We have a short letter written by someone named Jude. This is the second letter he is writing and he is angry. He is seeing unholy people bringing their unholiness into the church, profaning the church, and he is telling the people a second time to discern the situation. He is concerned about these evil people preaching cheap grace, or grace as a license to sin. He is also angry about these evil people teaching unholy salvation. What is unholy or profane salvation? Jude also tells us to seize people from hell. Let’s explore.
Jude 1 G* Jude, G* [2of Jesus G5547 3Christ G1401 1bondman], G80 and brother G1161 G* of James, …
Jude identifies himself as the brother of James. He is not the brother of Jesus, but he could be a cousin. He is Lebbaeus Thaddaeus or also known as “Thaddeus”, or “Lebbeus”, or also “Jude Thaddaeus”. His name may be derived from Jaduh or Thaduh, which means “praise”. The surname Thaddeus derives from the tribe of Judah. Jude wrote a gospel and he tells us how Jesus called him.
The Gospel of Jude Thaddaeus 2:14 And two days later, as he was passing along, Jesus looked in the door of a workshop and saw Thaddaeus, that is, Lebbaeus, mending a wheel. 15And he said to him, "Come away, follow me." And it fell silent in the shop, and Thaddaeus put down his hammer and immediately followed him.

Jude founded the church at Edessa, an ancient city of Mesopotamia located in southeast Turkey. During the Greek period Edessa became prestigious and prosperous under the Seleucids. The Romans colonized it and used it for a military base while Christianity grew in its region.
Something important to notice about Jude is that he is well educated and his writing style is that of an Essene. While the Pharisees claimed the apostles were uneducated men, they were not all fishermen. Jude is a formally educated individual. Whether Jude entered fourteen years of Essene schooling before Jesus’ ministry or after Jesus died, we do not know. But in his gospel he writes about the harpazo in almost the exact way that Paul does. Paul spent his fourteen years in desert schooling in the Essene community before writing any of his letters to the churches. Since Jude Thaddaeus was an apostle to Edessa he would have had to have written a gospel for those people as they did not have synagogues or access to any other writings. This book has been found in two places, one in modern Edessa, Turkey, and also among remains from the Library of Alexandria.

Circulating many copies this letter to the churches was a normal process as the people all knew the apostles and disciples. Jude writes to the sanctified in the Elohim Father. He also writes to the protected and guarded, and called, in Jesus Messiah.

Jude says he had a compulsion or constraint to write about the common or shared in common, salvation or deliverance. For Jude to be compelled to write about this it must be important. The common salvation can be watered down salvation, like saying a few magic words or cheap grace. But it can also mean defiled or profane salvation. He says to strive earnestly for faith once entrusted to the holy ones. This tells us that others were preaching some kind of unclean salvation. Did they turn the message into a gospel of easy salvation? We do this today to fill our churches in hopes that the people showing up on Sundays will eventually become committed believers. However Jude addresses the problem of this all-inclusive gospel; deceivers can enter in.
Jude 4 G3921 For crept in G1063 G5100 certain G444 men, G3588 the ones G3819 earlier G4270 being written about beforehand G1519 in G3778 this G3588 G2917 judgment —
Some men entered in secretly long ago which Jude wrote previously in their judicial decision. The previous letter that Jude wrote was not his Gospel. It was another letter that has been lost. We don’t know what Jude wrote before concerning these men, but someone(s) already passed a sentence against them. Today word gets around much faster when people are doing things wrong or watering down salvation. What is wrong with these people?
… G765 impious, G3588 [2the G3588 G2316 4of our God G1473 G5484 3favor G3346 1transposing] G1519 into G766 lewdness, G2532 and G3588 [2the G3441 3only G1203 4master G2316 1God] G2532 and G2962 our Lord G1473 G* Jesus G5547 Christ G720 denying.
These men are impious, or ungodly, unholy, profane and wicked. They are transposing, exchanging or transferring the favor (charin) or grace (charis) of the Elohim into licentiousness, lewdness, debauchery or unbridled lust. They are denying, rejecting, or contradicting the only despotēs, the “absolute ruler” Elohim and Yahweh Jesus Messiah. Easy salvation with grace as a license for sin ushers in people who will eventually deny that the Elohim and Yahweh Jesus Messiah are the only way to salvation.
Have you ever heard a preacher claim that there is no hell? This is a profane salvation message. Have you ever heard a preacher claim that everyone goes to heaven? This is an unclean salvation message. Another unholy salvation message is that we do not have to confess Jesus is Lord and that he rose up on the third day. We are to confess with our mouth as both Paul and Jesus testify.
Have you ever heard a preacher claim that we do not have to change our behaviors, that God love us the way we are? That is an unholy salvation message. God does love the saint and sinner. However we are expected to change, take up our cross and follow him, not follow sin. We are to put off the old man and put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. We are to be holy as he is holy. The Elohim loves us too much to let us stay the way we are.
Another unclean salvation message is that we have to keep the Mosaic laws. Never mind that there is no temple, that we cannot bring a blood sacrifice, and that there is no priesthood. We can pretend that Paul never wrote Romans explaining to us why we do not need to follow the law. Of course, as Paul dealt with, circumcision does not provide salvation, or non-salvation, so the preaching of circumcision is a profane salvation. The idea that Jews are saved because they are the Elohim’s special people is also an unholy salvation. Jewish people are not saved unless they confess with their mouth Jesus as Yahweh and Messiah, and believe he rose up on the third day.
We can see that there are many doctrines of cheap unclean salvation rumbling around the Body of Christ. Jude wants us to be wise and discerning. If we hear someone preach profane salvation, we are to boldly correct it as it is happening.
Jude 5 G5279 [3to remind G1161 1And G1473 4you G1014 2I want], G1492 [3knowing G1473 1you G530 2once] G3778 this, G3754 that G3588 the G2962 Lord G2992 [2people G1537 3from out of G1093 4 the land G* 5of Egypt G4982 1having delivered], G3588 the G1208 second G3588 of the ones G3361 not G4100 believing G622 he destroyed.
Jude says he wants to remind the people that they once knew these things, that first Yahweh rescued people out of Egypt, then second he utterly destroyed the non-believers. Jude is reminding them that the exodus generation was saved as a group, but then the unbelievers were killed. Now he is making a comparison here talking about the angels.
Jude 6 G32 Also angels G5037 G3588 G3361 not G5083 keeping G3588 their own G1473 G746 sovereignty, G235 but G620 leaving G3588 their own G2398 G3613 dwelling-place, …
The angels were not guarding or observing their own origin, rather they left behind their own private and personal habitation. This implies that their own personal body was left behind. As far as we know angels do not procreate. Maybe they did at one time but they do not have families. Therefore they had to change their own form to cohabitate with human women.
...G1519 [6for G2920 9judgment G3173 8of great G2250 7a day G1199 3bonds G126 2in everlasting G5259 4under G2217 5 the infernal region G5083 1he keeps].
Because some angels did not guard their own origin and left behind their own private habitation, Yahweh is guarding them in eternal imprisonment under zophos, “nether darkness”, into the day of mega krisis, “great divine judgment”. Peter told us the same thing. Peter told us that the angels sinned.
2 Peter 2:4 For God did not [even] spare angels that sinned, but cast them into hell, delivering them to be kept there in pits of gloom till the judgment and their doom.
2 Peter 2:9 Now if [all these things are true, then be sure] the Lord knows how to rescue the godly out of temptations and trials, and how to keep the ungodly under chastisement until the day of judgment and doom,
The Amplified Bible (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1987), 2 Pe 2:4,9.
The comparison is the same. Collectively Yahweh rescued the exodus generation, but individually he dealt with the unbelievers. Yahweh Elohim did not punish all angels, only the ones who sinned. Unfortunately humans are still vexed by the sins of those angels. We have contaminated DNA. We have vipers and flying asps, figuratively people who are dominators and overlords who were not given their positions of authority but simply manipulate themselves into authority, no matter who is in charge. We deal with effects of the angel’s sin every day. We inherited a broken world, but as Paul tells us, that was the plan. We are the plan to show principalities and powers the kaleidoscope wisdom of the Elohim. He created us to be his secret weapon to overthrow the rebellious sons of God.
Ephesians 3:10 [The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.
The Amplified Bible (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1987), Eph 3:10.
Through us they learn about the mystery. Through us they learn about Yahweh’s plan for their own judgment. We are the ones who will judge angels. Jude continues with a third comparison.
Jude 7 G5613 As G* Sodom G2532 and G* Gomorrah, G2532 and G3588 the G4012 [2around G1473 3them G4172 1cities] G3588 G3664 likened G3778 to these G5158 in manner G1608 given themselves to fornication, G2532 and G565 having gone G3694 after G4561 [2flesh G2087 1other], G4295 are situated G1164 as an example, G4442 [4fire G166 3of eternal G1349 2punishment G5254 1undergoing]
Jude uses Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim as another similar example. They tropos, “turned” themselves to ekporneuō “from out of indulgence in sexual sin”, fornication, and followed after eteros/heteros “another different kind” of flesh. This is more than adultery because it is an eteros flesh, another different kind of flesh. An allos flesh (another of the same kind) would be a man going from one woman to another. An eteros flesh would be a man going to a different kind of flesh, meaning animals. Their sins included men having intercourse with men, but this is a different kind of flesh. There are mammals, animals, fowl, and fish. Jude says they are set before us as a proof, suffering the judicial condemnation of eternal fire. There were five cities of the plains, four were destroyed for their sins, Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, while Zohar was spared. Some further reading.

Jude’s point is that the righteous were spared in Zohar while the sinners were not. The righteous were spared after the exodus and the righteous angels were not sent to the nether darkness in chains.
Jude 8 G3668 In like manner G3305 however indeed
G2532 also And G3778 these G1797 dreaming ones, G4561 [3 the flesh G3303 1indeed G3392 2defile], G2963 [3lordships G1161 1and G114 2annul], G1391 [3glorious things G1161 1and G987 2blaspheme].
Someone should have included the “in like manner indeed” with verse 7. Verse 8 starts with “And”. The sentence reads:
“And their sensual day dreams truly pollutes flesh but reject rulers but blaspheme.”
This is what Jude started out saying, that these impious people are exchanging the favor of the Elohim into unbridled lust and they are rejecting the Elohim and Yahweh Jesus Messiah. They are polluting their flesh. They reject rulers, and they blaspheme. Grace can be an excuse to allow all kinds of sins.
Jude points out the collective salvation of Jacob’s heirs, and then says that the individual unbelievers were not spared. He then compares the angels and sodom’s sins, which were both sexual in nature. All three cases there are sinners sentenced and the righteous saved. This gives us a clue. Were people saying that collectively the Jews or the church were saved including the sinners? Jude then picks the most well known sins and says, nope the sinners are not spared. There is no easy salvation for them. He goes on.
Jude 9 G3588 G1161 And G* Michael G3588 the G743 archangel, G3753 when G3588 [2the G1228 3devil G1252 1litigating against], G1256 reasoned G4012 concerning G3588 G* Moses's G4983 body, G3756 did not G5111 dare G2920 [3case G2018 1to bear G988 2a blasphemous], G235 but G2036 said, G2008 May [2reproach G1473 3you G2962 1 the Lord].
To understand this verse we have to understand that there are missing texts that Jude was quoting from. Moses was buried near Baal-Peor or the Lord of the House of Horus, a place where the Moabites worshipped. Some of their ritual rites involved excrement. This sounds like a terrible place, a place the Israelites would never venture into to find Moses’ body. And that is the point. Moses was buried near the Lord of the House of Horus so that they would not take his bones and carry them around like a Teraphim. Diabolos, who is Satanas not Drakōn, argued for Moses’ body because he wanted the Israelites to make an idol of his bones.
We see another type of idol worship which is a teraphim. A teraphim is an idol that was supposed to attend to humans for healing. People had several teraphim (plural in the Hebrew). The Masoretic text suggests that Rachel had stolen and hidden teraphim, but it is a different word in the Septuagint. Also 1 Samuel 19:13 & 16 are also rendered terephim in the Masoretic text but “statues” in the Septuagint. Josiah however removed teraphim along with other idols in the temple.

Jude makes the point here that Michael did not blaspheme Satanas while opposing him. Instead he just said “Yahweh rebuke you”. In a cloaked way Jude is saying that the archangel Michael did not blaspheme Satanas as the impious people who reject the Elohim and Yahweh Jesus Messiah do, making the point that we should not blaspheme anyone, including Satanas and the principalities and powers. Let’s face it, we don’t like Satanas but he is smarter than we are. Our tendency is to blaspheme him for his mutiny, but how many times do we do the same things. Lured by money, power, fame, we are just as vulnerable as anyone. To understand Moses’ death, read here:

Jude 10 G3778 But these G1161 G3745 indeed as many things as G3303 G3756 they know not of, G1492 G987 they blaspheme; G3745 and as many things as G1161 G5447 [2physically G5613 4as G3588 G249 5illogical G2226 6living creatures G1987 1they 3have knowledge of], G1722 in G3778 these things G5351 they corrupt themselves.
Jude is still speaking of the impious ones who preach unclean salvation. They speak evil, blaspheme, of things they know nothing about. They know or understand naturally as irrational animals. Jude is saying that even though they come to your church and attend your potluck meals, they do not have the Holy Spirit on the inside. They are not led by the Spirit of the Living God.
Jude 11 G3759 Woe G1473 to them, G3754 for G3588 in the G3598 way G3588 G* of Cain G4198 they went, G2532 and G3588 in the G4106 delusion G3588 G* of Balaam G3408 for a wage G1632 they shed, G2532 and G3588 in the G485 dispute G3588 G* of Core G622 perished.
The word “woe” is an exclamatory public condemnation. It is an interjection. It is meant for effect. Jude is not fooling around and his words are strong. He says that these impious ones proceeded like Cain. How did Cain behave? When he was angered by Abels animals eating his crops he gave Yahweh an offering from the bad harvest. Yahweh wasn’t pleased. He knew what was happening, but he also knew that Satanas was twisting the situation in Cain’s mind and Cain thought that Yahweh would take retribution out on Abel. Instead Yahweh corrected Cain. The way Cain proceeded was to murder Abel.
Jude brings us the wandering error of Balaam who bestowed a plan for a curse for money. Balaam couldn’t curse Israel, no matter how much he wanted to. So he told Balak how to entice Israel to curse themselves, and got paid for his plan.
The controversy of Core took place at the time when Moses was giving the Israelites the laws for living holy. Core, Dathan, Abiron, Aun, and two hundred and fifty men countered Moses; saying that the congregation was holy so they don’t need extra laws and that Moses was setting himself against the congregation of Yahweh. Of course we know how that worked out for them. The leaders were swallowed up by the earth and the two hundred and fifty were consumed with fire. Core claimed everyone was holy so they should not have to do what Moses said. It was the rallying of a rebellion against Moses, and Yahweh’s prescription of holiness that killed Core and the others.
Jude said that the impious ones claim that everyone is saved, but individually the unholy were all destroyed.
Jude 12 G3588 These G1510.2.6 are G1722 in G3588 G26 your love feasts G1473 G4694 as hidden reefs, G4910 feasting together G1473 among you, G870 fearlessly G1438 tending themselves; G4165 G3507 [2clouds G504 1waterless G5259 4by G417 5winds G3911 3being carried about]; G1186 [3trees G5352 2autumnal G175 1unfruitful] G1364 twice G599 having died, G1610 being rooted out;
A “love feast” is a potluck where the assembly was to share food and fellowship. Paul corrected some bad behaviors where some self important people were eating before everyone else, leaving the poor to go hungry. Jude says these impious people come to your love feasts and are hidden rocks feasting sumptuously together, fearlessly and shamelessly tending to themselves. They are dry clouds carried away from under wind. The are unfruitful autumn trees twice decayed and uprooted. Jude is rather colorful. If these people come to our assemblies with cheap grace, unclean salvation, self centeredness, and rejecting the Elohim and Jesus Messiah, they are going to cause problems in the body of Christ.
Jude 13 G2949 [2waves G66 1wild] G2281 of the sea G1890 foaming up G3588 their own G1438 G152 shame; G792 [2stars G4107 1wandering], G3739 ones to whom G3588 the G2217 infernal region G3588 G4655 of darkness G1519 [2into G3588 3the G165 4eon G5083 1 is being kept].
Jude says that they are wild surges of the sea foaming shame and disgrace. They are roaming stars that the nether world’s gloom of darkness guarded into the eons. Stars many times are referred to as “angels”.
The idea of a wandering star is a rover who leads astray, or an impostor, deceiver, or seducer. These are seducing spirits, who lead humans astray. One third of the stars will be thrown out of heaven for judgment. This would suggest that there are many more deceiving stars that were not part of the corruption before the flood, who are also in rebellion against the Creator. Remember the fallen leader angels are in one place of punishment and their fallen subordinates, the Grigori, are in another place of punishment. Therefore these seducing stars are separate or different from the Nephilim and the giants. The suggestion from Revelation 12 is that these stars are forced to earth. Jude suggests that the infernal region is waiting for these wandering stars. This is obvious because they are not in the infernal regions yet. Remember, the angels sport with the devil. However, it would seem that one third of the angels led humans astray. So not only do humans have to contend with demons, we have to contend with seducing star angels. I Timothy 4:1 says that in the latter times people will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. Both seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach.

Jude must be pretty mad at the situation he was writing to confront. He certainly seems angry. This is interesting because we do not see much about Jude Thaddaeus in the canonized scriptures but there is something interesting that shows his personality from his own gospel. After Mary Magdalene went to Jesus’ tomb and the angel told her to go tell Cephas/Peter, Jude had to correct Peter.
The Gospel of Jude Thaddaeus 26:9 When Mary returned to the disciples and told them all that she had seen, Peter turned away his face, and would not believe her. 10 And then he turned back his face, and began to speak to her in a loud voice. And Mary wept. 11 And Thaddaeus answered and said to him, "Peter, wrath is always with you. Now I see you contending against the woman. 12 But if the Lord has called her to be a worthy witness, who are you to reject her? For truly the Lord has loved her."
This is the one time we see Jude’s character in any written text other than his letter. He now goes on to stronger words against the impious people. Jude quotes Enoch. As we know, the first century believers had the book of Enoch in every synagogue, at one time or another as they rotated their scrolls. They all knew Enoch from memory, like every other written work. They didn’t have their own copies. The apostles didn’t even have synagogues to go do research and reference the text. Jude, as well as all the other people writing letters, had to quote from memory. The first century believers believed and knew many different texts that were not canonized, such as Jasher and Jubilees. All these works were scribed by the Essene scribes and students memorized these texts by being scribes. The Essene scribes hid many works in caves in clay jugs that had been made by the Therapeutaes, who were part of the same holy order living in Egypt. The temple scribes were not Essene scribes. The Temple scribes became corrupted later under Pharisaical control.
The Book of Enoch 1:9 And behold! He comes with ten thousand of His holy ones (saints) to execute judgment on all, and to destroy all the ungodly (wicked); and to convict all flesh of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.
Lumpkin, Joseph. Enoch, Jubilees, Jasher: Banned from the Bible (p. 17). Fifth Estate. Kindle Edition.
Jude reiterates this. Since we cannot dissect it from the book of Enoch we will dissect it in the AP and the LXX-WH
Jude 14 G4395 [7prophesied G1161 1And G2532 2also G3778 8to these G1442 4 the seventh G575 5from G* 6Adam G* 3Enoch], G3004 saying, G2400 Behold, G2064 the Lord came G2962 G1722 with G39 [2holy G3461 3myriads G1473 1his],
“Prophesy but and this seventh away from adam Enoch speak Lo! Come Yahweh in holy myriads his.”
It should give us perspective to understand that Jude has memorized Enoch, when today many preachers have never read anything Enoch wrote. This is one reason our understanding of the gospel is lopsided. We have no concept and understanding of our first century brothers and sisters. Needless to say, Jude was mad at the impious ones who were teaching cheap grace and unclean salvation.

“Prophesy prophesy but and to seventh away from adam Enoch speak Lo! Come Yahweh in saints myriads his”
We see the LXX-WH notes the same word twice, prophesy or foretell. It also notes holy people instead of holy things that come in myriads with Yahweh. The reason they are coming is to downward judge or bring heavenly judgment.
Jude 15 G4160 executing G2920 judgment G2596 against G3956 all, G2532 and G1651 to reprove G3956 all G3588 the G765 impious G1473 of them G4012 concerning G3956 all G3588 the G2041 works G763 of their impiety G1473 G3739 which G764 they were impious; G2532 and G4012 concerning G3956 all G3588 of the G4642 hard things G3739 which G2980 [3spoke G2596 4against G1473 5him G268 2sinners G765 1impious].
“Make judgment downward all and rebuke all the ungodly them about all the works ungodliness their this ungodly and about all the violent this speak downward him sinful ungodly.”
Jude is calling on heavenly judgment for these impious ones, just like David did in writing imprecatory psalms that the congregation sang.

“Make judgment downward all and rebuke all the ungodly all soul/life/breath about all the work ungodliness theirs this ungodly and about all the violent this speak downward their sinful ungodly.”
We find one variation, the word “soul”, psuchē meaning “breath, soul, or life”. Usually more properly translated “breath of life”. It comes from the word psuchō, “to breathe or forcible respiration”, this is different from pneuma meaning “spirit, wind, breeze or breath”. Psuchē further parses to pneō “breath or blow” and aēr “lower air”. Why is this important? It is giving us a specific place that the saints coming with Jesus are going to do their rebuking, on all beings breathing the lower air. This is important. We judge and rebuke the ungodly, all life on earth regarding all the works of ungodliness, their ungodly violence and ungodly sin.

Remember Jude, like Peter, has explained that Yahweh knows how to rescue the righteous out of trouble. Jude uses the examples of the Exodus, the angels, and Sodom to show us Yahweh can destroy the sinners. He then reminds us of Cain, Balaam, and Core, and their sinful behaviors. Jude tells us the impious are coming to our potluck fellowships and causing trouble.
Jude 16 G3778 These G1510.2.6 are G1113 grumblers G3202 being discontented, G2596 [2according to G3588 G1939 3their desires G1473 G4198 1going]; G2532 and G3588 G4750 their mouth G1473 G2980 speaks G5246 pompous things, G2296 admiring G4383 a person G5622 for the benefit G5484 of favor.
The impious are grumblers about the Elohim, not just rejectors of the Elohim. They murmur and downward complain as they go epithumia “yearning and longing for inordinate desires”. They speak boastful and excessive insolence. Pompous is the idea of “bulging over, over swollen, or to a great size”. In this case they are probably excessively flattering someone’s looks for the advantage of favor. If someone is over flattering watch out, they are looking for something from us. Think about all the schmoozers we have come across in our lives, they were called out by Jude two thousand years ago.
Jude 17 G1473 But you G1161 G27 beloved, G3403 remember G3588 the G4487 sayings! G3588 the ones G4280 being described beforehand G5259 by G3588 the G652 apostles G3588 G2962 of our Lord G1473 G* Jesus G5547 Christ.
Jude tells us to remember the sayings the apostles of Jesus Messiah foretold. The church was expected to memorize the sayings. They may have been fortunate enough at this time that someone had written them down but really the people were to remember the rhēma, “prophecies and the words” of the apostles.
Jude 18 G3754 For G3004 they said G1473 to you, G3754 that G1722 in G2078 the end G5550 of time G1510.8.6 there will be G1703 mockers G2596 [2according to G3588 3their own G1438 G1939 4desires G4198 1going] G3588 of the G763 impious deeds.
He now reminds us of what was said. There would be in the last season empaiktēs “mockers, deriders, or false teachers”. They will be going in downward epithumia “longings, yearnings, desires, forbidden lusts”, in their asebeia “ungodliness, profaneness, wickedness”. Why are these people going to church and to the church potlucks? They love to cause the innocent to fall. If they can entice a Christian to sin they feel victorious, which makes their sexual longings seem more exciting.
Jude 19 G1473 These G1510.2.6 are G3588 the ones G592 separating bounds, G5591 physical, G4151 [3spirit G3361 1not G2192 2having].
These are the ones who separate or divide the carnal, not having spirit. They size people up according to their looks, they pour on the charm, and they divide the innocent away from the sheepfold. The impious simply deal in the carnal, they divide everything according to the natural or carnal thoughts, they do not have the indwelling Holy Spirit to guide them. We are the ones who have the Holy Spirit therefore we should be discerning. We have to be sharp, confront the impious carnal schmoozers and make the young and innocent aware of their schemes.
Jude 20 G1473 But you, G1161 G27 beloved, G3588 [3 in G39 4your most holy G1473 G4102 5belief G2026 1building up G1438 2yourselves], G1722 [2in G4151 4spirit G39 3holy G4336 1praying].
Jude calls us “loved” and reminds us to build upon a foundation of our holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. We are to pray in the Holy Spirit, pray in our prayer language, to build upon our foundation of holy faith.

The stronger our foundation becomes the harder it will be for the impious ones to get into our churches. Their cheap grace and unclean salvation will be spotted immediately.
Jude 21 G1438 [2yourselves G1722 3in G26 4love G2316 5of God G5083 1keep]! G4327 waiting for G3588 the G1656 mercy G3588 G2962 of our Lord G1473 G* Jesus G5547 Christ, G1519 unto G2222 life G166 eternal.
Keeping ourselves in the love of God and waiting for the mercy of Yahweh Jesus Messiah into eternal life, means we keep our eyes on Jesus calling us up. We are heading to eternal life whether we live or die. The impious ones will not have eternal life, but instead death. It is Jesus’ mercy or compassion to harpazo us, from paradise or from the earth, before the tribulation.
Jude 22 G2532 And G3739 indeed on some G3303 G1653 show mercy, G1252 scrutinizing!
Jude then says: “and this truly show mercy separate thoroughly”. We can show mercy on those who have been taught incorrectly. We can teach them that grace does not give anyone permission to sin. We can teach them that salvation is not speaking some magic words but a confession and heart commitment to the Messiah. But this is where we separate thoroughly between the innocent incorrect ones and the intentionally impious ones.
Jude 23 G3739 And some G1161 G1722 with G5401 fear, G4982 deliver G1537 from G3588 the G4442 fire G726 by seizing! G3404 Detesting G2532 even G3588 the G575 [3by G3588 4the G4561 5flesh G4696 2being stained G5509 1inner garment].
“But that in fear save from out of the fire harpazō seizing, hate and the away from the flesh undergarment stained”.
Jude seems to say that in fear we are to seize people from out of hell. We are to hate the stained undergarments, implying that people who are lascivious and pursue sexual perversion have stained undergarments from their flesh. We can understand that as they had no indoor washing machines or laundromats on every corner. They had to clean their underwear in the river with everyone else. Therefore they wore their stained underwear until they went to the river to clean their clothes. Yet in fear we are to seize them out of hell.
Jude implies that the ones we are to seize from hell will be dirty or unclean, but to discern them and show them mercy.
Jude 24 G3588 But to him G1161 G1410 being able G5442 to keep G1473 them G679 steady, G2532 and G2476 to stand them G2714 in front G3588 G1391 of his glory G1473 G299 unblemished G1722 in G20 exultation,
25 G3441 to the only G4680 wise G2316 God, G4990 our deliverer, G1473 G1391 be glory G2532 and G3172 greatness, G2904 might G2532 and G1849 authority, G2532 even G3568 now G2532 and G1519 into G3956 all G3588 the G165 eons. G281 Amen.
“But the strong enough keep watch and ward those without stumbling or falling and make to stand before the face of the His glory blameless in great joy, only wise Elohim our savior glory and majesty strength and power and now and into all the ages, amen”.
For the believers who are strong enough they should guard the innocent so they can stand before the face of the Elohim and Jesus Messiah. What then are we to do when the impious come to visit and bring their cheap grace and unholy salvation? We discern them from the innocent ones. We clean up the innocent from their dirty underwear and we show the impious the door. We do not give the impious the microphone. We have to protect the church. Remember how Jude starts out, his letter is for the sanctified who are guarded, protected, and called. The impious are not called, they are schmoozers looking to corrupt the innocent. However as Jude points out, the Elohim is perfectly capable of separating the saved from the unsaved. Jude is obviously writing a second letter and he is angry that the impious are coming into the church with cheap grace and unclean salvation. His letter gives us history and insight into the first century church. As an apostle and church planter Jude Thaddaeous wrote a letter that we should give full attention to in our lives today.
