There are stars and then there are stars. Sometimes stars are gaseous heavenly bodies, sometimes they are angels. Jesus told us that the stars in his right hand were angels. Why did people associate stars with angels? The people of the first century and prior had either read or heard the Book of Enoch read in the synagogues. Enoch associates the heavenly bodies and stars with the functions of the angels. The idea that Enoch is communicating is that the number of angels is like the number of stars, and angels are managing the heavens making sure that things function properly. Somehow mankind has believed the lie that outer space is random and has no management. That is untrue. The people of the first century recognized the mistakes their forefathers made in worshipping angels, stars, and other spiritual beings. There are some stars with names and functions during the tribulation. And we will see Enoch’s view of the fallen angels as well as those who manage the heavenly bodies and keep time.

The seven stars are the seven angels of the seven assemblies. These are the seven assemblies that John will write letters to. This does not mean that there are only seven angels over the churches. There are angels who are over each church. Each church is like a golden lamp-stand. What are angels/messengers doing at the churches? We can see what was happening just before the glory left the temple.
Ezekiel 9:1 And he cried in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, The judgment of the city has drawn nigh; and each had the weapons of destruction in his hand. 2 And, behold, six men came from the way of the high gate that looks toward the north, and each one’s axe was in his hand; and there was one man in the midst of them clothed with a long robe down to the feet, and a sapphire girdle was on his loins: and they came in and stood near the brazen altar. 3 And the glory of the God of Israel, that was upon them, went up from the cherubs to the porch of the house.
And he called the man that was clothed with the long robe, who had the girdle on his loins; 4 And said to him, Go through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that groan and that grieve for all the iniquities that are done in the midst of them. 5 And he said to the first in my hearing, Go after him into the city, and smite: and let not your eyes spare, and have no mercy. 6 Slay utterly old man and youth, and virgin, and infants, and women: but go ye not nigh any on whom is the mark: begin at my sanctuary. http://ecmarsh.com/lxx/Jezekiel/index.htm
Angels came to Jerusalem wearing a sapphire belt and an axe. Some translations in verses 2 use the word “writing kit” instead of “axe”, but the Greek notes axe. The word for man, means “male”, which is different than manfaced. The idea is that they are males, not necessarily human, like manfaced, although they look like men. These males are marking the people who are grieved for the condition of Jerusalem and they are to kill everyone without a mark. We can see that they have a directive. When judgment comes, they are to make sure that the just are marked. They are keeping track of people. They are protecting the righteous who mourn. They are recording the things that go on in the temple/church. The seven messages are for all of us. They are a warning and an encouragement. An angel is observing and recording the events in the churches. Angels are over churches for lots of reasons, but first and foremost they know every detail of what goes on within the group.
Just as John prostrated himself before the Lord when he saw him, we see stars prostrate themselves as well.
Revelation 6:13 G2532 and G3588 the G792 stars G3588 of the G3772 heaven G4098 fell G1519 unto G3588 the G1093 earth, G5613 as G4808 a fig-tree G906 casts G3588 G3653 its immature figs G1473 G5259 [2by G3173 3a great G417 4wind G4579 1being shaken].
Just like figs that get blown off a tree, the stars of heaven prostrate. Imagine the wind of the Holy Spirit blowing by and the stars all bow at the sight of the Father and the Son. Physical shooting stars will not fall to earth, they would burn up in the atmosphere. What is happening here? The sixth seal has been opened and the sun becomes black and the moon turns red like blood. The heaven rolls back like a scroll and all the mountains and islands are moved. The people are in great fear because they see the Father on his throne and the wrath of the Lamb. It is no wonder that the angels would fall prostrate. They will see what all humans will see. We might think that the angels are always in the presence of the Father, but they are not. They have jobs and duties, and not all angels visit the Father and Son in the heavens.
Revelation 8:10 G2532 And G3588 the G5154 third G32 angel G4537 trumped; G2532 and G4098 [3fell G1537 4from out of G3588 5the G3772 6heaven G792 2star G3173 1a great], G2545 burning G5613 as G2985 a lamp, G2532 and G4098 it fell G1909 upon G3588 the G5154 third G3588 of the G4215 rivers, G2532 and G1909 upon G3588 the G4077 springs G3588 of the G5204 waters.
If a star fell, it would not only poison rivers and springs, it would destroy the earth. Stars are gaseous not solid. Yet if an angel fell it could be as specific as it needed to be, to poison rivers and springs.
Revelation 8:11 G2532 And G3588 the G3686 name G3588 of the G792 star G3004 is called G3588 G894 Absinthium; G2532 and G1096 [5became G3588 1the G5154 2third G3588 3of the G5204 4waters] G1519 into G894 absinthium, G2532 and G4183 many G3588 of the G444 men G599 died G1537 because of G3588 the G5204 waters, G3754 for G4087 they were made bitter.
The star has a name. Absinthium is a bitter used in vermouth. Absinthium is called wormwood and can be used medicinally for healing of parasites. However in high doses it causes convulsions and death. If the water becomes undrinkable that will be a difficult time. The only way for one third of all the fresh water on earth to become poisoned with absinthium is if an angel does it.
Revelation 9:1 G2532 And G3588 the G3991 fifth G32 angel G4537 trumped; G2532 and G1492 I saw G792 a star G1537 [2from out of G3588 3the G3772 4heaven G4098 1falling] G1519 unto G3588 the G1093 earth; G2532 and G1325 was given G1473 to him G3588 the G2807 key G3588 of the G5421 well G3588 of the G12 abyss.
The star that falls here is given a key to the bottomless pit. That tells us that the bottomless pit or abyss is here on the earth. This star is considered a “him”, meaning a person not an it. It has keys and opens the well of the abyss so that locusts come out.
Revelation 12:4 G2532 And G3588 G3769 his tail G1473 G4951 drags G3588 the G5154 third G3588 of the G792 stars G3588 of the G3772 heaven, G2532 and G906 he casts G1473 them G1519 to G3588 the G1093 earth. There was a time when one third of the angels aligned with the devil and thus there is a time when these angels will be cast out of the heaven along with the devil and the satan.
Revelation 12:9 G2532 And G906 [4was cast out G3588 1the G1404 3dragon G3588 G3173 2great], G3588 the G3789 [2serpent G3588 G744 1ancient], G3588 the one G2564 being called G1228 the devil G2532 and G4567 Satan; G3588 the one G4105 misleading G3588 the G3611 [2inhabitable world G3650 1entire] G906 was cast G1519 unto G3588 the G1093 earth, G2532 and G3588 G32 his angels G1473 G3326 [2with G1473 3him G906 1were cast].
When the angels who align with the devil are thrown to earth with the devil and the satan, all humans will know. There will be a shaking on the earth and people will feel the spiritual pressure. Yet Jesus overcame these fallen spiritual beings, so understand that the people left on the earth at this time have rejected Jesus. We who have accepted Jesus as our Lord and believe that he rose up on the third day have Christ in us and could overcome these fallen beings. These beings may use deceit and trickery, but we would have the eyes of the Holy Spirit to see through their lies. Notice what Paul tells us.
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

In verse 18 the KJV says “worshipping of angels”; don’t be beguiled into worshipping angels. But the Greek says “judge against you” into the religion of angels.

To be “beguiled” or “defrauded” into losing rewards is accurate, but it is also accurate to say “judge against you”. The idea is to be awarded the price against us for doing something wrong. “Worshipping angels” is accurate but so is “religion of angels”. It is always a bad idea to worship angels, but it is also a bad idea to follow a religion of angels. Let’s think about this. People make up their own religious practices. Some worship Baal, some worship Molech, some worship Lucifer, and so on. But all of these religious practices have a root in misinformation. Why are people worshipping lesser gods? Why would anyone think that worshipping a fallen being is a good idea? Deception runs deep. Sometimes people believe that these fallen beings possess some power that they are willing to give to their followers. They do possess some power, but not much power. What they possess is sleight of hand, cunning, or a PT Barnum effect, such as broad intuitions that can apply to many people. In other words, they know how to fool people.
When we hear of “important” people who worship the satan or the devil, we think they must know something we don’t, but in reality, they are only living for what the god of this world will give them now. They are not concerned with eternity.
When the Northern Kingdom falls, we see it is because they started worshipping the wrong things.
2Ki 17:16 (Brenton) They forsook the commandments of the Lord their God, and made themselves graven images, even two heifers, and they made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
2Ki 17:17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divinations and auspices, and sold themselves to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him.
Think about what this looked like. There were people doing all kinds of strange things. Where did they come up with these ideas? Seducing spirits and doctrines of Demons.
Manasseh leads the southern kingdom astray. They are doing the same things as the Northern kingdom, but they are doing it in the temple.
2Ki 21:3 (Brenton) And he built again the high places, which Ezekias his father had demolished; and set up an altar to Baal, and made groves as Achaab king of Israel made them; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
2Ki 21:4 And he built an altar in the house of the Lord, whereas he had said, In Jerusalem I will place my name.
2Ki 21:5 And he built an altar to all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.
2Ki 21:6 And he caused his sons to pass through the fire, and used divination and auspices, and made groves, and multiplied wizards, so as to do that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
2Ki 21:7 And he set up the graven image of the grove in the house of which the Lord said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I even place my name for ever.
Again speaking of Manasseh.
2Ch 33:3 (Brenton) And he returned and built the high places, which his father Ezekias had pulled down, and set up images to Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

2Ch 33:6 He also passed his children through the fire in the valley of Benennom; and he divined, and used auspices, and sorceries, and appointed those who had divining spirits, and enchanters, and wrought abundant wickedness before the Lord, to provoke him.
2Ch 33:7 And he set the graven image, the molten statue, the idol which he made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name for ever;
During the time of Josiah, Judah was warned. But it doesn’t seem like they really cared to change.

Zep 1:5 and them that worship the host of heaven upon the house-tops; and them that worship and swear by the Lord, and them that swear by their king;
Zep 1:6 and them that turn aside from the Lord, and them that seek not the Lord, and them that cleave not to the Lord.
Because they worshipped lesser gods and false deities, both the northern and southern kingdom went into captivity. This is a religion of angels and the worshipping of angels. Notice what Stephen says.
Act 7:42 (Murdock) And God turned away, and gave them up to worship the hosts of heaven: as it is written in the book of the prophets: Did ye, for forty years, in the wilderness, present to me a slain animal or a sacrifice, ye sons of Israel?
Act 7:43 But ye bore the tabernacle of Malchum, and the star of the god Rephon, images which ye had made, that ye might bow down to them. I will transport you beyond Babylon.
Stephen points out that their forefathers named the cherubim on the ark and worshipped them.
Amo 5:25 (Brenton) Have ye offered to me victims and sacrifices, O house of Israel, forty years in the wilderness?
Amo 5:26 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Raephan, the images of them which ye made for yourselves.
What we see is that even in the wilderness the Israelites didn’t keep to the commandments but instead named the two cherubim Moloch and Chiun, or Sakkuth and Kaiwan. They then brought what they wanted for offerings (I don’t remember that from the movie The Ten Commandments.). Where did they bring these offerings? To the tent that housed the two cherubim that sat upon the mercy seat, the Holy of Holies. Moloch was the national deity of the Ammonites, the ones who helped build the temple. Moloch or Molech or Milcom was the god that people passed their seed through the fire. Chiun, also known as Rephan in Egypt, was also a god of sacrificing children. Both Moloch and Chiun were named as gods of planets. Moloch was Jupiter, and Chiun was Saturn. There is a twenty year cycle when these two planets align in conjunction and look like one. Notice in Amos 5:26 the star (singular) of your elohim (gods). Every twenty years these two planets look like one star. Ezekiel explains why Yahweh allowed this.
We need to look at some of the things that Enoch told us, as this is the knowledge that people had.
Enoch 18:10 And I saw a great abyss of the earth, with pillars of heavenly fire, and I saw among them fiery pillars of Heaven, which were falling, 11 And as regards both height and depth, they were immeasurable. 12 And beyond that abyss I saw a place which had no firmament of heaven above, and no firmly founded earth beneath it: there was no water on it, and no birds, 13 But it was a desert and a horrible place. I saw there seven stars like great burning mountains, 14 And an angel questioned me regarding them. The angel said: 'This place is the end of heaven and earth. 15 This has become a prison for the stars and the host of heaven. And the stars which roll over the fire are they which have transgressed the commandment of the Lord in the beginning of their rising, because they did not come out at their proper times.16 And He was angry with them, and bound them until the time when their guilt should be consummated even for ten thousand years.'
Enoch 19:1 And Uriel said to me: 'The angels who have had sex with women shall stand here, and their spirits, having assumed many different forms, are defiling mankind and shall lead them astray into sacrificing to demons as gods, here shall they stand, until the day of the great judgment in which they shall be judged and are made an end of.
Lumpkin, Joseph. Enoch, Jubilees, Jasher: Banned from the Bible (p. 30). Fifth Estate. Kindle Edition.
If we have read the Letter of Aristeas we understand that symbolism was meant to teach people a literal understanding. It was not figurative or non-literal. In other words, by explaining the behaviors of unclean animals we have a literal picture of how people are not to behave. The stars and the host of heavens are obviously beings not planetary bodies. There is a desert place, which is a prison, for the disobedient ones.
The angels that did not perform their functions properly and the angels that fell will both reside here. Notice what Uriel says, the angels that are defiling mankind, leading mankind astray into sacrificing to demons as if they are gods, are there awaiting the great day of judgment. Now we understand why people kept getting deceived into worshipping angels or practicing a religion of angels.
Enoch explains a few other things and then comes back to this point. There will be punishment for 10,000 years.
Enoch 21:1 Then, I proceeded to where things were chaotic and void. 2 And I saw there something horrible: I saw neither a heaven above nor a firmly founded earth, but a place chaotic and horrible. 3 And there I saw seven stars of heaven bound together in it, like great mountains and burning with fire. 4 Then I said: 'For what sin are they bound, and on why have they been cast in here?' 5 Then said Uriel, one of the holy angels, who was with me, and was chief over them: 'Enoch, why do you ask, and why are you eager for the truth? 6 These are some of the stars of heaven, which have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and are bound here until ten thousand years, the time entailed by their sins, are consummated.'

The transgressing angels, the stars of heaven, are bound in this place. Enoch now explains Yahweh’s calendar. There are leaders over the creation and over the stars. Those luminaries perform a function.
Enoch 75:1 And the leaders of the heads of the (ten) thousands, who are in charge of the whole creation and over all the stars, have also to do with the four days of the year which are not counted in the yearly calendar, being not separated from their office, according to the reckoning of the year, and these render service on the four days which are not counted in the reckoning of the year. 2 And because of them men go wrong in them, for those luminaries truly render service to the stations of the world, one in the first door, one on the third door of heaven, one in the fourth door, and one in the sixth door, and the exactness of the year is accomplished through its separate three hundred and sixty-four stations.

The understanding of four intercalary days in the year is what throws off our calendar. This is how men go astray, by not understanding the calendar and by changing to a lunar calendar. Each year starts on the Wednesday after the vernal equinox, just as on the fourth day the lights of heaven were created. If the equinox occurs on a Monday, then Wednesday is the first of the year. If the equinox is on a Thursday, then the next Wednesday is the first of the year. Those in-between days are also intercalary days. Each quarter has the first month of 30 days, the second month of 30 days and the third month of 31 days. The 31st day is an intercalary day. This day is a holiday or a non-work day. Therefore the year consists of 360 days, plus 4 intercalary days. The adjustment is not in a leap year it is in the start of the year, the first day being on Wednesday. This is the solar calendar mankind was told to keep. If we calculate Daniels calendar on a 360 day year we come up with the exact date that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.
Enoch now explains the fallen angels as stars.
Enoch 86:1 And again I looked with my eyes as I slept, and I saw the heaven above, and behold a star fell from heaven, and it arose and ate and pastured among those oxen (bulls). 2 And after that I saw the large and the black oxen (bulls), and behold they all changed their stalls and pastures and their heifers (cattle) , and began to live with each other. 3 And again I saw in the vision, and looked towards heaven, and behold I saw many stars descend and cast themselves down from heaven to that first star, and they became bulls among those cattle and pastured with them. 4 And I looked at them and saw they all let out their private (sexual) members, like horses, and began to mount the cows of the bulls (oxen), and they all became pregnant and bore elephants, camels, and asses.

Notice in this passage that the oxen/bulls were the stars and the heifer/cows were the earth women. The idea here is that there is a similar species but of a different kind that impregnated another species. That means that their offspring are also of a different kind, similar but still different. All the animals are warm blooded, they are similar in that manner but look different. There were oxen, and heifers. The combining of those two species made some elephants, some camels, and some donkeys. In other words the cohabitating of the two made some large humans, some medium humans, and some small humans. Now those offspring will fight each other.
Enoch 88:1 And I saw one of those four who had come out first, and he seized that first star which had fallen from heaven, and bound it hand and foot and cast it into an abyss; now that abyss was narrow and deep, and horrible and dark. 2 And one of them drew a sword, and gave it to those elephants and camels and asses then they began to smite each other, and the whole earth shook because of them. 3 And as I was beholding in the vision one of those four who had come out stoned them from heaven, and gathered and took all the great stars whose private (sexual) members were like those of horses, and bound them all hand and foot, and threw them in an abyss of the earth.

The archangels came and took the great stars and imprisoned them. The first star was bound in the abyss, then the rest were bound in the abyss. Now let’s fast forward to the end of the tribulation.
Enoch 90:19 And I saw until a great sword was given to the sheep, and the sheep proceeded against all the beasts of the field to slay them, and all the beasts and the birds of the heaven fled before their face. And I saw that man, who wrote the book according to the command of the Lord, until he opened that book concerning the destruction which those twelve last shepherds had wrought, and showed that they had destroyed much more than their predecessors, before the Lord of the sheep. And I saw until the Lord of the sheep came to them and took in His hand the staff of His wrath, and smote the earth, and the earth clave asunder, and all the beasts and all the birds of heaven fell from among those sheep, and were swallowed up in the earth and it covered them. 20 And I saw until a throne was erected in the pleasant land, and the Lord of the sheep sat Himself on it, and the other took the sealed books and opened those books before the Lord of the sheep.21 And the Lord called those men, the seven first white ones, and commanded that they should bring before Him, beginning with the first star which led the way, all the stars whose private members were like those of horses, and they brought them all before Him. 22 And He said to that man who wrote before Him, being one of those seven white ones, and said to him: 'Take those seventy shepherds to whom I delivered the sheep, and who taking them on their own authority slew more than I commanded them.' 23 And behold they were all bound, I saw, and they all stood before Him. 24 And the judgment was held first over the stars, and they were judged and found guilty, and went to the place of condemnation, and they were cast into an abyss, full of fire and flaming, and full of pillars of fire.

As we know from the prophet Joel, there will be an end to the Nephilim and their heirs.
There will be an end to the age of the mixed races on the earth. The mixed races who tormented Israel and the nations will be bound at the end of the tribulation.
In another writing of Enoch’s we see that the angels are the ones ruling the stars and their services in heaven.
Secrets of Enoch 4:1 They brought before my face the elders and rulers of the stellar orders, and showed me two hundred angels, who rule the stars and (their) services to the heavens, and fly with their wings and come round all those who sail.

Enoch gives us another example of how angels and other heavenly sons of God are keeping things in order.
Secrets of Enoch 11:1 Those men took me, and led me up on to the fourth heaven, and showed me all the successive goings, and all the rays of the light of sun and moon. 2 And I measure their goings, and compared their light, and saw that the sun’s light is greater than the moon’s. 3 Its circle and the wheels on which it goes always, like the wind going past with very marvellous speed, and day and night it has no rest. 4 Its passage and return (are accompanied by) four great stars, (and) each star has under it a thousand stars, to the right of the sun’s wheel, (and by) four to the left, each having under it a thousand stars, altogether eight thousand, issuing with the sun continually. 5 And by day fifteen myriads of angels attend it, and by night A thousand. 6 And six-winged ones issue with the angels before the sun’s wheel into the fiery flames, and a hundred angels kindle the sun and set it alight.

We now can make sense of Israel’s descent into the worshipping of stars, planets, and the heavenly host as this was due to Israel being misled by fallen angels. Enoch told us about the angels managing the heavenly bodies. He also let us know that they are like stars. This is the understanding that Jesus gave us regarding the angels of the churches. When heavenly stars fall it is not the gaseous bodies that fall, it is the angels that prostrate and fall before the Father and Son. Paul warns us not to fall into the trap of worshipping stars or the religion of angels. While it might seem confusing to call angels stars, we see that it has it’s roots in ancient writ so as to communicate functions and management of the heavens so that we do not fall for the lie of random heavenly bodies rotating, exploding, and imploding in space as if there is no heavenly ordinal arrangement. There is an angelic management team.
