Rewards; Mega’s and Microns; Fire Apocalypse; Servants, Prophets, Holy, and Reverent

After the saints watch their prayers being thrown to earth as the seventh seal is opened, they show up at the coronation of Jesus when he gives rewards to his people. The timing of this event is midway through the tribulation. At this time the two witnesses have been on the earth for three and one half years and have just been murdered. They will rise on the third day and join the coronation event. Six of the trumpets have been blown and the seventh is the announcement of Jesus now taking over the world. This transition will not take place without a fight.

The twenty four elders who are seated on thrones before the Father fall down in worship and thanksgiving. They announce that the Almighty Lord God reigns. They say that the nations are angry, and now comes the Father’s wrath. The wrath of the Lamb came upon the earth with the six trumpet blasts, now it is time for the wrath of the Father with the seven bowl judgments. The angel announced that the kingdoms of the world are now Jesus’ and the elders announce that it is time for the wrath of the Father. It is also announced by the elders that it is time for the dead in Christ to be judged and wages given to the servants, the prophets, to the holy ones, and to those fearing His name. Wages are given to the small and the great. The elders also announce that it is time to corrupt the ones corrupting the earth.

Revelation 11:18 (KJV)
18  And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

This is the time that the saints are given their rewards. Rewards are a wage or a recompense. The idea of a reward is explained by Paul.

1 Corinthians 3:8 G3588 [2the one G5452 3planting G1161 1And] G2532 and G3588 the one G4222 watering G1520 are one; G1510.2.6   G1538 and each G1161   G3588 [2his own G2398   G3408 3wage G2983 1shall receive] G2596 according to G3588 his own G2398   G2873 toil.

Paul is specifically talking about a reward for making disciples of others; planting and watering. He goes on to explain that all our work, all the things we have done on the earth will become publicly recognized or visible on a specific day.

Our works go through a fire apocalypse. An uncovering by fire. What does this mean? Fire melts or burns whatever it comes near. It usually only chars things, but what if it burns away what is useless and unneeded but leaves other treasures?

1 Corinthians 3:13.....G2532 and G1538 of each G3588   G2041 work G3697 [4what it is like G1510.2.3   G3588 1the G4442 2fire G1381 3shall prove]

The quality of our deeds will be tested and proved. If we take our deeds, or our tasks, and burn away the unnecessary parts, will we find gold or silver? What if our deeds were performed with a pure heart? Regardless of the outcome, will there be diamonds after the fire apocalypse? What if our tasks were enacted without pure motives, but instead for our own personal gain or fame? Will they disappear in the fire?

1 Corinthians 3:14 G1536 If anyone's G3588  G2041 work G3306 abides G3739 which G2026 he built upon, G3408 [2a wage G2983 1he shall receive].

If any deeds or works which were constructed remain after the fire apocalypse, that one will take hold of a reward. The wage is for building upon the foundation that Jesus is Lord. Paul is explaining that it doesn’t matter who teaches us about Jesus, we learn a little from many people. We are not “of” anyone but Christ. Therefore it is only important that we make people disciples by planting and watering the foundation.

1 Corinthians 3:15 G1536 If anyone's G3588   G2041 work G2618 shall be incinerated, G2210 he shall suffer loss;

ζημιόω
zēmioō dzay-mee-o'-o From G2209; to injure, that is, (reflexively or passively) to experience detriment KJV Usage: be cast away, receive damage, lose, suffer loss.

If someone’s deeds are completely consumed, then he sustains damage. He doesn’t get paid for his toil and labor, he doesn’t receive a reward for enduring and suffering.

1 Corinthians 3:15...G1473   G1161 but G4982 he shall be delivered; G3779 but thus G1161   G5613 as G1223 through G4442 fire.

4982 LSJ Gloss:σώζω to save, keep

However, loss of wages or rewards does not mean loss of salvation. Instead, the one who loses his wages is still saved through fire. The fire burns away the perishable wood, hay, or stubble, but salvation remains. The treasure, the precious stones and metal of deliverance survive the fire and are not incinerated. What Paul is saying is that even if one does not receive a wage or reward after the fire apocalypse, that one still receives salvation. In other words, everyone who is standing before Jesus when he is coronated has either risen up from the dead or was seized off the earth (harpazo’d).  These people are the redeemed, they are already saved. Some will receive a wage and some will not. All of those that are redeemed will have their deeds pass through fire.

Paul then reminds us of something we might have forgotten.

1 Corinthians 3:16 G3756 Do you not G1492 know G3754 that G3485 [2a temple G2316 3of God G1510.2.5 1you are], G2532 and G3588 the G4151 spirit G3588   G2316 of God G3611 lives G1722 in G1473 you?

3485 LSJ Gloss:ναός the dwelling of a god, a temple
Dodson:ναός a temple, shrine
a temple, a shrine, that part of the temple where God himself resides.
Thayer:
1) used of the temple at Jerusalem, but only of the sacred edifice (or sanctuary) itself, consisting of the Holy place and the Holy of Holies (in classical Greek it is used of the sanctuary or cell of the temple, where the image of gold was placed which is distinguished from the whole enclosure)
2) any heathen temple or shrine
3) metaph. the spiritual temple consisting of the saints of all ages joined together by and in Christ

ναός
naos nah-os' From a primary word ναίω naiō (to dwell); a fane, shrine, temple KJV Usage: shrine, temple.

3611 LSJ Gloss:οἰκέω to inhabit, occupy
Dodson:οἰκέω I inhabit, dwell I inhabit, dwell, indwell.
Thayer:
1) to dwell in

οἰκέω
oikeō oy-key'-o From G3624; to occupy a house that is, reside (figuratively inhabit, remain, inhere); by implication to cohabit KJV Usage: dwell. See also G3625.

Paul says, “..,don’t you remember that you are the dwelling of God and the Holy Spirit inhabits you?” The question might seem out of place, but Paul is explaining that people who are redeemed do not lose salvation, even if they lose their wage. The above congregation have been redeemed, but are not judged until the seventh trumpet. They are saved and spared from the wrath on the earth. The Almighty, Most High, Eternal Father would not leave one of his dwellings on the earth to be harmed by the devil.

Now Paul has a warning for evil people.

1 Corinthians 3:17 G1536 If anyone G3588 [2the G3485 3temple G3588   G2316 4of God G5351 1corrupts], G5351 [2shall corrupt G3778 3this one G3588   G2316 1God]; G3588 for the G1063   G3485 temple G3588   G2316 of God G39 is holy, G1510.2.3   G3748 which G1510.2.5 you are. G1473

5351 LSJ Gloss:φθείρω to ruin, waste, spoil, destroy
Dodson:φθείρω I corrupt, spoil, destroy I corrupt, spoil, destroy, ruin.
Thayer:
1) to corrupt, to destroy
1a) in the opinion of the Jews, the temple was corrupted or "destroyed" when anyone defiled or in the slightest degree damaged anything in it, or if its guardians neglected their duties
1b) to lead away a Christian church from that state of knowledge and holiness in which it ought to abide
1c) to be destroyed, to perish
1d) in an ethical sense, to corrupt, deprave

φθείρω
phtheirō fthi'-ro Probably strengthened from φθίω phthiō (to pine or waste): properly to shrivel or wither, that is, to spoil (by any process) or (genitive) to ruin (especially figuratively by moral influences, to deprave) KJV Usage: corrupt (self), defile, destroy.

If someone corrupts the dwelling of God, God will destroy that one. What does this mean? If someone causes a redeemed person to be spoiled, ruined, shrivel, or wither away from the Father and the Son, that one will be wasted. How many evil people continually attempt to lead young or unknowledgeable Christians away from the Father, Christ, and the Church? Those who spoil the dwelling of God, the very dwelling that the Holy Spirit  resides in, will be corrupted by God because the dwelling of God is holy. We may not feel holy. We may not look holy. We may not understand that the Holy Spirit dwells inside of us. But if we believe that Jesus died and rose up (the hinge Paul spoke of to the Thessalonians), then we are a holy temple. We are redeemed, we are saved, we are a holy convocation, an above congregation, and we may receive rewards or wages for our toil and labor of building the Body of Christ on the earth.

Solomon helps us to understand rewards and evil people. He tells us that there will be people who stood faithfully against evil. These evil people took away the righteous peoples’ labor, or their building upon the Body of Christ. The evil people will be afraid because the righteous people will have a sudden salvation.

Wisdom of Solomon 5:1-5 (DRV)
1  Then shall the just stand with great constancy against those that have afflicted them, and taken away their labours.
2  These seeing it, shall be troubled with terrible fear, and shall be amazed at the suddenness of their unexpected salvation.
3  Saying within themselves, repenting, and groaning for anguish of spirit: These are they, whom we had some time in derision, and for a parable of reproach.
4  We fools esteemed their life madness, and their end without honour.
5  Behold how they are numbered among the children of God, and their lot is among the saints.

The evil people, inspired by the devil, mocked and chided the righteous ones, and they believed that the righteous were crazy. Yet now they see that the people they treated poorly (those who love Jesus Christ), are numbered among the children of God. The people who love Jesus Christ have an inheritance among the saints. Solomon tells us that the hope of the wicked is as dust. Remember, Paul told us that God will corrupt them because they corrupt the temple, who are the righteous saints. The righteous have eternal life.

Wisdom of Solomon 5:14-23 (DRV)
14  For the hope of the wicked is as dust, which is blown away with the wind, and as a thin froth which is dispersed by the storm: and a smoke that is scattered abroad by the wind: and as the remembrance of a guest of one day that passeth by.
15  But the just shall live for evermore: and their reward is with the Lord, and the care of them with the most High.
16  Therefore shall they receive a kingdom of glory, and a crown of beauty at the hand of the Lord: for with his right hand he will cover them, and with his holy arm he will defend them.

The righteous have a reward with the Lord. The Most High God cares for them. The righteous saints receive a kingdom. They are crowned by the Lord. Then the saints, the above congregation, get ready for battle. The Lord will dress his people in armor to take revenge on the enemies.

Notice Solomon reveals that the righteous have a sudden unexpected salvation. Then they are a holy convocation, or an above congregation of righteous saints who have eternal life and are crowned by the Lord. They are now part of a new kingdom, they are kings and priests.

Wisdom of Solomon 5:17  And his zeal will take armour, and he will arm the creature for the revenge of his enemies.
18  He will put on justice as a breastplate, and will take true judgment instead of a helmet.
19  He will take equity for an invincible shield:
20  And he will sharpen his severe wrath for a spear, and the whole world shall fight with him against the unwise.
21  Then shafts of lightning shall go directly from the clouds, as from a bow well bent, they shall be shot out, and shall fly to the mark.
22  And thick hail shall be cast upon them from the stone casting wrath: the water of the sea shall rage against them, and the rivers shall run together in a terrible manner.
23  A mighty wind shall stand up against them, and as a whirlwind shall divide them: and their iniquity shall bring all the earth to a desert, and wickedness shall overthrow the thrones of the mighty.

At the end of the tribulation, the saints come back with the Lord to fight and overthrow the evil rulers who gather to fight the Lamb. By this time the Beast has killed the woman, Babylon, who rides the Beast. Meaning that Babylon once controlled the Beast but now the Beast will rid himself of his oppressor. Those left in control on the earth are under the command of the Beast. The Beast then believes he can make war against the Lamb.  Solomon saw these warring saints and wrote about it for our understanding. When we combine this with John’s writing we have a clear picture of the future of the saints.

Those who follow after the devil do not understand the mysteries of God. They believe what they have been told, which is that they are fighting to rule the world. We know that it is an impossibility for them to have eternal control over the Creators creation. They do not understand immortality. They believe they can achieve it though a fallen created being, the devil. They have been blinded and misled. Therefore they do not hope for rewards. Rewards are for righteousness. Rewards are for blameless souls.

Wisdom of Solomon 2:22-23 (KJVApocrypha)
22  As for the mysteries of God, they knew them not: neither hoped they for the wages of righteousness, nor discerned a reward for blameless souls.
23  For God created man to be immortal, and made him to be an image of his own eternity.

Now as we remember the above congregation in heaven we see that they are all assembled before the Lord as the twenty four Elders declare that Jesus Christ is now King over all the kingdoms of the world and he shall reign for ages and ages.

Revelation 11:18 G2532 And G3588 the G1484 nations G3710 were angry, G2532 and G2064 [2came G3588   G3709 1your wrath], G1473

We should ask why the nations left on the earth have been provoked to anger. The dominant people rebelled against the passive people left on the earth with the opening of the seals. There is death and destruction throughout the planet. Then the prayers of the saints were thrown to earth and every word ever prayed, echoed in their ears. They heard every song, every cry for help, every thank you, and every prayer meeting ever held. Then they endured the wrath of the Lamb. Every trumpet blast caused the earth to rebel against the devil and his people. Now the seventh trumpet announces the new King, and the devil and his people are angry.

Revelation 11:18...G2532 and G3588 the G2540 time G3588 of the G3498 dead G2919 to be judged, G2532 and G1325 to give G3588 the G3408 wage G3588 to G1401 your bondmen, G1473   G3588 to the G4396 prophets, G2532 and G3588 to the G39 holy ones,

προφήτης
prophētēs prof-ay'-tace From a compound of G4253 and G5346; a foreteller (“prophet”); by analogy an inspired speaker; by extension a poet KJV Usage: prophet.

The first group of people that we see mentioned are servants, doulos. These are people who serve the Lord by selling themselves to the service of the Lord. They are not occasional servants who lend a hand to an organization once in a while. The next group of people we see are the prophets, prophētēs. The prophets speak for God. As we know, not everyone who claims to be speaking for God actually speaks for God. Some people simply want recognition and the rewards of men, but true prophets will be rewarded in front of everyone. The third group recognized are the holy people. All the people who chose the Lord Jesus are redeemed and holy. The redeemed are rewarded. We might look at this as a college graduation where each school is recognized individually. We have another category, and it is the group of people who fear the name of the Lord.

Revelation 11:18...G2532 and G3588 to the ones G5399 fearing G3588   G3686 your name, G1473   G3588 to the ones G3397 small G2532 and G3588 to the G3173 great,

This group appearing at the awards ceremony are those who feared the Almighty, Most High, Eternal Father; his character and reputation. This is an interesting group because there are many who do not fear the Creator of the heavens and earth, yet these redeemed individuals fear His name. It might be possible that once they heard of Him they were not only in awe of Him, they respected Him and lived so as not to offend His character. The summation is that all people small and great are receiving rewards. All the small, mikron, and all the great, megas. This tells us that microns, the smallest in size or ability or age, are rewarded. The mega’s, the largest in size or ability or age, are also rewarded. The mega’s are no more important than the microns. All redeemed, whether mega or micron, are ready to see what rewards endure the fire apocalypse.

Revelation 11:18… G2532 and G1311 to corrupt G3588 the ones G1311 corrupting G3588 the G1093 earth.

diaphtheirō dee-af-thi'-ro From G1223 and G5351; to rot thoroughly, that is, (by implication) to ruin (passively decay utterly, figuratively pervert)
KJV Usage: corrupt, destroy, perish.

The next aspect of the seventh trumpet is the destroying of the corrupt. The evil humans and sons of God who ruined the earth are now about to endure the wrath of the Father. The twenty four Elders are declaring the start of the bowl judgments. The Father now pours out His wrath against His enemies.

Now if we combine Revelation 11:18 with what Paul told us in 1 Corinthians 3 we have a clearer picture. All our deeds, tasks, works, and labors, are made visible and tried by a revealing fire. They might look like a blob of coal, but the fire will reveal the treasures inside. Isaiah told us that the Lord would come in strength and dominion and would bring rewards.

Isaiah 40:10 G2400 Behold, G2962 the Lord. G2962 The lord G3326 [2with G2479 3strength G2064 1comes], G2532 even G3588 the G1023 arm G3326 with G2955.1 dominion. G2400 Behold, G3588   G3408 his wage G1473   G3326 is with G1473 him, G2532 and G3588 the G2041 work G1726 before G1473 him.

Isaiah tells us that this is an announcement that was made to the ends of the earth. Did you hear it? It has been hidden from humans, but make no mistake, the good sons of God, fallen sons of God, and all the elements, heard the declaration. Isaiah says to all of his readers that the deliverer is coming to you and he has rewards. He has work to do.

Isaiah 62:11 G2400 For behold, G1063   G2962 the lord G4160 made it G190.8 audible G2193 unto G2078 the end G3588 of the G1093 earth. G2036 Say G3588 to the G2364 daughter G* of Zion! G2400 Behold, G3588 the G4990 deliverer G1473 [2to you G3854 1is come], G2192 having G3588   G1438 his own G3408 wage G3326 with G1473 him, G2532 and G3588   G2041 his work G1473   G4253 before G4383 his face. G1473
  12 G2532 And G2564 he shall call G1473 them, G2992 [2People G39 1Holy] G3084 being ransomed G5259 by G2962 the lord . G1473 But you G1161   G2564 shall be called G1934 [2Being Anxiously Sought After G4172 1A City], G2532 and G3756 not G1459 Being Abandoned

Now in hindsight we can see that most of Israel forsook the prophecies and rejected the Messiah. We know that there was a plan in place to redeem all who would believe. Therefore the people who believe on Jesus as Messiah, believing that he died and rose up, are the ones being ransomed. Once Jesus conquered the grave and took back the keys, he set the captives free in Paradise, where he also gives things to the overcomers. These people are called a Holy People, a holy convocation, and an above congregation. These believers will be anxiously sought after as they will be kings and priests on the earth during the millennial kingdom. Jerusalem will be a wonderful city with a temple one mile square where Jesus rules and reigns.

Jesus reiterates Isaiah’s words as John records for us.

Revelation 22:12 G2400 Behold, G2064 I come G5036 quickly, G2532 and G3588   G3408 my wage G1473   G3326 is with G1473 me, G591 to render G1538 to each G5613 as G3588   G2041 [2work G1510.8.3 3will be G1473 1his].

The place where people receive their wages is called the rostrum which is a platform. Think of an awards ceremony or a place where someone would give a public address. The Greek word for this is bēma. This is a stage where a ceremony will take place. The announcement of the seventh seal will kick off this ceremony. We will look at this next week. Also, the above congregation, the holy saints, will have something else to do. They will judge angels.
