Rahab & God’s Circled Picture in the Heavens

Prov 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.KJV

Sometimes there are portions of the Bible that when talked about our eyes tend to glaze over.  At times it is like a stupor coming over us where we cannot comprehend the conversation.  One of those subjects is the planet Rahab.  No one has ever taught this at any churches I attend, but it is clearly in the Bible.  If we bury this subject, we can be easily deceived by some who have a monetary interest in keeping us blind.  The reason there are people spending money on attacking God is because the devil has made certain individuals wealthy in order for “people” to do the work of the kingdom of hell. That sounds harsh but there are those who have intentionally and willingly kept the truth from the population.  By doing so, more people can be tricked into not accepting Jesus as Lord  A recent news story about an atheist group putting up billboards that read “God is your imaginary friend, choose reality, it will be better for all of us” made me smirk.  First of all I hope most intelligent people do not get their life lessons from billboards.  Secondly I thought they are at least helping the economy, spending large amounts of money on nonsense.  Thirdly I realized it is another brazen push by the devil to lead people away from Jesus. But one has to wonder who has that kind of money to throw around? The devil.  Remember he told Jesus that the kingdoms of this world were his? He’s been allowed to rule here after stealing the lease from Adam but his time is almost up.  So where did the devil come from? Where did he live before the Earth became without form and void and dark? Lucifer messed up his first habitation, and he wants to mess this one up too.  But God also drew us a picture, and circled it, to tell us of our story and of the future.

I’m starting out with some definitions of Rahab so that we can keep these in mind as we study.

RAHAB-HEM-SHEBETH [RAY hab hem SHIH beth] (Rahab sits idle) - a name given by the prophet Isaiah to Egypt (Isa 30:7), comparing that nation to RAHAB THE DRAGON, a mythological sea monster or primeval dragon of chaos. The context of this passage is that Israel had sought to establish a political and military alliance with Egypt under the threat of Assyrian aggression. The prophet Isaiah warned that such an alliance was worthless. Trust in God alone, warned Isaiah; Egypt cannot save others, for she cannot even save herself.
RAHAB THE DRAGON [RAY hab] (agitated) - a mythological sea monster or dragon representing the evil forces of chaos that God subdued by His creative power. The name Rahab as it occurs in Job 9:13 (NIV), Job 26:12 (NIV), Ps 87:4 and 89:10; 30:7 (NIV), and Isa 51:9 has no connection with the personal name of Rahab, the harlot of Jericho, in Josh 2:1-21. The reference to Rahab in the books of Job, Psalms, and Isaiah speak of an evil power overcome by God.
God's smiting of Rahab is described in Job 26:12 (NIV) to signify God's power over the chaos of primeval waters at the Creation. The NKJV translates as the storm for Rahab.
Because the Rahab-dragon imagery was used in describing the deliverance from Egypt, the name Rahab also became a synonym for Egypt itself (Ps 87:4; Isa 30:7; RAHAB-HEM-SHEBETH, NKJV). In its widest sense, the dragon can represent any force that opposes God's will. It is a fitting symbol for Satan (Rev 20:2).(from Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary, Copyright © 1986, Thomas Nelson Publishers)

RAHAB 2. A mythical monster of the deep. In such passages as Job 9:13 and Psalm 89:10 the motif of the slaying of the dragon appears. In Isaiah 51:9 Jehovah’s victory is complete because he has cut Rahab, the monster, to ribbons. This poetic symbolism has much in common with the Ras Shamra literature, and may be the prototype of legends like St. George and the Dragon. The Rahab Yashab (the “Rahab that sits still”) of Isaiah 30:7 portrays the impotency of the monster of Egypt (symbolized by the crocodile) in the day of invasion.  (from Zondervans Pictorial Bible Dictionary, Copyright 1967, Zondervan)

Rahab OT:7293 rahab (rah'-hab); from OT:7292, bluster (-er):KJV - proud, strength.
Rahab OT:7294 Rahab (rah'-hab); the same as OT:7293; Rahab (i.e. boaster), an epithet of Egypt:KJV - Rahab. (Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

Rahab is noted as proud, as a monster, and as Egypt.  But Rahab was also a place as we shall see.

Isa 51:9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon? KJV

Isa 51:9 Wake up, wake up, flex your muscles, God! Wake up as in the old days, in the long ago. Didn't you once make mincemeat of Rahab, dispatch the old chaos-dragon? (from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language © 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. All rights reserved.)

Isa 51:9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Jehovah, Awake, as [in] days of old, generations of the ages, Art not Thou it that is hewing down Rahab, Piercing a dragon! YLT

Scientists have long speculated about the planet that was destroyed in our asteroid belt, between Mars and Jupiter.  Many conclude that this was one of the dwellings of Lucifer called Rahab.  If Rahab was smashed into pieces as the bible will shortly explain, then we should see evidence in the heavens. All the planets from that point between Mars and Jupiter have pockmarks (craters) on them from asteroids hitting them. Scientists have told us there was water and plant life on Mars, at the very least but when Rahab was obliterated it destroyed Mars’ atmosphere and threw it into a different elliptical orbit where up until 701 BC mars would come very close to Earth. See the book “The Mars Earth Wars”, in end notes. It is probable that with the destruction of Rahab came Astra, the large fragment that hit Mars moving it out of a regular orbit and into a different orbit coming close to the Earth.  This is why we have so many legends about the planet Mars.  Asteroids from Rahab hit the waters of Earth and caused catastrophic tsunamis, somewhere between 11,000 BC and 10,950 BC. Is this what Plato meant when he talked about Atlantis being flooded? We know the timing of Atlantis’ destruction but we have never been sure of how it happened.  Also we know of many ancient civilizations that existed during that period of time that are still under water as we have previously seen.

It was not, as the Sumerian texts record, another planet that is now on a different elliptical orbit, called Nibiru. There are inherent problems with the summation of Rahab being Nibiru. For one, the timing of Nibiru, prior to 450,000 years ago.  More likely Rahab was destroyed at or about 11,000 BC or 13,000 years ago coinciding with our last ice age and deluge, and Adam being created after that 6,000 years ago. Again if we keep our timing of history straight we see that there is a disaster that took place on Earth around 13,000 years ago.

The dragon OT:8577 tanniyn (tan-neen'); or tanniym (Ezek 29:3) (tan-neem'); intensive from the same as OT:8565; a marine or land monster, i.e. sea-serpent or jackal: KJV - dragon, sea-monster, serpent, whale.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. The dragon OT:8565 tan (tan); from an unused root probably meaning to elongate; a monster (as preternaturally formed), i.e. a sea-serpent (or other huge marine animal); also a jackal (or other hideous land animal):KJV - dragon, whale. Compare OT:8577.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. This was something that was veiled from sight a long time ago; so long ago it is out of mind.  God hid this knowledge, but not completely. It takes effort to search out a matter. God did two things here, he cut down or made mincemeat of Rahab, and he wounded or pierced the dragon.  We see evidence of a planet that broke up and now forms some of the asteroid belt, but also we have a record that was written in the stars. We have to ask ourselves where principalities, powers, and rulers of the darkness of this world came from.  We know from our studies of Jubliees that demons came from the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim.  We know that demons are different than these other beings as they wander in dry places, seeking a home and when they find one that’s been cleaned and swept etc. But we don’t see that character set in principalities, powers and the rulers of the darkness of this world. If there were several inhabitable planets, such as Earth, Mars, and Rahab, we would have different beings from different places that ended up displaced.  Some of these beings, which may be the sons of God, or the angelic class, that existed before humans, may be on a redemption program.  What I mean is we are to judge angels as Paul tells us, but judge them for what? Are they not all ministering spirits set to minister to us? We know from Enoch that there were a group of beings that decided instead of simply teaching man good things they taught them about drugs (herbs) and war.  Then there are some that took women from earth and had offspring with them.  We see their punishment and God’s rebuke to them that they should have been interceding for man, rather than asking Enoch to intercede for them.  Their offspring are known as the Nephilim. They inhabited the earth before the flood.  Now let’s look at Psalm 87, where Rahab is mentioned.

Ps 87:4 I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there.KJV

Rahab is regarded as a place along with Babylon, Philistia, Tyre, and Ethiopia, but it seems like it is mentioned among places that are troublesome for God’s people.  Isaiah tells us satan is called the king of Babylon, and Ezekiel says satan is the king of Tyre.  Goliath and some of the remnants of the Giants were from Philistia. Ethiopia was descended from Cush or the Hamites, and was ruled by Egypt at this period in time. They were known to be very tall and very fast runners.  Rahab here is mentioned along with the other nations that were a thorn in the side of Israel, is it possible that the descendants of Rahab have infiltrated these areas as ruling spirits over those nations?

Ps 89:9-10 Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.10 Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.KJV

Looking at God’s choice of words, he would break something into pieces; it, by nature, would have to be made of something that could break, like china, glass, or a rock.   It could not be broken in pieces if it were a spirit or flesh.  Not to be graphic, but flesh has to be cut not broken to makes pieces form it. We see that God rules the prideful, or those lifted up in pride, and breaks Rahab into pieces.  Rahab must have been something that could be broken but where a strong pride existed. God also says He scattered His enemies.  If something were broken in pieces, and his enemies also existed in that place, then we would have to assume it was a planet.  He scattered his enemies, when Rahab was broken into pieces.  Where did they go? They went somewhere, but probably somewhere inhabitable, like Earth.

The raging of OT:1348ge'uwth (gay-ooth'); from OT:1342; the same as OT:1346: KJV - excellent things, lifting up, majesty, pride, proudly, raging. (Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)
Hast broken in pieces OT:1792 daka' (daw-kaw'); a primitive root (compare OT:1794); to crumble; transitively, to bruise (literally or figuratively):KJV - beat to pieces, break (in pieces), bruise, contrite, crush, destroy, humble, oppress, smite.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)
As one that is slain OT:2491 chalal (khaw-lawl'); from OT:2490; pierced (especially to death); figuratively, polluted: KJV - kill, profane, slain (man),  slew, (deadly) wounded.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)
Thou hast scattered OT:6340 pazar (paw-zar'); a primitive root; to scatter, whether in enmity or bounty:KJV - disperse, scatter (abroad).(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)
Thine enemies OT:341 'oyeb (o-yabe'); or (fully) 'owyeb (o-yabe'); active participle of OT:340; hating; an adversary:KJV - enemy, foe.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

Next we see the word Rahab used to refer to the proud, isn’t that what Lucifer was, proud? Didn’t he think he could dethrone God? Rahab becomes synonymous for a type of proud that is different than being happy your child did well at school.  This is a “proud” that would suggest such intensity that the being becomes fully deceived.  If you think of cult groups that led people to suicide, you could say that the leader was proud, and fully deceived.  Proud because he or she convinced himself that he is something he is not, and deceived as he takes action to that end.  It is a false premise that someone builds their life around. Isn’t that what we see in Lucifer? Lucifer wasn’t “proud” because his son won the spelling bee, he was fully deceived into believing he was something he is not. It probably acted like a mutant virus that infected everybody on at least that planet.  Lucifer was interplanetary, he moved among the planets, so we cannot be sure how far his mutiny reached.

Job 26:10-14 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud (Rahab).13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand? KJV

Day and night come to an end in Rev 22.  The pillars of heaven tremble and are surprised at His rebuke?   He divides the sea, and smiteth Rahab? Lucifer was proud, and his planet and his people were proud as well.  They seem to think they could separate themselves from their creator.  Fully infected, fully deceived.  Maybe they thought the “anti-christ” along with the beast and the false prophet could rule their world, but wait, that’s our future.  Is it possible something similar happened on the planet Lucifer ruled, and it was destroyed? We will be taking a look again at Lucifer and where he was and what he was doing very soon.

Smitheth OT:4272 machats (maw-khats'); a primitive root; to dash asunder; by implication, to crush, smash or violently plunge; figuratively, to subdue or destroy:KJV - dip, pierce (through), smite (through), strike through, wound.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)
The Proud, Rahab #7293
Crooked OT:1281 bariyach (baw-ree'-akh); or (shortened) bariach (baw-ree'-akh); from OT:1272; a fugitive, i.e. the serpent (as fleeing), and the constellation by that name: KJV - crooked, noble, piercing.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)
Serpent OT:5175 nachash (naw-khawsh'); from OT:5172; a snake (from its hiss):KJV - serpent.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

Job 26:11-13 The pillars of heaven tremble And are astonished at his rebuke.12 He stirreth up the sea with his power, And by his understanding he smiteth through Rahab.13 By his Spirit the heavens are garnished; His hand hath pierced the swift serpent.ASV

We see Rahab as mentioned as a place that was destroyed.  We see it used along with the dragon, the serpent, or satan.  It would seem that Rahab was a proud place that was ruled by Lucifer.  But at some point God smashed it to pieces and somehow, in that, the earth became empty and lie in waste in darkness.  Isaiah says Lucifer made the earth a wilderness, like Jeremiah saw, the fields and orchards became a desert, and the cities were ruined, and there were no more men. So we can see how far reaching Lucifer’s rebellion actually was. And whoever was ensnared along with him did not get set free, they became the prisoners of satan.

Isa 14:16-17 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners? KJV

God drew you a picture and then circled it.

In order to get our attention God gave us clues to our story in the heavens, he pointed us to it. This is one text that cannot be adulterated or burned, or hidden in some archive somewhere.  The devil can’t even hide this information; all he can do is distract us from looking at it.  The Magi knew it, having been trained by Daniel; they saw Jesus in the stars and followed His star to Jerusalem to find Him.  God set up a picture and made a circle around it to draw our attention to it.

Prov 8:27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: KJV

Compass OT:2329 chuwg (khoog); from OT:2328; a circle:KJV - circle, circuit, compass.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

Prov 8:27 In His preparing the heavens I [am] there, In His decreeing a circle on the face of the deep, YLT

On the face of the deep; not the back end, not the foot, not the elbow, but on the face, the very first part we should notice. If I had a picture of you and put a circle around your face, it would be hard not to notice your face.  An individual would have to try very hard not to see your face.  But if from the time of an individuals’ birth, one was taught to look at peoples’ legs, not to look at faces, but legs instead; or if an individual saw smoke and cloud around the face area, that they would look at the legs because the legs looked clearer, one could be “trained” not to look at the face. If trained long enough, generation after generation would look at each other’s legs instead of faces. It is time now to look at the face instead of the legs, of the heavens.

Job 22:14 Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.KJV

God’s throne is  somewhere in the circuit of the heavens, that is where he walks around, that is where he sits.  This is where he dwells.

Isa 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: KJV

There is a circle in the heavens where our story is told.  When Rahab was cast down, and God said light be, he organized the stars to tell us this story.  We have to remember that constellations are not on an even plain, some are hundreds of thousands of miles away from each other.  But God called out to illumine certain ones.  Stars have color, we cannot see it well from our atmosphere but if you can get away from the man made lights you can see some stars shine red, blue, white and green.  God then told the stories of the constellations to Adam, Seth, Enoch, Noah, Shem, and Abraham.  Abraham as we previously saw, brought the knowledge of Astronomy to Egypt, but Chaldea already had this knowledge, hence the tower of Babel.  Having this knowledge does not guarantee that we follow Jesus Christ, it simply sheds light on who is humble and who is proud.

The earth has a 26,000 year precessional cycle, because the Earth tilts at 23 degrees, the north axis is creating a “circle” around a set of constellations that are not directly a circle around Polaris, the north star.  So the circle made is slightly off center intersecting six constellations.  They tell us the story of the Jesus the redeemer, Jesus the King, the devil, the church, the Holy Spirit and praise.

This precession is a backward spin, like a gyroscope, and it makes a circle. All the constellations tell us of Jesus, not Buddha, not Cali, not some prophet, but Jesus.  As they tell this story the Jews were looking for a coming king, but Jesus came as a redeemer first.  Now the Jews look for a redeemer but Jesus is coming as King.  In the center of this circle is the dragon, Hercules has his foot on the dragon’s head.  As we remember our first prophecy of Jesus that he would bruise the serpents head, and the serpent would bruise Jesus’ heal.  That was the constellation pattern the stars were in at 9,000 BC, just after an ice age and deluge.

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. KJV

At this time of 2,000 AD, we are in the constellation pattern of Ursa Minor, or as EW Bullinger points out the sheep fold, or sheep gate.  We are moving into Cepheus the King.  What does this mean?  We will explore more of this next week, but what it does mean is that we are close to the time of the coming king.  The Chinese New Year brings us into the year of the Dragon, this may be an interesting parallel to our times.

Comet Elenin made its appearance this fall.  You might remember all the talk about it, it actually passed through the crown of Virgo, a very big prophetic marker of the coming of Jesus.  The reason this comet was such a big deal is that we cannot quite predict if one will hit earth.  If a comet gets closer than our moon (which Elenin did) it could easily hit earth without more than a day’s warning.  Scientists can track comets and asteroids but cannot do anything about one hitting earth.  Each day I watched as astronomers tracked Elenin, and recalculated its distance.  But scientists are still learning about them.  I’m including a short video on the comet “Lovejoy”, which did something unexpected.  I thought it was interesting, and shows how little we really do know about space.

Because there is so much to learn on this subject of Rahab and the Circle in the Heavens, I am including a lot of resources.  The best by far is from Dr. Dale Sides, I’m including an MP3 of The Planet Rahab, but would encourage you to go to his website and order “The Greatest Story Never Told”, about the circle in the heavens.

We have to explore a bit more about what these constellations are saying to us.

The Heavens Were Of Old & Not Created in Vain

How we read the Bible should be different than the way we read a fictional novel.  If we read a romance novel, for example, it is not important if we miss a few words or sentences.  It doesn’t matter if we do not understand a word. And really, if we are distracted reading our romance novel, it will not make much of a difference in the grand scheme of our life.  However if we read our Bible’s in that manner, it will make a difference in the grand scheme of life.  Take for example someone who promotes the idea of no hell.  If we do not read for study, memorization, content, and detail we could be fooled into thinking someone speaking about there not being a hell could be right.  That does make a difference to your personal eternal life.  When we read the Bible we should read every word.  Some scholars believe that Moses was given the Torah one letter at a time.  That is the way we should read the Bible.  Each word, each letter, and each combination of words are very important, and we have to analyze it fully to understand it. If we do not, we will allow ourselves to be as dumb sheep, and anyone with a smile on their face can lie to us  and we will believe a lie.  The devil has every intention of keeping people ignorant, but we are told that we are not ignorant of his devices, therefore as we continue our study of the beginning, we should keep in mind that it has been the devil’s plan all along to confuse us so that we would not see the damage he has caused.  We live a much shorter life because of destruction and decay on the earth than God ever intended us to.  Living a shorter life means that humanity has a shorter time to receive salvation.  It is time to dig deep into the word of God as if our very lives depended on it.

God’s word tells us the Earth was old and that he did not create the earth formless and void. Many people assume that this verse in 2nd Peter is about Noah, but there are some very big differences between Noah and this verse.  We seem to overlook that there was water and a lot of it in Genesis 1:2.  By definition it was a surging mass of many waters. It may be because we read the words in Genesis and don’t put them into practical sense in our minds. Something we should remember is that the Earth became formless, void and dark on the faces of the deep waters or abyss, therefore there was a problem with land and water in Genesis 1:2. Peter tells us more.

2 Peter 3:5-7 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.KJV

·         Firstly the heavens were of old, which means they were not young or made new. The heavens were around a long time to make them old.  Remember that it was the Earth that was formless, void and dark, but the heavens were still intact.
·         Secondly Peter says some of the Earth was not affected by the water because there was land standing out of the water. Noah’s flood covered the whole earth. There was not any land standing out of the water during the flood.
·         Thirdly the world perished, but the world did not perish in the flood, it did not need to be recreated after the waters receded. God did not speak into being plants and animals. One of the first things Noah did was plant a vineyard. Once the water level dropped, everything came back, the same way we see on a smaller scale today, when there is a flood. When the water receded the grass, trees and flowers came back to life.  The Earth was not destroyed in Noah’s flood but it was in the beginning. Humans perished in Noah’s flood, not the world.  If we remember Jeremiah said there was no men, but the cities were destroyed when he saw the earth formless, void and dark.
·         Fourthly we also saw from Jeremiah that the Lord said in the future, the Earth would become desolate but he would not make and end of it, meaning that disasters and wars may come but it would not be destroyed again until the time of the new heavens and Earth. In Noah’s flood the Earth was not made an end to lie in waste or perish.
·         Fifthly we see that the world and its occupants perished, but Noah and his family did not perish, therefore all the world and its occupants did not perish in Noah’s flood. God specifically states repeatedly that the flood was to destroy flesh not Earth or heaven; not the world.
·         Sixthly if Peter intended to reference Noah’s flood he would have said Noah’s flood.  Peter references Noah on two other occasions, once speaking about the time of God’s patience during the building of the ark and once about how God did not spare the ungodly inhabitants of the world.
·         Lastly there was plenty of water along with the Earth lying in waste and empty and dark in Genesis 1:2.

The Message reads this way:
2 Peter 3:5-7 They conveniently forget that long ago all the galaxies and this very planet were brought into existence out of watery chaos by God's word. 6 Then God's word brought the chaos back in a flood that destroyed the world. 7 The current galaxies and earth are fuel for the final fire. God is poised, ready to speak his word again, ready to give the signal for the judgment and destruction of the desecrating skeptics. (from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language © 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. All rights reserved.)

What exactly is Peter trying to tell us? The context of the conversation is there will be scoffers that are mocking the promise of God’s coming. They will say that everything is the same since everything was created.  However everything is not the same since the heavens and the Earth were created. Peter is trying to put into their remembrance that once the world was destroyed and God had to put it right but that God is ready to speak final judgment and destruction, to the chagrin of the skeptics. All Peter is trying to do is remind people of Genesis 1:2. Now I realize that there weren’t Bibles in every corner store in Jerusalem.  People would have had to have been faithful in attending temple and the religious instructions of their day to know the Torah.  But that is the audience he is speaking to.  Peter was speaking to the select resident foreigners & the converted Israelite residents in Gentile countries as stated in 1 Peter 1:1.  They should have known their history better as Peter is trying to point out. So even with these converted Israelites (converted to the new way) who were living in Gentile nations, they should not get slack in their thinking, but that God will return soon.

In the future as we saw in Revelation, there will be a new heaven and new Earth. But just in case we think it will all be wonderful, Revelation says there are walls and gates and there will be undesirables outside. Peter goes on to say how the earth will be destroyed.

2 Peter 3:10-13 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.KJV

Peter compares the time of the new heaven and Earth to the recreated time of Genesis 1:2. As it was destroyed back then it will be destroyed in the future. And he is also trying to motivate people to holiness.  He is trying to get people to understand the Earth will burn, so live as if today you will meet God.  Truly we don’t know when we will stand before God, we could have a freak accidental death or he could return any time, as soon as the number of Gentiles is fulfilled, we simply don’t know, but we should not be lulled into sleep or a false sense of security.

Another verse to examine is in Isaiah were Yahweh/Jehovah Himself attests to the fact that he did not create the world void.

Isa 45:18 For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.KJV

Here in Isaiah Yahweh/Jehovah says that he created the heavens and Elohim molded the Earth and he did not create it to lie in waste or to be a worthless thing (tohuw), instead he molded it to abide or remain.  Let’s break this down in the Hebrew.

For OT:3588 kiy (kee); a primitive particle [the full form of the prepositional prefix] indicating causal relations of all kinds, antecedent or consequent; (by implication) very widely used as a relative conjunction or adverb [as below]; often largely modified by other particles annexed:KJV - and,  (forasmuch, inasmuch, where-) as, assured [-ly],  but, certainly, doubtless,  else, even,  except, for, how, (because, in, so, than) that,  nevertheless, now, rightly, seeing, since, surely, then, therefore,  (although,  till, truly,  until, when, whether, while, whom, yea, yet.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. What we see from Isaiah is that the Lord did not create the earth to lie in waste, therefore for someone to say that the Lord created the earth a waste, would be in direct contradiction to Jehovah’s words. In the context Jehovah is testifying to Himself and how He speaks plainly and openly.  God tells us many times how he made the Earth, and tells us about the heavens and the Earth. He created the Earth to be inhabited, not to be a waste, it would be a shame to assume God just created a big pile of waste for no reason, he created it to be inhabited, then it became waste and ruined and dark.

Isa 45:7-8 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the Lord have created it.KJV

Here God tells us he formed the light and created darkness. This is in his speaking to Cyrus, the King of Persia who defeated the Babylonians, and allowed Nehemiah and Ezra to rebuild Jerusalem thereby liberating the Jews. Cyrus was God’s anointed and appointed for the time.  Using a Gentile King to achieve his purpose, God is now revealing His ways to Cyrus. God continues:

Isa 45:11-12 Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.KJV

God is saying to ask Him about His sons and the things He created. Actually he is saying to us ask Him forcefully to tell us about things to come. God’s sons are the angelic class, the beings that were before man. Obviously the heavens have a host, or beings as Isaiah says “all their host” he commanded. Some of them came down to Earth and had children with the women of Earth. Here is an earth shattering revelation, there were giants, and then there were also the mighty men. I think I have always assumed the giants were the offspring of the sons of God, but that is not exactly what this says.  Let’s look at these sons first.

Gen 6:2-4 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.KJV

In Genesis & Job the sons of God are the angelic class, while in the New Testament we are called the sons of God.  God is willing to enlighten us about his sons but when was the last time anyone asked him to teach us.  In the future, when Jesus reigns from mount Zion, Isaiah tells us about the destruction of the world. He says the Earth will wobble like a drunkard, and then Jesus will punish the host of the high ones that are on high.  Who are they? His sons. They along with the kings of Earth will try and hide from God’s punishment but they cannot.

Isa 24:17 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.18 And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

Whoever tries to escape this impending doom, will not be able to escape at all, they instead will fall into the pit. The foundations of the Earth will be shaking because something is going to happen when the windows from on high are open. Is it a hurricane, or an asteroid hitting Earth, or is it something else?

Isaiah 24:19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

It seems like the Earth could be moved out of its orbit.  The word cottage is poorly translated, more so a hammock, think of how a hammock blows around.  And the Earth shall become a burden and because of its revolt it will not abide again.  What kind of revolt happens in the world? The people of the world have denied their creator because they have been led astray by the devil and his followers.

Isaiah 24:21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

The host of OT:6635 tsaba' (tsaw-baw'); or (feminine) tseba'ah (tseb-aw-aw'); from OT:6633; a mass of persons (or figuratively, things), especially reg. organized for war (an army); by implication, a campaign, literally or figuratively (specifically, hardship, worship): KJV - appointed time, (+)army, (+)battle, company, host, service, soldiers, waiting upon, war (-fare).(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)
The host of OT:6633tsaba' (tsaw-baw'); a primitive root; to mass (an army or servants): KJV - assemble, fight, perform, muster, wait upon, war.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)
High ones OT:4791 marowm (maw-rome'); from OT:7311; altitude, i.e. concretely (an elevated place), abstractly (elevation, figuratively (elation), or adverbially (aloft): KJV - (far) above, dignity, haughty, height, (most, on) high (one, place), loftily, upward.(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)
On high # 4791 as above

We see that there will be an army from a high place that will be punished in a prison along with the kings of the Earth.  We have to ask the question are the hosts of high ones somehow influencing the kings of the Earth so that they are both punished in the same pit?  I think we know the answer.

Isaiah 24:22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.KJV

Again this will be when Jesus reigns in mount Zion, and he will reign before his ancient people in glory. It would seem that this is a great place to be, under the rulership of our Lord. Somehow some of the sons of God rebelled and caused chaos before Adam was created but they haven’t yet been punished.  When they are punished they will be put in a pit along with the kings of the Earth.

Where did these sons of God reside before the Earth became formless, empty and dark?  They must have lived somewhere high or were from somewhere elevated from Earth.  The Bible tells us of a place that God destroyed.  The beings were lifted up with pride and they made a ruin of the place they lived because they were fully deceived.  The heavens survived, but the planets all suffered. This will be our next study.

Exploration of Jeremiah’s Vision of Creation

Truth is relative to an individual’s maturity level. While God is the Truth, his children are all in a process of learning and growing in Him. Some of God’s children are breastfed while some are milk drinkers, and others have graduated to meat.  We are all in a different level of learning so to one person truth may be at the milk level while to another person truth is at a meat level.  With that understanding in mind it takes a willingness to love people where they are in this process.  Some people can be quite intolerant but that is not how we are to walk in love.  God is calling his people and we are all in a process of learning about Him, therefore we should endeavor, personally, to study, as the word tells us, to show ourselves approved of God as workmen, needing not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  We all are required to push ourselves to learn, rather than be spoon fed.

As we explore other scriptures relating to our creation story, we find a section in Jeremiah that is quite interesting.  In the context of this section, Jeremiah is prophesying to the Israelites that watchers, or gentiles would come and raise their voices against Israel because they have been rebellious toward God. Jeremiah 4:16-ff. God through Jeremiah says that destruction is coming because they did not know God. Then Jeremiah gives us a vision of the entire earth.  What he sees is the destruction that happened in Genesis 1:2.  Some might say that this is a future event but there are flaws in that argument which we will see later.  After the vision, Jeremiah prophesy’s again that the Lord says the whole land shall be desolate.  The first thing we have to take note of is the tense changing.  First Jeremiah prophesy’s in present tense, then tells us a vision in past tense (saw, was, were) then Jeremiah prophecies again in the future tense (shall, will).  If we keep our tenses straight we can understand what he is saying.  For our purposes we will look at Jeremiah’s past tense vision, which is not a prophecy, just the explanation of a vision. This is an example of understanding scripture in light of the context.

Jer 4:23-31 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the Lord, and by his fierce anger.

Remembering Genesis1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.KJV The same Hebrew words for without form and void are used in Jeremiah’s vision.

Jeremiah sees the earth, not a city, not Israel, he sees earth formless and void, without light. There were mountains that moved and hills that moved which speaks of earthquakes.  Then he says he sees no man, and birds fled, and the gardens and the ranchlands became a wilderness, and the cities were broken down.  This means there were cities, that someone made, but there were no men anymore.  The earth became empty, wasteland, and dark because the Lord was angry.

Let’s look at this section of scripture from two other translations

Jeremiah 4:23 I looked at the land - it was unformed and void - and at the sky - it had no light. 24 I looked at the mountains, and they shook - all the hills moved back and forth. 25I looked, and there was no human being; all the birds in the air had fled. 26 I looked, and the fertile fields were a desert, all the land's cities were razed to the ground at the presence of ADONAI, before his burning anger. (Complete Jewish Bible http://www.biblestudytools.com/cjb/)

Jer 4:23-26 I looked at the earth, and it was empty and formless. I looked at the heavens, and there was no light.24 I looked at the mountains and hills, and they trembled and shook.25 I looked, and all the people were gone. All the birds of the sky had flown away.26 I looked, and the fertile fields had become a wilderness. The towns lay in ruins, crushed by the Lord's fierce anger.(Holy Bible, New Living Translation ®, copyright © 1996, 2004 by Tyndale Charitable Trust. Used by permission of Tyndale House Publishers. Now let’s look at the definitions of these words.

Again we see an added word and a non translated word. This is a funny diagram as earth is the subject, without form and void and the heavens are a prepositional phrase, had is the verb, I saw is the pronoun and verb that relate to had, no is the adjective that describes light. Again punctuation was added later. What this is saying is that Jeremiah had a vision of what had happened to the earth and heavens and the earth was formless and empty and the heavens had no light. If you separate this into two clauses the earth was a wasteland and the heavens had no light.
This is the same picture of Genesis 1:2 except Jeremiah goes on to tell us more.

There had been mountains on the earth before it became ruined, and they undulated, or moved in waves, like when there is an earthquake. And all the hills, not just in Israel, all of them everywhere moved sharply. Again this denotes that what Jeremiah saw was not only in Israel because he saw the earth, all of it.

Jeremiah did not see any humans and the birds were gone. One might say “of course there were no men as God hadn’t created them yet”, but that is a problem as the next sentence says the cities and towns were broken down.  Who built the cities and towns?

Jeremiah then saw the planted fields, orchards, and vineyards, become like a desert. And, all inclusive, the cities, all over the earth, were torn down by the face of Jehovah’s burning anger. The places were a wilderness and the cities were broken.  Places is the subject, were is the verb, wilderness is a noun.  Cities is a noun, were is a verb and broken is an adjective. Someone planted the orchards and vineyards.  Someone built the cities. If God was in the process of creating again, as some might think, there couldn’t have already been cities.  This tells us that there may have been something that happened to the humans that were here before the destruction came.

To reiterate previous blog studies in regards to our exit, coming in the future there seems to be three gatherings away from earth.  One is before the tribulation, called the gathering together. The second is during the tribulation for the 144,000.  And the third is at the end of the tribulation for those who do not take the mark of the beast. God will rescue people three different times throughout that entire period, so it could be that something similar happened in the old earth. This is a good explanation as to why we find megalithic structures all over the world that we in our time cannot reproduce.  Yes we can build big buildings but we do not have the machines to quarry and move such large rocks as are found in Puma Punku, or Stonehenge.  Whoever lived before us also had a knowledge of subtle energy as they seem to have been building pyramids and using them to generate power.  This is similar to the tower Telsa built in New York. There are pyramids all over the earth and almost none of them were used as burial tombs.

Some might say that this section in Jeremiah is during the tribulation.  It can’t be.  Every time Jesus speaks of the end, there are still people on earth with the ruined cities and earth.

Matt 24:29-31 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.KJV

Luke 21:25-27 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.KJV

Jesus told us what tribulation would be like and there are still men on earth. There is not a time men won’t be on earth to see this coming to pass.  If he gathers the elect, the non elect are left.  If he shakes the heavens, people will see him coming in a cloud. Therefore Jeremiah’s words are a vision of a time when there are no men on the earth. Now let’s look at the next part of Jeremiah’s words that are prophecy for the future of his time.  Right up front the Lord says the land will be desolate but He will not make a full end.

Jeremiah 4:27 For thus hath the Lord said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.28 For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.29 The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.30 And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.31 For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.KJV

He says the whole city will flee and men won’t dwell in the cities.  This relates to a future time but men will still be on earth.  Even though they mourn in crimson the Lord will shrug his shoulders at them. What’s interesting to note is the woman in travail, it sounds familiar to me.  Let’s remember that Jerusalem has been abominated and desolated many times. Babylon (599 BC) made it desolate, then Shishak (971 BC), Antiochus (168 BC), Pompey (63 BC), Sossius & Herod (37 BC) all abominated it, and then Vespasian-Titus (70AD) made it desolate again. To understand desolate we need only to look at that period of time when there were no Jewish people living in the land until 1947.  No one cared too much for the land of Israel because it was a desert.  Nothing was growing there, and there was no fresh water.  When God brought back the Jews, the land started to wake up, plants started to grow, water started to flow again.  That is what Jeremiah was talking about; the city had been abominated, and desolated until God brought his people back.  People lived in Israel, but it was not a country it was part of the Ottoman Empire, and a forgotten place until 1917 when the British took the land from the Turks and called it Palestine.  The British won the land in 40 days by flying planes overhead. God did not make a full end of Israel, the land started to be healed again. Isaiah prophesied this event.

Isa 31:5 As birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.KJV

We see from history that Israel has had a rocky time since Jacob’s children tried to return to their land.  In our future, at some point, there will be events that take place that will cause death and destruction on earth, but men will still be on earth, many may die, but there will not be a time when there will be no humans on the earth until the new heaven and earth.

Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.KJV

The first heaven and earth will be completely gone, in Genesis 1:1 God created it a complete work but now at this time it will be gone. A holy city will come down out of heaven and the city will not have need of the sun or the moon for light, because the glory of God will be the illuminator and the Lamb will illuminate it. Similar maybe to when God said “light be”, but it was not sunlight in Genesis 1:3.

Rev 21:22-27 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

We are told there will be no night there. This is now different from the state of darkness that was over the land and the many faces of the waters in Genesis 1:2-3, and then God separated the light and the darkness calling them day and night. But now in the new heavens and earth there is no night.

Rev 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.

Rev 22:4-6 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.KJV

It should not seem unusual that there has to be another heaven and earth, as there has been so much destruction on this one since Adam. Therefore it should not seem unusual that Jeremiah saw the earth in a destroyed state where there were no men on the planet, and all the cities, gardens, orchards, and vineyards were ruined and lying in waste. There had to have been men or human types, to have planted gardens, orchards and vineyards, and who had built and lived in cities and towns. As I have pointed out previously in discussing Lucifer, we humans are not the center of the story, but a part of a bigger story, where beings of an angelic class that lived before Adam was created about six thousand years ago.  And we know archaeological evidence shows us that the beings that lived on earth prior to six thousand years had bone structure like we do. Yet God, in his fierce anger destroyed earth. There’s more to look at on this subject. We will have to look at the planet Rahab, but not yet.
