Violence in Heaven; Poisonous Seeds; The Resplendent People; Good and Evil Growing Up Together

John the Baptist was preaching about the Kingdom of Heaven. He was telling people to repent. After John was imprisoned, Jesus started preaching about the Kingdom of Heaven. What we have looked at the last few weeks is the aspect of the Kingdom of Heaven from our time and our responsibility so that we are gathered into the Kingdom of Heaven. But the Kingdom of Heaven lasts longer than seven years. Jesus helps us understand that the Kingdom of Heaven will last into the next age. Jesus also tells us that we have to be forceful about entering heaven. But Jesus also told us of a six month period where the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence. Heaven still suffers violence because Jesus made us eligible to enter. Now it is our responsibility to understand different seeds and speak to the right ones so that they may enter. Jesus also told us that we have to grow up together with poisonous seeds for our benefit.

Mat 3:1  In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

Mat 3:2  And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mat 3:3  For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Repentance is key for all of us. We all need to repent, and remember to repent when we fall short. Repentance would get people into the Kingdom of Heaven. John was preparing the way of the Lord as Isaiah said.

Mat 4:12  Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

Mat 4:13  And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

Mat 4:14  That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

Mat 4:15  The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

Mat 4:16  The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

Mat 4:17  From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Isaiah prophesied the Messiah, and the Kingdom of Heaven. John was the one who came before the Messiah to make the paths straight, and people were listening to him. Then Jesus took up the call to the Kingdom of Heaven when John’s ministry was complete. Jesus tells us that within that six month time frame, the Kingdom of Heaven is suffering violence.

“But away from the day John the Baptizer until just now the Kingdom of Heaven violently forced and forceful people taken by force.”

971 βιάζω- rape

972 βίαιος- violent

973 βιαστής -rapist

In this context Jesus is not telling us that rapists will rape their way into heaven. Instead Jesus is saying that from the time of John the Baptist up to the day that he was speaking, the Kingdom of Heaven is violent and violent people seize it by force. What did he mean? John came to make known the Messiah and to preach that the Kingdom of Heaven was at hand. In that six month time period, people were fighting their way into heaven. A heavenly battle started.

Jesus set the dead captives free, taking them out of Abraham’s Bay into Paradise. The righteous people now wait for Jesus to call from the clouds when the dead in Christ shall rise first. To get to this point before Jesus died, people had to live holy and sinless. Although the temple was still in existence so that people could atone for their sin. The way into heaven was also blocked and barricaded by the devil and his demons. Jesus hadn’t taken back the keys to hell and death yet. People who were righteous and died went to Abraham’s Bay. However, once John made the announcement that Messiah was on His way, the devil ramped up the spiritual attacks on the Israelites. The angels had to war on behalf of men. The heavens became violent and the violent would take heaven by force.

Today, people have to set their mind and their heart after Yahweh, and not stray. We have to battle our mind, our will, and our emotions. We have to be intentional. We have to be focused. Jesus opened the way into heaven, but we have to war our way in.

Matthew 13:3 G2532 And G2980 he spoke G1473 to them G4183 many things G1722 in G3850 parables, G3004 saying, G2400 Behold, G1831 came forth G3588 the one G4687 sowing G3588   G4687 to sow.

παραβολή

parabolē par-ab-ol-ay' From G3846; a similitude (“parable”), that is, (symbolically) fictitious narrative (of common life conveying a moral), apoth gm or adage KJV Usage: comparison, figure, parable, proverb.

This is a similitude or a story that is similar to our regular lives. Jesus is explaining that a person who is sowing seeds is scattering them on the field and some end up in the wrong place.

Matthew 13:4 G2532 And G1722 in G3588   G4687 his sowing, G1473   G3739 some seed indeed G3303   G4098 fell G3844 by G3588 the G3598 way, G2532 and G2064 [3came G3588 1the G4071 2birds] G2532 and G2719 ate them. G1473

  5 G243 And others G1161   G4098 fell G1909 upon G3588 the G4075 rocky places, G3699 where G3756 it did not G2192 have G1093 [2earth G4183 1much]. G2532 And G2112 immediately G1816 it rose up, G1223 on account of G3588 the G3361 not G2192 having G899 a depth G1093 of earth.

  6 G2246 But the sun G1161   G393 having risen G2739 scorched it; G2532 and G1223 on account of G3588 the G3361 not G2192 having G4491 root G3583 it was dried up.

  7 G243 And others G1161   G4098 fell G1909 by G3588 the G173 thorn-bushes, G2532 and G305 [3ascended G3588 1the G173 2thorn-bushes] G2532 and G638 choked G1473 them.

The seeds that fell on the road were eaten by birds. The seeds that fell on the rocky areas sprung up, but because there was no dirt or not enough dirt, then the seedlings were scorched by the sun. Then there are some seeds that fell among thorn bushes, but the roots of the thorn bushes choked out the tiny seedlings.

Matthew 13:8 G243 And others G1161   G4098 fell G1909 upon G3588 the G1093 [2earth G3588   G2570 1good], G2532 and G1325 yielded G2590 fruit; G3588 some G3303 indeed G1540 a hundred, G3739 and some G1161   G1835 sixty, G3588 and some G1161   G5144 thirty.

The seeds that fell upon the beautiful earth grew and gave back fruits or vegetables. Some of the plants produced one hundred fruits, some of the plants produced sixty fruits, and some of the plants produced thirty fruits.

Matthew 13:9 G3588 The one G2192 having G3775 ears G191 to hear, G191 let him hear!

Jesus says that if you have ears to hear, listen. People would understand that some plants produce more than others. People would understand that there are some seeds that do not actually grow up, but die one way or another. The idea is that Jesus wants people to know that they can be a productive seed or a nonproductive seed. If we were listening to Jesus as he taught sitting in a boat on the shore, we would understand the basic story.

Matthew 13:10 G2532 And G4334 having come, G3588 the G3101 disciples G2036 said G1473 to him, G1302 Why G1722 in G3850 parables G2980 do you speak G1473 to them?

  11 G3588 And he G1161   G611 answering G2036 said G1473 to them G3754 that, G1473 To you G1325 has been given G1097 to know G3588 the G3466 mysteries G3588 of the G932 kingdom G3588 of the G3772 heavens, G1565 but to those G1161   G3756 it has not G1325 been given.

It was for the disciples to know the hidden secret mystery of the Kingdom of Heaven because they were ultimately the ones who would teach the rest of the world after Jesus died and rose up. It was also helpful for the disciples to understand that not everyone they spoke to would follow after Jesus, but instead some would have different experiences. This is what they, and we, are to guard against.

Matthew 13:12 G3748 For whosoever G1063   G2192 has, G1325 it shall be given G1473 to him, G2532 and G4052 he shall abound; G3748 but whosoever G1161   G3756 does not G2192 have, G2532 even G3739 what G2192 he has G142 shall be lifted G575 from G1473 him.

Jesus said basically this same thing about the talents. The one who buried his talent had it taken from him while the ones who increased their talents  gained more talents.

Matthew 13:13 G1223 On account of G3778 this G1722 [2in G3850 3parables G1473 1I speak to them]. G2980   G3754 For G991 seeing G3756 they do not G991 see, G2532 and G191 hearing G3756 they do not G191 hear, G3761 nor G4920 perceive.

  14 G2532 And G378 is fulfilled G1909 by G1473 them G3588 the G4394 prophecy G* of Isaiah, G3588 the one G3004 saying, G189 Hearing G191 you shall hear, G2532 and G3766.2 in no way G4920 should you perceive; G2532 and G991 seeing G991 you shall see, G2532 and G3766.2 in no way G1492 should you know.

Jesus spoke, but the people didn’t mentally comprehend or put together what he was saying.

Matthew 13:15 G3975 [5was thickened G1063 1For G3588 2the G2588 3heart G3588   G2992 4of this people], G3778   G2532 and G3588 with the G3775 ears G917 heavily G191 they heard, G2532 and G3588   G3788 [2of their eyes G1473   G2576 1they closed the eyelids]; G3379 lest at any time G1492 they should see G3588 with the G3788 eyes, G2532 and G3588 with the G3775 ears G191 should hear, G2532 and G3588 the G2588 heart G4920 should perceive, G2532 and G1994 they should turn, G2532 and G2390 I shall heal G1473 them.

If the people would have awakened from their stupor and turned around, Jesus would have cured them. However, the disciples were blessed because they did see and hear. Today there are people who see and hear Jesus and there are people who do not. Jesus will still heal people who turn their hearts toward him.

Matthew 13:16 G1473 [3your G1161 1But G3107 2blessed are] G3588   G3788 eyes, G3754 for G991 they see, G2532 and G3588   G3775 your ears, G1473   G3754 for G191 they hear.

  17 G281 For amen G1063   G3004 I say G1473 to you, G3754 that G4183 many G4396 prophets G2532 and G1342 just ones G1937 desired G1492 to behold G3739 what G991 you see, G2532 and G3756 beheld not; G1492   G2532 and G191 to hear G3739 what G191 you hear, G2532 and G3756 heard not. G191

What did the prophets want to see? The Messiah. What did the just ones want to hear? The mysteries that Jesus spoke. Many people of times past wanted to live during the time of the Messiah. We think that way today. We think “boy if I could have lived when Jesus was alive I would have believed and followed him”. Maybe we would have, but then again, maybe not.

From the perspective of the Israelites, we understand the struggles that they were having during this time. When they went into captivity for seventy years many didn’t come out of captivity and return to Jerusalem. Ezra and Nehemiah rebuilt and reestablished the temple, but the Israelites were not in control of their own country. First it was Assyria, then Greece, then Rome. They had a few uprisings, but at this time it seemed that the people were told to walk on eggshells so that the Romans wouldn’t disperse them. Meanwhile, some Israelites had already left due to the defilement in the temple priesthood, moving to Damascus to establish a community there. The people were in fear of the Pharisees, the Sadducees, and the priesthood, as well as the Romans. Most religious leaders believed the Messiah was not coming, even though they supposedly believed the scriptures and prophecies. The devil had inspired many people to rise up and pretend to be the Messiah, but the only one who fulfilled the biggest requirement of opening blind eyes was Jesus. The people were afraid, and their fear kept them from being good seed.

Matthew 13:18 G1473 You G3767 then G191 hear G3588 the G3850 parable G3588 of the one G4687 sowing.

  19 G3956 Every one G191 hearing G3588 the G3056 word G3588 of the G932 kingdom, G2532 and G3361 not G4920 perceiving, G2064 there comes G3588 the G4190 evil one, G2532 and G726 seizes by force G3588 the thing G4687 being sown G1722 in G3588   G2588 his heart. G1473   G3778 This G1510.2.3 is G3588 the one G3844 by G3588 the G3598 way G4687 being sown.

The one who does not perceive, or mentally put it together, the ponēros, evil, comes and harpazo’s the sowing in his heart. This is the seed that ended up on the road where the birds ate it. The person who hears a parable but does not consider it, or think on it until it makes sense, is like having a bird seize the seed from his heart. We should recognize that there will be people who will listen to the teachings of salvation and the Kingdom of Heaven but never quite get it into their heart. It is easily snatched away. These people simply don’t care.

Matthew 13:20 G3588 And the one G1161   G1909 by G3588 the G4075 rocky places G4687 being sown, G3778 this G1510.2.3 is G3588 the one G3588 [2the G3056 3word G191 1hearing], G2532 and G2117.1 straightway G3326 with G5479 joy G2983 receives G1473 it;

  21 G3756 [2he has no G2192   G1161 1but] G4491 root G1722 in G1438 himself, G235 but G4340 is temporary. G1510.2.3   G1096 [3taking place G1161 1And G2347 2affliction] G2228 or G1375 persecution G1223 on account of G3588 the G3056 word, G2117.1 straightway G4624 he is caused to stumble.

Some people seem to be excited when hearing about salvation and the Kingdom of Heaven, yet when they tell their friends and family they are pressured for believing something that their family does not. They are also persecuted, made fun of, mocked, or pushed around when they try and speak the logos to their family. The excitement for the logos is only temporary because they esteem their friends and family above themselves, and this is how they trip and fall. Fear of ridicule holds these people down.

Matthew 13:22 G3588 And the one G1161   G1519 in G3588 the G173 thorn-bushes G4687 being sown, G3778 this G1510.2.3 is G3588 the one G3588 [2the G3056 3word G191 1hearing], G2532 and G3588 the G3308 anxiety G3588   G165 of this eon, G3778   G2532 and G3588 the G539 deception G3588   G4149 of riches G4846 chokes out G3588 the G3056 word, G2532 and G175 [2unfruitful G1096 1he becomes].

The seed thrown by the thorn bushes actually hears the logos, but the worry, concern, and anxiety of this age, and the delusion and deception of wealth and material abundance chokes out the logos, and these people become profitless. They may still have the things of this world, but all of it is profitless or worthless because those material possessions do not get one into heaven. The delusions of this world are like thorn bushes or spiny plants. It is anxiety and concern that keeps these people from getting the logos into their heart. Fear of failure holds these people back.

Isn’t it like the devil to try and keep people from perceiving the logos, or to have others mock them for being excited about the logos, or to wave a carrot in front of them to distract them from the logos? It sure is.

Matthew 13:23 G3588 But the one G1161   G1909 [2upon G3588 3the G1093 5earth G3588   G2570 4good G4687 1being sown], G3778 this G1510.2.3 is G3588 the one G3588 [2the G3056 3word G191 1hearing], G2532 and G4920 perceiving; G3739 who G1211 indeed G2592 bears fruit, G2532 and G4160 produces G3739 some G3303 indeed G1540 a hundred, G3588 and some G1161   G1835 sixty, G3739 and some G1161   G5144 thirty.

The people who hear and perceive the logos are actually fertile, they make more of what they are. Sometimes that is as specific as someone who is a teacher makes others into teachers, while some who are prophetic make others who are prophetic, and those who are evangelists make others into evangelists. But generally making disciples is what is done. Some reproduce or manufacture disciples at a rate of one hundred times, some make disciples at sixty times, and some at thirty times. One of the keys to this understanding of the one hundred, sixty, or thirty, is knowing the seed. If people waste their time on seed thrown on the road, rather than working with seed on the good ground, they will have less of a harvest.

Keeping with the theme of planting, Jesus tells them another parable about the Kingdom of Heaven. This time however he is not simply talking about the gathering of the saints to heaven before the tribulation, he is talking about the New Heavens, as the Kingdom of Heaven lasts into the next age.

Matthew 13:24 G243 Another G3850 parable G3908 he pointed out G1473 to them, G3004 saying, G3666 [5is like G3588 1The G932 2kingdom G3588 3of the G3772 4heavens] G444 a man G4687 sowing G2570 good G4690 seed G1722 in G3588   G68 his field. G1473

This time the man sowed seeds in good dirt only.

Matthew 13:25 G1722 And during G1161   G3588 the G2518 sleeping G3588 of the G444 men, G2064 [3came G1473 1his G3588   G2190 2enemy] G2532 and G4687 sowed G2215 tares G303.1 in the midst G3588 of the G4621 grain, G2532 and G565 went forth.

Imagine working to plant seeds, then going to bed and not knowing that someone went into your field and tampered with it. The hostile enemy came when everyone was sleeping and scattered tares. The tare is also known as darnel, or false grain. It resembles wheat but does not produce the golden grain but black grain. Darnel is poisonous. The comparison is between good grain and poison.

Matthew 13:26 G3753 And when G1161   G985 [3burst forth G3588 1the G5528 2blade], G2532 and G2590 [2fruit G4160 1produced], G5119 then G5316 appeared G2532 also G3588 the G2215 tares.

Both wheat and tares look the same until the grain is produced, that is when there is a visible difference between the good grain and the poison. This takes a period of time.

Matthew 13:27 G4334 And coming forward, G1161   G3588 the G1401 manservants G3588 of the G3617 master of the house G2036 said G1473 to him, G2962 O Master, G3780 was it not G2570 good G4690 seed G4687 you sowed G1722 in G3588   G4674 your G68 field? G4159 from where G3767 then G2192 have G3588 the G2215 tares?

The servants of the master are the first to notice.

Matthew 13:28 G3588 And he G1161   G5346 said G1473 to them, G2190 an enemy, G444 a man G3778 did this. G4160   G3588 And the G1161   G1401 manservants G2036 said G1473 to him, G2309 Do you want G3767 then G565 having gone forth G4816 we gather G1473 them?

  29 G3588 And he G1161   G5346 said, G3756 No, G3379 lest G4816 gathering G3588 the G2215 tares G1610 you should root out G260 together G1473 with them G3588 the G4621 grain.

On the surface it seems like the solution would be to pull out the poisonous plants, but because the roots grew together next to each other, it would disturb the good wheat. If you have ever tried to pull grass out of a planter, it is virtually the same thing. The grass entangles the roots of the good plants. The solution is to let them grow together and when both are mature then separate them at the harvest.

Matthew 13:30 G863 Allow G4885 [2to grow together G297 1both] G3360 until G3588 the G2326 harvest! G2532 And G1722 at G3588 the G2540 time G3588 of the G2326 harvest G2046 I will say G3588 to the G2327 harvesters, G4816 Gather together G4412 first G3588 the G2215 tares, G2532 and G1210 tie G1473 them G1519 into G1197 a bundle G4314 so as G3588   G2618 to incinerate G1473 them! G3588 but the G1161   G4621 grain G4863 you gather together G1519 unto G3588   G596 my storehouse! G1473

At the time of harvest they will gather the poison tares first and bind them into a bundle to burn in fire. Then the harvesters can gather the good grain and put it in the storehouse. What is Jesus explaining? He is explaining that there will be a time when the poison will be completely consumed by fire, but the good seed will be brought in to the storehouse.

Now Jesus will explain the parable of the tares.

Matthew 13:36 G5119 Then G863 dismissing G3588 the G3793 multitudes, G2064 [2went G1519 3into G3588 4the G3614 5house G3588   G* 1Jesus]. G2532 And G4334 came forward G1473 to him G3588   G3101 his disciples, G1473   G3004 saying, G5419 Expound G1473 to us G3588 the G3850 parable G3588 of the G2215 tares G3588 of the G68 field.

  37 G3588 And G1161   G611 answering G2036 he said G1473 to them, G3588 The one G4687 sowing G3588 the G2570 good G4690 seed G1510.2.3 is G3588 the G5207 son G3588   G444 of man;

  38 G3588 and the G1161   G68 field G1510.2.3 is G3588 the G2889 world; G3588 and the G1161   G2570 good G4690 seed, G3778 these G1510.2.6 are G3588 the G5207 sons G3588 of the G932 kingdom; G3588 and the G1161   G2215 tares G1510.2.6 are G3588 the G5207 sons G3588 of the G4190 wicked one;

  39 G3588 and the G1161   G2190 enemy, G3588 the one G4687 sowing G1473 them G1510.2.3 is G3588 the G1228 devil; G3588 and the G1161   G2326 harvest G4930 [2 the completion G3588 3of the G165 4age G1510.2.3 1is]; G3588 and the G1161   G2327 harvesters G32 are angels. G1510.2.6

Here we have it, the children of the Most High God are the good seed, the children of the devil are the poison seed. The angels are the workers in the field. The field itself is the end of the world. The completion of the age is the harvest. The age is complete at the end of the Millennial Kingdom.

Matthew 13:40 G5618 As G3767 then G4816 [3are collected together G3588 1the G2215 2tares G2532 4and G4442 6in fire G2618 5incinerated], G3779 so G1510.8.3 it will be G1722 in G3588 the G4930 completion G3588   G165 of this eon. G3778

The completion of this eon, age, is the end of the Millennial Kingdom, which is the eight thousandth year.

Matthew 13:41 G649 [4shall send forth G3588 1The G5207 2son G3588   G444 3of man] G3588   G32 his angels, G1473   G2532 and G4816 they shall gather together G1537 from G3588   G932 his kingdom G1473   G3956 all G3588 the ones G4625 causing offence, G2532 and G3588 the ones G4160 committing G3588   G458 lawlessness.

The people who put stumbling blocks in front of others are gathered up. The violators of laws are gathered up. They come out of His Millennial Kingdom. Isn’t it interesting that we see a very large number of people who enjoy sin and offending others? What do they think the Lord will say about their behavior?

Think about this the other way. The good plants would be disturbed if the bad plants were plucked up while they were growing. What does this tell us? Firstly that Jesus is more concerned about us so as not to harm our roots. It also tells us that we might be hurt, damaged, or offended, if we didn’t actually see the black grain in the poison wheat. We might think the poison wheat was just like us. We might think that there was nothing wrong with the tares. We might think that the Lord was mean for plucking the tares out of the field before the harvest. As it is today, many people don’t understand or see the black grains until the poison tares are mature. Many people do not understand that there are groups and organizations posing as political fronts but are satanic in nature. They seem like nice people, but they are poison tares.

 Matthew 13:42 G2532 And G906 they shall throw G1473 them G1519 into G3588 the G2575 furnace G3588 of the G4442 fire; G1563 there, G1510.8.3 there shall be G3588 the G2805 weeping G2532 and G3588 the G1030 gnashing G3588 of the G3599 teeth.

The angels throw, ballō, the children of the devil into the oven of fire. What will they do? They will cry, or lament, and grind their teeth. Remember the children of the kingdom who were cast into the outer darkness, Matthew 8:12. Remember the man without the wedding garment who tried to sneak into the banquet, Matthew 22:13. Remember the evil servant who beat others and drank, Matthew 24:51. Remember the unprofitable servant who hid his talent, Matthew 25:30. The evil servants end up in the outer darkness, weeping and grinding their teeth, but the children of the devil end up in the oven of fire, also with weeping and grinding of teeth. The place of punishment is different for those who knew the Lord and for those who fought against the Lord. Both places are separated from the Lord.

What happens at the end of the Millennial age? When the white throne judgment occurs, the poisonous children of the devil will be thrown into the fire. Meanwhile, the good seed is producing and will continue to produce throughout the time of this age. The Kingdom of Heaven is like an enemy who poisoned the land with evil people, so that the holy people and the bad people have to grow up together. And while the holy people are making disciples, the evil people are hindering people. There will still be time for growing and harvesting during the Millennial Kingdom. After the white throne judgment, the evil seed will be burnt up and a new heaven and earth will come down. The good seed will enter into the new heaven and new earth.

Matthew 13:43 G5119 Then G3588 the G1342 just G1584 shall shine forth G5613 as G3588 the G2246 sun G1722 in G3588 the G932 kingdom G3588   G3962 of their father. G1473   G3588 The one G2192 having G3775 ears G191 to hear G191 let him hear!

After the children of the devil are thrown into the fire, the innocent holy people, dikaios, become resplendent, eklampō . Resplendent means to “be attractive and impressive though being richly colorful”. It also means “shining out” and “glitter”. Eklampō literally means ek “from out of” and lampō “to beam or radiate” also “brilliancy”. The dikaios eklampō, the innocent holy people radiate out like sunlight, hēlios. Jesus is saying that his people who are innocent and holy will radiate out like the sun in the Kingdom of the Father. This is when the New Heaven and New Earth come down.

As we see, heaven is a kingdom that will last a long time. The holy people can enter heaven at the gathering. Then there will be a new heaven. The foolish servants are cast out into the outer darkness and the evil seed of the devil are gathered and thrown into the oven of fire. Eternity is a long time and the Kingdom of Heaven is available to anyone who wants to fight to seize it. The six month period that John called people to repent, stirred up violence in the heavens. Jesus took back the keys to hell and death, but that means the heavens are still violent because now people can actually enter when Jesus calls from the clouds. There is a war above us and evil seed around us. Our opportunity is to speak to the seed and produce, even though there are evil seeds growing up with us.
