Reconciled Now; Off Reconciled to Heaven; New in Christ; Changed

If we are believers in Jesus Messiah we have been reconciled. Reconciliation is to be changed, exchanged, or transformed. It is something done for us that we could not do for ourselves. We cannot reconcile ourselves on our own or in our own strength. We cannot save ourselves, we needed a savior to shed his blood for us. That was what was required. We cannot decide that we will be saved by our own blood and we cannot pay our own ransom, Jesus Messiah did that for us. Now what is required is for us to believe he did that for us. We are to confess out loud and believe. Then we are justified, righteous, sanctified, and reconciled. We will be redeemed on the Day of Redemption. Today we call others to repent and be saved so that they can be reconciled as we are. Who does the reconciling or the changing to bring us back to the Elohim? Jesus Messiah. The change that takes place is a downward change from heaven to earth. We have the logos of reconciliation and it is a ministry or service to bring others to the position where they can be downward changed as well.

There are times when one word can open our understanding into so many things. What we once saw as flat becomes multidimensional. We may have read these scriptures many times without a deep understanding of the words reconcile, reconciled, or reconciling, and that made those scriptures flat. But once we see the depth of this word then the scriptures wake up into a new multidimensional meaning. There is “changed”, there is “changed from heaven to earth”, there is “changed away from heaven to earth”, then there is “changed on the way to heaven”. Let’s explore.

2 Corinthians 5:17 G5620 So that G1536 if anyone G1722 be in G5547 Christ, G2537 there is a new G2937 creation, G3588 the G744 old things G3928 passed away; G2400 behold, G1096 [2have become G2537 3new G3588 1all things]. G3956

  18 G3588   G1161 And G3956 all things G1537 are of G3588   G2316 God, G3588 of the G2644 reconciling G1473 us G1438 to himself G1223 through G* Jesus G5547 Christ, G2532 and G1325 having given G1473 to us G3588 the G1248 service G3588 of the G2643 of reconciliation;

We are a new creation when we are in Christ. This is the first thing that happens to us, we become new. Then we are reconciled to the Elohim through Jesus Messiah, we are downward changed. Then we minister and serve that logos to others to become new and downward changed.

Let’s look at our words for reconciling and reconciliation. We notice the prefix kata here, which we remember means “downward”. The downward act is from heaven to earth. There is motion involved with kata. So immediately this tells us that the word here has a heavenly action, from heaven to earth.

ἀλλάσσω

allassō al-las'-so From G243; to make different KJV Usage: change.

The word katallassō  is a compound word kata, “downward” and  allassō “change”. The idea of allassō here is bartering, trading, and exchanging, but then combined with kata means that it is a trading from heaven to earth, a bartering from heaven to earth, and an exchanging from heaven to earth. In these instances we are speaking of being reconciled from heaven to the Elohim. We see how this understanding combined with the “off-ransom” or “release from ransom” meaning redemption explains what Jesus did for us and is doing for us for the Day of Redemption. Today we are exchanged or reconciled from heaven. Our reconciling is being purchased by Jesus’ blood from heaven to earth. Therefore as verse 17 says, we are a new creation. We are newly changed, exchanged from our old decaying life to our new never-ending life in Messiah Jesus. This is the first step to redemption, reconciliation. We must be reconciled first, made new, and downward changed before we can be redeemed on that special day the Day of Redemption.

καταλλαγή

katallagē kat-al-lag-ay' From G2644; exchange (figuratively adjustment), that is, restoration to (the divine) favor KJV Usage: atonement, reconciliation (-ing).

The verb form of reconciling is katallassō, while katallagē is the noun form for “reconciliation”. It is the restoration or the exchange from one thing to another. We have been restored when we confess Jesus as Lord and believe he rose up on the third day. We have gone through the supernatural process of restoration. We are made new in Christ.

We look different to all the other spiritual sons of God, we look like new beings in Christ. We still live on the earth and we still have the same daily responsibilities, but we are new and downward changed. This then makes us stand out in the spiritual realm. It is not like putting on a coat or a hat, this change is permanent, we cannot take it off. We have been cleaned up, transformed, and brought into the Body of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:19 G5613 how G3754 that G2316 God G1510.7.3 was G1722 in G5547 Christ G2889 [2 the world G2644 1reconciling] G1438 to himself, G3361 not G3049 imputing G1473 to them G3588   G3900 their transgressions, G1473   G2532 and G5087 having put G1722 in G1473 us G3588 the G3056 word G3588 of the G2643 reconciliation.

  20 G5228 For G5547 of Christ G3767 then G4243 we are ambassadors, G5613 as G2316 of God G3870 appealing G1223 through G1473 us; G1189 we beseech G5228 for G5547 Christ -- G2644 be reconciled G3588   G2316 to God!

  21 G3588 For the one G1063   G3361 not G1097 knowing G266 sin, G5228 [3for G1473 4us G266 2a sin offering G4160 1he made], G2443 that G1473 we G1096 should be G1343 righteousness G2316 of God G1722 by G1473 him.

The Elohim did not impute, ascribe, or assign our sins, instead he exchanges us from old to new. Now we have the logos of reconciliation, meaning we can speak this logos and it has power to change people when they come to believe on Jesus Messiah. Our words have weight here because we are ambassadors, we are officials to the government of heaven. We represent the heavenly government when we speak reconciliation because Jesus made a sin offering for us to become righteous.

Sometimes we expect people to apologize to get back into our good graces, but the Elohim did not do that. While we repent for remission of sins, we are not expected to repent to become reconciled. We are downward changed and then we are made ambassadors for the benefit of others, to minister the word of reconciliation. Our message is “be reconciled to the Elohim”. Jesus is our sin offering when we believe on Him and we repent and are saved, we are free from sins. This is why we can walk tall, with our heads up, and in power of the word of reconciliation. We are the ambassadors who call others into the Body of Christ.

Romans 5:9 G4183 Much G3767 more then, G3123   G1344 having been justified G3568 now G1722 in G3588   G129 his blood, G1473   G4982 we shall be delivered G1223 by G1473 him G575 from G3588 the G3709 wrath.

Romans 5:10 G1487 For if G1063   G2190 being enemies, G1510.6   G2644 we were reconciled G3588   G2316 to God G1223 through G3588 the G2288 death G3588   G5207 of his son, G1473   G4183 how much G3123 more G2644 having been reconciled, G4982 shall we be delivered G1722 in G3588   G2222 his life. G1473

We will be delivered from the wrath because we are new creatures. We were exchanged from death to life in the Elohim through Jesus. We are delivered in life today, we are downward changed ready for Redemption Day. This is why it is important for us as ambassadors to tell others, so that they too can be delivered from the wrath.

Romans 5:11 G3756 [2not G3440 3only that G1161 1And], G235 but G2532 also G2744 boasting G1722 in G3588   G2316 God G1223 through G3588   G2962 our Lord G1473   G* Jesus G5547 Christ, G1223 through G3739 whom G3568 now G3588 [2the G2643 3reconciliation G2983 1we received].

  12 G1223 On account of G3778 this G5618 as if G1223 through G1520 one G444 man G3588 the G266 sin G1519 [2into G3588 3the G2889 4world G1525 1entered], G2532 and G1223 through G3588 the G266 sin -- G3588   G2288 death; G2532 and G3779 thus G1519 to G3956 all G444 men G3588   G2288 death G1330 went through, G1909 because G3739 by which reason G3956 all G264 sinned.

  13 G891 For until G1063   G3551 law, G266 sin G1510.7.3 was G1722 in G2889 the world; G266 but sin G1161   G3756 not G1677 charged, G3361 not G1510.6 being G3551 law.

  14 G235 But G936 [2reigned G3588   G2288 1death] G575 from G* Adam G3360 until G* Moses, G2532 reigning even G1909 upon G3588 the ones G3361 not G264 having sinned G1909 in G3588 the G3667 likeness G3588 of the G3847 violation G* of Adam, G3739 who G1510.2.3 is G5179 a model G3588 of the one G3195 being about to come .

Here is the understanding of our downward change. Through the adam, sin entered the world which brought death. Then the law came, but death still reigned, even on those who did not sin. Jesus came and by his blood we have had our ransom paid and are no longer sentenced to death but elevated to life. Our reconciliation to the Elohim comes when we believe on the Messiah.

Paul continues to explain to the Romans. He tells us that the Jews being spiritually blind is for the benefit of the rest of the world. Salvation came to the Jews, out from among the Jews, but they rejected the Elohim’s plan. They wanted something different. They didn’t care about the healings, about the redemption, about people becoming righteous and justified. They instead wanted to rule over their own country, drive away the Romans and all other enemies, and then they would worship the Messiah on His throne. They didn’t want a Messiah who would gather all the nations to himself. They didn’t care about anyone else going to hades, they simply wanted their own land, their own government, their own way of life. However they had one nation that split into two. Then spent over 400 years defiling the temple until both the north and south went into captivity. The bigger picture was for all nations to come to the Messiah with the Him ruling from Israel.

Of course we know that the timing of the Messiah ruling from Israel is at the time of the millennial kingdom. The Jews wanted to skip the number of people coming in and fast forward the timing. That was not going to change, no matter if all of Israel came to believe on Jesus as Messiah. There is a number and there is a specific time, as Ezra and Paul tell us.

Romans 11:13 G1473 [3to you G1063 1For G3004 2I speak], G3588 to the G1484 nations; G1909 upon G3745 as much as G3303 indeed G1510.2.1 I am G1473   G1484 [2of the nations G652 1an apostle], G3588   G1248 [2my service G1473   G1392 1I glorify],

  14 G1513 if by any means G3863 I should provoke to jealousy G1473 the ones of my G3588   G4561 flesh, G2532 and G4982 shall deliver G5100 some G1537 from among G1473 them.

  15 G1487 For if G1063   G3588 the G580 casting off G1473 of them G2643 be for the reconciliation G2889 of the world, G5100 what G3588 will be the G4356 reception of them, G1508 unless G2222 life G1537 from G3498 the dead.

“If for the rejection them, reconciling world which the receiving (into the kingdom of God), if not life from out of dead.”

Paul is saying that it would be nice to provoke the Jews to come to Jesus by making them jealous. The Jews were rejected because they themselves rejected Jesus. Keep in mind that once a Jew believes on Jesus as Messiah then that person is not a Jew but a Christian, a new creation in Messiah. Even though reconciliation changed the world as to who enters life from out of death, the Jews will have a chance to enter the kingdom of God after the nations come in. So in some ways the Jews are cast off for now.

Romans 11:16 G1487 And if G1161   G3588 the G536 first-fruit G39 be holy, G2532 also G3588 the G5445 batch; G2532 and G1487 if G3588 the G4491 root G39 be holy, G2532 also G3588 the G2798 branches.

  17 G1487 But if G1161   G5100 some G3588 of the G2798 branches G1575 were broken off, G1473 and you G1161   G65 being a wild olive tree G1510.6   G1461 were engrafted G1722 in G1473 them, G2532 and G4791 [2fellow-partakers G3588 3of the G4491 4root G2532 5and G3588 6the G4096 7fatness G3588 8of the G1636 9olive tree G1096 1became],

  18 G3361 glory not over G2620   G3588 the G2798 branches! G1487 But if G1161   G2620 you gloried over them, G3756 know that you do not G1473   G3588 [2the G4491 3root G941 1bear], G235 but G3588 the G4491 root bears G1473 you.

We do not celebrate the fact that the Jews are in a blind stupor, because we have only been grafted into the tree. We are not the root, Shem is the root. Even if some of the branches have broken off, we are still not the root.

Let’s think of this another way. Noah had three sons. Shem, started a school to teach people about Yahweh. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, all knew Shem, as Abraham lived with Shem and Noah, and Isaac and Jacob went to Shem’s school. Jacobs sons go into Egypt, get comfortable, and have to be brought out by Moses. Moses tries to give them laws and societal guides to live, but they struggle for many years until they lose their nation, go into captivity, and are allowed back under other rulers. Satanas had a focus to attempt to eliminate the nation of Israel so that no one would know about Yahweh. Therefore Satanas put a target on Israel. We do not know where we are from, but genealogy does not matter. Shem, who is Melchizedek, is the root. He is a king and a priest. Jesus is/will be a king and a priest. The believers in Christ are/will be kings and priests. Regardless whether the heirs of Jacob succeeded or failed in teaching the world, the world was going to find out about Yahweh Jesus Messiah. The root may not have come from our ancestors, but we were grafted in because we believed. Even though the root came from Shem, who is Jacob’s children’s forefather, they may be discarded branches because of their unbelief. However some will enter the millennial kingdom and the twelve disciples will rule over them, judging and educating them.

Romans 11:19 G2046 You will say G3767 then, G1575 [3were broken off G3588 1the G2798 2branches] G2443 that G1473 I G1461 should be engrafted.

  20 G2573 Well, G3588   G570 by unbelief G1575 they were broken off, G1473 and you G1161   G3588 in the G4102 belief G2476 stand. G3361 Be not G5309 high-minded, G235 but G5399 fear.

This is a warning to all of us. There are some denominations that think if there is a priest or minister in a family then the entire family is saved. There is no inherited position in the Body of Christ. Everyone enters in by their own belief, not by a family members belief. And if the natural branches are cut off then the grafted branches can be cut off too. All can be reconciled if they believe on Jesus Messiah.

Romans 11:21 G1487 For if G1063   G3588   G2316 God G3588   G2596 [3according to G5449 4nature G2798 2 the branches G3756 1spared not], G5339   G3381 perhaps G3761 not even G1473 you G5339 he shall spare.

  22 G1492 Behold G3767 then G5544 the graciousness G2532 and G663 severity G2316 of God! G1909 indeed upon G3303   G3588 the ones G4098 having fallen -- G663 severity; G1909 but upon G1161   G1473 you -- G5544 graciousness, G1437 if G1961 you should remain G3588 in the G5544 graciousness; G1893 else G2532 also G1473 you G1581 shall be cut off.

What do you think about the Jewish religious leaders who schemed and plotted against Jesus? Are they any different than the followers of Satanas? It does not matter where they came from, they can be severed from the root. Yet if any of them believes on Jesus as Messiah then they are made a new creation, they are downward changed and they will be engrafted.

Romans 11:23 G2532 [2also G1565 3those G1161 1And] G1437 if G3361 they do not G1961 remain G3588 in the G570 unbelief, G1461 shall be engrafted; G1415 [4able G1063 1for G1510.2.3 3is G3588   G2316 2God] G3825 again G1461 to engraft G1473 them.

A cut off branch can be grafted in again, reconciled.

Romans 11:24 G1487 For if G1063   G1473 you, G1537 [2from G3588   G2596 4according to G5449 5nature G1581 1were cut off G65 3 the wild olive tree], G2532 and G3844 contrary G5449 to nature G1461 were engrafted G1519 into G2565 the fruitful olive tree; G4214 how much G3123 more G3778 these, G3588 the ones G2596 according to G5449 nature, G1461 shall be engrafted into G3588 their G2398 own G1636 olive tree?

Paul makes the case for reconciliation of Jews into their own olive tree if they make the change and believe on Jesus, confessing him as Lord with their mouth and believing he rose up on the third day from the dead. This means that while someone may have grown up in a synagogue and was told Jesus was not the Messiah, that person can change their own mind and come to faith in the Messiah and be reconciled, or downward changed. Here is the best part, they are now counted among the believers and have eternal life and are awaiting the Day of Redemption. So while the Jews are in a state of blindness, the nations are entering into the sheepfold.

Romans 11:25 G3756 For I do not G1063   G2309 want G1473 you G50 to be ignorant, G80 brethren, G3588   G3466 of this mystery, G3778   G2443 that G3361 you should not G1510.3 be G3844 [2in G1438 3yourselves G5429 1intelligent], G3754 that G4457 callousness G575 [2in part G3313   G3588 3 to G* 4Israel G1096 1has happened] G891 until G3739 of which time G3588 the G4138 fullness G3588 of the G1484 nations G1525 should enter in.

The end result is that while the nations are entering into reconciliation, some Jews may be reconciled too, while others are still in a blind stupor. Eventually Yahweh’s mercy will give them an opportunity again and whether they accept or reject it will be up to them.

Colossians 1:18 G2532 And G1473 he G1510.2.3 is G3588 the G2776 head G3588 of the G4983 body G3588 of the G1577 assembly, G3739 who G1510.2.3 is G746 the beginning, G4416 the first-born G1537 from G3588 the G3498 dead, G2443 that G1096 [2should be G1722 4in G3956 5all things G1473 1he G4409 3preeminent].

ἀποκαταλλάσσω

apokatallassō ap-ok-at-al-las'-so From G575 and G2644; to reconcile fully KJV Usage: reconcile.

Jesus is going to do something interesting, he is going to off-reconcile all of us in the Body of Christ. Here we see the word apokatallassō, apo meaning “off or away”, and kata, “downward” and allassō, “change”, literally “off-downward-change”. In Jesus all the full measured approved dwells, and through Jesus he off-reconciled all into himself. Think on this, in Jesus and through Jesus. There is no getting past Jesus for reconciliation. In Jesus all the full measure approved dwells. Through Jesus he off-reconciled all to himself. What is an off-reconciliation? It is like an off-ransom. The “off” or “away” means the reconciled are removed from one place to another, just like the off-ransomed. We, all of the Body, are off-reconciled into Him because he made peace through his blood on the cross. It is the Day of Redemption when we are off-reconciled and off-ransomed.

Colossians 1:21 G2532 And G1473 you G4218 at some time or other G1510.6 being G526 separated G2532 and G2190 enemies G3588   G1271 in thought G1722 by G3588   G2041 [2works G3588   G4190 1wicked], G3568 but now G1161   G604 he reconciled

  22 G1722 in G3588 the G4983 body G3588   G4561 of his flesh G1473   G1223 through G3588   G2288 death, G3936 to present G1473 you G39 holy G2532 and G299 unblemished G2532 and G410 without reproach G2714 before G1473 him;

  23 G1489 if indeed G1961 you remain G3588 in the G4102 belief G2311 being founded G2532 and G1476 settled, G2532 and G3361 not G3334 being moved about G575 from G3588 the G1680 hope G3588 of the G2098 good news G3739 of which G191 you heard, G3588 of the one G2784 being proclaimed G1722 in G3956 all G3588 the G2937 creation, G3588 in the one G5259 under G3588 the G3772 heaven, G3739 of which G1096 [3became G1473 1I G* 2Paul] G1249 servant.

Once we were separated and enemies in our minds by our own wicked works, but now He has off-reconciled us in his own body through his death. His death for our life, if we remain in faith. Off-reconciliation is so that he can present us holy and unblemished without reproach in Him. There will be a time after the Day of Redemption, that Jesus will present us to the Father in heaven. He can do that because we are off-reconciled.

Ephesians 2:14 G1473 For he G1063   G1510.2.3 is G3588   G1515 our peace, G1473   G3588 the one G4160 having made G3588   G297 both G1520 one, G2532 and G3588 [2the G3320 3partition G3588 4of the G5418 5barrier G3089 1having loosed];

  15 G3588 the G2189 enmity G1722 [7by G3588   G4561 8his flesh G1473   G3588 1 of the G3551 2law G3588   G1785 3of commandments G1722 4in G1378 5decrees G2673 6he cleared away], G2443 that G3588 the G1417 two G2936 he should create G1722 in G1438 himself G1519 into G1520 one G2537 new G444 man, G4160 making G1515 peace;

  16 G2532 and G604 should reconcile G3588   G297 both G1722 in G1520 one G4983 body G3588   G2316 to God G1223 through G3588 the G4716 cross, G615 having killed G3588 the G2189 enmity G1722 by G1473 it.

Again we are told that Jesus makes us new and are off-reconciled into one Body, to the Elohim. Jesus took away our separation by his crucifixion so we are reconciled now, and then there will be an off-reconciliation in the future after the harpazo, the Day of Redemption.

1 Corinthians 15:51 G2400 Behold, G3466 [2a mystery G1473 3to you G3004 1I speak]; G3956 [4all G3303 3indeed G3756 2not G2837 1we shall] sleep, G3956 but all G1161   G236 shall be changed,

  52 G1722 in G823 an instant, G1722 in G4493 the blink G3788 of an eye, G1722 at G3588 the G2078 last G4536 trumpet. G4537 For it shall trump, G1063   G2532 and G3588 the G3498 dead G1453 shall be raised G862 incorruptible, G2532 and G1473 we G236 shall be changed.

  53 G1163 For it is necessary G1063   G3588   G5349 this corruption G3778   G1746 to put on G861 incorruptibility, G2532 and G3588   G2349 this mortal G3778   G1746 to put on G110 immortality.

Here we see allassō in Corinthians, describing the change that the dead and living go through at the harpazo. The dead are raised incorruptible and the mortals changed to immortality. This is change on the way to heaven. This is a change that is necessary for all those in the Body of Christ. On the day that Jesus calls from the air the mortals have to put on immortality, they have to change. Then the dead in Christ who have been awaiting this day in Paradise put on incorruption. The dead rise up first and the living join them. This change is takes place in an instant on Redemption Day.

We see the changed in the air on the way to heaven which is necessary for us to enter heaven. For now we have the downward change, while we are on the earth. We will have the off-reconciliation on the day we are called up. The off-downward-change is the taking away from heaven, to earth, up to heaven in reconciliation. We might be reconciled today, but the change to immortality and incorruption still must take place on the way to heaven. Paul explains the subject of reconciliation as an event that takes place now, and an event that takes place at the Day of Redemption. We are new creatures, new people in Christ. We may not see what we look like, but we are changed, spiritually. We are now part of the Body of Christ. This is what we call others to. We are ambassadors, with the word of reconciliation so that others are made new. They then are ambassadors calling for others to be reconciled in Christ. Then on the Day of Redemption, the dead will rise up and change, the living will rise up and change. The off ransom and off reconciliation take place. This will take place when the number of the nations has been fulfilled. Reconciliation in heaven presented before the Father is the destiny of those who believe on Jesus as Lord, confess him with their mouths, and believe he rose up on the third day. Heaven bound.
