Aging Warrior; More Giants; Achmon, Saphut, Lachmi; Ordering Giants for Wrath

As we look at the wars that David and his mighty men engaged in we recognize that David is aging. Yet his mighty men are able to kill many, many, uncircumcised giants. David placed his mighty men in high positions after they battled faithfully and fiercely. David always prayed before each battle and his mighty men were victorious in that they brought the population of the giants down and Yahweh was pleased. We notice specific giants mentioned who were killed, which means at that time these giants had a reputation among the nations. We also find out that Yahweh has an assignment for the giants who are waiting in hades.

As we studied last week, the Gibeonites were a group of people living among Shem, Eber, and Abraham, originally descended from Canaan. We recognized that Shem and Abraham probably thought it was more important to evangelize the people in the region rather than to fight them. The Gibeonites fooled Joshua and his officers into making an alliance with them. Later, when the heirs of Jacob came to posses the land, the tribe of Benjamin merged with the Gibeonites. As we also noted last week, David brought the ark to Gibeon and Solomon worshipped at Gibeon. But notice who descended from Gibeon.

1 Chronicles 8:29-33 (KJV)
29  And at Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon; whose wife's name was Maachah:
30  And his firstborn son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab,
31  And Gedor, and Ahio, and Zacher.
32  And Mikloth begat Shimeah. And these also dwelt with their brethren in Jerusalem, over against them.
33  And Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.

1 Samuel 9:1-2 (KJV)
1  Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of power.
2  And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people

1 Samuel 9:1 G2532 And G1510.7.3 there was G435 a man G1537 from G3588 the G5207 sons G* of Benjamin, G2532 and G3686 his name G1473   G* was Kish, G5207 son G* of Abiel, G5207 son G* of Zeror, G5207 son G* of Bechorath, G5207 son G* of Aphiah, G5207 son G435 of a man G* of Benjamin, G435 [2man G1415 1a mighty] G1722 in G2479 strength.
  2 G2532 And G3778 to this one was G5207 a son, G2532 and G3686 his name G1473   G* was Saul, G2129.1 a huge G435 [2man G18 1goodly], G2532 and G3756 there was not G1510.7.3   G1722 among G5207 the sons G* of Israel G18 one good G5228 above G1473 him. G5252.3 He was head and shoulders G2532 and G1883 [2above G5308 1high] G5228 over G3956 all G3588 the G1093 land.

Kish and his son Saul were Gibeonites of the tribe of Benjamin. Kish/Kis was a man of might and strength. Saul was huge, at least a foot taller than all the rest of the people. The reason these physical attributes are being pointed out is to differentiate them from the Israelites. This tells us that in their lineage, the Gibeonites had some large Canaanite mixing, and now during the time of king Saul, we have the identifying descriptions to draw our attention to the fact that even though there had been genetic mixing in Gibeon and Saul was huge, he was a goodly man. We see the history of Gibeon as a group of genetically mixed people who worshipped Yahweh. Yahweh spared them, then did a most notable miracle through Joshua on their behalf. What we learn from this is that no one is beyond evangelizing. No matter their heritage, ancestry, or genetic make up.

We see something else of importance. When David was on the run from Saul, Saul’s kinsmen were the ones who helped David.

1 Chronicles 12:1-2 (AMP)
1  THESE ARE the ones who came to David at Ziklag, while he yet concealed himself because of Saul son of Kish; they were among the mighty men, his helpers in war.
2  They were bowmen and could use the right hand or the left to sling stones or shoot arrows from the bow; they were of Saul's kinsmen of Benjamin.

This tells us that the relatives of Saul did not blindly support Saul simply because they were related, instead they supported David, the one who would depose Saul. They obviously were independent thinkers, led by the Holy Spirit rather than norms. They also had some mixed DNA.

David is almost killed, but Abishai saves David.

Josephus 7:12:1….A little afterward the king made war against the Philistines; and when he had joined battle with them, and put them to flight, he was left alone, as he was in pursuit of them; and when he was quite tired down, he was seen by one of the enemy, his name was Achmon, the son of Araph, he was one of the sons of the giants. He had a spear, the handle of which weighed three hundred shekels, and a breastplate of chain-work, and a sword. He turned back, and ran violently to slay [David] their enemy's king, for he was quite tired out with labor; but Abishai, Joab's brother, appeared on the sudden, and protected the king with his shield, as he lay down, and slew the enemy. Now the multitude were very uneasy at these dangers of the king, and that he was very near to be slain; and the rulers made him swear that he would no more go out with them to battle, lest he should come to some great misfortune by his courage and boldness, and thereby deprive the people of the benefits they now enjoyed by his means, and of those that they might hereafter enjoy by his living a long time among them.

2 Samuel 21:16-17 (KJV)
16  And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.
17  But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.

Achmon may be Ishbibenob, as they both had the same spear description. But they may not be the same giant. Araph, the place this giant was from means “to drop or bend downward”, used in reference as “break the neck”.  Araph is not the name of Achmon’s father it is the name of the place he was from. It is interesting that dropping down or bending down in relation to giants is the place he was from. The giants from this region may have been especially tall as they had to bend down. Now we see more giants are killed by Sibbechai, who Josephus says, killed many.

Josephus 7:12:2.  When the king heard that the Philistines were gathered together at the city Gazara, he sent an army against them, when Sibbechai the Hittite, one of David's most courageous men, behaved himself so as to deserve great commendation, for he slew many of those that bragged they were the posterity of the giants, and vaunted themselves highly on that account, and thereby was the occasion of victory to the Hebrews….

Sibbechai/Sobochai was a Hittite who killed many giants. He may have been a Hushathite as the Bible suggests, but the Septuagint and Josephus call him a Hittite. He was a giant slayer like David and all David’s mighty men.

Josephus 7:12:2…After which defeat, the Philistines made war again; and when David had sent an army against them, Nephan his kinsman fought in a single combat with the stoutest of all the Philistines, and slew him, and put the rest to flight. Many of them also were slain in the fight….

There are so many battles with giants and it seems as if the giant population is hardly dwindling. Notice the word “stoutest” as a description. A stout Philistine is a strong Philistine, but maybe not as tall as some. Still of the mixed tribe of giants, the stout Philistines were becoming more human in size.

1 Chronicles 20:1 And it came to pass at the return of the year, at the time of the going forth of kings to war, that Joab gathered the whole force of the army, and they ravaged the land of the children of Ammon; and he came and besieged Rabba. But David abode in Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabba and destroyed it. 2 And David took the crown of Molchom their king off his head, and the weight of it was found to be a talent of gold, and on it were precious stones; and it was placed on the head of David: and he brought out the spoils of the city which were very great. 3 And he brought out the people that were in it, and sawed them asunder with saws, and cut them with iron axes, and with harrows: and thus David did to all the children of Ammon. And David and all his people returned to Jerusalem.

The Ammonites descended from Lot and his younger daughter. David sawed the Ammonites, and chopped them with iron axes. Harrows are plough tines used to break up soil, similar to a rake. The Ammonites were worshippers of Molech living east of the Jordan. Then there was another war with the Philistines.

1 Chronicles 20:4 And it came to pass afterward that there was again war with the Philistines in Gazer: then Sobochai the Sosathite smote Saphut of the sons of the giants, and laid him low.

2 Samuel 21:18 (KJV)
18  And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.

Sibbechai/Sobochai killed a giant named Saphut. And there was another war with the Philistines.

1 Chronicles 20:5 And there was war again with the Philistines; and Eleanan the son of Jair smote Lachmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, and the wood of his spear was as a weavers’ beam.

2 Samuel 21:19  And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.

Eleanan/Elhanan killed Goliath’s brother. And then there was another war.

Josephus 7:12:2…Now a little while after this, the Philistines pitched their camp at a city which lay not far off the bounds of the country of the Hebrews. They had a man who was six cubits tall, and had on each of his feet and hands one more toe and finger than men naturally have. Now the person who was sent against them by David out of his army was Jonathan, the son of Shimea, who fought this man in a single combat, and slew him; and as he was the person who gave the turn to the battle, he gained the greatest reputation for courage therein. This man also vaunted himself to be of the sons of the giants. But after this fight the Philistines made war no more against the Israelites.
The Works of Flavius Josephus.

This Jonathan was David’s nephew, Shimea’s son. Jonathan killed the giant that had 24 digits and who claimed to be a son of the giants. We see people today who have been born with an extra finger or toe, or an extra two fingers and two toes. This is a recessive gene. We hear stories of Native American tribes which held up their hands to either see or show if someone had six digits or five on their hand.

1 Chronicles 20:6 And there was again war in Geth, and there was a man of extraordinary size, and his fingers and toes were six on each hand and foot, four and twenty; and he was descended from the giants. 7 And he defied Israel, and Jonathan the son of Samaa the brother of David slew him. 8 These were born to Rapha in Geth; all four were giants, and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

2 Samuel 21:20  And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.
21  And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.
22  These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

Rapha was a father to giants with six digits. Considering that the Philistines were several different tribes of giants who banded together it is possible there were was one tribe of sons with twenty four digits. There were a few people named Rapha in the Bible. One was the fifth son of Benjamin, one was a grandson of Ephraim. But it is possible that neither of these men named Rapha were the father of these giants with extra fingers and toes.

David’s mighty men were not warriors who were fighting mere men, they were giant slayers. They were fierce.

Josephus 7:12:4 4.  Now all the men that were about David were men of courage. Those that were most illustrious and famous of them for their actions were thirty-eight; of five of whom I will only relate the performances, for these will suffice to make manifest the virtues of the others also; for these were powerful enough to subdue countries, and conquer great nations. First, therefore, was Jessai, the son of Achimaas, who frequently leaped upon the troops of the enemy, and did not leave off fighting till he overthrew nine hundred of them. After him was Eleazar, the son of Dodo, who was with the king at Arasam. This man, when once the Israelites were under a consternation at the multitude of the Philistines, and were running away, stood alone, and fell upon the enemy, and slew many of them, till his sword clung to his band by the blood he had shed, and till the Israelites, seeing the Philistines retire by his means, came down from the mountains and pursued them, and at that time won a surprising and a famous victory, while Eleazar slew the men, and the multitude followed and spoiled their dead bodies. The third was Sheba, the son of Ilus. Now this man, when, in the wars against the Philistines, they pitched their camp at a place called Lehi, and when the Hebrews were again afraid of their army, and did not stay, he stood still alone, as an army and a body of men; and some of them he overthrew, and some who were not able to abide his strength and force he pursued. These are the works of the hands, and of fighting, which these three performed………… Next to these was Abishai, Joab's brother; for he in one day slew six hundred.
The Works of Flavius Josephus.

Jessai killed nine hundred people. Eleazar killed so many people this sword was crusted over with blood and stuck to his belt. Sheba stood against an entire army, overthrowing them and then pursuing those that were fleeing. Abishai killed six hundred Philistines in one day. He also saved David’s life as we read earlier. Josephus points out that Benaiah fought two eminent men at once, a large Egyptian, and a lion.

Josephus 7:12:4…..The fifth of these was Benaiah, by lineage a priest; for being challenged by [two] eminent men in the country of Moab, he overcame them by his valor, Moreover, there was a man, by nation an Egyptian, who was of a vast bulk, and challenged him, yet did he, when he was unarmed, kill him with his own spear, which he threw at him; for he caught him by force, and took away his weapons while he was alive and fighting, and slew him with his own weapons. One may also add this to the forementioned actions of the same man, either as the principal of them in alacrity, or as resembling the rest. When God sent a snow, there was a lion who slipped and fell into a certain pit, and because the pit's mouth was narrow it was evident he would perish, being enclosed with the snow; so when he saw no way to get out and save himself, he roared. When Benaiah heard the wild beast, he went towards him, and coming at the noise he made, he went down into the mouth of the pit and smote him, as he struggled, with a stake that lay there, and immediately slew him. The other thirty-three were like these in valor also.
The Works of Flavius Josephus.

These are the types of people that David called his “mighty men”. They were fierce, intense, brave, and strong. They had one mission, to overcome the enemies of Israel. Let’s look at Benaiah’s eminent men and the Egyptian.

2 Samuel 23:20-21 (KJV)
20  And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:
21  And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

1 Chronicles 11:22-23 (KJV)
22  Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.
23  And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

2 Samuel 23:20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, he was abundant in mighty deeds, from Kabzeel, and he killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab: and he went down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day. 21
He killed an Egyptian, a spectacular man, and in the hand of the Egyptian was a spear as the side of a ladder; and he went down to him with a staff, and snatched the spear from the Egyptian's hand, and killed him with his own spear. https://studybible.info/CAB/2%20Samuel%2023

1 Chronicles 11:21 He was renowned among the three. Of the three he was higher in rank than two and was their chief, but did not come up to the three. 22 And Banaias son of Jodae, son of a worthy, whose works for Kabasael were many; he smote the two Ariels of Moab. He went down also and smote a lion in the pit in a snowy day. 23 He smote also the Egyptian, a noted man of five cubits high. Though the Egyptian had in his hand a spear like a weaver's beam, Banaias went against him with a staff, and wresting the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, he slew him with his own spear. https://studybible.info/Thomson/1%20Chronicles%2011

There were two eminent, lion like men, who may have been sons of Ariel. The word “ariel” in Hebrew means “lion of God”, “lion-like”, or “heroic”. Most translations vary between the idea of ariel or sons of ariel, and lionlike. Whoever they were, they were notable and set apart as special. They were very intense, but Benaiah was more intense.

The Egyptian was of vast bulk, goodly, great stature, spectacular, and a noted man. The Egyptian had a spear like a weavers beam, or a ladder. Benaiah was a giant killer.

Benaiah was a singer and a musician before the ark of the Lord when David brought the ark up to Jebus/Gibeon/the City of David. There are two Benaiah’s listed among David’s mighty men, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Benaiah the Pirathonite. Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over David’s bodyguards, and a commander of the army in the third month. The other Benaiah the Pirathonite was a commander of the army in the  eleventh month. There are several other Benaiah’s listed in the Bible. But Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a giant and lion slayer.

What does the Yahweh want from his people? He wants strong, ferocious, warriors for him. David was so loved by Yahweh because he asked the Lord what they should do in battle. David’s men had honor because they and David killed giants, making quite a dent in the Philistine army. As we know, David was a man of blood and could not build the temple, but he has the honor of a King. Isn’t this what Yahweh wants from his people? Doesn’t he want warriors for his army? While we may not be in physical battles we can and should wage war in spiritual battles.

While David and his men killed many giants they were still not completely eradicated. The largest ones among them were killed, but their genes were still being passed on. Yet the more mixing of those genes among humans brought the size of those hybrids down to more human like sizes. Jesus ben Sirach says this:

Sirach 47:1-8 (DRV)
1  THEN Nathan the prophet arose in the days of David.
2  And as the fat taken away from the flesh, so was David chosen from among the children of Israel.
3  He played with lions as with lambs: and with bears he did in like manner as with the lambs of the flock, in his youth.
4  Did not he kill the giant, and take away reproach from his people?  In lifting up his hand, with the stone in the sling he beat down the boasting of Goliath:
5  For he called upon the Lord the Almighty, and he gave strength in his right hand, to take away the mighty warrior, and to set up the horn of his nation.
6  So in ten thousand did he glorify him, and praised him in the blessings of the Lord, in offering to him a crown of glory:
7  For he destroyed the enemies on every side, and extirpated the Philistines the adversaries unto this day: he broke their horn for ever.
8  In all his works he gave thanks to the holy one, and to the most High, with words of glory.  With his whole heart he praised the Lord, and loved God that made him: and he gave him power against his enemies:

The “another type of mixed tribes”, the Philistines, were not completely killed off. The Philistines were still an enemy to Israel into the captivity. They mostly remained in their own borders. After captivity some Israelite women had married Philistines. It wasn’t until the Roman era that the Philistines were conquered, which of course means they assimilated into the other people groups throughout the region.

There will be a time in the future when giants will come to fulfill the Lord’s wrath on Babylon, on the Day of the Lord. There are some very clear alterations to the text here. The Masoretes changed who the Lord is sending against Babylon.

Isaiah 13:1 THE VISION WHICH ESAIAS SON OF AMOS SAW AGAINST BABYLON.
2 Lift up a standard on the mountain of the plain, exalt the voice to them, beckon with the hand, open the gates, ye rulers. 3 I give command, and I bring them: giants are coming to fulfil my wrath, rejoicing at the same time and insulting. 4 A voice of many nations on the mountains, even like to that of many nations; a voice of kings and nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts has given command to a war-like nation, 5 to come from a land afar off, from the utmost foundation of heaven; the Lord and his warriors are coming to destroy all the world. 6 Howl ye, for the day of the Lord is near, and destruction from God shall arrive.  http://ecmarsh.com/lxx/Esaias/index.htm

Because the giants have been in hades, waiting a long time for the Day of the Lord and the Day of Judgment. The Lord is not bringing the Nephilim, the fallen angels, he is leading giants, the children of the fallen angels. We all understand that children don’t ask to be born, nor do they have much choice once they are born as to how their parents will raise them.

The armed warriors come from soil or land from afar off the uttermost parts or extremity of the foundation heaven. Yahweh and his armed warriors destroy the inhabited world. When does this happen?

The Lord of the heavenly host is ordering the giants to destroy Babylon. The Day of the Lord is near. What happens at the end of the tribulation? The beast kills Babylon, Revelation 17:16-17. How is Babylon destroyed? By an order from the Lord of hosts to the giants who are coming by His directions and commands. On the Day of the Lord, the Lord comes with His armies and destroys the beast. We know the judgment of the giants comes at the end of the age. Where are the giants now? In hades.

A prophecy to Egypt from Ezekiel tells us that Egypt will be overthrown with the swords of giants.

Ezekiel 32:11 For thus saith the Lord, the sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon thee. 12 With the swords of giants I will overthrow thy strength. They are all ravagers from the nations; and they shall destroy the haughtiness of Egypt, and all her strength shall be trampled down. https://studybible.info/Thomson/Ezekiel%2032

Egypt will also be scolded by the giants. Egypt was a terror to others and the people will be killed by the sword and then reside with the giants.

Ezekiel 32: 20 in the midst of the sword's victims they shall fall with him. When all his power shall be laid to rest; then will the giants say to thee, 21 "Down with thee into the lowest pit! excel whom thou mayst, down with thee, and be laid with the uncircumcised, in the midst of the victims of the sword." 22 There lieth Assur and all his assembly; all the victims of the sword are laid there; and their sepulture is in the deep pit; 23 and around his tomb is his assembly; all the slain who fell by the sword, who made themselves dreaded in the land of life. 24 There lieth Ailam with all his host around his tomb; all the slain who fell by the sword, and went down uncircumcised to the depth of the earth: 25 having made themselves dreaded in the land of life, they have received their punishment with them who go down to the pit amidst the slain. 26 There are deposited Mosoch and Thobel, each with all his host around his tomb; all his slain, all uncircumcised, slain with the sword. Having made themselves dreaded in the land of life 27 they are laid with the giants who fell of old; who went down in their armour to the mansion of the dead, and had their swords placed under their heads; but their iniquities were on their bones; because they were the terror of all during their lives. 28 Thou indeed shalt be in the midst of the uncircumcised, with them who are the victims of the sword. https://studybible.info/Thomson/Ezekiel%2032

This is interesting. Asshur, Elam, Meshech, and Tubal, are all mentioned as fierce warrior nations who are now in the mansion of the dead with the giants. They were all a terror during their lives.  Let’s look at Brenton’s version.

Ezekiel 32:20 (32:19) They shall fall with him in the midst of them that are slain with the sword, and all his strength shall perish: the giants also shall say to thee, 21 (32:20) Be thou in the depth of the pit: to whom art thou superior? yea, go down, and lie with the uncircumcised, (32:21) in the midst of them that are slain with the sword. 22 There are Assur and all his company: all his slain have been laid there: 23 and their burial is in the depth of the pit, and his company are set around about his tomb: all the slain that fell by the sword, who had caused the fear of them to be upon the land of the living. 24 There is Aelam and all his host round about his tom: all the slain that fell by the sword, and the uncircumcised that go down to the deep of the earth, who caused their fear to be upon the land of the living: and they have received their punishment with them that go down to the pit, 25 in the midst of the slain. 26 There were laid Mosoch, and Thobel, and all his strength round about his tomb: all his slain men, all the uncircumcised, slain with the sword, who caused their fear to be in the land of the living. 27 And they are laid with the giants that fell of old, who went down to Hades with their weapons of war: and they laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities were upon their bones, because they terrified all men during their life.

Because these uncircumcised nations caused fear in the Israelites their people will be laid with the giants that fell who went down to hades, or the mansion of the dead. Joel tells us that the Gibbore will rise up from the dead.

Joel 3:9-11 (KJV)
9  Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up [exegeirō ] the mighty men [Gibbore], let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:
10  Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong [Gibbore].
11  Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones [Gibbore] to come down, O LORD.

The Gibbore will be resuscitated from death. For what purpose? The battle at the end of the age. Ezekiel prophecies to the birds.  At the end of the Tribulation when the millennial kingdom is being established the Lord will call the birds to eat flesh.

Ezekiel 39:17 Thou, therefore, son of man, say, Thus saith the Lord, Say to every winged bird, and to all the wild beasts of the field, Assemble and come: assemble from all around to my sacrifice, to the great sacrifice which I have made for you on the mountains of Israel; and you shall eat flesh and drink blood. 18 You shall eat the flesh of giants and drink the blood of the princes of the earth. Earns and young bulls and he goats; and all the bulls are well fatted. 19 And you shall eat fat till you are glutted, and drink blood to satiety, at my sacrifice which I have prepared for you. 20 And you shall be filled at my table with horses and horsemen, and with giants and every great warrior, saith the Lord. 21 I will indeed display my glory among you, and all the nations shall see my judgment which I have executed, and my hand which I have brought upon them. 22 And the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from this particular time and thence forward. 23 And all the nations shall know, that the house of Israel were carried into captivity for their sins. Because they broke covenant with me therefore I turned away my face from them, and delivered them into the hands of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. 24 According to their pollutions and according to their iniquities I dealt with them and turned away my face from them. 25 Therefore thus saith the Lord, I will now bring back the captivity of Jacob, and have compassion on the house of Israel. And I will shew a zeal for my holy name,

The birds will eat the flesh of the giants and great warriors. This prophecy is repeated in Revelation.

Revelation 19:17-19 (KJV)
17  And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18  That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men [giants], and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19  And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

There is a difference between “mighty men” and “all men”. After the beast kills Babylon, the birds eat the remains of the dead. The beast makes war with the Lamb. The Lamb and his armies overcome them all. There is a future purpose for the giants. There is a rising up of giants from hades to do as the Lord commands to end time Babylon.

If we consider the nearly six thousand years of mixed DNA in humanity we must recognize that Yahweh is concerned about one thing; who we worship. Yahweh is not concerned as to our genetic make up. The giants had specific principalities that they worshipped. What caused Israel’s downfall was not the mixing of DNA as much as the worshipping of fallen angels. Israel was to teach the nations about Yahweh, but instead they forsook Yahweh for the worshipping of false gods. We will study the spiritual culture of the giants next week.
