When we talk about speaking out the words of God we are
talking about something different than asking in prayer. Whether logos, rhema,
laleo, or grapho, instead of asking we are declaring. There is a phrase
regarding “speaking by the Holy Spirit” that we need to look at more closely.
The Prophets of the Old Covenant spoke words given to them from the Holy
Spirit. When we are speaking by the Holy Spirit we are speaking living and
active words that have power, and that power changes things. When the Spirit of
the Lord is involved, kings become paralyzed and naked, or do exactly as the
Spirit wills. This is obviously not of men’s own desires, but by the will of the
Holy Spirit who is on the earth as the advocate of the righteous. With the Holy
Spirit within us there is a vein of power we should explore.
1 Cor 12:3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one
speaking under the power and influence of the [Holy] Spirit of God can [ever]
say, Jesus be cursed! And no one can [really] say, Jesus is [my] Lord, except
by and under the power and influence of the Holy Spirit. AMP
Speaking under the power of the Holy Spirit is speaking
words from the Holy Spirit through people to other people. Sometimes it is
prophetic words spoken in the languages found on the earth, sometimes it is
heavenly words in the language of angels. Sometimes the one speaking knows the
words and the language that is spoken and sometimes the one speaking does not. Sometimes
the hearer knows the words spoken and sometimes they do not. Regardless, the
Holy Spirit wants something verbalized on the earth and the Holy Spirit uses
humans to do that. Let’s look at these words carefully.

It would be easy for someone who disagrees with the Holy
Spirit to accuse the person speaking by the Holy Spirit as cursing or saying
something against Jesus. That would only happen when the person speaking is
speaking in a language that the people do not know, right? If the person was
speaking in a known language they wouldn’t be able to misconstrue what was
said. Likewise if one is not speaking words from the Holy Spirit, that one
could not be calling Jesus Lord. We need the Holy Spirit within us to declare
that Jesus is Lord. Therefore if someone says Lord Jesus, or Jesus is Lord,
that one is speaking by way of the Holy Spirit. That would be something spoken
in a language known to the people, right? If someone said Lord Jesus in a
language foreign to others, they would not know what that person speaking said.
Therefore this one statement Paul made, 1 Corinthians 12:3 tells us that
speaking by the Holy Spirit can either be in languages known or unknown. If the
speaker is speaking by the Holy Spirit, the speaker will not be cursing Jesus,
but saying Lord Jesus; no matter what language the speaker is using, the languages
of earthly men or of angels.
People were speaking by the Holy Spirit since the beginning
of humanity. Here Moses had a conversation with the Lord and the Lord took some
of the Holy Spirit upon Moses and placed it on the seventy elders and they
prophesied, during that time.
Numbers 11:24 And Moses went out, and spoke the words
of the Lord to the people; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the
people, and he set them round about the tabernacle. 25 And the Lord
came down in a cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the spirit that was upon
him, and put it upon the seventy men that were elders; and when the spirit
rested upon them, they prophesied and ceased.

We understand that the Holy Spirit upon, and in people
allows people to speak for the Holy Spirit. Moses wanted all the people to have
the Holy Spirit on them. Before Jesus came, the Holy Spirit would come upon the
righteous holy men and women, but when they sinned the Holy Spirit would leave.
After Jesus came, even people with sin can have the Holy Spirit in them and the
Holy Spirit does not leave. Samuel had a school for Prophets. What did the
Prophets do? They prophesied with the Holy Spirit upon them. They spoke for the
Holy Spirit. David hid out with the Prophets for a time when Saul was looking
for him. This is why David understood things of the Spirit and prophecy. The
power of the Holy Spirit was so strong among the Prophets that even when
non-prophets came near, the non-prophets prophesied.
1 Sam 19:18 aka 1 Kings 19:18 So David fled, and
escaped, and comes to Samuel to Armathaim, and tells him all that Saul had done
to him: and Samuel and David went, and dwelt in Navath in Rama.
19 And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is in
Navath in Rama. 20 And Saul sent messengers to take David, and they
saw the assembly of the prophets, and Samuel stood as appointed
over them; and the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they
prophesy. 21 And it was told Saul, and he sent other messengers, and
they also prophesied: and Saul sent again a third set of messengers, and they
also prophesied. 22 And Saul was very angry, and went himself also to
Armathaim, and he comes as far as the well of the threshing floor that is in
Sephi; and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And
they said, Behold, in Navath in Rama. 23 And he went thence to Navath
in Rama: and there came the Spirit of God upon him also, and he went on
prophesying till he came to Navath in Rama. 24 And he took off his
clothes, and prophesied before them; and lay down naked all that day and all
that night: therefore they said, Is Saul also among the
prophets?
Saul prophesied naked. Seriously, what was going on in
Ramah? That is a lot of power. For all those who don’t understand the power of
the Holy Spirit, the man with the most human authority in the land of Israel,
could not withstand the power of the Holy Spirit. The man who had all the earthly
authority in the land lay naked before the Lord’s Prophets, prophesying. Who
has more power, the earthly king or the Prophets? On the earth today, who has
more power, the earthly kings and elite or the Prophets? What could happen if
we really understood that? We’d see our earthly leaders lying naked before the
Lord’s Prophets, prophesying the words of Yahweh.
When the Holy Spirit is in a person, that person has more
power than those who do not. David hung around the Prophets. The Holy Spirit
spoke through him, and the Spirit’s words were upon David’s tongue.
2 Sam 23:1 aka 2 Kings 23:1 23:1 And these are the
last words of David.
Faithful is David the son of Jessae, and
faithful the man whom the Lord raised up to be the anointed of the God of
Jacob, and beautiful are the psalms of Israel. 2 The
Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, and his word was upon my
tongue.

The Holy Spirit spoke, #2980 laleo, and his word, #3056 logos,
was upon David’s tongue. This is why we love David’s psalms of Israel, because
the Holy Spirit inspired them. The words came from David’s tongue, but they
were due to the Holy Spirit giving him the logos of God. The words of David’s
songs were given in the language of the people, but it may be that those were
not the only words of the Lord David spoke out. All we know is that the Holy
Spirit initiated the words, the same as with the school of the Prophets.
Ezekiel had the Holy Spirit come upon him and then the Lord
spoke to him. Ezekiel needed the Holy Spirit to hear the words of the Lord, but
the Holy Spirit took him up, lifted him away, and stood him on his feet. That
is a different posture than Saul. Ezekiel was a Prophet, Prophets can stand
before the Lord as compared to earthly kings.
Ezekiel 2:1 This was the appearance of the likeness of
the glory of the Lord. And I saw and fell upon my face, and heard the voice of
one speaking: and he said to me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will
speak to thee. 2 And the Spirit came upon me, and took me up, and
raised me, and set me on my feet: and I heard him speaking to me.

Ezekiel’s visions were amazing. He understood all the
doings of the Lord regarding the Glory leaving the Temple and the future of the
world. The Holy Spirit is the one who is on the earth today; our helper, our
comforter, and our teacher. This is why on the Day of Pentecost that people who
believed that Jesus is Lord received the power of the Holy Spirit in them. Now
people who are filled with the Holy Spirit can speak the things of the Holy
Spirit.

If the Holy Spirit would speak through the disciples when
they were being interrogated for being disciples of Jesus, the understanding is
that the people who were persecuting the disciples were truly fighting against
the Holy Spirit. It is one thing to imprison a criminal, but another thing to
attempt to imprison the Spirit of the Living God. Remember the school of the
Prophets and how much power they had. Again if Jesus’ disciples would all rise
up today, we could see a lot of naked world leaders lying on the ground
prophesying.
Jesus was speaking in the temple courts and he asks this as

David laleo’d by the Holy Spirit that the Lord laleo’d to
David’s Lord. David is recounting a conversation between the Father and the
Son. We understand that. Jesus was asking the people about why David would say
that. David said it by way of the Holy Spirit. Again, similar to what Paul was
saying, no one speaking by the Holy Spirit calls Jesus anathema and yet no one
can call him Lord except by the Holy Spirit. Wasn’t David calling the future
Messiah his Lord? Jesus is Lord, and although he had not yet come, David calls
him Lord. He did this by the Holy Spirit.
Solomon tells us something interesting. The righteous
spoiled the unrighteous because the Lord fought for them when the Holy Spirit,
the Spirit of Wisdom opened the mouths of the dumb.
Wisdom 10:20-21 Therefore the righteous spoiled the
ungodly, and praised thy holy name, O Lord, and magnified with one accord thine
hand, that fought for them.21 For wisdom opened the mouth of the dumb, and made
the tongues of them that cannot speak eloquent. KJV
The Holy Spirit opened the mouths of the dumb and made them
speak eloquent words which helped the Lord fight for the righteous. Then the
righteous praised His Holy Name. Those who could not speak, spoke when the Holy
Spirit came upon them. Those who wouldn’t know what to say, said what was
needed to spoil the ungodly. This is the importance of speaking out, but in
this instance the dumb spoke out through the Holy Spirit. Remember, our weapons
for calling out the words of God that we studied last week. We are in a war

the Spirit came and opened the mouths of the ones who couldn’t speak. Whatever
it was that they spoke it was eloquent to the pulling down of the strongholds,

verbally because the Holy Spirit will open people’s mouths. People will speak
by the Spirit of Wisdom.
Jeremiah prophesied that Israel would be in captivity for
70 years. Daniel recognized that when the 70 years were ending, and prayed and
fasted for the people. Cyrus is the earthly king that overtook Babylon and
allowed the captives to go back to Jerusalem. By the rhema of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, Cyrus then makes a
proclamation.
2 Chron 36:20-23 Those who had escaped from the sword he
took away to Babylon, where they were servants to him and his sons until the
kingdom of Persia was established there, 21 To fulfill the Lord's word by
Jeremiah, till the land had enjoyed its sabbaths; for as long as it lay
desolate it kept sabbath to fulfill seventy years. [Lev 25:4; 26:43; Jer 25:11;
29:10.] 22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the
Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the Lord stirred up the
spirit of Cyrus king of Persia so that he made a proclamation throughout all
his kingdom and also put it in writing: 23 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All
the kingdoms of the earth the Lord, the God of heaven, has given me, and He has

Chronicles says rhema,
and Ezra says logos. Both are the
same account so both words are acceptable to use regarding Jeremiah’s
revelation from the Lord. Cyrus’ spirit was awakened or stirred to fulfill the
words of Jeremiah. Cyrus was the person who had the ability to do what needed
to be done for the captive Jews. Some of the people who went back to Jerusalem
were from the northern kingdom and some were from the southern kingdom. Nehemiah
was an attendant to Cyrus and he spoke about why he was sorrowful, which was
the very thing that caused Cyrus to allow the people to return and rebuild the
wall and then the temple. Nehemiah makes the point that Yahweh did testify, or
attested, to the people by the Holy Spirit, but they refused to listen.
Nehemiah 9:30 Yet thou didst bear long with them many
years, and didst testify to them by thy Spirit by the hand of thy prophets: but
they hearkened not; so thou gavest them into the hand of the nations of the
land. 31 But thou in thy many mercies didst not appoint them to
destruction, and didst not forsake them; for thou art strong, and merciful, and
pitiful.

Nehemiah is reminding the people why they went into
captivity, because they didn’t listen to the words spoken by the Prophets which
were given to them by the Holy Spirit. Speaking by the Holy Spirit is not just
powerless, empty words. Speaking by the Spirit is not just wishing. Speaking by
the Spirit is not powerful due to the person who speaks, it is powerful due to
the Holy Spirit speaking. They are His words; we are the loudspeaker, He is the
playwright.
When we speak by the Spirit, whether in known or unknown
languages, the words are powerful. Those words can reveal things that the Lord
wants us to know. Those words can also testify of the Messiah years before the
Messiah comes to earth. Those words can bring down fortresses and keep us from
captivity. Those words can raise a “Cyrus” to deliver Yahweh’s people. Those
words can cause kings to writhe naked on the floor, speaking words from the
Spirit of Wisdom. Those words can even come out of the mouths of the dumb to
help win a war for the righteous. When an unbeliever hears the words spoken by
a believer from the Holy Spirit something happens, the power of the Holy
Spirit’s words enters into the individual.
1 Thess 1:4-6 It is clear to us, friends, that God not only
loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special. 5
When the Message we preached came to you, it wasn't just words. Something
happened in you. The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions.
You paid careful attention to the way we lived among you, 6
and determined to live that way yourselves. In imitating us, you imitated the
Master. Although great trouble accompanied the Word, you were able to take
great joy from the Holy Spirit! — taking the trouble with the joy, the joy with
the trouble. (from THE MESSAGE: The

1411 δύναμις dunamis doo'-nam-is From G1410; force (literally
or figuratively); specifically miraculous power (usually by
implication a miracle itself) KJV Usage: ability, abundance,
meaning, might (-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle (-s), power, strength,
violence, mighty (wonderful) work.
The miracle working power of the logos spoken by someone
who was speaking from the Holy Spirit gives the hearer strength to endure. If
one speaks by the Spirit, one brings the power of the Holy Spirit into the life
of another. Those words that we speak are miracle working words. We see how
important words from the Holy Spirit are to humankind, more powerful than
earthly kings. And that is exactly what the devil does not want us to know,
that if we rise up to speak from the Holy Spirit we will have miracle power to
overcome and spoil the ungodly. If we spoil the ungodly we will praise His Holy
Name. Shouldn’t we spoil the strongman’s house? Can’t we bind the strong man?
