No matter what people think about Jesus, he certainly changed the whole world. This time of year we have all made traditions of gift giving, special parties, concerts, performances, and overall generosity, with the underlying theme of Jesus coming to earth as a baby born in a manger. Because of these traditions everyone has heard of Jesus whether they worship him or not. Even though Jesus was not born on Christmas Day, we can celebrate his birth and make him known. The hinge point of Jesus’ life caused a shift in religious observance. The separation was an obvious division as to who believed on Him and who did not. Jesus was not born into the preferred religious organization in Judah because that religious order had been defiled, unclean, and unholy. Jesus was born into a holy order of people who believed on his coming and then received him as Lord. We can see that there was already a division, but the division became more prominent as some people from the ruling religious class believed on Him. Jesus said that he did not come to bring peace but a sword. This should alert us to the continued separations that we will experience until the day he calls us up.

As we looked at The House of Separation last week, those who moved to Damascus and started a community there, we can see that the reasons for separation are no different today. People fall, the leaders sin, the prophets sin, the holy places are defiled, and a holy remnant emerges to worship Yahweh. Why is this? It is all the god of this world’s efforts to keep people away from Yahweh Elohim, Jesus Messiah. The one side of Jesus’ sword is unrighteous unholy people, the other side of the sword is righteous holy people. Sometimes we have to separate ourselves, but at other times Yahweh has to do the separating.
Before Judah went into captivity Jeremiah was sounding alarms. Jeremiah’s warnings were for their time period but we can learn from them. When we read Jeremiah we should remember that the Masoretes altered the entire book of Jeremiah, changing chapters, moving entire sections, and hiding some of the things that Jeremiah said. This is due to the Masoretes aligning with the Pharisees and Levites, as opposed to the Assideans/Essenes/Nazarenes/Therapeutaes/Prophets/Zedeks/Zadok Priests. Therefore reading Jeremiah in a Septuagint version will be different and more accurate than reading it in the Masoretic Text, which was used for all of our modern translations.
Jer 10:18 (Brenton) For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will overthrow the inhabitants of this land with affliction, that thy plague may be discovered.
Jer 10:19 Alas for thy ruin! thy plague is grievous: and I said, Surely this is thy wound, and it has overtaken thee.
Jer 10:20 Thy tabernacle is in a ruinous state, it has perished; and all thy curtains have been torn asunder: my children and my cattle are no more: there is no more any place for my tabernacle, nor place for my curtains.
Jer 10:21 For the shepherds have become foolish, and have not sought the Lord; therefore the whole pasture has failed, and the sheep have been scattered.
Jer 10:22 Behold, there comes a sound of a noise, and a great earthquake from the land of the north, to make the cities of Juda a desolation, and a resting-place for ostriches.
If we remember our history, after the kingdom split the temple was defiled for over four hundred years. Passovers were not regular celebrations. Samuel held a passover, Hezekiah held a passover, and Josiah held a passover. Hezekiah and Josiah had spent a considerable amount of time trying to cleanse the nation only to have it revert back into idolatry and witchcraft after the passover. At this point in time the kings were vassals to Egypt and then Babylon. The first captivity was of the young men in the kings household which included Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, who among others were brought to Babylon and castrated. Jeremiah is writing a warning from Yahweh.

Jer 23:1 (Brenton) Woe to the shepherds that destroy and scatter the sheep of their pasture!
Jer 23:2 Therefore thus saith the Lord against them that tend my people; Ye have scattered my sheep, and driven them out, and ye have not visited them: behold, I will take vengeance upon you according to your evil practices.
Jer 23:3 And I will gather in the remnant of my people in every land, whither I have driven them out, and will set them in their pasture; and they shall increase and be multiplied.
Jer 23:4 And I will raise up shepherds to them, who shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be alarmed, saith the Lord.
Jer 23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch, and a king shall reign and understand, and shall execute judgment and righteousness on the earth.
Jer 23:6 In his days both Juda shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell securely: and this is his name, which the Lord shall call him, Josedec among the prophets.
Jer 23:7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when they shall no more say, The Lord lives, who brought up the house of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
Jer 23:8 but The Lord lives, who has gathered the whole seed of Israel from the north land, and from all the countries whither he had driven them out, and has restored them into their own land.
Josedec is a name that means “Jehovah-justified”, or “Jehovah is righteous”. It is translated ιωσεδεκ, yosedek, Josedek, iosedec, Jehozadak. A man named Jehozadak became a captive in Babylon (which had not happened yet at the time of Jeremiah’s writing) and is the father of Joshua the future high priest. But Jeremiah is pointing to someone else. The person he is speaking of is the righteous branch from the line of David. He is speaking of the Messiah, who comes in the order of Melchizedek, (zedek/zadok, righteousness). The Messiah will be called Jehozadak, “Jehovah-righteous”, or “Lord of righteousness”.
The remnant was preserved in Babylon because those were the ones that mourned for the temple. As Ezekiel told us that the rest of the people were killed by Babylon in the third captivity into Babylon. Then Jesus the righteous branch came into the world and a remnant believed. Jesus Messiah will come again gathering his seed from all nations and from the ends of heaven to restore the remnant into Israel during the millennial kingdom. We have to keep in mind, Jesus is not bringing the unrighteous, and unholy, but the holy righteous people who separated themselves or were separated out, to live in Israel during His reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. This is why Satanas is directing the shepherds to destroy and scatter the sheep. Satanas hopes to destroy the remnant so that Jesus will not have a holy remnant.
Jer 23:9 (Brenton) My heart is broken within me; all my bones are shaken: I am become as a broken-down man, and as a man overcome with wine, because of the Lord, and because of the excellence of his glory.
Jer 23:10 For because of these things the land mourns; the pastures of the wilderness are dried up; and their course is become evil, and so also their strength.
Jer 23:11 For priest and prophet are defiled; and I have seen their iniquities in my house.
Jer 23:12 Therefore let their way be to them slippery and dark: and they shall be tripped up and fall in it: for I will bring evils upon them, in the year of their visitation.
Jer 23:13 And in the prophets of Samaria I have seen lawless deeds; they prophesied by Baal, and led my people Israel astray.
Jer 23:14 Also in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen horrible things: as they committed adultery, and walked in lies, and strengthened the hands of many, that they should not return each from his evil way: they are all become to me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrha.
Jer 23:15 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will feed them with pain, and give them bitter water to drink: for from the prophets of Jerusalem has defilement gone forth into all the land.
Jer 23:16 Thus saith the Lord Almighty, Hearken not to the words of the prophets: for they frame a vain vision for themselves; they speak from their own heart, and not from the mouth of the Lord.
Jer 23:17 They say to them that reject the word of the Lord, There shall be peace to you; and to all that walk after their own lusts, and to everyone that walks in the error of his heart, they have said, No evil shall come upon thee.
Jeremiah called out the false prophets continually but the people would not listen, they liked the sweet easy words of the false prophets. This is why Yahweh sent the remnant into captivity and killed the unrighteous. It is as Jude told us, the Elohim knows how to save the righteous and destroy the unrighteous.

Jer 25:7 (Brenton) But ye hearkened not to me.
Jer 25:8 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Since ye believed not my words,
Jer 25:9 behold I will send and take a family from the north, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants of it, and against all the nations round about it, and I will make them utterly waste, and make them a desolation, and a hissing, and an everlasting reproach.
Jer 25:10 And I will destroy from among them the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the scent of ointment, and the light of a candle.
Jer 25:11 And all the land shall be a desolation; and they shall serve among the Gentiles seventy years.
Jer 25:12 And when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will take vengeance on that nation, and will make them a perpetual desolation.
Jer 25:13 And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have spoken against it, even all things that are written in this book.
The people who were spared were sent into Babylon for seventy years. Remember that the Exodus generation wandered in the wilderness for forty years due to the war fighters not wanting to overtake Canaan. That was only one generation where their children had to wander, bearing the sins of those men, and then they could enter into the land. At this time, Yahweh is calling almost two generations to live and die in captivity, and then their heirs can return. This is a further separation from the previous generations. Ezekiel tells us that in our day we are not responsible for the sins of our fathers any longer. Ezekiel 18.

As Yahweh points out, the returning generation from captivity will not know the way to Sion but they will be seeking Yahweh Elohim.
Jer 27:4 In those days, and at that time, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Juda together; they shall proceed, weeping as they go, seeking the Lord their God.
Jer 27:5 They shall ask the way till they come to Sion, for that way shall they set their face; and they shall come and flee for refuge to the Lord their God; for the everlasting covenant shall not be forgotten.
Jer 27:6 My people have been lost sheep: their shepherds thrust them out, they caused them to wander on the mountains: they went from mountain to hill, they forgot their resting-place.
Jer 27:7 All that found them consumed them: their enemies said, Let us not leave them alone, because they have sinned against the Lord: he that gathered their fathers had a pasture of righteousness.
Jer 27:8 Flee ye out of the midst of Babylon, and from the land of the Chaldeans, and go forth, and be as serpents before sleep.
Jer 27:9 For, behold, I stir up against Babylon the gatherings of nations out of the land of the north; and they shall set themselves in array against her: thence shall she be taken, as the dart of an expert warrior shall not return empty.
Jer 27:10 And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied.
Yahweh points to the shepherds not taking care of the sheep. He continues to use the idea of religious leaders and shepherds to help guide the people. When the shepherds sin, and the prophets and priests sin, the people sin as well. Seventy years of captivity in Babylon made the people long for Judah, but as we know from the Damascus Document, when they returned and things got easy, and the people prospered, they lost their spiritual understanding. From that time of captivity, Israel had not been her own nation but ruled by heathen nations until its final abomination and desolation by the Romans in 70 AD. It is such a sad story for a nation that was honored by Yahweh to teach the world about Him, due to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob’s, relationship with Yahweh Elohim. But the whole world has heard of Israel and Jesus Messiah, whether the Israelites followed Yahweh or not, they were the focus of Yahweh’s story.
Jesus tells us about the good shepherd and the hireling. Jesus tells us that some false shepherds do not go through the door but they climb up a different way.
Jhn 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
Jesus is the door, he tells us this in verse 7 and 9. There are shepherds that are supposed to be entering the sheepfold as leaders through Jesus, but in some way they do not go through Jesus. Climbing implies they are doing it in their own strength, in their own way. Did they go through a University, a Bible College, a religious leader, or an elder board to achieve a position over the people? Maybe Jesus did not appoint them. There are many ways to become a leader of sheep but those who do not go through Jesus are thieves and robbers.

Many people know the voice of Jesus. What might Jesus lead us to do? Would he lead us to separate ourselves and follow him? What if Jesus does the separating with a sword? Jesus tells us that he will take away churches candlesticks.

Jhn 10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
Jhn 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Staying in a church without its candlestick for the sake of religious observance is exactly what the people did during the Maccabean era when the temple was defiled. Some people sided with the Pharisees because they had some connection to them, and felt that religious service was better than listening to the Holy Spirit. Jesus did not come from a Pharisaical line, he came from an Assidean line, he was a Nazarene. It would have been a defilement for Jesus to come from a Pharisaical family.
Jesus told us that anyone who wants to be a shepherd of His people has to go through Him. The Pharisees did not go through Him. They appointed themselves as shepherds or religious rulers, over the people. Jesus just called anyone who does not go through Him a thief and a robber. While Satanas is a thief, he is not who Jesus is speaking of. Jesus is speaking of the religious rulers leading people who did not go through Him. Those thieves come to steal, kill, and destroy.
Jhn 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The thief is the false shepherd who climbed into the sheepfold himself. The thief came to prosper himself, while Jesus came to give us an abundant life.
Jhn 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Jhn 10:12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
The shepherds who go through Jesus see the wolf coming and protect the people. The false religious leaders let the people get hurt by the wolf. The false religious leaders are no more than hired help. Hired help do not care if the sheep are scattered, they are concerned that they themselves are not hurt.
How many church scandals have caused the people to be scattered? We can then see who the hirelings are, the ones who are thieves and robbers, and who the shepherds are who went through Jesus. In any event, separation is good because it is the refining of holiness. It is the way a remnant rises up.
This is a cyclical pattern. Every church group or organization goes through refining. Sometimes it is to the benefit of the organization and sometimes it is to the detriment of the organization. This is nothing new. Jesus told us that Satanas’ evil people would infiltrate the church. Not everyone sinning in a church is a minister of Satanas, sometimes people have moral failings. However many ministers of Satanas enter into a church and cause people to have moral failings. They are usually lurking in the shadows, making excuses as to why certain sins are acceptable.
Out of seven churches Jesus points out that four had been infiltrated with false shepherds.
Smyrna
Rev 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
Rev 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
The Jews in Smyrna are from the synagogue of Satanas. The Jews were/are persecuting everyone. If one rejects the Messiah, and attempts to make others renounce Jesus as Messiah and Savior, they technically are working for Satanas. They are not working for Yahweh Elohim. The Essenes/Nazarenes/Therapeutaes/Assideans/Zedek’s/Zadok Priests all believed on Jesus as Yahweh and Messiah. Who didn’t believe Jesus was the Messiah? The Pharisees, the Levitical priests, and temple scribes. If then those people hunt Christians, as the apostle Paul did, they are working for Satanas and worshipping him.
In the first century the Jews entered churches, not only as obstinate anti-Christians, but as undercover Christian converts attempting to spy out people’s liberty in Christ, Galatians 2:4. That is how much they hated the Messiah and Christians.

Pergamum
Rev 2:13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
Rev 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
There are three things here. Satan’s throne, doctrines of Balaam, and the doctrines of the Nicolaitans. There were people in the community openly practicing witchcraft and magic arts, or Satanism. Then there were people who were skilled at manipulating people in the Pergamum church. They did what Balaam did, they put people in situations so that they would sin. Manipulation is witchcraft. The doctrine of the Nicolaitans is simply making the excuse for sin. Sin overcomes people, and at first one may feel convicted by the Holy Spirit, but the doctrine of the Nicolaitans is excusing sin, or grace is a license for sin. Assuming they are always forgiven, religious leaders excuse their own sins and sometimes entice others into their sins. Have we ever heard a religious leader tell someone they work so hard for the Lord, and they have needs, and their heart is right, but their spouse is in another city, etc. How about an entire ministry that promotes polygamy, plural marriages, or mistresses?
Pergamum had the spiritual attacks and warfare, the religious leaders tempting people to sin, and the religious leaders excusing of sins. Not eating things sacrificed to idols was a dividing line. With the Satanists making sacrifices down the street the people would not be able to go out to public gatherings and eat. The food would be spiritually cursed, but it would also not be butchered in a kosher way, allowing toxins to poison the flesh as the animal was being sacrificed, not butchered. The Nicolaitans were taking a spiritual authority over people, excusing the practice of eating sacrificed meats, as well as other practices of fornication, adultery, and idolatry. Jesus hates these false shepherds.
Thyatira
Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
Thyatira allowed a women who was a pseudo prophetess to teach and seduce the congregation. A “Jezebel” is a manipulator, as the original Jezebel manipulated a situation to take over Naboth’s vineyard for Ahab. This pseudo-prophetess also led people into eating things sacrificed to idols. Again, it is not the idea of clean or unclean animals, it is how the animal was butchered and if the people were cursing the meat.
Philadelphia
Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
Here are people claiming to be Jews who are of the synagogue of Satanas. They know that the only reason to go into the church in Philadelphia is to overthrow the faith of the believers. They are not there to become saved and spirit filled. Today we have a similar situation where people start ministries and advocate for people to follow the law, claiming they are saved but they must adhere to all the laws and precepts of the Torah. They portray themselves to be more knowledgable and chosen by God but they continue to add rules to our salvation. Pretty soon people listen because they do not think they are saved unless they do all these extra things. They climbed up a different way into the sheepfold and now are thieves and robbers of the flock. They say that they are Jews but they are not. Hirelings. False shepherds.

The false shepherd doesn’t really care who is right with Jesus and who is not, they care about people making them their leader. Whether it is for money or power, it is ultimately to direct people away from Jesus. And why is that important? They are doing the will of their father, diablos, John 8:44.

Knowing that false shepherds have entered the sheepfold, we should be extra cautious and willing to separate from any group when the Holy Spirit tells us to. Just like Jeremiah calling out the false shepherds, the false prophets, and the corrupt Levitical priests, when the wolf comes, the hireling leaves, and the sheep are scattered.
Jhn 10:13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
Jhn 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
Jhn 10:15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Jhn 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
Jesus tells the disciples, the Pharisees, and the Assideans, there are other sheep that will come into the sheepfold. Jesus is telling them to look beyond themselves. The entire purpose of Jesus coming was to bring people to himself. Yet there is a regular separating and refining and a remnant that rises up, until there is another separating, refining, and another remnant.
Jesus changed the world so that at this time of year we focus on Him. Ezra had gone to Israel but the people didn’t want to hear about the commandments of the Lord. Ezra then wrote this prophecy to the non-Jews. 2 Ezra was a well read book in the first century, and this is what they knew and understood about what would take place when the Messiah would come.
2Es 2:33 I Esdras received a charge of the Lord upon the mount Oreb, that I should go unto Israel; but when I came unto them, they set me at nought, and despised the commandment of the Lord.
2Es 2:34 And therefore I say unto you, O ye heathen, that hear and understand, look for your Shepherd, he shall give you everlasting rest; for he is nigh at hand, that shall come in the end of the world.
Jesus just told us that there were other sheep, Ezra was already talking to other sheep because the Jews were rejecting Yahweh Elohim before the Messiah came. Yet to the heathen, the rewards for believing are the same. It does not matter what nationality people are from, or when they came to know Yahweh.
2Es 2:35 Be ready to the reward of the kingdom, for the everlasting light shall shine upon you for evermore.
2Es 2:36 Flee the shadow of this world, receive the joyfulness of your glory: I testify my Saviour openly.
2Es 2:37 O receive the gift that is given you, and be glad, giving thanks unto him that hath led you to the heavenly kingdom.

There is a special feast coming for those among the remnant.

Before Jesus came, the people were aware of the things that are still future.
2Es 2:39 Which are departed from the shadow of the world, and have received glorious garments of the Lord.
2Es 2:40 Take thy number, O Sion, and shut up those of thine that are clothed in white, which have fulfilled the law of the Lord.
We are given white garments which represent the righteousness of the saints.

Ezra says there would be a number. Paul tells us there is a number. There is a number of people from all nations that must come to the Messiah. These are the “other sheep not of this fold”.

2Es 2:48 Then the angel said unto me, Go thy way, and tell my people what manner of things, and how great wonders of the Lord thy God, thou hast seen.
This is the reason Jesus changed the world. He changed our destiny if we want to accept Him as Lord and Savior. Jesus is the reason there is regular separation and a remnant. Every time Satanas sends his false shepherds into the sheepfold there will be a time of separation unless there is unity to kick the false shepherds out. Jesus the Good Shepherd knows who he let into the sheepfold.
In an interesting twist, the night Jesus was born an angel came to literal shepherds to tell them what had taken place in Bethlehem.

The angel says the Deliverer Messiah Yahweh was born in the city of David. There was no question as to his title, the angel announced it. The Messiah Yahweh is born. Next the shepherds see the military angels praising and singing to the Elohim.

The angel came to shepherds. What did they do? They went to Bethlehem to investigate.

When the shepherds got to the stable, they told everyone what the angel said and what they saw. The people there hid theses things in their heart. The whole nation should have been expecting the Messiah but the religious leaders did not believe the Messiah would come so they did not prepare the people. We know who was expecting the Messiah, the Assideans, Essenes, Nazarenes, Therapeutaes, the Damascus Community, the Zedek’s, the Zadok priest, and prophets, after the order of Melchizedek, as well as the Eastern Magi.

The shepherds left praising and glorifying the Elohim for what had just transpired. The true shepherds were visited and told while the religious leaders had no idea anything was going on. The shepherds were the ones who spread the news of the Messiah’s birth. A year and a half later the Magi came to give gifts to the Messiah in Nazareth. We still celebrate Epiphany today.

This time of year we can take every advantage to spread Jesus’ fame. We can openly listen to music about Him and his birth. We can enjoy this month of celebration for the sake of the lost coming to know Him. We can also keep in mind for the future, that the cycle of infiltration into churches by false shepherds, prophets, and priests, will continue, and the people will have to separate. It is the game play of the evil ones. While Satanas can distort the details of Jesus’ birth and mix pagan rituals into this season, we don’t have to play along, we simply stand fast on Jesus being the reason we celebrate in this season. Jesus: Deliverer, Messiah, King, Lord.
