The Hope; Rapiemur; Mixed Lump Root; The Off-First Saints


Have you ever thought about what it must have been like to live in Israel at the time period just before the birth of the Messiah?  Everyone knew the prophecies and knew that a virgin was to conceive and bear a son. Most of the devout people would have been expecting a virgin conception at any time. We have studied that Jesus was the first IVF baby we know of. While there were people holding onto that hope, there were others who had given up. They simply thought that the word of the Elohim had somehow been broken and that he was not going to be born or rescue them. For the doubters it was probably hard to change their minds when Jesus did start his ministry of miracles. Then there was the challenging belief that Jesus would rise from the dead. That had to be a very long three days and three nights for all the disciples. However they saw the completion of the hope of their faith when Jesus showed himself to the disciples and many thousands of people.This is similar to the situation we are in today. We have many divisions and factions believing a variety of things about what the future holds, or more specifically the hope of the Christians. Our hope or expectation is that we will not cease to exist but that we will be called up to heaven, whether we are dead or living, at one time, on one specific day, the Day of Redemption, or the Day of Off-Ransom. Living around the unbelieving Christians is just like living around the unbelieving Jews of the Messiah’s time. Although oddly enough the secrets of the Day of Redemption are hidden in plain sight. We just haven’t made the time to look.  


There are people who believe more quickly with less convincing than others. It did not take a lot of convincing for Mary to believe the angel that she would conceive. It did not take a lot of convincing for Joseph to take Mary as his wife. It also did not take Joseph much convincing to leave Nazareth to go to Egypt. The idea that we have to work so hard to show people scripture after scripture and they still reject the hope that Jesus will call us up at the exact time when the exact number of people has been reached, seems like a waste of time, but it isn’t. The poison of unbelief infects the Body of Christ. It causes people to not understand the scripture. They think that every spiritual attack is the wrath, that every bad thing that happens in Satanas’ world is the tribulation. It is not. If you are on the earth during the tribulation you are a child of ungodliness and/or disobedience.


Some subjects are easier to believe than others. For example, we have one place where Paul tells us to ‘confess Jesus with our mouth and believe he rose up on the third day and then we will be saved'. Every Christian believes this easily. However Paul also tells us over seven times that we are saved and spared from the wrath, and that the wrath will only come on the ungodly children of disobedience. Yet we do not want to believe those seven verses. We have one verse that says ‘God so loved the world he gave his only son that whosoever believes on him would not perish but have eternal life’. Every Christian believes on that verse. Yet we have forty seven usages of the word harpazo, which the Latin translates as rapiemur (rapture in English), and many Christians refuse to believe it. By simple numbers and simple logic we see that a subject repeated over and over again should have more weight in faith than a subject that is only mentioned once. But that is the scheme played against the Christian. 


The subject of the Day of Redemption is all over the word of God, but not only in one word or one verse. It is the unlearned that think it is. As we have studied over the years, the event of the harpazo on the Day of Redemption is called many things; “the rising”, “the rising up and away”, “the hiding”, “the above synagogue”, “the holy convocation”, “the off-ransom”, “the off-reconcilation”, and “the off-first”. It is so difficult to miss we have to try really hard to ignore it. But that again tells us something. It tells us that no matter how many times we are told something, there are simply people who will reject it, just like people rejected the birth of the Messiah, the ministry of the Messiah, and the resurrection and ascension of the Messiah. What we see is that humans are humans, no matter the time period, some believe quickly, some take more time to believe, and some never do.


The idea of first fruits has a lot of people confused. There are some who insist one thing, others who insist something else, but a closer look at the actual word helps our understanding. There is no fruit here the word for “fruit” is not part of this word, the idea of first fruits is used metaphorically but literally it is not a fruit. The word means “off-first” or “away from-first” and is not specific to one thing. It is the offering that is made of anything that is first, whether people or food or things. Whatever is “first” take “off” from the top. The reason this has become diluted is due to the mistranslations and the idea that in the old testament it is usually used as food.

ἄρχομαι

Again, no fruit here. When the word aparchē is used it means “the primal offering or the beginning of the sacrifice”. It is a compound word from apo which is used as a prefix meaning “off or away from”, and archomai meaning “first in order of time, or beginning”. The definition of first fruit was to describe the first offering or first sacrifice. It could have been better translated because it has led to confusion in our time. 


In the Old Covenant we see off-first of the threshing floor, off-first of produce, the off-first of what seems good in the heart, including gold and silver and brass. We see the off-first of the holy, off-first of shekels, and whatever is a pleasing aroma, sheaves, and sanctified things. There is an off-first of dough, gifts, olive oil, wine, grain, and whatever is on the threshing floor. There are off-first from things you worked with your hands. There are off-first of shearing as well. This is the first 30 mistranslated words from Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, as “first fruits” out of 77. We can see that not all offerings are food related. We can see what was being communicated is that whatever is used as an offering should be from the first of the batch. Once we get to the Temple period the first fruits was an offering made in the temple, and Malachi 3:8 says the people and the entire nation has stomped on the Elohim by not giving their off-first offerings.


Why did they add fruit? When translators looked at the Old Covenant usages the off-first was qualified with something else as noted above. They seem to have continued the thought process even though Paul is not using fruit or food as a qualifier. In more modern times people have made all sorts of doctrines about first fruits, which are not biblical. This is where confusion has been sown in. To reiterate, a first fruit offering does not mean food or fruit. A first fruit offering should be an off-first offering and can be things from the heart, shekels, gold, silver, or other non-food items such as gifts. It is an offering made from the first of a person’s abundance. 


We then come to Romans, Paul tells people that they, the believers, are the off-first of the Spirit. Nowhere is it written that the heirs of Jacob are off-first (first fruits). The people who are off-first are the believers in Messiah Jesus. Now many people believe the Jews are the first fruits of the Elohim and technically they were at the time Jesus was on the earth, but that time has long passed. The people who believed on Jesus when he walked as Messiah were mostly Jews. They were both lay people and religious leaders. There were even believing Pharisees. That time passed on the Day of Pentecost when the believing Jews received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. There was a “first fruit” offering of Jews, but maybe it’s not what people today would like to think of it as. Now we who also believe on Jesus Messiah and are baptized in the Holy Spirit are the off-first of the Spirit.

Again Paul, inspiring the Jews to jealousy, explains that there is a new lump. We are mixing water and flour and kneading it together to make a root like a new sourdough starter.

There were Jews at the time when Jesus was on the earth that fully believed he was the Messiah, they are the part of the first off, of those who will have life after death. One of the benefits of being the off-first of the Spirit is eternal life. Remember that this verse is in the context of the number of nations coming into belief in the Messiah. We are not to be ignorant of this mystery as to the blinding of the Jews. The Jews are willingly blind because they didn’t like Jesus Messiah. He didn’t overthrow Rome and rule in Jerusalem, giving Israel back control of her nation. Their timing is off. They did not realize how important it was to the Messiah’s plan to add the nations into His kingdom. The Jews were supposed to be educating the nations, but they didn’t do that, instead they cloistered themselves away from the nations.

Remember our look at the word “holy” from last week, this should also be G40 hagios, “holy people or saints”. Paul’s point here is inspiring the Jews to jealousy so that some will be saved, but as Jews they still are rejected and not receiving life from out of the dead because they reject Jesus Messiah. But the off-first saints who are Jews, both the lay people and the religious leaders, and the nations, are mixed together. The word batch, phurama, means “mixing liquid and solids to form a lump” as in kneading dough. Then the lumpy saints are the root  of the olive tree and the branches are the people who came to know Jesus as Messiah after the first century believers. They are receiving life out of the dead as well. The off first saints are mixed with the nations and are now a mixed lump. The root is the mixed lump and the branches are now receiving life from out of the dead. Some people claim that the Jews are the root that is not accurate, it is the believing Jews that are the root, along with the believing nations when Jesus came to earth, they are the off-first saints, the root. Now the rest of the world, all the nations, Jews included, can be grafted in. But the Jews of today are still rejecting Jesus Messiah.


The very first believer on Jesus Messiah was John the Baptist at six months gestation in Elizabeths womb. Elizabeth was the second believer in Jesus Messiah. Jesus wasn’t even born yet but it did not take a lot of convincing for John and Elizabeth to believe on Jesus. The off-first saints started with a baby three months prior to his birth. Here is our very first root. Now we believe the off-first saints, the root saints, and we are grafted in. We are part of the olive tree. 


Paul starts calling the believers in Jesus Messiah the off-first of the city in which they live. Epaenetus is from Achaia, and is traveling to wherever Priscilla and Aquila’s home is. Achaia is south of Macedonia and north of Corinth.

Epaenetus is among the faithful believers in Jesus Christ. Paul asks for the people in the home assembly of Priscilla and Aquila to greet Epaeneteus because he is the off-first in Christ. Priscilla and Aquila were forced out of Rome and met Paul in Corinth, then traveled with Paul to Cenchrea a city in Corinth, then they were in Ephesus. Wherever they ended up, Priscilla and Aquila had a home church. Paul again calls people the “off-first”.

The entire house of Stephanas’ is the off-first in Achaia. Apparently Achaia had a lot of strong believers in the Messiah. They are the off-first believers there. Paul is identifying the believers who will be of the Day of Redemption to others by calling them the off-first saints. This is a very literal description of who we are in Christ. We are the off-first of the saints, in the harpazo, but Jesus is the off-first from the dead.

All humans die but those in Christ, Messiah, are restored to life. Jesus is the first to rise up on the third day. Jesus told his disciples that he would rise up on the third day and gave them the example of Jonah.

“Each but in the one’s own division off-first Christ thereafter the of Christ in the presence his.”



The working order is Christ was first risen from the dead, then the next ones are those in Christ. Who is in Christ at his presence?  We want to ask when is his presence? Jesus appears in the air on the Day of Redemption when he calls from the clouds, and then when he comes back, this time to earth, on the Day of the Lord with his saints. There are three different times that he is arriving to three different groups of people.

The next arrival or presence of Jesus is in the clouds when he calls up his saints. This group is the off-first saints, who are believers in Christ now. The dead rise up first and the living are caught up with them. That is the first group at the first coming. The second time Christ is present is when he harpazo’s the 144,000. The third time Christ arrives or is present is when he comes to the earth with his saints, the off-first believers, to raise the heirs of Jacob up and sort them as the angels gather them from the ends of heaven and earth. Then Jesus establishes his kingdom on the earth. Jesus Messiah will be King of kings and Lord of lords and he will reign forever. 


Peter mentions that even at this time period people would not believe in the return of Jesus.

People were mocking the idea that Jesus would come back. Peter addresses this, explaining that the flood wiped out everyone except eight people. Then he says that the heavens and earth are kept for a day of judgment, the Day of the Lord. Here is where we are, people always asking when is Jesus’ parousia, His presence? The people that are having a hard time believing in the Day of Redemption say the same thing, that ever since the beginning of time nothing has changed, people live and die. As Paul and Ezra both told us there is a set time and a set number of people. Apart from that, we wait in faith. If one has no faith to wait and doesn’t believe that Jesus will harpazo his church, then the last thing that person should do is disparage the written word of God, the logos of truth from the Elohim, when holy men wrote as the Holy Spirit led them. People should just keep their lack of faith to themselves and not discourage others. The fear porn of the saints going through the tribulation is ridiculous for so many reasons. For those who do hope in faith and are awaiting the Day of Redemption, we feel it can’t come fast enough, but recognize that we can either be part of the obstruction or part of the construction into the off-first saints.

“For the expectation salvation but expectation seen it is no expectation for this see any person and expects. But if this not see expect by means of steadfastness look for.”



Paul makes perfect sense. If we expect our salvation and see it, that is not expectation. We have not seen salvation and therefore we expect it, staying steadfast we look for it. The pre-Messiah’s birth generation looked for the Messiah’s birth. They anticipated it in hope and expectation. The era of the Messiah’s ministry is not a hope or expectation for the Messiah because he was already on earth ministering. However he said he’d be back and we now eagerly anticipate his call. Just because the religious leaders rejected the Messiah does not mean that the Messiah is going to be birthed to a virgin again. He instead will meet with his rejecters on the Day of the Lord or the White Throne Judgment. And just because people reject the logos as the Holy Spirit gave us, does not mean the logos of the Elohim is broken. It is not. Everything in its proper time.

Isn’t it odd that Paul does not want us to grieve the dead as if the left behind have no expectation? This is why he wants us to know, as he then goes on to explain the harpazo, seizing, rapture. He gives us the plan for our hope, our expectation. We do not have to be sad about any of our loved ones in Christ as they are eagerly awaiting his call as well. If however we have loved ones who rejected Jesus we might be sad and questioning their status as to hades or paradise which is why we want to make sure our loved ones have had the opportunity to hear about being saved.

We became believers in Messiah by the word of truth. When we believed the word of truth we became the off-first of his created. This is who we are, the first ones being taken off the earth. This brings up the point. If we are the first who is the second? 


The second group harpazo’d is the 144,000 virgin males who have never lied or been with a women. That seizing comes halfway through the tribulation and the qualifications are that those young men must be of one of the twelve tribes. Only Jesus would know that genealogy. They must be literal virgins and they must not have ever lied. They are followers of Elijah and Enoch, the two witnesses during the tribulation. Wild times ahead. 


Here we are today waiting for our hope, the hope of his calling us up. We do all the normal things that we should do with our focus on making disciples. Our focus should not be on earthly things, ever, but on eternal things where moth and rust do not corrupt. We are here to bring people to the Messiah, not to leave a church building as a legacy for the tribulation. No one will care about our buildings, our bibles, or our Elohim. They will want our food, our shelter, and our money. In the USA only about one fourth of the population will be left on the earth at first and those numbers will dwindle rapidly as the seals are opened. We have already studied the numbers so we know that the population is going to decrease to less than one billion people up to the Day of the Lord.

We are the off-first of His creation. We are the off-first of the Holy Spirit. We are the off-first of our community. We are the off-first. We are rooted from the mixed lump and are grafted in to the off-first of His inheritance. While that is a nice hope, a comforting expectation, we do have a job to do until the calling up. We do not have to be discouraged if our loved ones do not believe in the rapture, the harpazo, as people’s unbelief didn’t stop the Messiah from being born, nor did it stop Jesus from fulfilling his ministry. Unbelief also did not stop Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection, and ascension. Unbelief is simply the contrast to the beautiful light. Unbelief also will not hinder a saint in the Messiah from being caught up in the air. They will certainly be surprised. They might even think that they are dreaming. But truly they do not need to know the truth, it will simply happen. There could be some consequences in entering the Kingdom of Heaven because there are people outside the Kingdom of Heaven knocking, while in the Kingdom of the Elohim, but that is not for us to determine. We can simply give people the information if they want it. Meanwhile our hope is in the off-first Day of Redemption.
