Love Justice, Hate Evil; Compare and Contrast Belial’s Sons, Intercession

Well, it may be too late. Crazy, unstable, overtly emotional, unsound, and blatantly evil people seem to be growing in number, and it has many wondering what has happened. We all would like a black and white explanation but there is a lot of gray here. Who is responsible for so much crazy in our world? Who is influencing the population to behave violently? The hard part of this answer lies in our lack of understanding of the sons of Belial. Where the evil lies is in the unseen but very present caste system we all live in. The unrighteous chose a soft life of luxury at the expense of the rest of the population. When we look back in history we see things in black and white, the unrighteous versus the righteous. Solomon wrote many important things regarding this dilemma that are applicable to all generations. He tried to warn the youth of his day, but they did not listen any better than the people of today who do not practice wisdom. The concrete answers to the dilemma of an unstable world were written for us years ago. There are some things that we should be aware of, and then there are some actions that we can take to rebuke evil.

Last week we touched on the things that God hates. We noticed a few alterations to the text in this section as well. Let’s review what we looked at previously.

Proverbs 6:12 A foolish man and a transgressor goes in ways that are not good. 13 And the same winks with the eye, and makes a sign with his foot, and teaches with the beckonings of his fingers. 14 His perverse heart devises evils: at all times such a one causes troubles to a city. 15 Therefore his destruction shall come suddenly; overthrow and irretrievable ruin.
16 For he rejoices in all things which God hates, and he is ruined by reason of impurity of soul. 17 The eye of the haughty, a tongue unjust, hands shedding the blood of the just; 18and a heart devising evil thoughts, and feet hastening to do evil, —are hateful to God. 19 An unjust witness kindles falsehoods, and brings on quarrels between brethren.

We can see a lot of the things we read in verse 13 mirrored in our modern politics. Solomon calls them “foolish and transgressors, or lawbreakers”. We have to adjust our thinking, the wisest man that ever lived called these people foolish lawbreakers, but they think of themselves as smart and wise. These foolish scammers rejoice in all the things that God hates. They are mistaken, but they attempt to convince the world that they are right. For just a moment, think of the words written for us by the Apostle John, he lays out the end of this age well in advance of the events coming to pass. In other words, we know the events of the end of the age, but we are seemingly caught in a loop of disbelief, as if these things cannot be happening in our time. David gave warnings for the same issues. http://musingsofawinsomeheart.blogspot.com/2016/04/dark-and-light-cursing-belial-essene.html

Psalm 36: For the end, by David the servant of the Lord.
36:1 The transgressor, that he may sin, says within himself, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. 2 For he has dealt craftily before him, to discover his iniquity and hate it. 3 The words of his mouth are transgression and deceit: he is not inclined to understand how to do good. 4 He devises iniquity on his bed; he gives himself to every evil way; and does not abhor evil.

Here is the simplified black and white answer. The statement that the lawless one “says within himself” tells us that perhaps he is having a conversation in his head, but he may not be conversing with his own mind but with a demon; suggesting that there is no God, therefore no fear of God. The lawless one rationalizes that his bad behaviors haven’t been punished, therefore God must not be watching. He plans more evil and enjoys it. Solomon compares those people who love justice and those who love evil.  Let’s focus on these two chapters in the Book of Wisdom piece by piece.

Wisdom 1:1 Love righteousness, ye that be judges of the earth: think of the Lord with a good (heart,) and in simplicity of heart seek him. 2 For he will be found of them that tempt him not; and sheweth himself unto such as do not distrust him. 3 For froward thoughts separate from God: and his power, when it is tried, reproveth the unwise.

This first segment resonates with those who love Yahweh, and those people receive the Spirit of Wisdom, which again makes the dilemma of evil in the world more black and white.

4 For into a malicious soul wisdom shall not enter; nor dwell in the body that is subject unto sin. 5 For the holy spirit of discipline will flee deceit, and remove from thoughts that are without understanding, and will not abide when unrighteousness cometh in.
6 For wisdom is a loving spirit; and will not acquit a blasphemer of his words: for God is witness of his reins, and a true beholder of his heart, and a hearer of his tongue. 7 For the Spirit of the Lord filleth the world: and that which containeth all things hath knowledge of the voice.

This is all relatively simple to understand. The Holy Spirit dwells with those people who love the Lord and seek His ways. The righteous hear the voice of the Spirit.

8 Therefore he that speaketh unrighteous things cannot be hid: neither shall vengeance, when it punisheth, pass by him. 9 For inquisition shall be made into the counsels of the ungodly: and the sound of his words shall come unto the Lord for the manifestation of his wicked deeds. 10 For the ear of jealousy heareth all things: and the noise of murmurings is not hid.
11 Therefore beware of murmuring, which is unprofitable; and refrain your tongue from backbiting: for there is no word so secret, that shall go for nought: and the mouth that belieth slayeth the soul.

Here is where the gray areas come in. The Spirit of the Lord sees and knows what is being said and done under the sun; and while these things are all known by the Lord, people may fall into the traps of poor behavior. This may not be inherently or intentionally evil, but this behavior is technically wrong, which is why Solomon is warning us. He also suggests that we don’t seek death or wish to die when we make these mistakes because God did not make death.

12 Seek not death in the error of your life: and pull not upon yourselves destruction with the works of your hands. 13 For God made not death: neither hath he pleasure in the destruction of the living. 14 For he created all things, that they might have their being: and the generations of the world were healthful; and there is no poison of destruction in them, nor the kingdom of death upon the earth: 15 (For righteousness is immortal:) 16 But ungodly men with their works and words called it to them: for when they thought to have it their friend, they consumed to nought, and made a covenant with it, because they are worthy to take part with it.

Originally humans were not created for death and ill health. The kingdom of death was not upon the earth until ungodly people brought it here; making friends with death and making a covenant with death. Righteousness is immortal. Unrighteousness is temporal, deadly, and final. Who makes a covenant with death? Those who believe they will receive something on this earth in exchange for their evil behavior. Making an agreement with hell means one is expecting privilege in hell. At the time of Solomon’s writing that may very well have been the case because the devil was in charge of hell, but since Jesus took back the keys to hell and death, spoiling principalities and powers, there is no special place in hell for the workers of evil on the earth. This is one of those lies that people fall into, because they do not know what Jesus accomplished. This is one reason so many people make a covenant with hell today, they don’t know who is in charge of hell now. Should they be surprised that they believed a lie from the devil? Should anyone trust the deceiver? Solomon goes on, contrasting the righteous with the unrighteous.

2:1 For the ungodly said, reasoning with themselves, but not aright, Our life is short and tedious, and in the death of a man there is no remedy: neither was there any man known to have returned from the grave. 2 For we are born at all adventure: and we shall be hereafter as though we had never been: for the breath in our nostrils is as smoke, and a little spark in the moving of our heart: 3 Which being extinguished, our body shall be turned into ashes, and our spirit shall vanish as the soft air, 4 And our name shall be forgotten in time, and no man shall have our works in remembrance, and our life shall pass away as the trace of a cloud, and shall be dispersed as a mist, that is driven away with the beams of the sun, and overcome with the heat thereof.

The ungodly believe that there is no remedy to death. They see people die and that they do not come back to life, so they believe that this is the end of their existence. But righteousness is immortal, Wisdom 1:13. Since they don’t believe in the immortality of the spirit and soul, why behave godly? They reason within themselves, as David pointed out in Psalm 36, and maybe the talking in their heads is a conversation with a demon attempting to talk them out of godliness. If we notice how poetic Solomon wrote this, we see that the ideas don’t come to people with hell-fire and blood as an enticement for a covenant with hell. Instead the enticement is soft, simple, and easy like a warm breeze: ‘why bother pursuing righteousness, it’s all too hard with no rewards before we die, and who will remember us; no one comes back from the grave’.

5 For our time is a very shadow that passeth away; and after our end there is no returning: for it is fast sealed, so that no man cometh again.

People are led into ungodliness because what they “see” with their eyes is that people die and that is the end. They do not look ahead to eternity, they don’t believe it exists. If one does not believe in an afterlife, then there is no reason to be a good person.

6 Come on therefore, let us enjoy the good things that are present: and let us speedily use the creatures like as in youth. 7 Let us fill ourselves with costly wine and ointments: and let no flower of the spring pass by us: 8 Let us crown ourselves with rosebuds, before they be withered: 9 Let none of us go without his part of our voluptuousness: let us leave tokens of our joyfulness in every place: for this is our portion, and our lot is this.

This sounds so luxurious, let’s read it like this: let’s live in splendor and opulence. We will drink expensive wine and uses expensive oils to keep ourselves looking young. We will wear glamorous rose crowns as if we are royalty, we should not deny ourselves of every pleasure and gratification, and we will leave flower petals and tokens everywhere we go so that others know that this is our status and position in life. Everyone will be able to smell the sweet perfume as we walk by. This all sounds like a soft and easy way to think of selling one’s soul to the devil. But this is what Solomon is communicating, it is easy and sweet for people to make a covenant with hell. Now the fragrant savor takes a turn towards evil when people recognize what they need to do to achieve the heights they dream of.

10 Let us oppress the poor righteous man, let us not spare the widow, nor reverence the ancient gray hairs of the aged. 11 Let our strength be the law of justice: for that which is feeble is found to be nothing worth.

We have a world-wide eugenics program promoted to the poor under the guise of inconvenient pregnancy and abortion. It used to be, in the United States, that children born with disorders and retardation were put to death, and adults sterilized. Now the spin is eugenics before birth. Who advocates for that? Who wants to kill all babies before they are born? This is not just some ridiculous ceremonial sacrifice to a stone god. No one is dancing around a statue throwing baby parts into a fire at the statue’s feet, this is a procedural extermination program for the poor. The women who have had abortions are not necessarily bad or evil, they have simply been influenced by the evil elite. This is a gray area we need to consider. They didn’t know this was a global agenda instituted by the devil to curse and kill humanity. Luckily, for those who ask, Yahweh forgives.

Notice that not caring for the elderly is the same matter, a systemized eugenics program, making someone else “god” other than Yahweh. While we can see these evil people have disrespect towards the elderly and believe the idea that old people are a drain on society, the Essenes/Nazarenes/Therapeutaes all did the opposite, they respected and cared for the elderly.

It is easy to bully and abuse the weak in the world and Jesus shamed the Pharisees for doing that. If that is the way our world is supposed to work then what we see as far as crime and light punishment is exactly correct. Stealing is simply a matter of one dominating another. Killing children in a school is again simply dominating the weak of the species. Bullying and imprisoning the just and righteous is perfectly acceptable in the devil’s world, where the elite sons of Belial dominate the masses. The elite wear the rose crowns and live in luxury while the non-elite are slaves to those dominating the world. Because of this crooked mentality, doing good rather than evil is looked at as being weak. Being kind and caring for the disabled and elderly is not rewarded but mocked. To remedy the situation, infantile eugenics and geriatric eugenics are promoted and marketed as compassion. It is “compassionate to end one’s suffering or to not bring a baby into a world of suffering”, nonsense. Truly, if the devil wasn’t the god of this world and the sons of Belial didn’t run our world governments, we wouldn’t have suffering. One day there will be a eugenics program to clean out evil people from off the earth, instead of the innocent; that will be just before the millennial reign.

12 Therefore let us lie in wait for the righteous; because he is not for our turn, and he is clean contrary to our doings: he upbraideth us with our offending the law, and objecteth to our infamy the transgressings of our education. 13 He professeth to have the knowledge of God: and he calleth himself the child of the Lord. 14 He was made to reprove our thoughts. 15 He is grievous unto us even to behold: for his life is not like other men’s, his ways are of another fashion. 16 We are esteemed of him as counterfeits: he abstaineth from our ways as from filthiness: he pronounceth the end of the just to be blessed, and maketh his boast that God is his father.

This sounds like something the unjust, lawless people say today. It seems as if this was written for us, but really not much has changed over the years. It seems like there is an agenda to close Christian businesses and businesses run by Christians via taxation and frivolous litigation. It seems by the very existence of the righteous, the unrighteous feel condemned, and become grievous. Is that because deep down they know they are doing evil and the presence of a believer in Yahweh reminds them of their own guilt? The end of the just is blessed, the just have eternal life instead of eternal death.

17 Let us see if his words be true: and let us prove what shall happen in the end of him. 18 For if the just man be the son of God, he will help him, and deliver him from the hand of his enemies. 19 Let us examine him with despitefulness and torture, that we may know his meekness, and prove his patience.20 Let us condemn him with a shameful death: for by his own saying he shall be respected.
21 Such things they did imagine, and were deceived: for their own wickedness hath blinded them. 22 As for the mysteries of God, they knew them not: neither hoped they for the wages of righteousness, nor discerned a reward for blameless souls.

Intentional mistreatment of the innocent sons of God in our society seems crazy. Why harm those who do good? But as we see, the insanity that comes over the mind of an evil person is irrational. Attacking the sons of the Most High does not lead to a better society. And yet that is not the goal of the elite rulers, instead the goal of the elite rulers is for they themselves to live in luxury and be pampered, they really do not care about anyone else. Had they known the mysteries they probably would have changed their agenda, striving for blamelessness. Here is why.

23 For God created man to be immortal, and made him to be an image of his own eternity. 24 Nevertheless through envy of the devil came death into the world: and they that do hold of his side do find it.

One of the mysteries that the unrighteous missed is that man is created to be immortal. If one is going to be immortal the question becomes where will that one exist in immortality? Eternity is a long time. Because of the envy of the devil and the devil’s jealousy toward humankind, the devil set out to turn humanity on itself. Man killing man is the scheme. The devil brought the kingdom of death into the world, and men wanted to make a covenant with it so that they fulfill all their dreams and pleasures on the earth. If one holds onto the side of the devil he will surely find death, eternal death. That is the shame of the devils deception spread out over the world. We are eternal beings and yet we alone control where we will spend eternity. The short sightedness of the unrighteous leads to their own demise. And really, who can trust a deceiver? But there are people who willingly choose evil over Yahweh. That is the condition that humanity finds itself born into. Except today, Jesus holds the keys to hell and death. There is no getting past Jesus at the time of death.

Solomon tells us that the Spirit of Wisdom makes those with judiciousness a dwelling. The reverent fear and worshipful awe of the Lord includes the hatred of evil.

Prov 8:12-14 I, Wisdom [from God], make prudence my dwelling, and I find out knowledge and discretion. [James 1:5.] 13 The reverent fear and worshipful awe of the Lord [includes] the hatred of evil; pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverted and twisted speech I hate. 14 I have counsel and sound knowledge, I have understanding, I have might and power. AMP

Remember that the Holy Spirit was the architect in the beginning. The Spirit of God moves over the earth today and is reproving the world of sin, and righteousness, and judgment. Remember that the prince of this world is already judged, John 16:7-ff. This is the black and white perspective that we are looking for. There are people who willingly cleave to and make covenant with the devil. The gray areas are those people who may do some things wrong but are not intentionally evil. This is the clear cut understanding we have written for us. This is why we have been given spiritual weapons to stand against intentional evil.

To get a perspective of our spiritual weapons of verbalizing imprecations we have the imprecatory Psalms written mostly by David. Many people love David and want to sing his songs, but do not understand his imprecations. I will list the imprecatory Psalms as there are too many to review. All are attributed to David except two as noted. Psalm:5,6,7,11,12,35,37,40,52,54,55,56,58,59,69,79 (Asaph),83 (Asaph),109,137,139,143.

Here is an excerpt from David.

Psalm 109:6 Set thou a sinner against him; and let the devil stand at his right hand. 7 When he is judged, let him go forth condemned: and let his prayer become sin. 8 Let his days be few: and let another take his office of overseer. 9 Let his children be orphans, and his wife a widow. 10 Let his children wander without a dwelling-place, and beg: let them be cast out of their habitations. 11 Let his creditor exact all that belongs to him: and let strangers spoil his labours. 12 Let him have no helper; neither let there be any one to have compassion on his fatherless children. 13 Let his children be given up to utter destruction: in one generation let his name be blotted out. 14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. 15 Let them be before the Lord continually; and let their memorial be blotted out from the earth.

Those who are intentional toward evil can be subdued by our intercession. Those who live in the gray area of life may just need to be loved. Imprecations are our tool in evil times to keep the people who are intentionally harming the sons of God at bay. They may have power on earth to dominate, but spiritually they do not have the power that the sons of God have. With the Holy Spirit residing within the believer, there is much the believer can do to bind the attacks of the god of this world. The devil is not stronger or more powerful than the Holy Spirit who resides in the righteous, but he does have a lease on this planet. His time to rule over humanity is coming to a close. The Essenes/Nazarenes/Therapeutaes and the Damascus community along with the Prophets had a regular intercessory practice of cursing the devil and his sons. These people who cleave to the devil, making a covenant with hell were known as “sons of Belial”. They were also called the “lot of satan”. Depending on which edition of the Dead Sea Scrolls one has, we see the term lot of satan in older additions amended to sons of Belial in newer additions. Part of their success as a community was to have structure. Here we see part of their prayer and intercession.

Community Rule 1QS
And the Levites shall curse all the men of the lot of Belial, saying: “Be cursed because of all your guilty wickedness! May he deliver you up for torture at the hands of the vengeful Avengers! May he visit you with destruction by the hand of all the Wreakers of Revenge! Be damned in the shadowy place of everlasting fire! May God not heed when you call on Him, nor pardon you by blotting out your sin! May he raise His angry face towards you for vengeance! May there be no “Peace” for you in the mouth of those who hold fast to the Fathers!” p99

The Levites of the community did the cursing while the priests did the blessings. Today so many people want to associate themselves with ancient Jewish practice and connect themselves to the Levites. If that is the case, these individuals should get busy cursing this evil lot, the sons of Belial. These are the people who have made a covenant with hell and cleave to the devil, these are not the people of the gray areas of life. The Levites pray for torture and destruction of the sons of Belial by the people of their own lot. In other words, they are praying that sons of Belial attack sons of Belial. Well that is handy. No need for anyone else to be involved. That is what the devil tries to do to Christians, he tries to get Christians to fight among themselves. Well the Essenes/Nazarenes/Therapeutaes and Prophets simply turned the tables on the devil. When these people are being attacked by other sons of Belial, they will cry to the Almighty, but they are cursed with no peace for the evil they have done on the earth. This was a regular prayer offered during times when people were entering into the Covenant in the communities.

Part of their preparations for war included intercessions against the sinful purpose of Belial. They took a spiritual approach to war and interceded against the spirits of evil.

War Rule Xlll
Cursed be Belial for his sinful purpose and may he be execrated for his wicked rule! Cursed be all the spirits of his company for their ungodly purpose and may they be execrated for all their service of uncleanness! Truly they are the company of Darkness, but the company of God is one of [eternal] Light.  p178

Thou hast created us for Thyself, [O God], that we may be an everlasting people. Thou hast decreed for us a destiny of Light according to Thy truth. And the Prince of Light Thou hast appointed from ancient times to come to our support; [all the sons of righteousness are in his hand], and all the spirits of truth are under his dominion. But Belial, the Angel of Malevolence, Thou has created for the Pit; his [rule] is in Darkness and his purpose is to bring about wickedness and iniquity. All the spirits of his company, the Angels of Destruction, walk according to the precepts of Darkness; towards them is their [inclination]. P 178

Belial is the angel of malevolence and he has other spirits in his company, angels of destruction. Remember how Paul told the Ephesians that there are principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual wickedness? These are the spirits that influence people to pursue evil, reasoning within themselves, or getting in their heads until they choose evil. We alone choose life or death, righteousness or unrighteousness. We alone determine whether to love justice and hate evil or cleave to the devil making a covenant with hell. But man was not created for death and the kingdom of death was not on earth until evil men brought it here by their evil ways.

Part of community life among the Essenes was to sing and worship, but some of their songs explained the spiritual reality of life.

Hymn 10 (formally 5)……The torrents of Belial shall break into Abaddon, and the deeps of the Abyss shall groan amid the roar of heaving mud. The land shall cry out because of the calamity fallen upon the world, and all its deeps shall howl. And all those upon it shall rave and shall perish amid great misfortune. For God shall sound His mighty voice, and His holy abode shall thunder with the truth of His glory. The heavenly hosts shall cry out and the world’s foundations shall stagger and sway. The war of the heavenly warriors shall scourge the earth; and it shall not end before the appointed destruction which shall be for ever and without compare. P 267

Culturally from the times of the Prophets, through David, into the first century, it was common protocol to acknowledge our spiritual battle and spiritual predicament upon the earth. One of the schemes of the devil has been to make us believe that there is no spiritual battle, and that there are no evil people lording over the masses. It has become culturally unacceptable to talk about people being evil, even to the degree we hesitate to call murderers, liars, and thieves, evil. We Christians can’t even point out morality because as Solomon told us, the evil people feel condemned by us so they attempt to shut us up. Meanwhile, we have this incredible weapon of intercession and we are afraid to use it. Man was not made for death. The Almighty did not create a kingdom of death, the devil did. But Jesus won a great victory for all humanity and he alone is in charge of the spirit and soul when one dies. It is our choice as to who we will cleave to, and who we will live for. And while we are on earth it certainly wouldn’t hurt to utilize the tools we have to push back the sons of the devil. Solomon gave us some great understanding of our worldly existence, in some very plain black and white terms. There are children of righteousness and children of Belial, and we are the ones who choose who to make Lord over our lives.
