left him as his soul became enticed to power by demons and his heart became imperfect, so Yahweh left Solomon through to the end of his life.

The word ενθύμημα is used several times by different writers, it is a noun. The case is accusative, the number is singular, and the gender is neuter. It is a variation of ἐνθυμέομαι and ἐνθύμησις which is “in-soul” or “in-passion”; passion meaning “fierceness or wrath”. The idea of 1760 ἐνθυμέομαι is that the mind is actively thinking, considering, or reflecting while 1760.1 ενθύμημα, is memories, recollection, and reminiscence. Used with the word διάνοια this means recalling thoughts or understandings or deep thoughts and recollections.

1760.1 ενθύμημα: remember,  a remembrance, reminiscence, memory, keepsake, memento, recollection

1760 LSJ Gloss:ἐνθυμέομαι to lay to heart, consider well, reflect on, ponder

Dodson: ἐνθυμέομαι I meditate upon, reflect upon I meditate upon, reflect upon, ponder.

ἐνθυμέομαι

enthumeomai en-thoo-meh'-om-ahee  From a compound of G1722 and G2372; to be inspirited, that is, ponder KJV Usage: think.

1761 LSJ Gloss:ἐνθύμησις consideration, esteem

Dodson: ἐνθύμησις inward thought, reflection, thoughts inward thought, reflection, plur: thoughts.

ἐνθύμησις

enthumēsis en-thoo'-may-sis From G1760; deliberation KJV Usage: device, thought.

1271 LSJ Gloss:διάνοια a thought, intention, purpose

Dodson:διάνοια understanding, intellect, mind understanding, intellect, mind, insight.

TBESG:διάνοια mind

G:N-F

διάνοια, -ας, ἡ

[in LXX chiefly for לֵב, לֵבָב ;]

the understanding, mind:

Thayer:

1) the mind as a faculty of understanding, feeling, desiring

2) understanding

3) mind, i.e. spirit, way of thinking and feeling

4) thoughts, either good or bad

διάνοια

dianoia dee-an'-oy-ah From G1223 and G3563; deep thought, properly the faculty (mind or its disposition), by implication its exercise KJV Usage: imagination, mind, understanding.

1223

διά

dia dee-ah' A primary preposition denoting the channel of an act; through (in very wide applications, local, causal or occasional). In composition it retains the same general import

3563

νοῦς

nous nooce Probably from the base of G1097; the intellect, that is, mind (divine or human; in thought, feeling, or will); by implication meaning KJV Usage: mind, understanding.

Enthýmima (ενθύμημα) suggests past imaginations or things from the past that one might think on again. It could be fond memories or memories of past heartbreak. Sometimes our past was easy, sometimes our past was painful. But the past is over and we do not need to actively live there in our mind any longer. We do not need to attach emotions to those memories. Those days have already been lived. It is time to bring our thoughts into the present, with the future in the forefront of our mind. Yahweh knows the inner thoughts and intents of the heart and of the mind. Yahweh knows what we are thinking and what we are considering, he knows what we meditate on and what thoughts or imaginations we hide in our hearts. Yahweh knows all the recalled thoughts and imaginations that we consider, both good and bad.

Dianoia (διάνοια) suggests “through the mind”. It is the power of intellect and understanding. This is our ability to think about and consider things. We can either think about things that are good and beneficial or think about things that are evil and a distraction from God. We make that choice. We choose what to think about. We might hear suggestions from others, but it is up to us as to what we think about.

One thing for us to understand is that although Yahweh knows our thoughts, our meditations, and our heart and soul, he does not control us or the way that we behave. He knows, but he does not control. Yahweh does not force himself on people, he does not orchestrate who is saved and who is not. Those choices are up to us. The things that we do will determine our future. Yahweh can see the good and the bad decisions that we make and we are subject to those consequences. If we drink and drive, then there might be a bad outcome. We can cry about God not stopping us or intervening in our situation, but we do not want to serve a God that treats us like puppets. If God just stopped us every time we are tempted we to do something that was harmful, then we would just continue to do stupid things expecting no consequences. God will not stop the bad things from happening if we intentionally do bad things. We have to learn mastery over our body and soul.

Later on, as David is praying in the same assembly he asks Yahweh to guard the formed thoughts of the hearts of the people there at that time. Those people were bringing offerings to store up for the new temple that Solomon would build.

1 Chronicles 29:17 G2532 And G1097 I know, G2962 O lord, G3754 that G1473 you G1510.2.2 are G3588 the one G2082.1 examining G2588 hearts, G2532 and G25 loving G1343 righteousness. G2532 And G1473 I G1722 in G572 singleness G2588 of heart G1594.2 volunteered G3778 all these things . G3956   G2532 And G3568 now, G3588   G2992 your people, G1473   G3588   G2147 being found G5602 here, G1492 see G1722 with G2167 gladness, G1594.2 volunteering G1473 to you.

  18 G2962 O lord, G3588   G2316 God G* of Abraham, G2532 and G* Isaac, G2532 and G* Israel, G3588 of the one G3962 of our fathers, G1473   G5442 keep G1473 of them G3588 the G4110 thing shaped G1271 of the thoughts G2588 of the heart G2992 of your people G1473   G1519 into G3588 the G165 eon! G2532 and G2720 straighten out G3588   G2588 their hearts G1473   G4314 to G1473 you!

“Guard the formed understanding the heart your people into the eon and direct their heart towards you.”

The people bringing the materials and offerings to build the temple had formed and fashioned the thoughts in their hearts that they wanted to be part of the greatest building project of all time. The thoughts and hearts of the people were pure and righteous before Yahweh. David prays for their hearts to be directed towards Yahweh.

1 Chronicles 29:19 G2532 And G* [4Solomon G3588 2 to G5207 3my son G1473   G1325 1give G2588 6heart G18 5a good]! G3588   G4160 to observe G3588   G1785 your commandments, G1473   G2532 and G3588   G3142 your testimonies, G1473   G2532 and G3588   G4366.2 your orders, G1473   G2532 and G3588   G1909 [3unto G5056 4completion G71 1to lead G3956 2all], G2532 and G3588   G3618 to build G3588 the G2680.1 furnishing G3588   G3624 of your house G1473   G1510.7.3 which G2090 I prepared.

David prays for Solomon to have a good heart so that he could build the temple. The building of the temple was a marvelous undertaking. Yet Yahweh did not ask David to build it, David asked to build it for Yahweh. Yahweh said that Solomon should build the temple because David was a man of war and blood. But it was David who wanted to build the temple.

Solomon is not unlike the children of all great men. Solomon, up to that point, had not warred on Yahweh’s behalf. Solomon did not fight and struggle for anything. David fought through the hardships of being a giant slayer and king. Solomon walked into the benefits of David’s hard work. Solomon undertook the great project, but along the way he had to make compromises and deals with surrounding nations. Yet Solomon had the help of the Holy Spirit until he became disobedient to Yahweh. When we live through hard times we create habits in our thought process. We have to learn how to fight the thoughts in our own mind that do not align with Yahweh. Solomon says this.

Proverbs 9:10 G746 The beginning G4678 of wisdom G5401 is fear G2962 of the lord; G2532 and G1012 the counsel G39 of holy ones G4907 is understanding. G3588   G1063 For G1097 to know G3551 the law G1271 [3consideration G1510.2.3 1is G18 2of good]

David prayed for Solomon to observe the commandments, testimonies, and orders of Yahweh. It seems that Solomon understands that the origin or beginning or ruler (archē) of Wisdom is fear (phobos) of Yahweh. To be in fear of Yahweh means that we will walk in consideration of Him and we will be concerned to not behave badly. If we want the Spirit of Wisdom to commune with us, we have to be concerned over our thoughts and intents. The purpose, will, or deliberate wisdom, of the saints is intelligence, intellect, or understanding (sunesis). To know the law is to have good thoughts or understanding. This is what we think about, and with fear of Yahweh we will gain Wisdom. Jesus changed the law that we are to think on. If we follow Jesus’ words then the law is simple.

Matthew 22:35 G2532 And G1905 [4asked G1520 1one G1537 2of G1473 3them], G3544 a legal expert, G3985 testing G1473 him G2532 and G3004 saying,

  36 G1320 Teacher, G4169 which G1785 commandment G3173 is great G1722 in G3588 the G3551 law?

Obviously the “legal expert” was not interested in the answer that Jesus would give as much as he was interested in catching Jesus saying something wrong. Jesus had a great answer.

Matthew 22:37 G3588   G1161 And G* Jesus G5346 said G1473 to him, G25 You shall love G2962 the Lord G3588   G2316 your God G1473   G1722 with G3650 [2entire G3588   G2588 3heart G1473 1your], G2532 and G1722 with G3650 [2entire G3588   G5590 3soul G1473 1your], G2532 and G1722 with G3650 [2entire G3588   G1271 3thought G1473 1your].

Love Yahweh Elohim with the entire heart, with the entire soul or breath life, and your entire thinking. If this is what we are to think about, it makes our life much easier. Think “love” in our heart, soul, and mind. If we love Yahweh then we fulfill this command. If we love others we fulfill the second command.

Matthew 22:38 G3778 This G1510.2.3 is G4413 the first G2532 and G3173 great G1785 commandment.

  39 G1208 And second G1161   G3664 likened G1473 to it, G25 You shall love G3588   G4139 your neighbor G1473   G5613 as G4572 yourself.

  40 G1722 In G3778 these G3588 the G1417 two G1785 commandments G3650 all G3588 the G3551 law G2532 and G3588 the G4396 prophets G2910 hang upon.

In these two commandments are summed up all the laws and the guidance of all the prophets. Just about every bad decision we have ever made can be attributed to not following these two commands. We see videos of people flying on airplanes behaving crazy to those around them.  Or we see videos of people screaming and yelling at someone in a store who thinks differently about germs. Those behaviors are corrected by those two commands. The pastor who molests a child is also corrected by those two commands. We all have to learn to correct ourselves. We can’t stop what comes out of our mouth or the way that our body responds to thoughts if we don’t stop what is rattling around in our head. Notice how Paul ties these ideas together. He says that we were separated and are enemies in thought by wicked works.

Colossians 1:21 G2532 And G1473 you G4218 at some time or other G1510.6 being G526 separated G2532 and G2190 enemies G3588   G1271 in thought G1722 by G3588   G2041 [2works G3588   G4190 1wicked], G3568 but now G1161   G604 he reconciled

  22 G1722 in G3588 the G4983 body G3588   G4561 of his flesh G1473   G1223 through G3588   G2288 death, G3936 to present G1473 you G39 holy G2532 and G299 unblemished G2532 and G410 without reproach G2714 before G1473 him;

At one time in each of our lives, we were separated and enemies of Yahweh. Our thoughts were wicked which made our actions wicked. We need to recognize that our thoughts are not somehow holy unless we think holy things. However, now, with thoughts that circle our brain trying to find a way to deter us from Yahweh, Jesus made us holy, unblemished, and without reproach. Paul says this again.

Ephesians 4:17 G3778 This G3767 then G3004 I say G2532 and G3143 testify G1722 in G2962 the Lord, G3371 for you to no longer G1473   G4043 walk G2531 as G2532 also G3588 the G3062 rest G1484 of the nations G4043 walk, G1722 in G3153 the folly G3588   G3563 of their mind, G1473

  18 G4654 being darkened G3588 in the G1271 mind, G1510.6 being G526 separated from G3588 the G2222 life G3588   G2316 of God, G1223 through G3588 the G52 ignorance G3588   G1510.6 being G1722 in G1473 them, G1223 through G3588 the G4457 callousness G3588   G2588 of their heart; G1473

3) frailty, want of vigour

ματαιότης

mataiotēs mat-ah-yot'-ace From G3152; inutility; figuratively transientness; morally depravity

KJV Usage: vanity.

The world walks in the vanity, purposelessness, emptiness, or unreality, of their mind, nous. Notice that the word folly is much stronger than something silly or useless, it includes perverseness, depravity, and false religion. False religion is in the mind. But it is not only a simple thought, it is a deception reinforced from both outside and inside the mind. Worship of anything or anyone other than the Creator of the heavens and earth is a false religion. Worship of Satanas or Drakōn is a false religion, neither create or procreate. Neither can subvert the Mighty Almighty Eternal Father, Yahweh Elohim, or the Holy Spirit.

The idea of a mind that is devoid of truth applies in our generation. We can see people devoid of truth, not loving the Father Elohim, or neighbors as themselves. We can see people who say that they are followers of Yahweh but advocate for abortion or pretend sexual abuse of children is acceptable to the one who Created each human being. Think about that. Satanas and Drakōn cannot procreate, they cannot multiply with their own children, so they want to kill the Creators children. Sadly there are people in the ekklesia who think that this is acceptable. These people make their murdering abusive behaviors a false religion. The test is, does it stand up to what Jesus said in Matthew 22. Is it loving to kill the Father’s children? Is it loving to abuse your neighbor who is a child or an adult? We know them by their fruits.

Let’s continue. Paul says that the unsaved ethnic groups walk in the depravity and perverseness of their mind; darkened or obscure thoughts.

2b2) of the understanding

2b3) of the mind

σκοτίζω

skotizō skot-id'-zo From G4655; to obscure (literally or figuratively) KJV Usage: darken.

The word skotizō shows us that thoughts can be so dark that they are deprived of light. This is what alienates people from the Elohim. The people with perverse minds and dark thoughts who are alienated from the Elohim are ignorant and have a callous heart. People become willfully blind because they love the darkness. David told Solomon to serve the Elohim with a perfect heart and a willing soul. Callousness of heart is imperfection. Remember, Yahweh inquires diligently of the hearts, and Yahweh knows all ideas and thoughts.

Ephesians 4:19 G3748 ones who G524 being numbed, G1438 delivered themselves up G3860   G3588 to G766 lewdness, G1519 for G2039 a work G167 of all uncleanness G3956   G1722 in G4124 a desire for wealth.

These people are numb. They cannot feel love, or joy, or happiness. They have made themselves a heart of stone and they cease to care about anything or anyone. They surrender themselves to unbridled lust and then they labor to continue all their impurity because of greed. Hollywood. They become aggressive over perverse lusts and avarice. It becomes a club and a false religion where the perverse minds and dark thoughts keep people numb. Yet Yahweh knows those thoughts and intents of the heart. Jesus died for them too if they choose to make Jesus Lord and believe that he rose up on the third day.

νόημα

noēma no'-ay-mah From G3539; a perception, that is, purpose, or (by implication) the intellect, disposition, itself KJV Usage: device, mind, thought.

Satanas’s thoughts are his evil purposes, and one of his evil purposes is to trigger humans into not controlling their thoughts. While some people are as Paul described in Ephesians 4, “callous hearted”, some are simply taken advantage of. Some people do no understand that their mind can be influenced by demons or Satanas himself.

2 Corinthians 4:4 G1722 in G3739 which G3588 the G2316 god G3588   G165 of this eon G3778   G5186 blinded G3588 the G3540 thoughts G3588 of the G571 unbelieving, G1519 so as G3588   G3361 to not G826 shine forth G1473 to them G3588 the G5462 illumination G3588 of the G2098 good news G3588 of the G1391 glory G3588 of the G5547 Christ, G3739 who G1510.2.3 is G1504 image G3588 of the G517 unseen G2316 of God.

If it is possible for the god of this age to blind the thoughts of the unbelieving, it is also possible for the god of this age to blunt the mental discernment or darken the mind of those who claim to be of the Body of Christ. Is it possible that the blunt mental discernment from Satanas along with his thoughts and evil purposes can cause even those who claim that Jesus is Lord to not follow Jesus’ own words as to the greatest commands?

2 Corinthians 11:3 G5399 But I fear, G1161   G3381 perhaps G5613 as G3588 the G3789 serpent G* cheated Eve G1818   G1722 in G3588   G3834 his cleverness, G1473   G3779 so G5351 [2should be corrupted G3588   G3540 1your thoughts] G1473   G575 from G3588 the G572 simplicity, G3588 of the one G1519 in G3588 the G5547 Christ

It is possible for our mind to be spoiled, wasted, or ruined. Eve was wholly seduced. Is it possible for us to be seduced with fears of viruses? Fears of death? Fears of losing one’s job? Eve was seduced with the promise of knowing good and evil like the Elohim. We can be seduced with many things that would waste our thoughts.

2 Corinthians 10: 3 G1722 [3in G4561 4 the flesh G1063 1for G4043 2walking G3756 6not G2596 7according to G4561 8 the flesh G4754 5we soldier],

Even though we conduct our lives in the flesh, we don’t necessarily battle, fight, and war, in the flesh. Yes, professional soldiers do war in the flesh. However everyone must also war downward in the spirit. We fight from heaven down to earth. Normally we do not punch someone in the face who disagrees with us, but the thoughts in our own mind that suggest we punch someone in the face for disagreeing with us is what we war against. If we stop our thoughts that do not align with Jesus’ commands, then we can stop our reaction to those thoughts. We also need to stop feeding the emotional response to those thoughts as well. Stop being emotional about the past, memories don’t need emotions to be rekindled. Be like Mr. Spock and not like Dr. McCoy.

2 Corinthians 10:4 G3588 (for the G1063   G3696 weapons G3588   G4752 of our army G1473   G3756 are not G4559 fleshly, G235 but G1415 mighty G3588   G2316 with God G4314 to G2506 the demolition G3794 of fortresses),

The tools, instruments, and weapons, in our military campaign are not carnal or earthly. However, they are dunatos, powerful, mighty, and strong, from the Elohim, to the destroying and razing of strong defenses. We only get these tools if we are in Christ. Think about it, the enemy builds a stronghold in our mind, it was not raised in a day. Over time, a little brick here, a little mortar there, we have a wall. We live with the assault of thoughts hitting us everyday. Once the fortress is built then we have to tear it down. We can set a stick of dynamite under Satanas’ fortress, but it will be rebuilt if we do not start at the bottom and destroy every brick and every bit of mortar.

Start at the bottom. What was the thought that led to fear? What was the suggestion that led to the incorrect thinking that causes us to deny Jesus’ words regarding the commands? We can start with why we hate our neighbor, but was it something that started before that time? We can start with why we are afraid to get sick, but it is something that started before the point of wearing masks and hiding at home. Whatever prompted that fear, maybe a personal illness or the illness of someone else, there are root thoughts and ideas that started the wall or stronghold. Then, take the emotion out of the thoughts. Make thoughts emotionless. Examine the thoughts logically. Think about all aspects of the subject, and think about other people’s reaction. Do those emotionless thoughts motivate us to react  apart form Jesus’ commands in a poor manner? Do those emotionless thoughts cause us to have to plan or calculate a work-around to Jesus’ commands? Now that the thoughts are emotionless, can we see where they are coming from? We are the solider guarding our own mind, we have every right to interrogate each thought.

We see the actions we must take to combat the strongholds that the enemy attempts to erect in our lives. We take down or destroy, the calculations, the reasonings, and thinking, as well as presumptions that are risen up in us, and come down in front of the knowledge of the Elohim. The thoughts are sometimes reasonings that lead to compromises. The thoughts are sometimes calculations that cause us to scheme for work-arounds to the word of God. This line of thinking is adding bricks and mortar to the enemy’s structure residing in our own mind which then attempts to wall off the knowledge of the Elohim. Can you see it? Every misleading thought is an attempt to build a wall between us and the knowledge of the Elohim. We are told to destroy the wall by capturing every thought. We make every thought obedient to Christ. Every thought has to comply with Christ. Thoughts should not have emotions attached. Every emotionless thought, must submit to Christ; both the first and greatest command and the second great command.

We tell our heart what to think and how to feel after we analyze thoughts and ideas. We decide what thoughts and ideas stay, and what thoughts and ideas leave according to Jesus’ two commands. We are the guardians of our own mind, our own will, and our own emotions. We put every thought in subjection. We do not let the enemy build a wall of misinformation between us and the knowledge of the Elohim.

2 Corinthians 10:6 G2532 and G1722 [2in G2092 3readiness G2192 1having] G1556 to punish G3956 all G3876 disobedience, G3752 whenever G4137 [3should be fulfilled G1473 1your G3588   G5218 2obedience].

“And hold in ready to avenge all disobedience whenever our obedience complete.”

We are to stand “at the ready”, always “on guard” and are never “AWOL”. We are to be prepared for every non-compliant thought that comes at us. We are to push back on everything that attempts to calculate or persuade us away from the knowledge of God. We are not to let the wall be built in our mind. Our thoughts are to align with what Jesus said. Become an avenger. Avenge every disobedient thought with an obedient one. We will have to do this for the rest of our lives so we might as well become good at capturing each and every thought.

Where is our perfect heart? Where is our willing soul? Do our thoughts turn to our past? Do we add emotions to our thoughts? Do we conspire or scheme about ways to subvert the commands that Jesus gave us? Instead, we are the ones at the wheel. Yahweh knows every thought and every idea. Yahweh knows how we respond to every thought and every idea. The war that we are fighting is a wall against the knowledge of the Elohim. Our mental discernment can be blunted or we can stand at the ready. It is up to us to choose. Run to Yahweh.
