As in Heaven; Merkâbâh-Chariot Throne; After the Church Age

Mankind has been invited to interact with the sons of God in worship and spiritual ceremony taking place in the heavens. Unfortunately, we lack comprehension pertaining to heavenly existence as we have lost much of this knowledge. John saw a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. By itself this seems strange, but when we combine John’s visions with those of others, we see a revelation emerge that has been lost. We have to remember that the Pharisees are not our plumb line for truth. They were the compromisers who stayed in temple service after the political move of appointing a non-Aaronic high priest, Jonathan Apphus (aka Maccabee), causing defilement to the temple service. Temple service was based on a solar calendar which was also changed to a lunar calendar during the Hasmonean era. Due to this further defilement, some of those associated with the temple service left Jerusalem, moving to other parts of Israel, Egypt, and Syria. Those who stayed, altered text, laws, and spiritual service so that by the time Jesus came to earth, the holy spiritual service was in chaos. Future rabbi’s and Masorete’s continued to alter text, laws, and spiritual service, eliminating the knowledge of the sons of God from our understanding. When we read a book like Revelation we struggle to understand it because we have a hard time comparing it with Old Covenant writings as we are relying on people who intentionally compromised and changed the earthly connection to the heavenly sphere. We can reconnect with this lost knowledge if we keep these historical details in mind, before we simply believe someone or something that seems spiritually Jewish.

Jesus is our plumb line and a standard for the people. He taught us to pray. What he taught us has some clues to understanding the spiritual realm that was in the process of being erased during his time. We live during a time that the kingdom of the Father is not in authority on the earth, and we now wait for the kingdom to be restored. There is no physical temple in Israel, but we are now the temple of the Holy Spirit. Jesus gave us a window here, he said ‘as in heaven, also upon the earth’. This tells us that as the heavenly realm functions, so should the earthly realm function. As the heavenly spiritual service exists, so also upon the earth. As the heavenly laws exist, so also upon the earth.

Matthew 6:9 G3779 So G3767 then G4336 you pray! G1473   G3962 Our father, G1473   G3588 the one G1722 in G3588 the G3772 heavens, G37 sanctify G3588   G3686 your name! G1473

Notice that the first phrase reads “come your dominion” or “appear your sovereignty” or “arise your royal power”. The second phrase reads “birth your desire”.

1b) of what God wishes to be done by us

2) will, choice, inclination, desire, pleasure

θέλημα
thelēma thel'-ay-mah From the prolonged form of G2309; a determination (properly the thing), that is, (actively) choice (specifically purpose, decree; abstractly volition) or (passively) inclination KJV Usage: desire, pleasure, will.

The second phrase can also read “come into existence your will” or “come to pass your precepts”. This entire section is a declaration of what is in heaven which should also be on the earth.

“Appear your sovereignty, birth your desire, as in heaven also upon the earth.” “Come your dominion, come into existence your will, as in heaven also upon the earth.” “Arise your royal power, come to pass your precepts, as in heaven also upon the earth.”

Why is this relevant? It is easy to dismiss what we see in the Book of Revelation because we do not understand what goes on in heaven. It really isn’t our fault; since the destruction of the temple people changed and reordered spiritual service. We have forgotten the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray “as it is in heaven, also upon on the earth”

Jesus has finished his letters to the seven churches. John recorded them as Jesus spoke, and now, after writing the seven letters, John sees a door being opened in heaven.

Revelation 4:1 G3326 After G3778 these things G1492 I saw, G2532 and G2400 behold, G2374 a door G455 being opened G1722 in G3588 the G3772 heaven. 4536LSJ Gloss:σάλπιγξ a war-trumpet, trump
Dodson:σάλπιγξ a trumpet a trumpet, the sound of a trumpet.
Thayer:
1) a trumpet

σάλπιγξ
salpigx sal'-pinx Perhaps from G4535 (through the idea of quavering or reverberation); a trumpet

To understand this trumpet we should go back to the context of the first trumpet in the Bible. We should be aware that the Hebrew has six words for trumpet but the Greek has only one. The rabbi’s in later years attempted to redefine this trumpet when they translated the Greek back into Hebrew, which then throws our understanding into chaos. The rabbi’s took their own personal opinions and altered the text. As we should be aware, the Greek text is older and more accurate. Here we have an example of the words being changed somewhere between 300CE to 1000 CE, so as to do away with the spiritual nature of life and our holy service to Yahweh.

Exodus 19:16 G1096 And it came to pass G1161   G3588   G2250 [3day G3588 1on the G5154 2third], G1096 happening G4314 towards G3722 dawn, G2532 and G1096 there were G5456 voices, G2532 and G796 lightnings, G2532 and G3507 [2clouds G1105.2 1overcast] G1909 upon G3735 mount G* Sinai; G5456 the voice G3588 of the G4536 trumpet G2278 sounded G3173 greatly, G2532 and G4422 [7were terrified G3956 1all G3588 2the G2992 3people G3588   G1722 4in G3588 5the G3925 6camp].

G2532 And G2564 the lord called G2962   G* Moses G1909 unto G3588 the G2884.2 top G3588 of the G3735 mountain; G2532 and G305 Moses ascended. G

The spiritual aspect of the children of Jacob meeting with Yahweh Elohim in the wilderness is an event that was to be memorialized. In our modern day we have changed this to be known as Rosh Hashanah, but there was no such holy day in biblical times. This was to be the day of the memorial of trumpets. The biblical name was Yom Teruah. Teruah is one of the six words for trumpet in the Hebrew that come from the one Greek word salpigx. It was not supposed to be the New Year, it was a holy day in the seventh month, on the first day.

Lev 23:24 G2980 Speak G3588 to the G5207 sons G* of Israel, G3004 saying! G3588 The G3376 [2month G3588   G1442 1seventh], G1520 day one G3588 of the G3376 month G1510.8.3 will be G1473 to you G372 a rest, G3422 a memorial G4536 of trumpets, G2822 [2convocation G39 1a holy] G3588 to the G2962 lord

According to Paul, this memorial of trumpets has all the same elements of the harpazo. Paul knew his readers understood the day of the memorial of trumpets, so when he explained the harpazo he was writing in that context. Remember, in heaven, also upon the earth. Paul thought we would understand that this was the day to remember the Lord God coming in the clouds to meet with His people with shouts and trumpets. Paul would probably not have imagined that rabbi’s would later change the entire holy day. The religious leaders had already changed from the solar calendar to a lunar calendar about 175 years earlier, but Paul probably would not have imagined that they would have changed the entire holy day.

John sees a portal open and hears a trumpet speaking, telling him to “ascend up here”. Literally he was to step up as if he was at the bottom of a staircase. He was being told to rise up, and the trumpet voice says he will show John what must be birthed after this. It sounds a bit weird, but let’s ask the question, “after what?” After the time of the churches. Jesus just gave John letters for seven churches and concluded each letter with a message to the overcomers. After the church age, the overcomer receives something, then what will come into existence after the church age is what the trumpet voice is going to show John. John was going to learn what comes after the church age.

John was not yet in the spirit. John was physically seeing and hearing as he was with Jesus dictating the seven letters. Now John is going to be birthed in the spirit. His body is staying on earth, his spirit is ascending to heaven, through the opened portal, toward the trumpet voice.

πνεῦμα
pneuma pnyoo'-mah From G4154; a current of air, that is, breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively a spirit, that is, (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, daemon, or (divine) God, Christ’s spirit, the Holy spirit KJV Usage: ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind.

To understand the things of the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Wisdom, the Holy Spirit, we have to confess Jesus as Lord and Savior so that we will have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Only holy people have the Holy Spirit within, and those who confess Jesus as Lord are sealed with the Holy Spirit  for the day of redemption. In the years prior to Pentecost, people had to actually be holy, meaning they had to live holy, and the Holy Spirit would be upon them. Remember there used to be a temple for atonement. This is why we have to recognize, without the temple on the earth, no Jesus rejector can have the Holy Spirit, because Jesus is the only atonement for sin. This is true for Jews and non-Jews alike. Therefore there are no true Jewish prophets unless they have confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior before men. Again, this is why we cannot trust Jewish mystics, because they are not able to connect with Yahweh without the Holy Spirit.

2b) of laws, to be made, laid down
2c) lies in the power of the evil one, i.e. is held in subjection by the devil

κεῖμαι
keimai ki'-mahee Middle voice of a primary verb; to lie outstretched (literally or figuratively) KJV Usage: be (appointed, laid up, made, set), lay, lie.

The word keimai simply means something is put in a place. The word situated is properly supplied. There is a throne placed in heaven. There is a throne set in heaven. The word throne, thronos, has seven different Hebrew words to the one Greek word just like we saw with the word trumpet. Isaiah had seen this throne around 740 BCE.

Isaiah 6:1 G2532 And G1096 it came to pass G3588 the G1763 year G3739 of which G599 [3died G3588   G935 1king G* 2Uzziah], G1492 I beheld G3588 the G2962 lord G2521 sitting G1909 upon G2362 [2throne G5308 1a high], G2532 and G1869 being lifted up; G2532 and G4134 [3 was full G3588 1the G3624 2house] G3588   G1391 of his glory.

Isaiah sees the Lord sitting upon a high throne. Isaiah sees His glory. A portal or window into heaven opened and Isaiah could see and hear the activities of the heavenly sons of God. About 147 years later Ezekiel has a similar vision.

Ezekiel 1:4 G2532 And G1492 I beheld, G2532 and G2400 behold, G4151 a wind G1808 lifting up G2064 came G575 from G1005 the north, G2532 and G3507 [2cloud G3173 1a great] G1722 with G1473 it, G2532 and G5338 brightness G2945 round about G1473 it, G2532 and G4442 fire G1823 flashing. G2532 And G1722 in G3588 the G3319 midst G1473 of it G5613 was as G3706 the vision G2240.1 of molten bronze G1722 in G3319 the midst G3588 of the G4442 fire, G2532 and G5338 brightness G1722 in G1473 it.

The wind blew and a great cloud with flashing fire came. The Ophanim and the Cherubim are bringing the chariot throne of God, the merkâbâh, to earth. A portal opens, heavenly beings touch the earth. We are to pray ‘as in heaven, also upon the earth’.

Ezekiel has these experiences and starts writing seven years before the destruction of Jerusalem. Ezekiel was living in what we know today as Iraq. He sees the merkâbâh and tells us of the glory leaving the temple. He tells us why the glory leaves the temple as the Lord shows him the defilements going on inside. This is powerful. There are Cherubim and Ophanim escorting the chariot throne to the earth. As it is in heaven so also upon the earth. The Creator, our Lord God, shows up to retrieve the Glory and allow Jerusalem to fall.

John says there was someone sitting on the throne. This throne is not moving or coming to earth, John instead is moving towards the throne. This is different, as with Moses, Isaiah, and Ezekiel, the heavens came down to earth. But here John is going up to heaven.

While there have always been earthly thrones, David gave Solomon specific plans for the chariot throne, the merkâbâh. The Cherubim closed the entrance to Paradise in the garden so that Adam and Eve would not eat from the tree of Life. The Cherubim cover the mercy seat. Unfortunately, in the wilderness the Cherubim were named and worshipped. The Cherubim ride the chariot throne, the Ophanim open the portal for the merkâbâh. Solomon represents both the Cherubim and the Ophanim in the temple. As it is in heaven so also on the earth.

The plan was, is, and will be, as in heaven, also upon the earth. The representations being made in the temple are to remind us of the spiritual nature of heaven. We are not the center of the universe, we are just a small part of a larger story among other sons of God. Let’s look at this in the Hebrew.

Ezekiel confirms that what he saw before the destruction of Jerusalem was the chariot throne, the merkâbâh. Several years later Ezekiel is seeing the future millennial temple. Isaiah 18 tells us that the Ethiopians will bring the ark back to the temple. There is a connection between heaven and earth, a spiritual connection.

What we see are the activities of heaven brought into visual representation in the tabernacle and the temple. The glory cloud of the tabernacle and temple happened on the earth; these were not visions, but actual manifestations on the earth. People heard the trumpet voice in the wilderness. Then we have some people who see through the portals of heaven and confirm these earthly visual representations. We then have future prophecy that these heavenly activities will be re-established on the earth in the millennial kingdom. As in heaven, also upon the earth.

There has always been interconnected activity between the sons of God and humans on the earth. Without the temple it was simply easier to erase this knowledge of heavenly beings and the portals of heaven. The temple gave us an earthly representation of ceremonial service in heaven and a place to connect to heaven. It was no longer relevant in the minds of the rabbi’s and the Masoretes because they mistakenly believed the only place for these dimensions to merge was the temple. However, because of their rejection of Jesus as Messiah they did not explore the possibility that the Holy Spirit and the sons of God are connecting with individuals who are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Aren’t they all ministering spirits sent forth to minister to the heirs of salvation? Aren’t we the temple of the Living God?

Spiritual blindness was a result of the knowledge of good and evil. But Yahweh found ways to teach people. When Yahweh came to talk with Jacob’s heirs who were just led out of captivity they were frightened. The way to commemorate this spiritual experience was to make it a day of the memorial of trumpets. We are to remember the day Yahweh Elohim came to speak with them. We are also to remember the day the Holy Spirit came to dwell in humans. These are our points of contact on the earth with the spiritual realm. John is about to see what will take place after the church age. The first thing he sees is a throne and someone sitting on it. What does he see next? Arise your royal power, come to pass your precepts, as in heaven, also upon the earth.
