The Cycle of the Cosmos; the Lower Air; Jesus Reigns from Cycle to Cycle

Once in a while we stumble across something that causes us to scratch our heads. If we spoke and read fluent Greek, we could read the words people wrote in the New Testament without much question. But since the words written have been translated from Greek, to Latin, to English (or whatever language you may read it) we have to go as far back as possible to the original language it was first written in. We see this case with two words, eon, and cosmos. Sometimes the original word eon is translated “world”, or “ever” (as in “forever”), and “never”, when it should be translated “age” or “cycle of time”.  We have a few instances where these two words eon and cosmos are used in the same sentence and what we find is that there is a cycle of time of the cosmos. If we say “age of the cosmos” we are not talking about how old the cosmos is, we are speaking of a period of time for the cosmos. We will look at what that means as well as look at some of the places where the word world should have been translated age. From Paul’s writings, we also see the devil being mentioned as the ruler of the air, but not all air, just the lower air.

The word eon means “age” and it refers to a cycle of time or a present time period as compared to a future age. The word cosmos means the world or the orderly arrangement. From the Old Testament Greek, cosmos is translated many times as ornament, adornment, or fringe. When we put these two ideas together we have a time period of the orderly arrangement.

The word according should be translated “downward”. We, in the past, walked downward to the cycle of time of the orderly arrangement. Downward as opposed to upward, which would indicate that there is a direction to walk that is downward and a direction to walk that is upward during this age of the cosmos. If one can walk in either direction, as Paul is suggesting, one can turn around from walking downward to walking upward. Who is downward and who is upward? The next phrase uses the same word according that should be translated downward. Downward is the location of the ruler of the exercised authority of the lower air. The contrast of lower air is that the ruler who has authority over the lower air only as opposed to the upper air or atmosphere. This ruler’s authority is limited to the lower air and this ruler is a spirit, like a wind or breath that is presently in action or currently operating within or inside of the sons of willful unbelief or obstinacy. This ruler is not the ruler of the cosmos, as meaning the universe, this ruler only rules the lower air of this world during this cycle of time. That tells us that we had to walk downward to be under his rule, and his rule is exercised in people who are obstinately unbelieving. 

 

During this cycle of time of the cosmos, people can be ruled by the one who rules the lower air. That ruler is the same one Jesus spoke of.

Literally: at this time judgment is of the cosmos, he at this time, the ruler of the cosmos, he banished outside. When this age or cycle is over, the devil will be banished outside the cosmos. We know he will be in the lake of fire at the end of the millennial kingdom, and wherever that lake is, it is outside the cosmos. But for today, the ruler of the cosmos, the devil, is the one judging the cosmos. We know from the Book of Jubilees, satan’s mission is to judge mankind, which is why he uses demons. Once again, when people claim “god” is judging a person or nation, they mean the god of this world, the devil, not Yahweh. Yahweh is not judging anyone or any nation, until the appointed time, but that is another story for a different day. Jesus was putting the pieces in place to take back dominion of the cosmos when he was on the earth, and after walking through the exact process Jesus has sealed the devil’s future. The word cosmos is not the universe, it is the world or the ball we call earth that is adorned and ornamented. We see this word translated ornament or adorning meaning decorated. The earth is decorated with plants, water, rocks, and there are jungles, deserts, and beaches. No other planet in our known realm has been decorated like ours has. What we have to think of when we see the word cosmos is the inhabitable realm we live in. If we went to the moon without a space suit or pressurized space ships, we would die. The cosmos is the adorned realm we can exist in. Therefore, Paul, placing special attention on “the lower air”, is pointing out that this particular ruler is ruling the inhabitable and ornamented area we exist in. The lower air as opposed to the realm where the Father and the Son abide. The realm we live in now is different than the realm the Father and Son inhabit, as we know from Revelation, there are plenty of beings in the heavenly realm, a temple, and various places where those other sons of God abide. Again, Jesus points out the ruler of the ornamented earth:

Literally: the ruler of the world does not possess one thing in me. There was nothing in Jesus that the devil could claim came from him, no evil ways or thoughts, no bad behaviors, no sin. So the devil had nothing he could claim that Jesus did that was attributed to the devil or evil. Again the ruler of the adorned earth, is the devil. If we think this through, we are actually living in a very small place during a specific time period. That is all there is to this earthly existence. Therefore it is beneficial to look ahead, and secure our future in another realm for eternity.

Paul mentions this age or cycle of time and points out that there are rulers, not only one ruler, but several rulers. There is also wisdom in this cycle of time, and Paul is pointing out that our wisdom is not wisdom that comes from this cycle but is from Yahweh’s realm. This was a mystery hidden before the cycle of earth’s time. This gives us a marker for “time” of the age of the earth and the fall of the devil.

The mystery was a hidden wisdom from before the adornment of the earth, and if those rulers of this earth had known, they would not have crucified Jesus. This tells us that the devil fell before the earth was adorned and ornamented. Before the cosmos was decorated, the devil and his followers rebelled against Yahweh. After the earth was adorned, the devil and his followers stole Adam’s rulership and took over the rule of this realm. But if they had known their destiny, if they had recognized what Jesus was doing while on the earth, they would not have killed him. Generally speaking there is an eight thousand year cycle of time for the earth, and that plan was in place before the earth was adorned.

The rulers of this cycle of the earth now have had to trick, confuse, and flat out lie, to the inhabitants of the earth, to get them to do what the devil wants them to do. This is the idea that we make the choice to walk either up or down, as from Ephesians.

The sons of disobedience, unbelieving, and obstinacy, have had their thoughts blinded because of their unbelief, by the god of this time cycle.  And as all of us once walked downward in the age of the earth, the earthly wisdom keeps people bound, whereas the wisdom from the heavenly realm is an illumination, the good news.

Let’s look at some of the ideas regarding the cycle or age of the time. This is not to be confused with the dispensation or administration, as dispensations are times within the age of the cosmos. We want to look at the bigger picture, the ages of the adorned earth.

The Elohim did not want Adam to live into the eon in a fallen state. If Adam had done that, he would have been as far from Elohim as he could possibly be; never seen again. Understand, not only would Adam have died a permanent death, he would not have been resurrected at the end of the age. Yahweh’s first man would have been lost forever. Not only Adam, but all of Adam’s heirs. Remember how Paul told us that this plan for Jesus to rescue us was in place before this age? Yahweh knew Adam’s rulership would be usurped by a wily, deceitful, spiritual being, from a previous age. Not only was the devil and his followers from a previous age, there were others who later changed their habitation, or spiritual bodies, for earthly bodies.

The giants were from the age of the men of renowned. They may have been “men of renown” but they were from the time cycle of the men renowned. Not only do we have the devil and his followers from a previous time cycle, we have other sons of God who came from a previous time cycle, and procreated with earth women, to create a genetically altered group of people on the earth during this time cycle. We know the devil had to blind the minds of the unbelieving and obstinate ones as no one publically or secularly teaches that this happened, even though we can genetically prove it did. Even so, there is a wisdom from below and a wisdom from above, and the way in which one walks determines the wisdom he receives.

Yahweh told Abraham that he would multiply his heirs unto the age. Because of Abraham’s personal relationship with Yahweh, Yahweh was willing to multiply Abraham’s descendants. We know Abraham had 8 sons, and that six went south and one east. Keturah, the mother of six of Abraham’s sons was a Canaanite, a descendant of Ham’s son Canaan and a mixing of the fallen angels from the last time cycle or age.

Abraham was told that his seed would live throughout the earths time cycle, meaning that as long as we are in the age of the earth’s existence, Abraham’s descendants would be living. That is a long span of time and a lot of people. When Yahweh made this declaration, he was not only speaking of the Israelites, he was speaking of all of Abraham’s descendants. The Israelites, from the line of Isaac and Jacob were to teach and instruct the world regarding Yahweh, but all of Abraham’s seed are the ones living throughout this cycle of time.

Looking at the word cosmos, we have the first usage of the word from Genesis.

Here we see the sky (heaven) and the land (earth), the inhabitable regions, were completed and adorned. Notice Moses’ reference to heaven and earth and cosmos, while in modern times we think of cosmos as outer space, regions beyond our planet, the original intent is orderly arrangement, and decoration of the heaven and earth. Jesus adds to this understanding, when he is praying

John 17:5G2532And G3568now G1392[²glorify G1473³me G1473¹you], G3962O father, G3844with G4572[³of yourself G3588¹the G1391²glory]! G3739which G2192I had G4253[³before G3588 G3588⁴the G2889⁵world G1510.1⁶being in existence G3844¹with G1473²you]

Here Jesus mentions the glory he had before he came to the inhabitable cosmos when he was with the Father. That is an interesting point, there is another realm where Jesus dwelt in glory, and then he came into our realm to rescue us and did not have his glory. Once he left our realm he regained his glory.

The writer of Hebrews tells us how perfect Jesus’ sacrifice was. Remember it was a plan before the age began. Now the writer of Hebrews mentions that if it was a temporary kind of sacrifice it would have had to have been repeated from the founding of the cosmos. Instead Jesus didn’t have to suffer and die over and over, but only once.

Remember a few weeks ago we looked at the word sunteleia, the completion (the end of the dog’s tail as compared to the dog’s tail). Sunteleia is the completion of the eon, and at the completion of the eon he has made an annulment or cancelation of sin. We see that by his physical sinless sacrifice, he is able to cancel the sins of all humans through to the end of the age. Jesus didn’t just die for the sins of us now, but for the sins of all humans up to the end of the cycle of time. Now that is a perfect sacrifice! Now we have a chance to live in the eon.

This is a great verse and we will note something that looks like a reason some translators decided to change the word eon to world shortly. But what we see here is that even when the cosmos passes away, and the longing of the world we know of is gone, the ones who do the will of Yahweh remain into the cycle of time. We know that “time” does not stop, it continues, but cycles end and begin again. The end of the earth cycle will come to pass at the sunteleia, the completion of the age, and the beginning of the new cycle is the New Heaven and New Earth. So even when the earth ceases to exist, some people will continue into the new cycle of time.

So why did translators change the word for eon to world? It would seem that they may have had an inclination that when the world ends another one would come into being. Here when we look at the subject of the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, we see that the translators assumed we would understand that the world has a time cycle and speaking against the Spirit would cause us to remain unforgiven into the next world. We are really speaking of time cycles, let’s note this verse.  

Matt 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. KJV

Jesus said that there is no forgiveness for blasphemy in this present age or in the one about to come. Jesus was explaining that the age would end and then there would be another cycle of time. Again as recorded in Mark:

Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: KJV

Here we see that the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit means unforgiveness for this cycle of time, and is liable for unforgiveness in the next cycle of time. Someone left out the phrase “into the eon”. The word eternal means lasting for an age. Judgment will last into the next time cycle of time for blasphemy. The translators must have equated the end of the world with the end of the time cycle. Next Jesus’ last recorded words from Matthew have been translated world instead of eon.

Jesus said he was with us until the sunteleia, the complete completion of the time cycle. The problem with changing the word eon to world is that people are always looking for an event to end the world, like a natural disaster. All the Chicken Little’s cry about the end of the world, but really there is a continuation into the next age if one shores up his/her destiny. If the age rolls into another age, even if the cosmos ends, a new one begins. Once this time cycle is over there will be another time cycle. Now when we hear about the end of the world from people who like to incite fear into us we need to question if they are speaking about the end of the time cycle. 

Here is an example of the translators using the word never for eon.  

John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? KJV

The way the translators translated this verse doesn’t explain that we are speaking of the age. People’s belief systems influenced the translation as people think as soon as one dies he goes to heaven. We know from many hours of study that we go to paradise until the time Jesus comes and calls us. While we do not die, we will live into the next time cycle. Remember that at the harpazo all of us who believe on Jesus as Messiah whether we are in paradise or on earth will be called up to Heaven. Jesus will meet us in the lower air.

Before we end the cycle of the cosmos a few extra events have to happen. The harpazo is the first of those events. We meet the Lord in the lower air. Jesus comes into the lower air to call us, the realm of the prince of the power of the lower air.  After that happens Jesus will be commissioned to take back the cosmos, but the end of the cycle of time is not yet. Once commissioned, he will reign into the eons.

The kingdom of the cosmos becomes Jesus’ and He will reign into the eons of eons. For the rest of this cycle of time into the next cycle of time, Jesus will reign. He will take back the rule of the world before the end of the cycle of the age is over. He will reign for the last thousand years of this earth cycle and then reign over the next cycle of time.

As we have seen, eons seem to include three definite cycles of time, the age of the men of renown, the present cycle of time under the devil’s rule, and the future cycle. The adorned earth exists in this time cycle. Sometimes the translators attributed the end of the age to the end of the adorned world. For this time cycle, since the time of Adam, the devil is the ruler of the decorated earth. The plan was for Jesus to rescue the cosmos before the end of this cycle of time. The fallen angels entered into our cycle of time and procreated. Abraham’s heirs are going to continue to proliferate throughout this time cycle. And anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven in this age or the next one. And those who believe on Jesus as Messiah will live into the next cycle of time. But before the end of this cycle of time the living and dead who believe Jesus is Messiah will meet Him in the lower air. Jesus will be crowned and reign through the rest of this cycle of time and the next cycle of time. If we believe on Jesus, we will live into the next age. This is our time to prepare for the next cycle of time.
