New Jerusalem; Eight Thousand Years; Birth of a Nation; Alpha Omega

A new city will come down from heaven. It will be beautiful. This city is for the nation that has endured difficulty and yet stayed faithful. It is for those who overcome.  As Jesus tells us in Isaiah, a nation is not birthed in one day. How long does it take to birth a nation? Jesus announces who he is, the Alpha and Omega, and says that he will give anyone who thirsts living water. We see the martyrs have a special position in the temple of the Father and all tears will be wiped away. We will look at some things the first century church understood, which will broaden our perspective on this eight thousandth year.

When we come to the time of the new Jerusalem, we are in the eight thousandth year. What is the time frame of the creation in the Book of Genesis? The creation was completed in six days and the seventh day was a day of rest. Just as Genesis gives us a pattern for creation, it parallels our time on the earth before the new heaven and the new earth. Today, the Jewish year is 5778; however as we have discussed previously there have been 243 years eliminated from the Bible so as to make it appear as if there were several other people that could have been the Messiah. If we add those 243 years back into the Jewish calendar, then we are roughly in the year 6021 or so. Enoch and Barnabas help us understand our years and ages. 

Enoch 33:1 AND I appointed the eighth day also, that the eighth day should be the first-created after my work, and that the first seven revolve in the form of the seventh thousand, and that at the beginning of the eighth thousand there should be a time of not-counting, endless, with neither years nor months nor weeks nor days nor hours.

When we reach the eight thousandth year, there is no more counting. Today, we count in anticipation of the next age, but once we have come to the new heaven and earth, we are done with counting days, weeks, months, and years. We won’t even count hours. Barnabas is the guy who gives us the parallels according to the old covenant. 

13:1 FURTHERMORE it is written concerning the sabbath, in the Ten  Commandments, which God spake in the Mount Sinai to Moses, face to face; Sanctify the sabbath of the Lord with pure hands, and with a clean heart.
2 And elsewhere he saith; If thy children shall keep my sabbaths, then will I put my mercy upon them.
3 And even in the beginning of the creation he makes mention of the sabbath.  And God made in six days the works of his hands; and he finished them on the seventh day, and he rested the seventh day, and sanctified it.

Barnabas is the type of person that understands deeper meanings in scripture related to symbolism. He is a deep thinker. Barnabas compares our time as a parallel to the creation. He then asks the reader to consider what this signifies. 

Barnabas 13:4 Consider, my children, what that signifies, he finished them in six days. The meaning of it is this; that in six thousand years the Lord God will bring all things to an end.
5 For with him one day is a thousand years; as himself testifieth, saying, Behold this day shall be as a thousand years. Therefore, children, in six days, that is, in six thousand years, shall all things be accomplished.

All things will be accomplished in the sixth day or six thousandth year. We are now in the six thousandth year. In the seven thousandth year we will have a time of rest with Jesus as King over all the kings, and Lord over all the lords. That will be our time of Jesus’ Millennial Kingdom. 

Barnabas 13:6 And what is that he saith, And he rested the seventh day: he meaneth this; that when his Son shall come, and abolish the season of the Wicked One, and judge the ungodly; and shall change the sun and the moon, and the stars; then he shall gloriously rest in that seventh day.

Jesus abolishes the season of the satan and judges the wicked of the earth. Then we see one thousand years of rest until the satan is loosed. After that we see another judgment for all the dead.

Barnabas 13:7 He adds lastly; Thou shalt sanctify it with clean hands and a pure heart. Wherefore we are greatly deceived if we imagine that any one can now sanctify that day which God has made holy, without having a heart pure in all things.
8 Behold therefore he will then truly sanctify it with blessed rest, when we (having received the righteous promise, when iniquity shall be no more, all things being renewed by the Lord) shall be able to sanctify it, being ourselves first made holy.
9 Lastly, he saith unto them: Your new moons and you: sabbaths I cannot bear them. Consider what he means by it; the sabbaths, says he, which ye now keep are not acceptable unto me, but those which I have made; when resting from all things I shall begin the eighth day, that is, the beginning of the other world.
10 For which cause we observe the eighth day with gladness, in which Jesus rose from the dead; and having manifested himself to his disciples, ascended into heaven.

The Lord will renew all things, and one thousand years of rest will start. The righteous will put on incorruption and immortality and become holy. That is how we sanctify the seventh day (or age). 

After the seventh day, the eighth day is the beginning of the other world. We attribute the resurrection and the ascension to the seventh and eighth day. Jesus died accomplishing his time on earth. Not only did he turn the satan’s kingdom upside down while on the earth, he took back the keys to hell and death and set the captives free. This is the sixth day. Jesus then rose from the dead and resided with the disciples as a seventh day rest. He had a new body, ate, drank, walked through walls, and appeared and disappeared. Jesus then ascended into the heavens and is seated at the right had of the Father. This is the eighth day. It is Barnabas’ explanation and comparison. The eight thousandth year is the time of not counting. Yet we know that one day in the heavens is like one thousand years to us.

John sees this new Jerusalem coming down out of heaven. It looks beautiful. It is adorned or decorated or embellished as a bride. A bride looks beautiful on her wedding day. The new Jerusalem is not going to look formless, void, and dark, tōhû bōhû. As we read in Genesis, it took six days to make the earth habitable, with vegetation and animals. Here the new city will already be decorated. In the beginning, the Holy Spirit worked alongside the Lord, preparing the world, Proverbs 8. With the new Jerusalem, it is already done. If we remember the garden of Eden, the adam was brought into the garden; it seems those who are the overcomers are going to be brought into this new city. There will be people who are overcomers who are pillars in the temple of the Father. 

Revelation 3:12 (KJV) 
12  Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. 

The Philadelphia church is promised that those who say they are Jews but instead are from the synagogue of satan, will worship at the the Philadelphians’ feet. Philadelphia is the missionary church, those who have put their lives on the line for the mission of spreading the good news so that others may live. Jesus also tells them that they would not go through the tribulation. He then tells them that they will be pillars in the temple of the Father, they will be high priests; not just any priests but high priests in the Father’s temple. 

Revelation 21:3  And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

The tabernacle of God will dwell or encamp among the people, the laity. Remember how Yahweh visited the adam in the cool of the day? Instead of simply visiting once per day, Yahweh will live among the people.

There will be no more death. There will be no more grief. There will be no more crying. There will be no more anguish. Why? Because the things that came first in place and time have gone away. The six thousandth year is over, the seven thousandth year is over. We are in another age. 

This is the day of the changing of our hearts’. We may have a hard time understanding a world where these things don’t exist, but at this time our hearts will be changed and we will not know death, grief, crying, or anguish.  

Solomon told us that man was created to be immortal. Righteousness and justice are immortal, God did not create death.

Yahweh did not create death, death came to us with the satan. There will be death in the Millennial Kingdom, but people will live longer than they do in this age. Then the New Jerusalem will be a city without death. That means that every form of death has to be weeded out first.

Everything will be made new. These words are genuinely true and trustworthy. Enoch understood it, Barnabas understood it, and the first century church understood it. This is something we should know in our heart because the Holy Spirit resides within us. 

The Holy Spirit makes all things new now. She (see below reference from Wisdom Of Solomon, spirit of Wisdom referred to as “she”) enters into holy souls from all the ages and makes them friends of God and prophets. Today we are made new with the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. Although there is still sorrow and tears today, the Holy Spirit can ease our burdens through this age. 

Wisdom of Solomon 7:24-28 (KJVApocrypha) 
24  For wisdom is more moving than any motion: she passeth and goeth through all things by reason of her pureness. 
25  For she is the breath of the power of God, and a pure influence flowing from the glory of the Almighty: therefore can no defiled thing fall into her.

Remember the phrase “friends of God and prophets”. The only way one can be a friend of God or a prophet is to have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, therefore if one denies Jesus today, that one does not have the Holy Spirit and that one is not a friend of God or a prophet. The person who denies Jesus in this age, the age we live in today, does not have the Holy Spirit residing within, and cannot be a prophet. The only atonement for sin is Jesus, as there is no temple to make sacrifices for atonement. Therefore, a person whose sin has not been atoned for is not a friend of God nor a prophet, because that one is unholy. The unholy individual may not be spared in the second death. This new Jerusalem is not for the unholy, whose works are not enough to survive the second death. If someone wants eternal life, a life with no death, or sorrow, or grief, then confessing Jesus as Lord today will ensure that one will have life everlasting.

The one sitting on the throne says ‘it is birthed’. The new age is birthed in the eight thousandth year. The next phrase may seem strange to us, but to every Jewish person, they would have understood these letters. They may have regarded them as treasonous as the Jews did not believe Jesus as the Messiah. Yet Jesus tells us he is the A and the Z, the Alpha and Omega, or the Aleph and the Tav. In the Paleo Hebrew, the Aleph Tav denote a strong man and a cross. It is used over 11,000 times, throughout the old covenant and is the Hebrew Strong’s number 853. It is the Greek Strong’s number 3588. While we do not have time to go into detail with this study, the short answer is that Jesus declared himself to be the marker that exists in the text of the Bible which is usually untranslated in English or randomly translated as “the”. 


Jesus declares that he is the one Isaiah is talking about. 

Isaiah 41:4 (AMP) 
4  Who has prepared and done this, calling forth and guiding the destinies of the generations [of the nations] from the beginning? I, the Lord—the first [existing before history began] and with the last [an ever-present, unchanging God]—I am He. 

Jesus is the one from the beginning, and is Israel’s redeemer.

Jesus says he is the Lord of Hosts, Lord of the angel armies. 

Isaiah 48:12 (AMP)

Jesus then tells us this as John wrote to us in the beginning of Revelation. This was to be written and sent to the seven churches.

To the church at Smyrna he has John write that He was dead and is alive. 

Revelation 2:8 (AMP)

This is to a church where, like Philadelphia, there were people who called themselves Jews, but were not Jews, but were in fact from the synagogue of satan. The people in the church were being imprisoned and martyred. They were not going to be hurt in the second death. So Jesus is reminding them that he was dead and is now alive, and if they would be faithful even in death they may die but they would live. 

One last time, Jesus reminds us who he is. He is the fulfillment of the Aleph Tav, 11,000 times scribed in the old covenant. The strong man on the cross. He is the marker. He is the first, before all, and the last, the end of all. 

Revelation 22:13 (AMP) 
13  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last (the Before all and the End of all). 

If we only read one half of this book we will not understand how Jesus can call himself the Alpha and Omega. This book however is one book. If we disregard half of it, we will not understand the other half. The Holy Spirit moved holy men, the friends of God and the prophets, to write this book. This is why we have to reference other usages of these subjects. The end explains the beginning, and the beginning explains the end, just like a good mystery novel.

The idea of thirsting here is really desiring earnestly or eagerly longing for. We all thirst for Jesus. What Jesus gives is living water. There is such a thing as dead water; I would point you to Masaru Emoto’s water crystal studies. This water has life, zōē, and it is a gift. Who is the fountain of living waters?

Jeremiah 2:13 (AMP) 
13  For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the Fountain of living waters, and they have hewn for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns which cannot hold water. 

Yahweh, Jesus. Those who depart from Yahweh will be erased. 

Jeremiah 17:13 (AMP)

When Jesus was in Samaria speaking with the woman at the well, he tells her that he would have given her living water. Whoever drinks of his water will never thirst again. 

John 4:10-14 (AMP) 
10  Jesus answered her, If you had only known and had recognized God's gift and Who this is that is saying to you, Give Me a drink, you would have asked Him [instead] and He would have given you living water.

Jesus’ water will quench all thirst. Jesus’ water will spring up within the one who drinks for eternal life. 

This is a little different as we read about Moses and Aaron. They are praying for the people to receive living water. This prayer is immensely important, but has been deleted from the Masoretic Text and consequently from many translations. Here are two translations that include this prayer, Douay Rheims, and Wycliffe. 

Numbers 20:6 (DRV) 
6  And Moses and Aaron leaving the multitude, went into the tabernacle of the covenant, and fell flat upon the ground, and cried to the Lord, and said: O Lord God, hear the cry of this people, and open to them thy treasure, a fountain of living water, that being satisfied, they may cease to murmur. And the glory of the Lord appeared over them. 

All other translations make it seem as if Moses and Aaron simply go into the tabernacle and magically the glory of the Lord appears. No, they prayed first; ‘open a treasure, a fountain of living water’

Open a well of fresh water. The people were thirsty. The glory of the Lord appeared above Moses and Aaron when they were asking for water. It may be that they were not only praying for water, but living water, spiritual water, so they will see Him and not grumble and complain. If the people truly trusted in Him they would not be upset, they would patiently wait for water without asking. 

In our day it is similar to going to the emergency room and waiting patiently  for medical help. As people wait for a doctor to see them, emotionally, they get more and more anxious. That is probably the way Israel felt being in a desert. Moses and Aaron prayed for regular water, but really living water to open their spiritual eyes to see Yahweh. If we remember the rest of the story, Moses got crabby with the people, and hit the rock twice. Moses was then told that he would not lead them into the promised land. Moses got annoyed with these people who wished they were back in Egypt, but Yahweh understood their fear and their needs. 

Revelation 21:7  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

The overcomer becomes an heir. A child who will become an heir is birthed over the course of nine months, from conception to delivery. Then the child who will become an heir has to learn and grow. It takes time to birth a nation as the Lord says in Isaiah. 

Isaiah 66:6 A voice of a cry from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the Lord rendering recompence to his adversaries. 7 Before she that travailed brought forth, before the travail-pain came on, she escaped it and brought forth a male. 8 Who has heard such a thing? and who has seen after this manner? Zion is bringing forth children, the Lord is bringing forth children. The Lord has been waiting to birth this nation, but they, the people, forgot about him. Overcoming is a process, it is not something we do once and then we are finished. It is something we do over and over until we die. That is how a nation is birthed, that is how a child is born. 


The overcoming takes place in the six thousand years before the year of rest. Then again it takes place during the seven thousandth year of rest. Once all the overcomers have been birthed, a new age emerges, the eight thousandth year.  This is a true and trustworthy saying, it is something we can count on, just as Yahweh brought forth a nation out of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob’s loins. Jesus/Yahweh is the beginning and the ending, and just as he came to earth, died, rose, and ascended, he will gather all overcomers to himself, and join them in the adorned new Jerusalem.
