Possessing the Kingdom into the Eons; Daniel 7; the Last Beast; Maps

As we look at the Book of Revelation we see many things cloaked in mysteries; beasts with four faces, horns, blazing fires, etc. Studying the tribulation period noted in Revelation from an outside perspective using the Book of Daniel, helps us to gain a broader understanding of this time period.  Since we studied Revelation a few years back (2013) if we take those studies and combine them with further knowledge we will see a clearer picture of the things that seem like mysteries.

The Book of Daniel gives us a broad view of the events that will happen in the future during the tribulation time. To review some details about the Book of Daniel, we have chapters 2-7 written in Aramaic, while the rest of the book was written in Hebrew. But it is not clear if this was original to Daniel himself or this was from a copy that was scribed. Daniel was bi-lingual, he knew both languages and by the third century BCE the language spoken in Israel was northern Aramaic while the written language was Greek. This continued to be the trend well past Jesus’ time on earth. There are many Masoretic alterations in the Book of Daniel, which we have easily tracked, and can clearly see in the Septuagint. Considering that the rabbinical textual alterations occurred anywhere from 300 CE to 1000 CE, it is safe to say what we can’t always trust the modern Hebraic opinion of Daniel’s prophecies. We know that all written Biblical works as well as all other written documents were translated into Greek in 300 BCE and all originals were stored in the Library at Alexandria. As far as Aramaic texts are concerned, we have several choices, Eastern Aramaic, Western Aramaic, and Northern Aramaic. I have found the Northern Aramaic to be a great  text. One can read Daniel 7 here.

For our intents and purposes, we will look at sections of Daniel that take place during the tribulation. While the redeemed will have been harpazo’d on the day of redemption, we see the redeemed returning to take authority of the kingdom of their Lord and Christ. If we remember who the players are in the Book of Revelation, we can work backwards to understand Daniel and gain a general idea of who the future kings may be. As timelines go, prior to Revelation 4 the ekklesia is still on the earth. Subsequent to Revelation 4, the ekklesia is not on the earth, but in heaven watching the Lamb take the scrolls, and these saints are singing a new song, one that could not have ever been sung until the harpazo; a song about being redeemed and being made kings and priests.

Those left on the earth are the un-redeemed, the un-saved, who were not harpazo’d, snatched, and brought up to heaven. The two big players are Babylon, which is one world system, and the beast which is a different world system. Babylon has a hint of religion, the worship of certain idols but the Jews are involved in this system due to commerce. The Beast’s system is a reign based on religion, which enslaves people by force. Commerce is not a major factor in the beasts system until the rulers withhold basic necessities from those who refuse to worship this system and the anti-christ. The unholy trinity of the Beast (and his image)/the son of perdition, the False Prophet, and the Dragon/the satan, are the players who force their religion on the world. We know from Revelation that it is put in the beasts’ heart to kill Babylon (Revelation 17:16-18). During this entire time people will be martyred if they receive Christ as their savior and/or if they refuse to submit to the beast. The Jews are called out of Babylon (Revelation 18), so they do not partake in her plagues. After Babylon is killed, the beast goes out to make war with the Lamb and his saints (Revelation 17:14-15).

Now let’s take our Bob Ross two inch paint brush, and make some broad strokes in Daniel. The beasts and creatures are kingdoms which are in existence during the tribulation time. Mostly, these kingdoms are Middle Eastern, as the majority of the world population at this time will reside in the  mid-east.

Read the Book of Daniel in Victor Alexander’s Northern Aramaic for interesting detailed context. http://www.v-a.com/bible/supporters/daniel_7.html

Daniel 7:9. I then saw when the thrones were consecrated, and where the One of Ancient Days* sat, His clothes were like white snow, and the hair on his head was like pure wool, His throne was like flames of fire, and His wheels were like a raging fire.
10. A river of fire issued forth from before Him, thousands of thousands ministered to Him, and millions of millions stood before Him; whence He sat in judgment and the Scriptures were opened.
11. I saw how that creature was killed, how her body went to oblivion and was delivered into the fiery furnace.
12. And the rest of the creatures were relieved of their authority, their life was extended* for a season and a time.
13. I saw over the clouds of heaven someone like the son of human beings coming, and he arrived as of the Ancient Days,* and they brought the offerings before Him.* *
14. And to Him was given the authority, the honor and the kingdom, so that all the nations, motherlands and tongues should work for him; his authority is the everlasting* authority, [His authority] that shall never be relinquished* and His Kingdom shall never be destroyed.

We want to take note of verse 9 regarding wheels. The wheels, as we have studied were not literal wheels, but the Ophan or Ophanim, sons of God that transported the glory of God in Ezekiel. Wheels, in short, were the  only way to communicate “revolving”. As we see from Solomon’s Temple, the effigy of the Ophan in the temple as well as the descriptions in Ezekiel, the Ophan have eyes, foreheads, backs, arms, and they walk in a straight line or spin. Enoch explains these beings as well.

Daniel 7:9 G2334 I viewed G2193 until G3748 when G2362 thrones G5087 were set, G2532 and G3820 the old one G2250 of days G2521 sat down. G2532 And G3588   G1742 his garment G1473   G5616 was as G5510 snow -- G3022 white. G2532 And G3588 the G2359 hair G3588   G2776 of his head G1473   G5616 was as G2053 [2wool G2513 1pure]. G3588   G2362 His throne G1473   G5395 a flame G4442 of fire, G3588   G5164 its wheels G1473   G4442 as fire G5392.2 blazing

3820
παλαιός
palaios pal-ah-yos' From G3819; antique, that is, not recent, worn out
KJV Usage: old.

2250

5164
τροχός
trochos trokh-os' From G5143; a wheel (as a runner), that is, (figuratively) a circuit of physical effects KJV Usage: course.

The Ancient of Days is described just as Jesus is in Revelation 1:13-15. His throne is blazing fire with revolving beings also blazing fire. In our minds’ this seems a bit overwhelming but let’s understand Daniel’s vision. There is the Ancient Eternal one, and he is bright, very bright, as if looking at his image with the sun shining behind him. He is all white, and his throne is flashing like lightning. The Ophanim that spin are holding him up and they are flashing like lightning as well. Daniel probably could have used sunglasses. There are thousands ministering to Him, and tens of thousands present before Him. Compare this to Revelation 5:11; heaven seems like a crowded place.

Daniel 7:10 G4215 A river G4442 of fire G1670 drew G1607 exiting G1715 before G1473 him; G5507 a thousand G5505 thousands G3008 ministering G1473 to him; G2532 and G3463 ten thousand G3461 ten thousands G3936 were present G1715 before G1473 him. κριτήριον
kritērion kree-tay'-ree-on Neuter of a presumed derivative of G2923; a rule of judging (“criterion”), that is, (by implication) a tribunal KJV Usage: to judge, judgment (seat).

There is a judgment seat and books or papyrus are opened. When is this Judgement Seat taking place? The beginning of the millennial age, before the millennial kingdom on the Day of the Lord, Revelation19:19-ff. The beast and false prophet, two of the un-holy trinity, will be destroyed in the Lake of Fire.

Daniel 7:11 G2334 I viewed G5119 then G575 because of G5456 a voice G1473 of the G3056 [2words G1473   G3173 1great] G3739 which G3588   G2768 that horn G1565   G2980 spoke, G2193 until G337 [3was done away with G3588 1the G2342 2wild beast], G2532 and G622 destroyed, G2532 and G3588   G4983 its body G1473   G1325 was given G1519 unto G2740 burning G4442 fire.

2740 LSJ Gloss: καῦσις a burning
Dodson: καῦσις a burning up a burning up, being burned.
Thayer:
1) burning, burning up

καῦσις
kausis kow'-sis From G2545; burning (the act) KJV Usage: be burned.

Utterly destroyed in the Lake of Fire means that there is an ending for the beast and the false prophet. The dragon, aka the satan, will be around for a bit longer. Some of the other wild beast rulers lost their rulership and were granted life for a period of time. Where will they be alive? In Hades while they await final judgment before the white throne. The only one’s that are disposed of before the millennial kingdom are the beast and the false prophet. Those who have refused Jesus’ Lordship will reside in either death or hell for one thousand years. They will then be judged at the white throne judgment at the end of the millennial kingdom.

Daniel 7:12 G2532 And G3588 [3of the G3062 4rest G2342 5of the wild beasts G3179 6was changed over G3588 1the G746 2rule], G2532 and G3117.1 a duration G2222 of life G1325 was given G1473 to them G2193 until G5550 a time G2532 and G2540 a season.

For Synonyms see entry G5821

ζωή
zōē dzo-ay' From G2198; life (literally or figuratively) KJV Usage: life (-time).

On the Day of the Lord, the Lord Jesus will come with his saints, and after battling the beast will take rule and reign over the earth. The saints will rule with him. All those who rejected Jesus will await the white throne judgment at the end of the millennial kingdom.

Daniel 7:13.

Daniel 7:13 G2334 I viewed G1722 in G3705 a vision G3588 of the G3571 night, G2532 and G2400 behold, G3326 with G3588 the G3507 clouds G3588 of the G3772 heaven, G2532 and G5613 one as G5207 son G444 of man G2064 was coming. G1510.7.3   G2532 And G2193 [2unto G3588 3the G3820 4old one G3588   G2250 5of days G5348 1he came], G2532 and G1799 [2before G1473 3him G4374 1he was brought].

On the Day of the Lord, the apocalypse, and the epiphany, the son of man comes to rule on the earth. There is a slight difference in the Aramaic and the Greek translations here. But both are technically correct. The son of humans is brought offerings. We know that the Ethiopians will bring the ark of the covenant in the beginning of the millennial reign (Isaiah 18:7), and this seems more likely the case at this point in time. Remember the heirs of Jacob are gathered from all four corners of the heavens and earth to inhabit the land as well.

Daniel 7:14 G2532 And G1473 to him G1325 was given G3588 the G746 rule, G2532 and G3588 the G5092 honor, G2532 and G3588 the G932 kingdom; G2532 and G3956 all G3588 the G2992 peoples, G5443 tribes, G2532 and G1100 languages G1473 shall serve to him. G1398   G3588   G1849 His authority G1473   G1849 [2authority G166 1 is an eternal] G3748 which G3756 shall not G3928 pass away, G2532 and G3588   G932 his kingdom G1473   G3756 shall not G1311 be destroyed.

We know that Jesus’ kingdom will be without end and all people from every nation, all the goyim, will serve him. We know that those who have been redeemed by his blood will be a kingdom of priests, or kings and priests. We know that those who were martyred during the tribulation will also receive special honors and positions because they did not love their lives more than the Lord. We also know that after the millennial reign there will be a new heaven and a new earth, and the redeemed, the martyred, and all those who were found worthy and were written in the book of life will gain entrance.

Now one of the sons of God who was ministering to the Ancient of Days is going to explain to Daniel what he is seeing.

Daniel 7:17. He said to me, "Those four great creatures that you saw are four kings that shall rise from the world.*
18. "And the saints of the Most High shall receive* the kingdom, and they shall inherit the kingdom to the end of the universe, of all the universes forever."*

We see the explanation of the four beasts as kings with kingdoms. Do we know who these people are? Not yet. We can only determine these four great beasts once we can look back into the tribulation age. We could guess, but since these can’t be confirmed, speculations as to who they are aren’t very productive. Kingdoms and kings rise and fall all the time. The thing that determines these kingdoms is the word “great” or prefix “mega”. They are either large or they are powerful, or both. But if we look at the world population of those who call themselves Christians and then take a conservative count, the world will end up in chaos after the harpazo.

Christian map:

Muslim Map:

Jewish Map:

Look at these maps; what do we see? Who will be affected by the harpazo? Who will be on the earth after the harpazo? What nations will be strong nations? What nations will be weak nations? Isn’t this why the Bible’s end times prophecies are all in regards to the middle east? As long as the Christians are still on the earth, the middle east will not be great and strong. Remember all the silliness regarding the European Union being the beast? All those European nations will become insignificant. Remember all the allegations regarding Russia somehow being the region from the north?  Not quite. Kazakhstan seems to be the larger Muslim population in the north once the Christians are gone, but notice the map of the Jews. There are 2.4 billion Christians, 1.6 Billion Muslims, and 14 million Jews. Of the 14 million Jews, they are spread out over much the same area the Christians are. What happens to the Jews when the Christians are harpazo’d? Even if only 1.2 billion people are harpazo’d the earth will go into a chaotic spin of reorganized kingdoms.

Daniel says the four great wild beasts with four kingdoms will rise up on the earth.
Daniel 7:17 G3778 These, G3588 the G2342 [3wild beasts G3588   G3173 2great G3588   G5064 1four] -- G5064 four G932 kingdoms G450 shall rise up G1909 upon G3588 the G1093 earth,
  18 G3588 the ones G142 that shall be lifted away. G2532 And G3880 [3shall take to themselves G3588 4the G932 5kingdom G39 1holy ones G5310 2of the highest]; G2532 and G2722 they shall hold G1473 it G2193 unto G165 the eon, G2532 and G2193 unto G165 the eon G3588 of the G165 eons.

2722LSJ Gloss: κατέχω to hold fast
Dodson: κατέχω I hold fast, bind, restrain (a) I hold fast, bind, arrest, (b) I take possession of, lay hold of, (c) I hold back, detain, restrain, (d) I hold a ship, keep its head.
Thayer:
1) to hold back, detain, retain
1a) from going away
1b) to restrain, hinder (the course or progress of)
1b1) that which hinders, Antichrist from making his appearance
1b2) to check a ship's headway i.e. to hold or head the ship
1c) to hold fast, keep secure, keep firm possession of
2) to get possession of, take
2b) to possess

κατέχω
katechō kat-ekh'-o From G2596 and G2192; to hold down (fast), in various applications (literally or figuratively) KJV Usage: have, hold (fast), keep (in memory), let, X make toward, possess, retain, seize on, stay, take, withhold.

The holy ones, the saints of the Most High will take over the kingdom into the eon of eons. They will possess it, they will secure it, they will hold down the kingdom for ever and ever. Daniel is unsure of all of this and asks more questions.

Daniel 7:21. And I saw that horn do battle with the saints and was able to withstand their powers.
22. Until there comes the One of Ancient Days and He gives the judgment to the saints of the Highest One, and then the season will have arrived when the saints shall inherit the kingdom.

Notice that the horn prevails against the saints. We have to remember that as soon as the harpazo takes place the Jews will have recognized that they have been wrong about Jesus. Then when they see the son of perdition sit in the Holy of Holies and not die, they will again realize what time period they are in. As we recently studied, this son of perdition will put an end to the daily sacrifices (which we do not have going on at the present time) and tell everyone that he has forgiven their sins. This is why so many Jews and new believers are killed under the altar. They refuse to believe the son of perdition and receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, then they are killed.

Daniel 7:21 G2334 I viewed, G2532 and G3588   G2768 that horn G1473   G4160 made G4171 war G3326 with G3588 the G39 holy ones, G2532 and G2480 prevailed G4314 against G1473 them,
  22 G2193 until G3739 of which time G2064 [4came G3588 1the G3820 2old one G3588   G2250 3of days], G2532 and G3588   G2917 [2judgment G1325 1gave] G39 to holy ones G5310 of the highest. G2532 And G3588 the G2540 time G5348 came, G2532 and G3588 [4of the G932 5kingdom G2722 3took control G3588 1the G39 2holy ones]

The beast prevails until the Ancient of Days passes judgment, giving the saints of the most high the kingdom. The spiritual being talking to Daniel tells Daniel the fourth kingdom is the last kingdom that will devour and trample the earth. If we look at who will be on the earth at this time period, it will be a Middle Eastern kingdom.

Daniel 7:23. And this is what he told me, "The fourth creature is the fourth kingdom that will rule* the earth, which shall exceed all the kingdoms, and it shall devour all the earth, trample on it and crush it to bits.
24. "And the ten horns are the kings that shall rise from the ten kingdoms, and another shall rise after them and he shall exceed the former; however, three of the kings shall be humbled.”

This beast will speak against the Most High. This beast will mislead people, the image of the beast will mislead people. Remember what John says: “do the math, calculate the statistics and put it all together”.

Revelation 13:18  Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding calculate the rising up of the beast: for it is the rising up of a man; and his rising up is in the name of allah χ (double sword symbol)

This beast, the last beast, will attempt to change the seasons and the laws; the holy day seasons and the spiritual laws for remission of sins which include daily sacrifices. The Jews who had rejected Jesus will go back to ritual temple sacrifice until the last beast changes that.

Daniel 7:25. And he spoke words against the Most High and he betrayed the saints of the Most High, and he expected them to change the seasons and the Laws and place them into his hands for an eternity.*

Daniel 7:25 G2532 and G3056 words G4314 against G3588 the G5310 highest G2980 he shall speak, G2532 and G3588 the G39 holy ones G5310 of the highest G4105 he shall mislead, G2532 and G5282 shall be of the opinion G3588   G241.3 to change G2540 times G2532 and G3551 law. G2532 And G1325 it shall be granted G1722 in G5495 his hand G2193 until G2540 a time G2532 and G2540 times G2532 and G2255 half G2540 a time.

nomos nom'-os From a primary word νέμω nemō (to parcel out, especially food or grazing to animals); law (through the idea of prescriptive usage), generally (regulation), specifically (of Moses [including the volume]; also of the Gospel), or figuratively (a principle) KJV Usage: law.

This beast will cause people to wander. He betrays the Jews. How? This beast will enforce the covenant, so the Jews will be making daily sacrifices for atonement until halfway through the tribulation. Once he declares himself “god” by not dying in the Holy of Holies, he will change the holy seasons and laws for the rest of the three and one half years. Since the son of perdition considers himself the atonement for the Jews, the Jews logically don’t need to partake in the passover season or the atonement season because “their god” is now with them ruling on the earth. Some Jews might be fooled, but most will not be deceived. This is allowed for a period of time, approximately three and one half years.

Let’s remember that in our timeline, Jesus is coronated in Revelation 11 and the kingdoms are given over to him. Just before the coronation, at the time of the seven thunders, the satan will be thrown out of the heavens as he accuses us before the throne of God day and night. Once the satan’s dominion is removed, he goes out to make war with the people on earth. It sounds like the satan will be in a blinding rage. On the Day of the Lord, the satan will be chained in the bottomless pit for one thousand years.

The realm, the power, and the majesty or divinity of the rulers is given to the holy ones of the Most High. As Revelation 1 and Revelation 5 both attest, the redeemed are made kings and priests. The majesty and the divinity is given to the redeemed forever. All the sovereignties (arche) will serve and obey. That simply tells us that the sovereignties or rulers do not all serve and obey Jesus now. But at the time of His coronation things will begin to change. First the crowning when the kingdoms of the world become the kingdoms of our Lord and Christ, then the casting out of the satan from the heavens. The satan will go out to destroy and crush in pieces the whole earth, but he will not win.

Daniel 7:28. Until now, to the end* of this manifestation, I, Daniel, though my visions* frightened me and my countenance was perturbed,* I guarded this manifestation in my heart.

Daniel was scared. Daniel’s appearance morphed and his “edges moved apart” or his heart was torn. There was no television or movies in the days that Daniel lived. There were no newspapers or libraries, so the idea that this vision was so graphic and explicit as he saw the times of the end was overwhelming for him. We are desensitized to imagery as we see lots of movies and television shows each day. Daniel kept the vision in his heart. The good news is that we are told of the times of the end and the saints of the Most High overcome the beast to rule and reign with Him. We are to guard the prophecies and this is one prophetic vision that plainly helps us to understand the Book of Revelation. It does not matter what kingdoms are the one’s spoken of, and it does not matter who those evil rulers are. For all intents and purposes, in linear and chronological time these kingdoms will not develop, or rise up, until after the harpazo.

The story that the numbers tell us is that at least 50% of the people calling themselves Christians will be harpazo’d from the earth. The Americas as well as Europe will move into insignificance as the majority of people will be gone. This is important to understand because what we see today will change dramatically when the ekklesia becomes the episunagoge (the called out become the above congregation). We don’t need to attempt to determine the future beasts and kingdoms, but we do need to understand the order of the events so that we continue to guard the prophecies. The saints will possess the kingdom forever.
