Astonishment; David’s Broken Heart; Hiding in the Harpazo; Psalm 31

When we read David’s songs we recognize that he is teaching us about Yahweh and the order of the heavens. We see how deep his relationship with Yahweh is and we see that he encourages us into the same type of relationship. David writes about astonishment and we want to explore what that is because we do not fully understand it. In Davids songs there are some words which are challenging to translate, as sometimes there is an added accent or a missing accent, or a misspelling. Therefore we want to try and compare two Septuagint translations to see if we can decipher David’s message. David also wrote prophetically and Jesus then recited things that David wrote.

We can sympathize with David, because it seems that when we stand for Yahweh we are surrounded and tricked by those who reject Yahweh. Due to a trap that someone set for him, David was even shunned within his own household. David had many instances where the people were not “with him”. We romanticize David and his time as king but we really don’t look at the reality of Israel. A promise was made to Abraham, because Abraham sought after Yahweh. Yet Abraham had a child with Sarah’s maid, and then married a Canaanite women, bearing eight sons in total. All of those sons were not holy. Isaac was the promised son and while he was a spiritual man and was connected to Yahweh, also having attended Shem and Eber’s school, Isaac was not always paying attention to his sons. Jacob served in Shem and Eber’s school but Esau married two Hittite women. While Jacob was a holy man, his children did not know Yahweh as he did. Joseph was someone who came to know Yahweh, but not as deeply as his father. The exodus generation had mixed during the time in Egypt. Even after entering Israel, the people mixed with the surrounding nations, such as the Philistines. The tribe of Benjamin was completely mixed as Benjamin’s men had sinned and were killed by the other tribes because they needed to stop that type of sin in the land. By the time David becomes king he is replacing a king from Benjamin’s mixed tribe. Nevertheless, David pressed on even with all the consternation surrounding him. Even then, people set a trap for David.

It is no wonder that David had great revelation from Yahweh as David made time to be with Yahweh. The attacks that David experienced came from people less spiritual and less concerned with Yahweh and who were more concerned with politics. David expresses his aching over his sin and cries out to Yahweh for help. Let’s explore.

Psalm 31:0 G1519 To G3588 the G5056 director; G5568 a psalm G3588 to G* David; G1611 a change of state.

Thayer:

1) any casting down of a thing from its proper place or state, displacement

2) a throwing of the mind out of its normal state, alienation of mind, whether such as makes a lunatic or that of a man who by some sudden emotion is transported as it were out of himself, so that in this rapt condition, although he is awake, his mind is drawn off from all surrounding objects and wholly fixed on things divine that he sees nothing but the forms and images lying within, and thinks that he perceives with his bodily eyes and ears realities shown him by God.

3) amazement, the state of one who, either owing to the importance or the novelty of an event, is thrown into a state of blended fear and wonderment

Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words

ἔκστασις

ecstasies ek'-stas-is From G1839; a displacement of the mind, that is, bewilderment, “ecstasy” KJV Usage: + be amazed, amazement, astonishment, trance.

This song is in into the fulfillment or the end of the age and is about his astonishment or amazement. This word ecstasies is used 35 times. David is writing this song from a time when he was in a state of astonishment or trance. It is a time when his mind was displaced. What David tells us is remarkable. The adam had this same ecstasies when Yahweh took a rib from him.

Genesis 2:21 G2532 And G1911 [3put G2962 1 the lord G3588   G2316 2God] G1611 a change of state G1909 over G3588   G* Adam, G2532 and G5258.1 he slept. G2532 And G2983 he took G1520 one G3588   G4125 of his ribs, G1473   G2532 and G378 supplied G4561 flesh G473 against G1473 it.

The idea is that this is a heightened spiritual state. Many people have visions when they are awake but they see something from Yahweh that Yahweh himself wants them to see. Some people have dramatic events where they lose time, while some see quick visions. Either way the idea is that being in Yahweh’s presence where we see the future is an ecstasy. Some people falsely call drugs or drug induced states, ecstasy. That is one of those opposites that Satanas has pushed into the world. An ecstasy is being in the presence of Yahweh and experiencing Him; seeing His future, hearing his voice, and knowing his ways. That is ecstasy.

Satanas has to try and mimic a state of amazement using chemicals because he does not have the power to show people visions of the future. Anything futuristic from Satanas is based on the Bible, not on anything he can do. He does not have the power to subvert Yahweh’s creation or the future, especially by way of drugs.

Psalm 31:1 G1909 Upon G1473 you, G2962 O lord, G1679 I hoped. G3361 May I not G2617 be disgraced G1519 into G3588 the G165 eon. G1722 In G3588   G1343 your righteousness G1473   G4506 rescue G1473 me, G2532 and G1807 take me out! G1473

“On you Yahweh expect not downward shame into the age in the your justification deliver me and rescue me.”

David starts his song with his hope or expectation in Yahweh. He knows that Yahweh will not put him to shame into the ages or through the end of time. David asks for deliverance and rescue. Whatever David was experiencing was something that he expected Yahweh would intervene in. David’s name is known throughout the ages. Everyone has heard of David. Interestingly, no one knows what this incident was.

Psalm 31:2 G2827 Lean G4314 [2to G1473 3me G3588   G3775 1your ear]! G1473   G5035.1 Hasten G3588   G1807 to take G1473 me out! G1096 Become G1473 to me G1519 as G2316 a defending God! G5231.5   G2532 and G1519 for G3624 a house G2707.1 of refuge G3588   G4982 to deliver G1473 me.

“Incline towards me the your ear quickly the rescue me, come into being into protector Elohim, and into dwelling downward escape, the save me.”

David knows that the Elohim can provide an escape from heaven to earth. He needs to be rescued from whatever this trap is that was set for him.

Psalm 31:3 G3754 For G2901.1 [2my fortification G1473   G2532 3and G2707.1 4my refuge G1473   G1510.2.2 1you are]; G1473   G2532 and G1752 because of G3588   G3686 your name G1473   G3594 you shall guide G1473 me G2532 and G1303.5 nourish G1473 me.

“That my stronghold and my downward escape are you and responsible the  your name guide me and nutrition me.”

David calls on the Elohim as his stronghold. He asks for the Elohim to guide and feed him.

Psalm 31:4 G1806 You shall lead G1473 me G1537 out of G3803 the snare G3778 which these G3739   G2928 hid G1473 for me; G3754 for G1473 you G1510.2.2 are G3588   G5231.5 my defender, G1473   G2962 O lord .

“Lead me out out from among trap this that hidden me because you are the my defender Yahweh.”

Someone laid a trap for David. Certainly if David knew of the trap then it would not have been concealed or hidden, but a trap by nature is hidden. Therefore whatever David stepped into, he needed rescuing.

Psalm 31:5 G1519 Into G5495 your hands G1473   G3908 I shall place G3588   G4151 my spirit. G1473   G3084 You ransomed G1473 me, G2962 O lord G3588   G2316 God G3588   G225 of truth.

“Into your hand place alongside the my spirit ransom me Yahweh the Elohim the truth.”

As we know, Jesus quoted David. The word paratithēmi literally means para “from the side of” or “alongside" or “in the presence of” and tithēmi “to place”. By application it means to entrust, set before or serve.

Luke records this:

Luke 23:46 G2532 And G5455 calling out G5456 [2voice G3173 1with a great], G3588   G* Jesus G2036 said, G3962 Father, G1519 into G5495 your hands G1473   G3908 I place G3588   G4151 my spirit. G1473   G2532 And G3778 these things G2036 having said G1606 he expired.

Jesus knew what David said and gave us a proof that he himself is the Messiah.

Psalm 31:6 G3404 You detested G3588 the G1314 ones guarding G3153 [2follies G1246.1 1ineffectual]. G1473 But I G1161   G1909 [2upon G3588 3the G2962 4 lord G1679 1hoped].

“Hate the protect by means of empty moral depravity but I on the Yahweh expect.

ματαιότης

mataiotēs mat-ah-yot'-ace From G3152; inutility; figuratively transientness; morally depravity KJV Usage: vanity.

The LXX-WH translates the word here διακενής “ineffectual” as two words, διά meaning “through” or “on account of” or “by means of”, and κενός meaning “empty”, “vain” or “hollow”. What David is saying is that we should hate the people who protect others by means of empty moral depravity. Many people protect those morally depraved individuals on the earth but their protection is empty, or vain, as Yahweh sees all and knows all.

This gives us a clue to the trap that someone set for David. The trap that was hidden for David is something that looked bad or perverse. Maybe it was sexual, maybe not, but whatever the trap was that David is praying to get rescued from, it is morally depraved and we should hate the people who protect these morally depraved people.

In our day, how many people know the seedy slimy life of the drug addicted, porn addicted, and sex addicted son of a top political leader in charge today, and never exposed him? How many people covered up the morally depraved? Maybe entire crime agencies, along with family, and friends, and foreign nations. Yet no one spoke up. Why? Leverage.

Just like Potiphar’s wife tried to entangle Joseph in a sexual affair, there are people who still attempt to entrap people this way. Nothing is new under the sun, but we rarely speak of these things in the church. We should be teaching it frequently, with warnings and remedies.

Psalm 31:7 G21 I will exult G2532 and G2165 be glad G1909 over G3588   G1656 your mercy, G1473   G3754 for G1896 you looked G1909 upon G3588   G5014 my humiliation. G1473   G4982 You delivered G1537 [2from G3588 3the wants G318 4of necessities G3588   G5590 1my soul]; G1473

“Jump for joy and cheer on the your compassion that regard on the my low estate save from out of the distress the my soul.

David almost seems bipolar in that he has low lows and high highs. Really though he has already been delivered by the time he wrote this so he is telling us about the trap that someone set for him and how upset he was. Yet he escaped unscathed. It was a time of turmoil. The situation was so distressing for his soul that he wants us to know that people protected the morally depraved and that we should not be like those that do that. Shouldn’t we call them out? Yahweh had compassion on David, which tells us that he either fell into this trap or was pretty close to falling into it. We can think about Delilah attempting to trick Samson, yet Samson tricking Delilah until he messed up. David is upset about his shame, so he is sad or depressed, but is also thankful for Yahweh’s compassion.

No one likes doing something stupid or sinful. Satanas is always watching us and waiting for us to sin. We have to have the maturity to see the trap and fight back. David’s soul is in distress over his mistake.

Psalm 31:8 G2532 and G3756 you did not G4788 close G1473 me up G1519 by G5495 hands G2190 of enemies. G2476 You set G1722 [2in G2149 3a broad space G3588   G4228 1my feet]. G1473

“And not inclose me into hand hateful cause to stand in wide the my foot

David is asking not to be closed in the hands of his enemies but help him to stand with a wide stance, meaning standing strong.

Psalm 31:9 G1653 Show mercy G1473 on me, G2962 O lord! G3754 for G2346 I am afflicted. G5015 [5are disturbed G1722 6in G2372 7rage G3588   G3788 1My eye G1473   G3588   G5590 2my soul G1473   G2532 3and G3588   G1064 4my belly]; G1473

“Compassion me Yahweh because pressed agitate in fierceness the my eye the my soul and the my stomach.

David states that this pressure agitated him, and his eyes, soul, and stomach are enraged. David is in knots. He is asking for mercy from Yahweh.

Psalm 31:10 G3754 for G1587 [2failed G1722 3in G3601 4grief G3588   G2222 1my life], G1473   G2532 and G3588   G2094 my years G1473   G1722 in G4726 moanings. G770 [2weakened G1722 3in G4432 4poorness G3588   G2479 1My strength], G1473   G2532 and G3588   G3747 my bones G1473   G5015 are disturbed.

“That cease in distress the my life and the my years in groaning feeble in poverty my power and the my bones agitated.

David feels so distressed that all he can do is groan, feebly. Whatever he was tricked into has him in knots.

Psalm 31:11 G3844 By G3956 all G3588   G2190 my enemies G1473   G1096 I became G3681 a scorn, G2532 even G3588 to G1069 my neighbors G1473   G4970 exceedingly so, G2532 and G5401 a fear G3588 to G1110 my acquaintances. G1473   G3588 The G2334 ones viewing G1473 me G1854 outside G5343 fled G575 from G1473 me.

“In the presence of all my hateful come into being reproach and the my neighbor greatly and fear the my well known the me see out doors run away from me.

David is being chided and scolded by his enemies. His neighbors fear him and his friends run when they see him coming. What a crazy situation. We do not know what happened, but obviously word spread to the masses, his neighbors, and his friends.

Psalm 31:12 G1950 I was forgotten G5616 as G3498 one dead G575 from G2588 the heart; G1096 I am become G5616 as G4632 a vessel G622 being destroyed.

“Filtered out just as if dead away from heart I come into being just as if vessel unscathed.

We have a couple of discrepancies in translations here. The last word ἀπόλλυμι apollumi translates “destroy” while απολωλος apololos translates “unscathed”. The context is that the hateful enemies reproach David and his neighbors and friends fear him and run from him. They filter him out as if he is dead. Yet David comes into being like a vessel unscathed. Somehow, whatever happened, he was left as if he was dead only to become unscathed. We can understand this by the next sentence.

Psalm 31:13 G3754 For G191 I heard G5589.2 the fault G4183 of many G3939 sojourning G2943 round about. G1722 In G3588   G4863 their gathering G1473   G260 together G1909 against G1473 me G3588   G2983 [2to take G3588   G5590 3my soul G1473   G1011 1they consulted].

“For hear tidbit/morsel attendants all around in the His above gathering at the same time on me the receive the my soul advise/deliverate.

The word translated “fault” here is incorrect. Some versions translated the word ψόγον “cold” while the LXX-WH does not have the accent making the word ψογον “food". The idea is hearing a morsel or a small portion of something like a bit of juicy gossip.

The words translated many πολύς “sojourning” παροικέω is also different in the LXX-WH and is the word παροικουντων meaning “attendants”.

Another unusual translation is the word 4863 sunagō συνάγω meaning “gather together” where the LXX-WH translates it 1996 επισυναχθηναι episunagō “above” or “on gathering together”. Note the demonstrative pronoun here which is accusative, plural, and masculine, “his”. David is saying that this is His above gathering. Not David’s, but Yahweh’s.

While David’s enemies, neighbors, and friends reproach him, David says that his body is unscathed in His above gathering and at the same time his soul is received as determined and counseled. The attendants are not necessarily human servants, but instead angelic attendants who heard and are advised to gather David’s soul in the above gathering.

Imagine David’s heartache. Yahweh, at some point, prior to David’s fall, showed him an amazement or an ecstasy about not staying dead but rising up in the gathering of the saints. Yahweh will show him another amazement shortly.

Peter quotes David in Acts, witnessing to the Jews regarding Pentecost and the fact that Jesus took back the keys of death and hell, and also led captivity captive. David knew what Yahweh would do, now Peter recalls it for the Jews at Jerusalem.

Acts 2:25 For David says in regard to Him, I saw the Lord constantly before me, for He is at my right hand that I may not be shaken or overthrown or cast down [from my secure and happy state].

26 Therefore my heart rejoiced and my tongue exulted exceedingly; moreover, my flesh also will dwell in hope [will encamp, pitch its tent, and dwell in hope in anticipation of the resurrection].

27 For You will not abandon my soul, leaving it helpless in Hades (the state of departed spirits), nor let Your Holy One know decay or see destruction [of the body after death].

28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will enrapture me [diffusing my soul with joy] with and in Your presence. [Ps. 16:8-11.]

The Amplified Bible. (1987). (Ac 2:25–28). La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.

David understood that he would die but that the Messiah would take people into paradise and that there they would wait to go to heaven.

Psalm 16:10 G3754 For G3756 you shall not abandon G1459   G3588   G5590 my soul G1473   G1519 in G86 Hades, G3761 nor G1325 shall you give G3588   G3741 your sacred one G1473   G1492 to see G1312 corruption.

  11 G1107 You made known G1473 to me G3598 the ways G2222 of life. G4137 You shall fill G1473 me G2167 of gladness G3326 with G3588   G4383 your face. G1473   G5059.5 Delightfulness G1722 is at G3588   G1188 your right G1473   G1519 unto G5056 the end.

David literally knew the plan that Yahweh had for the righteous, regarding death, paradise, harpazo, above gathering, and heaven. David is telling us that even though all the people around him, his enemies, neighbors, and friends reproach him, fear him, and run away from him, the attendants will be advised to receive David’s soul in Yahweh’s above gathering.

Psalm 31:14 G1473 But I G1161   G1909 [2upon G1473 3you G2962 4O lord G1679 1hoped]. G2036 I said, G1473 You G1510.2.2 are G3588   G2316 my God. G1473

“But I on you expect Yahweh I said you are the my Elohim.”

Hope is expectation, we expect that Yahweh will deliver our soul. While in our society hope is like “wishing”, expecting is actually like waiting at the bus stop for the bus. We don’t have to wish that the bus comes, we know it will come. This expectation gives us confidence that no matter what happens around us or to us, we expect Yahweh’s deliverance. The end is not here on earth for us. David knew and understood this.

Psalm 31:15 G1722 [2 are in G3588   G5495 3your hands G1473   G3588   G2819 1My lots]. G1473   G4506 Rescue G1473 me G1537 from G5495 the hand G2190 of my enemies, G1473   G2532 and G1537 from G3588 the G2614 ones pursuing G1473 me!

“In the your hands the time with my crying rescue me from out of hands hateful me and from out of the hunt down me.

There seems to be an extra two words here in the LXX-WH, ρυσαι which is a verb meaning “crying”, and με meaning “with”. Also the LXX-WH uses καιροι meaning “times” or “seasons” G2540 while the AP uses κλῆρος meaning “portion” or “lots”. We can see that if one word, such as “portion”, is misunderstood then the other words wouldn’t work in the sentence. But if we identify the missing words and the incorrect one, we have a sentence that does make sense.

David is saying that at that time he is in Yahweh’s hands crying. David is asking to be rescued from out of the hands of the hateful enemies and from those hunting him down. The thing that David is speaking of is that spiritually he is in Yahweh’s hands, so Yahweh should take David out of the physical hands of his enemies.

Psalm 31:16 G2014 Let [2appear G3588   G4383 1your face] G1473   G1909 unto G3588   G1401 your servant! G1473   G4982 Deliver G1473 me G1722 in G3588   G1656 your mercy! G1473

“Show forth your face on the your bondman save me in the your compassion.”

David is declaring himself a sold out servant. This means that he is not doing his own will. But David has to merge the will of Yahweh, who is spiritual, into the physical realm. David was doing a good job but someone set a trap for him which he fell into and now he needs that connection to Yahweh to strengthen him. So David says “show me your face”.

Psalm 31:17 G2962 O lord, G3361 may I not G2617 be disgraced, G3754 for G1941 I called upon G1473 you. G153 May [3be ashamed G3588 1the G765 2impious], G2532 and G2609 led down G1519 into G86 Hades.

“Yahweh me not downward shame that invoke you put to shame the ungodly and downward lead into Hades.”

The word 3361 μή is the word “not” while the word 3165 μέ is “me”. Is this a case of both words being needed in the sentence? David asks not to be shamed but instead shame the ungodly. The parallel is that David calls on Yahweh, but the ungodly should be led into Hades. David was concerned about his reputation. Enough people knew something slanderous about David. This was not David’s sin with Bathsheba and the killing of Uriah, because no one set David up with that sin. David did that himself.

Psalm 31:18 G216 [7speechless G1096 1Let 6become G3588 2the G5491 3lips G3588 4of the G1386 5deceitful]! G3588 even the G2980 ones speaking G2596 against G3588 the G1342 just G458 in lawlessness G1722 with G5243 pride G2532 and G1847.2 contempt.

“Speechless come into being the lips the deceitful the talking downward the righteous, lawlessness in haughtiness and annihilated.”

David is now asking in the courts of the Lord for judgment on those who are deceitful and talk down the righteous. He is imprecating for them to become speechless because they are speaking in lawlessness, they are prideful and should be annihilated. The word translated “contempt” is εξουδενώσει and means “annihilate” while in the LXX-WH εξουδενωσει is the word “annihilated”.  The difference in the tense is the accent mark. I’m not sure how translators arrived at “contempt”. Annihilated is in the dative case meaning it shows the indirect object of the verb, in this case the word “talking”. We could say ‘annihilate the ones talking down about the righteous’, or ‘the ones talking down the righteous, annihilated’. Whether past or present tense, David is commanding their obliteration.

Many people misunderstand what it means to “love one’s enemy” and have a hard time reconciling the imprecations we see in the Bible. Paul was walking in love when he delivered Hymeneus and Alexander to Satanas. How?

1 Timothy 1:20 G3739 whom G1510.2.3 are G* Hymeneus G2532 and G* Alexander; G3739 whom G3860 I delivered up G3588   G4567 to Satan, G2443 that G3811 they may be corrected G3361 not G987 to blaspheme.

These men were causing others to turn away from the faith. Delivering them up to Satanas is for their punishment so they stop causing others to lose their faith. Less sin for them and more believers for the kingdom. At Corinth, Paul corrected the church in a matter of sexual sins, where the church was not correcting the people involved. Paul says that the ruin of the flesh would deliver their spirit on the Day of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 5:5 G3860 to deliver up G3588   G5108 such G3588   G* to Satan G1519 for G3639 ruin G3588 of the G4561 flesh, G2443 that G3588 the G4151 spirit G4982 should be delivered G1722 in G3588 the G2250 day G3588 of the G2962 Lord G* Jesus.

In this case the offenders were believers in Christ but their sins became public knowledge. The destruction of the flesh would benefit their spirit so they could be delivered. This shows us that the action of delivering people to Satanas can stop people from losing their salvation. How do we reconcile Jesus’ words?

Matthew 44 G1473 But I G1161   G3004 say G1473 to you, G25 Love G3588   G2190 your enemies! G1473   G2127 Bless G3588 the ones G2672 cursing G1473 you! G2573 [2well G4160 1Do] G3588 to the ones G3404 detesting G1473 you! G2532 and G4336 pray G5228 for G3588 the ones G1908 threatening G1473 you G2532 and G1377 persecuting G1473 you!

Pray how? How do we pray for the one’s threatening and persecuting us? Like Paul and David? We always pray for people’s salvation, but sometimes people continue to reject Yahweh. We can bless them and do well to those people and pray for their salvation, but we can also stop them from causing others to lose their salvation and stop them from destroying an entire church with their widely known sins. Is it more loving to destroy their flesh now so they can be saved later? Or should we do nothing? Is it more loving for punishment to come so they do not blaspheme and lead others away from Jesus? Or should we do nothing? Remember, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is unforgivable, while blaspheming Jesus is forgivable. How may people will be unforgiven because they blasphemed the Holy Spirit?

Clearly Paul believes that the people publicly sinning, which influences the entire church, won’t be rising up in the harpazo, because he says that he is delivering them to Satanas so their spirit would be delivered on the Day of the Lord. He is noting that they are not going up to heaven but will remain on the outside of the kingdom of heaven until the Day of the Lord. David recognizes that we can love people without allowing them to destroy the saints. David was not a giant slayer for his own benefit, it was for the benefit of Israel, a nation of people who ultimately rejected Yahweh their Elohim. If we can stop people from destroying a nation that makes Yahweh their God we are walking in love. The ones who reject Yahweh reject him at their own peril.

Today, subversive media do not hide their hatred of Yahweh Elohim, our Lord Jesus Messiah. The new phrase parroted by them is “to watch out for those dangerous snow-colored believer-in-Christ ethnos (nation) supporters’. Yahweh scattered the ethnos so that there would not be a one world government. When people formed nations, they considered one nation the kingdom of heaven and another nation the kingdom of God. Those two nations were the most prosperous and successful nations in the world, but both are under great enemy assault today. Men thought that they could bring in the return of the King, Jesus Christ, if they enforced Biblical Christian laws and governance. Therefore those nations were founded with Christian principals in mind. Yet today, not knowing history and the Bible, people are offended by Christian morals and values. Are we to let the enemy destroy nations founded on Christ? As David says ‘make those who are deceitful  speechless, who talk down against the righteous, who are lawless, prideful and obliterate them’. David saved the kingdom. We however might say ‘bless them with speechlessness who are deceitful, and reject Jesus Christ and lead others astray, and let Satanas obliterate them for talking down the righteous, so that their spirit might be saved on the Day of the Lord’. We can imprecate and save our nation too.

Now we come to David’s amazement, or ecstasy.

Psalm 31:19 G5613 How G4183 abundant G3588 is the G4128 multitude G3588   G5544 of your graciousness, G1473   G2962 O lord, G3739 of which G2928 you hid G3588 to the G5399 ones fearing G1473 you. G1829.1 You brought it to completion G3588 to the G1679 ones hoping G1909 upon G1473 you, G1726 before G3588 the G5207 sons G3588   G444 of men.

“So that great the throng the your goodness Yahweh, this you hid the fearing you, work the expecting on you in the presence of the son the manfaced.”

Yahweh’s goodness is known in the great throng or great multitude. The word πλῆθος can also translate “host”. The saints become the host after the harpazo. The multitude know of Yahweh’s goodness. David says to conceal the people who fear Yahweh. Is Yahweh going to conceal or hide a great multitude of people? Isaiah says that “Yahweh will hide his people for a little while” which is alluding to the harpazo. Yahweh will hide/conceal his people who fear Him.

Isaiah 26:20 G897.2 Proceed, G2992 O my people! G1473   G1525 Enter G1519 into G3588   G5009 your inner chambers! G1473   G608 Lock G3588   G2374 your door! G1473   G613 Be concealed G3397 a little! G3745 as much as this, G3745 as much as that, G2193 until G302 whenever G3928 [4should go by G3588 1the G3709 2anger G2962 3 of the lord].

Isaiah calls for Yahweh’s people, the saints, to enter in and lock the door. In Revelation 4 we see a door open in heaven. Enter in and shut the door until the wrath of the Lord is finished, the tribulation.

David says that there is a great multitude or crowd who know Yahweh’s goodness. They will be hidden by Yahweh. We see the word εξειργάσω means “work”. We could say ‘work out the ones hoping on you in the presence of the Son of Man’. Who is the Son of Man? Jesus. Remember what Jesus said about the Day of the Lord?

Matthew 24:30 G2532 And G5119 then G5316 shall appear G3588 the G4592 sign G3588 of the G5207 son G3588   G444 of man G1722 in G3588 the G3772 heaven. G2532 And G5119 then G2875 [6shall beat their chest G3956 1all G3588 2the G5443 3tribes G3588 4of the G1093 5earth]. G2532 And G3708 they shall see G3588 the G5207 son G3588   G444 of man G2064 coming G1909 upon G3588 the G3507 clouds G3588 of the G3772 heaven G3326 with G1411 power G2532 and G1391 [2glory G4183 1great].

Why will people mourn? Because they rejected Jesus and He is the Son of Man. Jesus will now become the world ruler in His millennial kingdom. But what happens before the Day of the Lord? The harpazo, the concealment of the great multitude of saints who believe and hope on Him. How great is His goodness. Just in case we didn’t understand it, David mentions it again.

Psalm 31: 20 G2633.1 You shall hide G1473 them G1722 in G614 the concealment G3588   G4383 of your face G1473   G575 from G5016 the disturbance G444 of men. G4628.1 You shall shelter G1473 them G1722 in G4633 a tent G575 from G485 the dispute G1100 of tongues.

“Downward conceal them in hidden away the your face away from disturbance manfaced coverup them in tent away from disobedient tongues.”

“Downward conceal” is the process, Jesus sends angels with trumpets and shouts and meets us in the air, then we are hidden away in his presence, away from the disturbance of manfaced. What happens on the earth when the saints from earth and paradise go up to heaven? The seals are opened and as they are unsealed, men begin to kill men. The saints are covered in his tent or habitation, away from the disobedient tongues or rebellious tongues. As peace is taken off the earth and men begin to kill one another, their language becomes more and more rebellious towards Jesus Christ our Yahweh. While we are watching the seals being opened we sing a new song about being redeemed by the blood of the lamb and being made kings and priests. As we learned from Psalm 68, we are commissioned as kings. But the people on earth are living in a very harsh time where there is famine and war. Who is left on the earth? All those who rejected Jesus.

Psalm 31: 21 G2128 Blessed be G2962 the lord, G3754 for G2298.1 [2caused wonders G3588   G1656 1his mercy] G1473   G1722 in G4172 the city G4042 encompassed about.

“Bless Yahweh that admired his compassion in city region.”

David’s vision took him to the time of the harpazo and now he declares for everyone on the earth and in the cities to bless Yahweh! This is part of his ecstasy, his out of mind experience. When he sees the people hidden he sees that they are the ones who admired Yahweh and His compassion.

Psalm 31:22 G1473 But I G1161   G2036 said G1722 in G3588   G1611 my change of state, G1473   G641 I am thrown away G575 from G4383 in front G3588   G3788 of your eyes. G1473   G1223 On account of G3778 this G1522 you heard G3588 of the G5456 voice G3588   G1162 of my supplication G1473   G1722 in G3588   G2896 my crying out G1473   G4314 to G1473 you.

“But I said in the my astonishment hurl off away from face the your eyes by means of this hearken the sound the my prayer in the my scream towards you.”

David had been heavy-hearted, he ached and wanted to see Yahweh’s face, but then he realized just how amazing that vision was. During this vision David cried to Yahweh, not to look at him, just to listen to him. David is so remorseful and amazed that he simply doesn’t feel worthy to be looked at.

Psalm 31:23 G25 Let [3love G3588 4the G2962 5 lord G3956 1all G3588   G3741 2his sacred ones]! G1473   G3754 For G225 [3truth G1567 2requires G2962 1 the lord]; G2532 and G467 he recompenses G3588 [2to the ones G4057 1extremely] G4160 having G5243 pride.

“Love the Yahweh all the his holy that truth seek out Yahweh and repay the superabundant manufacture haughtiness.”

David comes to his conclusion and exhorts everyone to love Yahweh. Everyone should seek truth. He declares that Yahweh should repay the many many abundant people manufacturing pride.

Psalm 31:24 G407 Let [6be manly G2532 7and G2901 8be fortified G3588 9 in G2588 10your heart G1473   G3956 1all G3588 2the ones G1679 3hoping G1909 4upon G2962 5 the lord]!

“Act like a man and empower the your heart all the expecting on Yahweh.”

David uses this phrase a couple of times, “act like a man”. What he means is “be a man, stand up tall”. There is nothing wrong with people who are men, even if society has become effeminate. Strong men are needed. David could not have killed so many giants if he was effeminate. To empower your heart is to “strengthen your heart”. How does one do that? Spend time with Yahweh. Remember the ones expecting on Yahweh will be the ones hidden in His tent while the earth is in the tribulation.

David had a bad situation in his life but we see him repentant and remorseful. He knows that there are some who hid the evil morally depraved people, yet all the people, his neighbors and friends, turned away from him. In that anguish David cried out to see Yahweh’s face. What Yahweh did was to give him a vision that was not part of David’s mind, it was out of his mind. The vision was of a time when multitudes of people would be concealed or hidden, and that David himself would be among them after his soul was saved in paradise. David expects that Yahweh will deliver those who fear Yahweh, so David says “be manly and jump for joy”.
