The great judgment day has come. At this point in time it makes no difference what people’s opinions are regarding judgment, everyone who has not been judged will be judged as to their works and deeds. There will be billions of people judged at this time as to what is written in two different scrolls. It is possible to be erased from a scroll as Jesus says. The second death is taking place at this time and the sea (apart from death and Hades) contains some of the dead. Then there will be a new heaven and earth.
In reviewing the historical timeline, we have just finished the battle of Gog and Magog, which comes after the Millennial Reign of Jesus. The satan that led the nations to come against Israel was thrown into the lake of fire. There is another period after these events and we are unclear just how long it lasts, but we know that it will take seven years to melt down all the weapons, and seven months to bury all the bones in Hamon-gog. It seems that when Jesus’ glory is seen and made known, then Jacob’s heirs will understand that they were the ones who annulled the covenant with Him. The very next thing that John tells us is that he sees a great white throne for judgment.
Revelation 20:11-15 (KJV)
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

John says that heaven and earth fled from the face of the Lord. What John seems to be saying is that at this white throne he doesn’t see heaven or earth. Where is this white throne? We might surmise somewhere other than earth, and somewhere other than heaven. Is it a place above the clouds or below the earth? We don’t know. We do know that heaven and earth run away from the visage of the Lord. We also know there is no place found, recognized, or detected for heaven and earth. In other words, after searching, the heaven and the earth are gone. John does see a lot of people. Not the harpazo’d saints or the martyrs, but great people and lowly people.

Revelation 3:5 (AMP)
5 Thus shall he who conquers (is victorious) be clad in white garments, and I will not erase or blot out his name from the Book of Life; I will acknowledge him [as Mine] and I will confess his name openly before My Father and before His angels.
As the church in Sardis was scolded because they were not teaching active and open confession of Jesus as Lord, we see that there is a warning that people may be erased from the book of life. We must take this seriously as none of us are above this church. We must teach open confession of Jesus, but also that it is possible to be erased if one renounces that confession of Jesus as Lord. Notice David’s prayer/song.
Psalm 69:28 (AMP)
28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living and the book of life and not be enrolled among the [uncompromisingly] righteous (those upright and in right standing with God).
David sees his enemies and oppressors as people who should be blotted out of the book of the living and the book of life. Paul’s letter to Titus tells us more.
Titus 1:15-16 (AMP)
15 To the pure [in heart and conscience] all things are pure, but to the defiled and corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure; their very minds and consciences are defiled and polluted.
16 They profess to know God [to recognize, perceive, and be acquainted with Him], but deny and disown and renounce Him by what they do; they are detestable and loathsome, unbelieving and disobedient and disloyal and rebellious, and [they are] unfit and worthless for good work (deed or enterprise) of any kind.
The defiled, corrupt, and unbelieving, deny, disown, and renounce Jesus by their works and deeds. In our age this is possible. This is why there will be people before the great judgment seat. This is the time period when they will face Jesus.

There are a few distortions to the idea of scribe angels in the Masoretic Text that do not bear up with the Septuagint. It is/was a Talmudic and Kabbalistic tradition that there was a scribe angel named Metatron. This is why there are a few distortions in Ezekiel 9 to suggest the belt of the angel is somehow an inkwell. While the angels were to mark the people who mourned for the temple, there are no words used for ink bottle or inkwell. Those marked were protected in the second wave of captivity. This is similar to the 144,000 who are marked, they are marked for good so as not to be harmed. However, the Bible does tell us about winged creatures who carry our words, the away messenger. Even though the Bible does not tell us that there are angels scribing our words, there are obviously angels scribing our deeds and works.

ᾅδης
hadēs hah'-dace From G1 (as a negative particle) and G1492; properly unseen, that is, “Hades” or the place (state) of departed souls KJV Usage: grave, hell.
The word “sea” literally means a salt sea. It is sometimes translated as “west” which if we look at what is west of Israel, it is the sea. There are references to a sea of glass before the throne where the martyrs who overcome the beast are standing with harps (Revelation 4:6 and 15:2). Yet John does not call this a sea of glass. The people who were living at the end of the Millennial reign die, but do not go to death or Hades, they can only be in the “sea”. As an adult, we are comprised of 70% water. We also have many types of salts in our body which make up around .4 percent of the body’s weight. This is about equivalent to the chemical make up of sea water. Since we just saw the heaven and earth flee from the face of the Lord on the throne, there is something about the change the living people at the end of the Millennial reign go through. They didn’t die prior to the white throne judgment, so they were not in death or Hades. They were on the earth and their physical bodies, fairly similar to the sea, change or maybe liquify, then their spirit and soul comes out of the sea. In a figurative way they are a sea of humanity but literally they were transformed to be able to stand at the white throne, as if their bodies were shed, or liquified, in the sea, and now their spirit and soul stand before the Lord. Remember that there is no more earth or the heavens above the earth, they are gone. What is left is a sea, death, and Hades.
Wherever the rest of the dead might be, in death, or in Hades, the people rise. What we know about the compartment in Hades (as Jesus told us), is that it is where Abraham’s bay or creek was located. It is the place that the righteous saints were awaiting the coming of Jesus to set the captives free and take them to paradise. There was a great chasm between Hades and Abraham’s bay, and Hades was hot while Abraham’s bay had water. Jesus took back the keys to death and Hades when he died and rose.
Revelation 1:18 G2532 and G3588 the G2198 living one, G2532 and G1096 I became G3498 dead, G2532 and G2400 behold G2198 I am living G1510.2.1 G1519 into G3588 the G165 eons G3588 of the G165 eons. G281 Amen. G2532 And G2192 I have G3588 the G2807 keys G3588 G2288 of death G2532 and G3588 G86 of Hades.
Jesus has the keys today, which means whoever dies goes through Jesus. There are dead souls who’ve been waiting for the end of the age since the time of Adam and Eve. Cain probably did not join those who went into paradise. Nimrod probably did not go to paradise either. The point being is that there are a lot of people that have to be judged for their works. The question is, whose works can save them? We really do not know. One book is for peoples’ works, and one book is the book of life. Then when all the dead have been given over from death and Hades, both death and Hades are eliminated.

Death and Hades are thrown into the lake of fire where the satan was thrown, as well as the beast and the false prophet. Now people who are not in the book of life are thrown into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:15 G2532 And G1536 if any G3756 should not G2147 be found G1722 [2in G3588 3the G976 4book G3588 G2222 5of life G1125 1written] G906 he was cast G1519 into G3588 the G3041 lake G3588 G4442 of fire.
Imagine going through billions of people, checking to see who is in the books, and if one is not in the book of life, or has been erased from the book of life, that one is cast into the lake of fire. At this point we do not know what the harpazo’d saints or the martyred saints are doing as both have already been judged and are already in new bodies. Our next event is a new heaven and a new earth.

The old heaven and earth perish. Oddly, the sea is mentioned separately and the sea is no more. What is it about the sea that makes it distinct as compared to earth? Again the word sea is a literal “salt sea”, the salt sea ceases to exist.
If we remember, the disciples asked Jesus about this time of the new heaven and new earth. They asked Jesus three questions. They were admiring the buildings in temple and Jesus told them that not one stone would be left upon another. Today, not one temple stone is left upon another. The partially rebuilt wall we have left that is called the wailing wall is actually part of the Fortress Antonia, not the original Solomon built temple. Jesus did not make a mistake. The disciples asked three questions. Question one was: “When would the temple be destroyed?” Question two was: “What would be the sign of His coming? And question three was: “What would be the sign of the end of the world?” Do not read this section in Matthew without understanding the three questions.
Matthew 24:2-3 (KJV)
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
As Jesus and the disciples are conversing, Matthew is taking notes. He doesn’t add in all the questions Jesus was asked but assumed the reader would understand the way Jesus was answering the questions as to which question was being answered. Jesus gives the longest answer to the immediate future for them, and then secondly gives the next longest answer to the parousia. Jesus gives a rather short answer to the question of the new heaven and new earth.
Matthew 24:35-36 (KJV)
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
That is the answer. The Millennial Kingdom on the earth will last over one thousand years. After one thousand years the satan is loosed, the nations are deceived into participating in the battle of Magog. Fire comes down from heaven consuming the nations and the satan is thrown into the lake of fire. Then it will take time to bury the bodies, and burn the weapons. The Bible tells us seven years. The Millennial Reign establishes Jesus as the Lord and Savior of Israel. They will then see His glory and recognize that they were the one’s who annulled the covenant with Him. Therefore the Millennial Reign is one thousand years, plus seven, plus whatever the Father says. No man and no angel know, neither does Jesus. The Father is the only one who knows the day and the hour. This is why there are no further prophecies as to the timing of this new heaven and earth. We know that Jesus will subdue all enemies, which also may mean that however long it takes for the judgment of the white throne, is time also added to the one thousand years, plus seven.
1 Corinthians 15:24-26 (AMP)
24 After that comes the end (the completion), when He delivers over the kingdom to God the Father after rendering inoperative and abolishing every [other] rule and every authority and power.
25 For [Christ] must be King and reign until He has put all [His] enemies under His feet.
26 The last enemy to be subdued and abolished is death.
The enemy, death, is thrown into the lake of fire. Then after that time, the Father will decide when the new heaven and new earth is ready.
Isaiah told us about the New Heaven and Earth. In context the Lord is saying that he came to people who were not Jacob’s heirs. The Lord mentions all the defiled sins the heirs of Jacob had committed. The Lord says a seed that comes forth from Jacob will inherit Zion and His elect servants will live there.
Isaiah 65:13 Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall hunger: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall thirst: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed: 14 behold, my servants shall exult with joy, but ye shall cry for the sorrow of your heart, and shall howl for the vexation of your spirit. 15 For ye shall leave your name for a loathing to my chosen, and the Lord shall destroy you: but my servants shall be called by a new name, 16 which shall be blessed on the earth; for they shall bless the true God: and they that swear upon the earth shall swear by the true God; for they shall forget the former affliction, it shall not come into their mind.
The Lord’s servants will be called by a new name. They will have joy in the Millennial Kingdom. They will be blessed and forget the former affliction.
Isaiah 65:17 For there shall be a new heaven and a new earth: and they shall not at all remember the former, neither shall they at all come into their mind.
The people that live on the holy mountain and live during the Millennial Kingdom will move on to the new heaven and new earth. But before that they will find joy and exultation in Jerusalem.
Isaiah 65:18 But they shall find in her joy and exultation; for, behold, I make Jerusalem a rejoicing, and my people a joy. 19 And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and will be glad in my people: and there shall no more be heard in her the voice of weeping, or the voice of crying. http://ecmarsh.com/lxx/Esaias/index.htm
The Millennial Kingdom will be a wonderful place for the servants of Jesus who came from a seed of Jacob; not all of Jacob’s seed, but one seed from Jacob and Judah (v9). They will live in a special place where the Lord will answer before they are able to finish the question. The wolves and lambs will live together and no one will die early.
Isaiah goes on in the next chapter to talk about the birth of the nation. Just as there is a process in birthing a child there is a process in birthing a nation. But in the process Israel forgot the Lord. On the Day of the Lord, people will see His glory. Then people will establish Jerusalem and bring sacrifices to the house of the Lord. Then the Lord says this:
Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heaven and the new earth, which I make, remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name continue.
The new heaven and new earth remains before Him. He is making them. The vision, the building, and the plans are in front of His face. There will be Jacob’s seed in the new heaven and new earth and their name will continue. Isaiah then says that in the Millennial Kingdom people will come to worship Him.
Isaiah 66:23 And it shall come to pass from month to month, and from sabbath to sabbath, that all flesh shall come to worship before me in Jerusalem, saith the Lord. 24 And they shall go forth, and see the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, and their fire shall not be quenched; and they shall be a spectacle to all flesh.
Notice the Lord mentions the valley where Gog and his armies will be slain and buried. Ezekiel mentioned the valley of Hamon-gog (Ezekiel 39:15) as this place, where their worm will not die and their fire will not be quenched.
As we see, there is little the Lord tells us about this new heaven and earth, yet people living prior to John writing the Book of Revelation seemed to know and understand it. They understood that there was a time when Israel would be brought back, and that the Lord would reign and be worshipped. Then there would be a new heaven and new earth. Peter says this.
2 Peter 3:13-14 (AMP)
13 But we look for new heavens and a new earth according to His promise, in which righteousness (uprightness, freedom from sin, and right standing with God) is to abide.
14 So, beloved, since you are expecting these things, be eager to be found by Him [at His coming] without spot or blemish and at peace [in serene confidence, free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts].
Peter reminds us to look ahead. Do not make the mistake that this life in this age of history is all that there is. The Millennial Kingdom is a world ruled by Jesus who will reign from earth. There will still be death, and there will still be sin, but compared to living in a time where the satan is the ruler of this age, it will be a wonderful place. Once the satan is thrown into the lake of fire there will be a time of judgement for everyone who has not been judged. Once the judgments are complete, the Father will decide the time for the new heaven and new earth to descend out of heaven.
