Complete Heart; Judicial Verdicts; Keys; Fiery Missiles; Downward Heart; Psalms 7

As we look at the way that David prayed, we notice that he is very bold about asking to be judged. His words “judge me” show up several times as prayers. David’s heart, his inner life, was connected to Yahweh because he desired that relationship. David spent his youth as a shepherd which gave him time to develop his relationship with the Creator. But David wasn’t asking Yahweh for anything. He wasn’t asking Yahweh to do anything for him. We will see David and the Lord’s judgment closely intertwined, but not only in the past. Isaiah tells us that this judgment is for today and into the eons. Jesus has the keys to the house of David. Let’s look at David’s life and see what we can learn.

Saul was a terrible king. He did not obey Yahweh or the prophet Samuel. So Yahweh looked for someone who would do a better job. Notice what Samuel says to Saul.

1 Samuel 13:14 G2532 And G3568 now G3588   G932 your kingdom G1473   G3756 shall not G2476 stand G1473 with you. G2532 And G2212 the lord shall seek G2962   G1438 for himself G444 a man G2596 according to G3588   G2588 his heart. G1473   G2532 And G1781 the lord shall give charge G2962   G1473 to him G1519 for G758 ruler G1909 over G3588   G2992 his people, G1473   G3754 for G3756 you did not G5442 keep G3745 as many things as G1781 [3gave charge G1473 4to you G3588 1the G2962 2 lord].

Saul was told that he was going to lose his kingdom. Yahweh was going to seek for himself a man with a “downward heart”, meaning he was going to call a man who took the time to reach up and pull down Yahweh’s heart into his own inner life. The motion here is very important. We simply don’t dream about being “someone”, we reach up to Yahweh and learn first. The things that are important to Him, we put into our own heart. This is not a head or mind experience, it is a change of our inner being. Just like confessing Jesus as Lord, we believe in our heart that he rose on the third day. Once David did this, Yahweh was with him.

1 Samuel 18:12-16 (KJV)
12  And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul.
13  Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.
14  And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him
15  Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.
16  But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.

David journeyed in and out before the face of the people, meaning he walked among them. David didn’t isolate himself, he walked around the various tribes all the time. People realized that David was a regular man, not an elitist. If we remember, Saul came to hate David and tried to put him in a position where he would end up dead. Notice what Josephus records.

Antiquities of the Jews 6:10:2.  But David had God going along with him whithersoever he went, and accordingly he greatly prospered in his undertakings, and it was visible that he had mighty success, insomuch that Saul's daughter, who was still a virgin, fell in love with him; and her affection so far prevailed over her, that it could not be concealed, and her father became acquainted with it. Now Saul heard this gladly, as intending to make use of it for a snare against David, and he hoped that it would prove the cause of destruction and of hazard to him; so he told those that informed him of his daughter's affection, that he would willingly give David the virgin in marriage, and said, "I engage myself to marry my daughter to him if he will bring me six hundred heads of my enemies supposing that when a reward so ample was proposed to him, and when he should aim to get him great glory, by undertaking a thing so dangerous and incredible, he would immediately set about it, and so perish by the Philistines; and my designs about him will succeed finely to my mind, for I shall be freed from him, and get him slain, not by myself, but by another man." So he gave order to his servants to try how David would relish this proposal of marrying the damsel. Accordingly, they began to speak thus to him: That king Saul loved him, as well as did all the people, and that he was desirous of his affinity by the marriage of this damsel. To which he gave this answer:—"Seemeth it to you a light thing to be made the king's son-in-law? It does not seem so to me, especially when I am one of a family that is low, and without any glory or honor." Now when Saul was informed by his servants what answer David had made, he said,—"Tell him that I do not want any money nor dowry from him, which would be rather to set my daughter to sale than to give her in marriage; but I desire only such a son-in-law as hath in him fortitude, and all other kinds of virtue," of which he saw David was possessed, and that his desire was to receive of him, on account of his marrying his daughter, neither gold nor silver, nor that he should bring such wealth out of his father's house, but only some revenge on the Philistines, and indeed six hundred of their heads, than which a more desirable or a more glorious present could not be brought him, and that he had much rather obtain this, than any of the accustomed dowries for his daughter, viz. that she should be married to a man of that character, and to one who had a testimony as having conquered his enemies.
3.  When these words of Saul were brought to David, he was pleased with them, and supposed that Saul was really desirous of this affinity with him; so that without bearing to deliberate any longer, or casting about in his mind whether what was proposed was possible, or was difficult or not, he and his companions immediately set upon the enemy, and went about doing what was proposed as the condition of the marriage. Accordingly, because it was God who made all things easy and possible to David, he slew many [of the Philistines], and cut off the heads of six hundred of them, and came to the king, and by showing him these heads of the Philistines, required that he might have his daughter in marriage. Accordingly, Saul having no way of getting off his engagements, as thinking it a base thing either to seem a liar when he promised him this marriage, or to appear to have acted treacherously by him, in putting him upon what was in a manner impossible, in order to have him slain, he gave him his daughter in marriage: her name was Michal.
The Works of Flavius Josephus.

As recorded in Samuel.

1 Samuel 18:25 G2532 And G2036 Saul said, G*   G3592 Thus G2046 shall you say G3588   G* to David, G3756 [3does not G1014 4want G3588 1The G935 2king] G1475.2 a dowry, G237.1 but only G1540 a hundred G203 foreskins G246 of the Philistines, G1556 to avenge G1519 against G2190 the enemies G3588 of the G935 king. G2532 And G* Saul G3049 devised G1685 to put G3588   G* David G1519 into G3588 the G5495 hands G3588 of the G246 Philistines.

G2532 And G3756 [3were not fulfilled G4137   G3588 1the G2250 2days].
  27 G2532 And G450 David rose up G*   G2532 and G4198 went G1473 himself G2532 and G3588   G435 his men, G1473   G2532 and G3960 he struck G1722 among G3588 the G246 Philistines G1250 two hundred G435 men. G2532 And G5342 he brought G3588   G203 their foreskins, G1473   G2532 and G4137 fulfilled G1473 them G3588 to the G935 king; G2532 and G1918 he becomes allied by marriage G3588 to the G935 king; G2532 and G1325 [2gives G1473 3to him G* 1Saul] G3588   G* Michal G2364 his daughter G1473   G1519 for G1135 a wife.
  28 G2532 And G1492 Saul beheld G*   G2532 and G1097 knew G3754 that G2962 the Lord G3326 was with G* David. G2532 And G* Michal G3588   G2364 his daughter G2532 and G3956 all G* Israel G25 loved G1473 him.

We don’t know exactly how many foreskins or heads David and his men brought back to Saul, but David did what Saul asked and came back alive. Saul knew Yahweh was with David.

Yahweh was with David his whole life. Even though David made mistakes, and did stupid things, Yahweh was with David. Although Solomon had the Holy Spirit on him, the Spirit of Wisdom, he learned about demonic spirits and “other gods” and eventually called on those demonic spirits in addition to the Holy Spirit. Light and dark do not coexist. Light will consume the darkness unless we turn out the light. Solomon wanted something from the darkness and that made his heart incomplete.

1 Kings 11: 4 G2532 And G1096 it came to pass G1722 in G2540 a time G1094 of old age G* of Solomon, G3588   G1135 his wives G1473   G1578 turned aside G3588   G2588 his heart G1473   G3694 after G2316 other gods. G2087   G2532 And G3756 [2was not G1510.7.3   G3588   G2588 1his heart] G1473   G5046 perfect G3326 with G3588 the G2962 LORD G3588   G2316 his God, G1473   G2531 as was G3588 the G2588 heart G* of David G3588   G3962 his father. 2) wanting nothing necessary to completeness
3) perfect
4) that which is perfect
4a) consummate human integrity and virtue

τέλειος
teleios tel'-i-os From G5056; complete (in various applications of labor, growth, mental and moral character, etc.); neuter (as noun, with G3588) completeness
KJV Usage: of full age, man, perfect.

Solomon’s heart or inner life was not perfect or full grown. It was not complete in all its parts like David’s. Solomon started out quite well but he did not finish well. Teleios means “complete”, as G5056 telos means “completely complete” or “the complete end”. These two words denote a “complete” and a “completely complete”. Teleios tells us that there is a completion that is to the limit of what man can attain on earth whereas telos is a full end that is finished, such as the end of the age. Once this age is telos, we enter the next age. Solomon did not attain all he could in his time. There is a growth that takes place within ourselves that is attainable in this life. Notice this, David attained early in his life, while Solomon in his old age did not attain. Age is not the deciding factor of a heart downward from Yahweh. Experience or status are also not deciding factors in a heart filled downward from Yahweh.

Because David is our example, we want to follow David’s example. Isaiah tells us that the Messiah comes from David’s lineage, but also that there is no end to the throne of David. Jesus our Messiah was able to come through David’s lineage because of David’s perfect or complete heart.  There is a key here, a key of David.

nun noon A primary particle of present time; “now” (as adverb of date, a transition or emphasis); also as noun or adjective present or immediate KJV Usage: henceforth, + hereafter, of late, soon, present, this (time). See also G3569, G3570.

“And mega his [Messiah’s] beginning, and his peace it is not (telos) fulfillment or the completion, on the throne David and his kingdom succeeded this and take hold in verdict and in justice from now at this very time, and into a cycle of time.”

Pay close attention here. There is no completion or fulfillment on David’s throne, and his kingdom comes after and takes hold in judicial verdicts and justice from now into the ages. Isaiah is saying that the judicial verdicts and justice are a present day reality and they will continue into the eons. Isaiah is very specific, he says “now at this very time” meaning this is a present reality that somehow people lost the knowledge of. The people did not understand that “now at this very time and into the eons” there is a judge.

Yahweh is longsuffering as we know, his judgment upon the northern and southern kingdoms was slow. He sent prophets, and tried to get the people to turn back to Him. However, with this knowledge combined as David prayed, judicial verdicts will be made faster if we are invoking the courts of heaven. In other words, if we never ask for justice to come to earth, we will simply put up with evil unnecessarily. David did not wait and endure, he asked for adjudication. Why have we missed this? Why are we taking a back seat to evil on the earth? Paul called on Yahweh for judgment against those who were subverting the gospel, why aren’t we doing the same?

Yahweh’s verdicts are for today, just as they were for David. Isaiah wrote this somewhere around 353 years after David became king. Judicial verdicts are for now. There is no break in time or consideration for administrations or dispensations. From David’s time on, David was the first one to teach us about Yahweh’s judgments. The only thing that has changed from Isaiah’s writing is the Holy Spirit can indwell us as on Pentecost. The Holy Spirit could indwell in the prophets as long as they didn’t sin, and as with Solomon, he lost the Holy Spirit in his old age. Solomon’s heart was not teleios, complete. Isaiah says “now at this very time” inferring urgency. Now! Today! At this very moment! Call for judgment!

In the Millennial kingdom the Messiah will judge from earth instead of heaven.

Isaiah 16:5 G2532 And G1356.2 [2shall be set right G3326 3with G1656 4mercy G2362 1a throne]; G2532 and G2523 one shall sit G1909 upon G1473 it G3326 with G225 truth G1722 in G4633 the tent G* of David, G2919 judging G2532 and G1567 inquiring of G2917 equity, G2532 and G4692 hastening G1343 righteousness.

Isaiah explains that in the Millennial kingdom the Messiah will sit on a throne in the tabernacle of David. We know that the millennial compound in the City of David will be almost one mile square. Within the temple region the Lord will sit on a throne in the tabernacle of David, judging. We see that there is judgments for today, through the ages, and in the Millennial kingdom it will be in the tent of David.

Ezekiel writes to the unjust shepherds. We need to pay attention to the judgment against the shepherds, and as we will note later, the unjust legal experts.

Ezekiel 34:21 G1909 With G3588 the G4125 sides G2532 and G3588   G5606 your shoulders G1473   G1375.1 you pushed away, G2532 and G3588 with G2768 your horns G1473   G2768.3 you gored, G2532 and G3956 all G3588 the G1587 faltering G1570.2 you squeezed out, G2193 until G3739 of which time G1856 you thrust G1473 them G1854 outside!

  23 G2532 And G450 I shall raise up G1909 for G1473 them G4166 [2shepherd G1520 1one]; G2532 and G4165 he will tend G1473 them G5613 as G3588   G1401 my servant G1473   G* David. G1473 He G4165 will tend G1473 them, G2532 and G1510.8.3 he will be G1473 their G4166 shepherd.
  24 G2532 And G1473 I G2962 the Lord G1510.8.1 will be G1473 to them G1519 for G2316 God, G2532 and G3588   G1401 my servant G1473   G3588   G* David G1722 in G3319 the midst G1473 of them G758 a ruler. G1473 I G2962 the Lord G2980 have spoken.

During the millennial kingdom Yahweh will judge people, and David will be a ruler. Think about that, a humble young man, from a non-important family, will have a kingdom that he rules in the millennial. Does it make sense that David’s heart was perfectly complete. We see Isaiah saying that David’s tabernacle is the place that Yahweh will judge, and Ezekiel tells us that David will rule. Isaiah also told us that judgments are for now, through to the eons. We can see how close Yahweh and David are. We can see the intensity of their relationship. Yahweh needed one man with a downward heart, one person he could bring an everlasting kingdom onto the earth. Notice what Jesus says.

Revelation 3:7 G2532 And G3588 to the G32 angel G3588 of the G1722 [2in G* 3Philadelphia G1577 1assembly] G1125 write! G3592 Thus G3004 says G3588 the G39 holy one, G3588 the G228 true, G3588 the one G2192 having G3588 the G2807 key G3588   G* of David; G3588 the one G455 opening, G2532 and G3762 no one G2808 locks, G2532 and G2808 locks, G2532 and G3762 no one G455 opens.

Jesus has the key of David.

Isaiah 22:22 G2532 And G1325 I will put G1473 to him G3588 the G2807 key G3624 of the house G* of David G1909 upon G3588   G5606 his shoulder. G1473   G2532 And G455 he shall open, G2532 and G3756 there will not be G1510.8.3   G3588   G608 one locking. G2532 And G2808 he shall lock, G2532 and G3756 there shall not be G1510.8.3   G3588   G455 one opening. G2532 And G1325 I will give G3588 the G1391 glory G* of David G1473 to him. G2532 And G756 he will rule, G2532 and G3756 there will not be G1510.8.3   G3588   G483 one disputing.

The key of David is the key of the dwelling, oikos, of David. And the Messiah will have the key on his shoulder. The Messiah will have the honor or renown of David and no one will oppose or contradict. What did David do in the house of the Lord? He invoked the courts of heaven. Now notice this, we are the temple or dwelling of the Lord. We don’t need to go anywhere, Jesus opens the door and no one shuts it. Isaiah told us that judgment is for now and into the eons. The location of where Jesus judges may change, but Jesus still has the keys to the house. We will come back to the understanding of the key shortly.

Let’s look at the way that David prays and again learn from his example.

Psalms 7:0 G5568 A psalm G3588 to G* David G3739 which G103 he sang G3588 to the G2962 lord, G5228 because of G3588 the G3056 words G* of Cush G5207 son of G* Benjamin.

“Song the David that sing Yahweh over the speech of Cush descendant of Benjamin.”

David sings this song calling for justice. He is looking for justice against an enemy. Psalms 7 is interesting because it names Cush the son of Benjamin who spoke against David. Sometimes we have individuals behaving as enemies in our lives. It is up to us to call on the courts of heaven for relief in this specific situation. David knew who was coming against him. David prays and invokes Yahweh.

Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin, so it is likely that Cush tried to falsely befriend David in order to cause evil. The previous administrations’ ambassadors did not necessarily have good intentions for David. Whatever Cush was accusing David of, David prays that if he had wronged Cush, then let Cush take David’s life. But David knows he is innocent so David then asks Yahweh to rise up in his anger.

Psalms 7:1 G2962 O lord G3588   G2316 my God, G1473   G1909 upon G1473 you G1679 I hope. G4982 Deliver G1473 me G1537 from G3956 all G3588 the ones G1377 pursuing G1473 me, G2532 and G4506 rescue G1473 me!

“Yahweh my Elohim on you expect, save me from out of all pursue me and rescue me.”

David asks Yahweh to save him from all who pursue him. These people were not Philistines, they were Israelites. These are people who were of the same group, the same nation, the same religious persuasion. (Although we do know at the time of the Judges that the tribe of Benjamin was mixed with others to preserve their tribe.) While it seems strange that David is dealing with people within Israel not liking him, whenever a new king or president takes office the old political group feels slighted. These people who were rallying around Cush were proud that the first king was Saul, from their tribe. They probably wanted the next king to come from their tribe. Yahweh had a different plan. David was a fearless fighter against the Philistines, the earthborn heirs of the Nephil, but Saul was not. David was expecting Yahweh to rescue him because Yahweh called him to be king. If Yahweh calls us to a particular task, we can expect Yahweh to deliver us from those who oppose us. The key is that we have to ask for judgment.

Psalms 7:2 G3379 Lest at any time G726 [2should be snatched away G5613 3as by G3023 4a lion G3588   G5590 1my soul], G1473   G3361 while there is none G1510.6 being G3084 for ransoming G3366 nor G4982 delivering.

“Whether perhaps carry off so that a lion my soul, not indeed release by ransom, not even heal.”

David asks that his soul be carried off by a lion, that he not be redeemed or healed. David is asking not to be helped. By itself this sentence seems odd until we connect the context with the next few sentences.

Psalms 7:3 G2962 O lord G3588   G2316 my God, G1473   G1487 if G4160 I did G3778 this, G1487 if G1510.2.3 there is G93 injustice G1722 in G5495 my hands, G1473

“Yahweh my Elohim whether I do this, whether is unrighteousness in my hand.”

David is asking if there is anything unrighteous in his hands or if he did something wrong. We have a few sentences that have been disconnected as one thought. If David did anything wrong…

Psalms 7:4 G1487 if G467 I recompensed G3588 to the ones G467 recompensing G1473 to me G2556 with bad things, G634 may I fall away G686 thus G575 from G3588   G2190 my enemies G1473   G2756 empty --

“Whether repay, me repaying evil, fall away from therefore from my hateful vain…”

David is saying that he has not repaid Cush with evil. David says make him fall away due to being hateful and vain. Now we have to connect the next sentence.

Psalms 7:5 G2614 may [4pursue G686 1then G3588 2the G2190 3enemy] G3588   G5590 my soul, G1473   G2532 and G2638 may he overtake it; G2532 and G2662 may he trample G1519 [2into G1093 3 the ground G3588   G2222 1my life]; G1473   G2532 and G3588   G1391 [2my glory G1473   G1519 4in G5522 5 the dust G2681 1may 3be encamped].

“…hunt down therefore the hateful my soul and seize upon and trample under foot into the earth, my life and the my renown into earth encamp.”

David says that if he has unrighteousness, if he has done something wrong, then Yahweh should hunt down his hateful soul, seize and trample him under foot on the earth and let others live off of his life and his fame, and live off what David had built. This is a very bold prayer. David is basically calling for Yahweh to judge him as to if he did anything against these people, Cush, and his group who oppose David. David is innocent and he calls for justice. Imagine, calling on Yahweh to judge us when we are doing what Yahweh called us to do, yet others oppose us. Doesn’t this seem like a simple way to pray? Let Yahweh do the judging. Here is the entire context of what David is asking.

“Whether perhaps carry off so that a lion my soul, not indeed release by ransom, not even heal. Yahweh my Elohim, whether I do this, whether is unrighteousness in my hand, whether repay me, repaying evil, fall away from therefore from my hateful vanity, hunt down therefore my hateful soul and seize upon and trample under foot into the earth, my life and my renown into earth encamp.”

Psalms 7:6 G450 Rise up, G2962 O lord, G1722 in G3709 your anger! G1473   G5312 Be raised up high G1722 in G3588 the G4009 limits G3588   G2190 of your enemies! G1473   G2532 And G1825 awaken, G2962 O lord G3588   G2316 my God! G1473   G1722 in G4366.2 the order G3739 in which G1781 you gave charge.

“Stand up Yahweh in your wrath raise up in the boundary your hateful and rouse fully Yahweh my Elohim in constitutions that command.”

Asking Yahweh to rise up or stand up is like asking Yahweh to enter the battle. Yahweh does not like injustice, he does not like His own people to suffer. David is asking Yahweh to give the command, or give the orders to the Elohim to enact justice.

Notice Stephen. Stephen witnessed to the religious leaders and they killed him.

Acts 7:45.....G2193 until G3588 the G2250 days G* of David;
  46 G3739 who G2147 found G5484 favor G1799 before G3588   G2316 God, G2532 and G154 asked G2147 to find G4638 a tent G3588 for the G2316 God G* of Jacob.

Acts 7:51 G4644 O hard-necked G2532 and G564 uncircumcised G3588   G2588 in heart G2532 and G3588   G3775 ears, G1473 you G104 continually G3588 [2the G4151 4spirit G3588   G39 3holy G496 1rush headlong against]; G5613 as G3588   G3962 your fathers, G1473   G2532 so also G1473 you.

Acts 7:54 G191 And hearing G1161   G3778 these things, G1282 they were sawed through G3588 in G2588 their hearts, G1473   G2532 and G1031 gnashed G3588 their G3599 teeth G1909 against G1473 him.
  55 G5224 And being G1161   G4134 full G4151 [2spirit G39 1of holy], G816 having gazed G1519 into G3588 the G3772 heaven, G1492 he beheld G1391 the glory G2316 of God, G2532 and G* Jesus G2476 standing G1537 at G1188 the right G3588   G2316 of God.
  56 G2532 And G2036 he said, G2400 Behold, G2334 I view G3588 the G3772 heavens G455 being opened, G2532 and G3588 the G5207 son G3588   G444 of man G1537 [2at G1188 3 the right G2476 1standing] G3588   G2316 of God.

Stephen saw the Lord standing. Jesus was not taking Stephen’s death lying down. In other words, Jesus was battle ready to receive Stephen’s spirit and wage war against the religious leaders until Stephen prayed to not let their sin stand against them. Stephen called off the judgment against these people. They stoned him, but they did not know what they were doing. If they had seen Jesus as Stephen had seen Jesus standing, they would have stopped and left Stephen alone.

The religious leaders who were legal experts and shepherds for the people resisted the Holy Spirit, antipiptō, “against fall down”, or “instead of alighting”. This means that they did not bow down to the Holy Spirit. They did not submit to Yahweh or the Holy Spirit so their hearts were not right, they were unrighteous shepherds.

Psalms 7:7 G2532 And G4864 a gathering G2992 of peoples G2944 shall encircle G1473 you; G2532 and G5228 for G3778 this G1519 [2unto G5311 3 the height G1994 1return]!

“And synagogue people surround you and over this into heights turn around.”

David calls on Yahweh to stand up in wrath, and then give a charge against this enemy and the people in the synagogue will surround Yahweh. On behalf of this then turn around in the heavens. Once the assembly gathers, Yahweh can return to the heights.

Psalms 7:8 G2962 The lord G2919 judges G2992 peoples. G2919 Judge G1473 me, G2962 O lord, G2596 according to G3588   G1343 my righteousness! G1473   G2532 and G2596 according to G3588   G171.1 my innocence G1473   G1909 judge for G1473 me!

“Yahweh judge people, judge me Yahweh, downward your justice and downward your acacia on me.”

The word for innocence is also acacia which is in the family of trees as mimosas. David is asking for Yahweh’s downward justice and downward healing the way acacia heals. Acacia is used in wound healing, coughs and colds, and is a pain reliever. David is asking for justice and healing. One’s heart has to be complete to ask for judgment. If someone like Solomon asked for judgment, he would receive a judgment that he would not have liked. This is how we can understand the complete or perfect heart as compared to the incomplete heart. The incomplete heart would never ask to be judged.

Psalms 7:9 G4931 Finish off entirely G1211 indeed G4189 the wickedness G268 of sinners! G2532 And G2720 you shall straighten G1342 the just, G2082.1 examining G2588 hearts G2532 and G3510 kidneys, G3588 O G2316 God, G1346 justly.

“Complete entirely truly iniquities sinning and make straight, righteous caretaker, inner life and emotional center, the Elohim righteously.”

Sunteleō means “together with and complete”. David is now speaking to the Elohim and saying ‘get together and end the iniquity of the sinners and make them straight’. David is asking for the Elohim, the righteous caretakers, to straighten out their (Cush and his friends’) inner lives and their emotional center. The Elohim who are of Yahweh are the righteous caretakers of mankind.

Psalms 7:10 G3588   G996 My help G1473   G3844 is from G3588   G2316 God, G3588 the G4982 one delivering G3588 the G2117 straight G3588 in the G2588 heart.

“My aid in the presence of the Elohim save the true heart.”

Aid or help is the idea of rope or chain for frapping or tying a ship. David is asking to be tied down by the Elohim. He asks for the true and straight heart to be tied or moored down. We could ask the same thing. We can ask Yahweh to tie our heart to his. This again is a sign of a complete or perfect heart. There are some who don’t want to be tied to Yahweh, they want a little of Yahweh, and a lot of the things of the world.

Psalms 7:11 G3588   G2316 God G2923 [2judge G1342 1 is a just], G2532 and G2478 strong, G2532 and G3115.1 lenient, G3361 not G3709 [2anger G1863 1bringing on] G2596   G1538 each G2250 day.

“The Elohim righteous judge and forcible and forbearing not wrath superinduce downwards every day.”

David points out that the Elohim is a righteous judge who doesn’t add wrath from the heavens, meaning that the Elohim doesn’t overreact and give people extra wrath. This sentence connects with the next one.

Psalms 7:12 G1437 If G3361 you should not G1994 turn, G3588   G4501 [2his broadsword G1473   G4743.2 1he will brighten]. G3588   G5115 His bow G1473   G1780.2 he stretched tight, G2532 and G2090 he prepared G1473 it;

“If haply not turn back, your sabre you polish, your bow intensified, and you make ready.”

David says that the Elohim doesn’t add wrath everyday, but if the Elohim doesn’t turn back, he will polish his saber and his bow will be pulled back and ready to go. Jesus standing for Stephen, ready to defend his servant is the picture here, with his heavenly host ready and armed. Understand, Yahweh has an army ready for those who abuse his servants.

Psalms 7:13 G2532 And G1722 by G1473 it G2090 he prepared G4632 weapons G2288 of death; G3588   G956 [2his arrows G1473   G3588 3for the ones G2545 4for burning G1829.1 1he brought to completion].

“And in your make ready implement death your jacio (missile) ignite working.”

David is describing the firepower of the Elohim. Think about Sodom. Jacio is latin for “shooting”. The Elohim have implements of death that shoot and burn, which sound like missiles. The weapons of the heavenly host are more amazing than we realize.

Psalms 7:14 G2400 Behold, G5605 the wicked travails G93 with iniquity; G4815 he conceived G4192 misery, G2532 and G5088 gave birth to G458 lawlessness.

“See! Suffer birth-pangs unrighteousness, seize pain and bring forth iniquity.”

David is exclaiming his enemy start to suffer from his own unrighteousness. Like going into labor, the pain gets steadily worse. He is not asking politely here, he is demanding.

David says: “see Cush’s labor pains of injustice!”. Cush was at the point of birthing injustice and unrighteousness against David. Cush seized toil and brought forth lawlessness. It sounds like Cush exploited a situation when the people of his region had to work hard and then Cush lied about David. He gave birth to an evil plan.

Psalms 7:15 G2978.1 [2a pit G3736 1He dug up], G2532 even G383.1 he dug G1473 it, G2532 and G1706 he shall fall G1519 into G998.1 a cesspool G3739 which G2038 he worked.

“Pit excavate and excavated he fall into bottom that work.”

When a personal enemy sets a trap for you it is important to pray that he fall into his own trap. Remember Haman? Think of Saul, setting a trap for David so that David could marry Saul’s daughter. But Yahweh Elohim was with him over and over. Why? Because David’s heart was in alignment with Yahweh’s heart.

David says: “he dug a well, he dug it and should fall into the well he worked to dig”.

Psalms 7:16 G1994 [2shall return G3588   G4192 1His misery] G1473   G1519 unto G2776 his own head; G1473   G2532 and G1909 [3upon G2884.2 4his head G1473   G3588   G93 1his injustice G1473   G2597 2shall come down].

“Turn back his pain into his head and on top him his unrighteousness downward stepping.”

David is not joking, he is writing this song for people to sing throughout the generations. Isn’t this important? Speak directly to Yahweh in Yahweh’s courts and call for the destruction that your enemy planned and the evil spirits he sent out to come back on him.

“Turn around his toil onto his head, and on his top, and his injustice downward step or descend”. David is asking for Cush’s curses to be reversed back to Cush. He is also asking for Cush’s judgment of injustice to descend from Yahweh. Imagine singing a song like this in church today!

Psalms 7:17 G1843 I shall make acknowledgment G3588 to the G2962 lord G2596 according to G3588   G1343 his righteousness; G1473   G2532 and G5567 I shall strum G3588 to the G3686 name G2962 of the lord G3588 the G5310 highest.

“Acknowledge Yahweh downward his righteousness and sing name Yahweh Highest.”

David is not praying in his own strength, but is invoking Yahweh to send down His righteousness. Sing to Yahweh. It seems that when we are mad, we are unlikely to sing, but David is giving us a clue to his heart. He is willing to sing even in his present turmoil. David must be so committed to Yahweh that he is not as upset as we might be when someone personally sets up a situation to attack us. Now people will sing this song in the tabernacle and later in the temple.

Jesus asked his disciples who the Son of Man would be. He then asked who they thought He was. Peter gave the correct answer.

Matthew 16:16 G611 And answering G1161   G* Simon G* Peter G2036 said, G1473 You G1510.2.2 are G3588 the G5547 Christ, G3588 the G5207 son G3588 of the G2316 [2God G3588   G2198 1living].
  17 G2532 And G611 responding G3588   G* Jesus G2036 said G1473 to him, G3107 Blessed G1510.2.2 are you G* Simon G* Bar G* Jonah; G3754 for G4561 flesh G2532 and G129 blood G3756 did not G601 reveal it G1473 to you, G235 but G3588   G3962 my father, G1473   G3588 the one G1722 in G3588 the G3772 heavens.

The answer: You are the Christ, the son of the Living God.

Matthew 16:18 G2504 And I G1161   G1473 say unto you, G3004   G3754 that G1473 you G1510.2.2 are G* Peter, G2532 and G1909 upon G3778 this, G3588 the G4073 rock, G3618 I will build G1473 my G3588   G1577 assembly, G2532 and G4439 the gates G86 of Hades G3756 shall not G2729 prevail against G1473 it.

The name Peter means “stone”. Jesus is saying that Peter is a rock. but upon this rock of knowledge (that Jesus is the Christ) is what he will build his assembly upon. We are built upon the rock of knowledge of who Jesus is.  And guess what, the gates of Hades will not prevail. Aren’t gates defensive? This means that the knowledge of Jesus being the Christ, son of the Living God, will storm the gates of hell and will not prevail over that knowledge. The gates of Hades cannot hold back those storming the gates.  Did the gates of hell hold Jesus, son of the Living God? No.

Now Jesus says something else.

Matthew 16:19 G2532 And G1325 I will give G1473 to you G3588 the G2807 keys G3588 of the G932 kingdom G3588 of the G3772 heavens; G2532 and G3739 whatever G1437   G1210 you should have bound G1909 upon G3588 the G1093 earth, G1510.8.3 it shall be G1210 have been bound G1722 in G3588 the G3772 heavens; G2532 and G3739 what G1437 ever G3089 you should have untied G1909 upon G3588 the G1093 earth, G1510.8.3 it shall G3089 have been untied G1722 in G3588 the G3772 heavens.

Jesus says that here are the keys, now open the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind, tie, or fasten, on the earth will be bound, tied, or fastened, in the heavens.  Whatever you loose, untie, or destroy, on earth will be loosened, untied, or destroyed, in the heavens. How is it possible to have this power? The first thing that we need to understand is who Jesus is. He is the son of the Living God, and our second requirement is that he died and rose again the third day, which at this time he had not been crucified yet. The second thing to understand is that it takes a heart that is downward filled by Yahweh, a heart like His. Our third understanding comes from Isaiah, who told us emphatically that this judgment is for now unto the eons. Jesus will reign from David’s tabernacle, judging. And fourthly this key is not for those who do not believe. The key of David, the keys that unlock the kingdom of David are for those who believe, and Jesus has the keys to unlock the tabernacles of David. This is why it is to our advantage to understand David and the way he prayed. We are the tabernacles. We can be unlocked.

Jesus speaks in rebuke to the legal experts. The lawyers were legal experts in the Law of Moses, not in Roman law. They had created such a system for the people that they disregarded the prophets. Their forefathers had killed the prophets. The legal experts couldn’t see past the walls that they built to listen or to learn from the prophets and apostles. They then kept people from listening and learning from the prophets.

Luke 11:52 G3759 Woe G1473 to you, G3588 to the G3544 legal experts; G3754 for G142 you take away G3588 the G2807 key G3588 of the G1108 knowledge, G1473 and you yourselves G3756 do not G1525 enter, G2532 and G3588 the ones G1525 entering G2967 you restrain.

Consider Ezekiel’s shepherds. The legal experts and the shepherds were not like David. They did not and do not have a heart like Yahweh’s heart. Yahweh looked for someone who was downward to his heart, meaning the motion of down filling from Yahweh to a human. Yahweh was with David, we see this recorded over and over. David’s heart was as complete as a human heart could be. Although David was not perfect in his actions his heart was perfect. This we can see is why David prayed the way that he did. David demanded that he be judged and punished if he did something wrong, otherwise bring the fiery missiles against his enemies.

The caution here is not to behave in pride and call for our own judgment if our heart is not complete. But if our heart is complete, if our heart, our inner intentions, are like David, and we are living for Yahweh, it is time we all get busy praying like David prayed. We do not have to put up with spiritual attacks if we are innocent. We do not have to put up with a personal enemy who is trying to trap us. Do not put off invoking judgment. We’ve been lied to and misled so that the satan has an easy time of corrupting the world. No one is holding the children of the devil accountable. Isaiah decisively tells us that this is for now. Call on Yahweh’s judgment now. These judicial hearings are for now and will last into the ages.
