Curing Lukewarmness; For This Occasion; Sons and Daughters of the King; Faith

As we noticed previously, the Church is in a predicament with regards to this time of being lukewarm, and we want to explore a remedy for this malady. We know that Jesus will vomit the lukewarm people out of his mouth, and we do not want to be in that group. Esther’s uncle suggested that maybe it was for this time that she was reigning. It may be that it is for this time when we are on the earth during the age of lukewarmness, to reinvigorate the fire within our brothers and sisters. The young men who were companions of Daniel in Nebuchadnezzar’s courts had to take a bold stand one day. It is recorded as The Prayer of Azariah. We also see that over four hundred years later people were still reminding each other of this prayer. They were still telling the story and they were gaining courage for the battles that they were facing. As it turns out there is an understanding that we seem to be lacking that causes us to be lukewarm. We should try and cure lukewarmness for these last days.

Esther had become the wife of the King, but as we know, there was a man named Haman who did not like the Jews in his land. He had devised a plan to murder them, but Esther's’s uncle (via messenger) told her of the plan and asked for her help.

Est 4:14  For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

“And anyone knows whether into occasion you reign.”

Esther did reign, she lived in the palace. If Esther didn’t speak to Artaxerxes then Yahweh would use someone else, but Esther and her relatives would die. That is good motivation. She was speaking up because she might die. She did save the nation when she spoke to the king, but even if she didn’t, Yahweh would find another way to save the Israelites. Today, we have a better position than Esther did. She was born to save her people, and so are we.  We are not outsiders looking in, we are insiders looking out.

Rom 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Rom 8:15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Rom 8:16  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Rom 8:17  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Adoption is the word uihothesia, which comes from the word for “son” or “descendent”, uihos; and the word tithēmi, “to place or appoint”.  We are appointed descendants. We are heirs. To be an heir, klēronomos, means “lot assigned or portion parceled out”. This means that we have an allotted portion, which is already parceled out for us because we believe on Jesus as Lord and that he rose on the third day; therefore we are now adopted. We are sugklēronomos meaning “together with lot assigned” or “along with portion parceled”. We have an allotted portion together with Jesus.

We are children of the King of kings, and the Lord of lords. We are adopted and heirs of The King. With this understanding we should be full of fire for the kingdom and our King. Instead we see lukewarm evanjellyfish (evangelical jellyfish). If Esther didn’t speak up then Yahweh would find another way to save the Israelites. If we are sons and daughters of the King, shouldn’t we be acting like it? We have a better position than Esther. Maybe we were born for such an occasion as this. Notice the three young captives from Jehoiakim’s household and what they and Daniel went through. They had more conviction for Yahweh than we will ever see. They lost a lot when they were kidnapped, yet they realized the position that Judah put herself in and were willing to take the punishment for the nation.

Dan 1:3  And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;

Dan 1:4  Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, were all from Jehoiakim’s/Joakim’s household. They were all born during the reign of Josiah. After Josiah was killed, his third son Jehoahaz (aka Shallum) reigned for three months, was kidnapped by Pharaoh Necho, and then died. Jehoiakim was king for three years when these young men were kidnapped by Nebuchadnezzar.

Dan 1:6  Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

Dan 1:7  Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.

Daniel’s name was changed to Belteshazzar which means “Bel’s prince” or “who Bel favors”. When we read the apocryphal work of Daniel 14, we see a story about a temple and idol named Bel. This is the idol Daniel was named after. The three young men had their names changed as well. Hananiah/Ananiah, named Shadrach/Hadrach after a Syrian god of the seasons. Mishael/Meshach/Meshah is the name of the Chaldean sun-god. Azariah/Abednego was named after Nego or Nebo, the Chaldean name for the planet Mercury who was the “interpreter of the gods”. It was a custom that when people were kidnapped and taken to another country that the host country changed the names of those who they took in and let live. They also usually made eunuchs of all the men, which is what happened to these young men.

Dan 1:19  And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.

Dan 1:20  And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

Josephus gives us a historical record about this in Antiquities of the Jews. Josephus tells us that theses young men were kinsmen of Zedekiah. Zedekiah was a son of Josiah and the last king of Judah after Jehoahaz and Jehoiakim.

Josephus 10:10:1 BUT now Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, took some of the most noble of the Jews that were children, and the kinsmen of Zedekiah their king, such as were remarkable for the beauty of their bodies, and the comeliness of their countenances, and delivered them into the hands of tutors, and to the improvement to be made by them. He also made some of them to be eunuchs; which course he took also with those of other nations whom he had taken in the flower of their age, and afforded them their diet from his own table, and had them instructed in the institutes of the country, and taught the learning of the Chaldeans; and they had now exercised themselves sufficiently in that wisdom which he had ordered they should apply themselves to. Now among these there were four of the family of Zedekiah, of most excellent dispositions, one of whom was called Daniel, another was called Ananias, another Misael, and the fourth Azarias; and the king of Babylon changed their names, and commanded that they should make use of other names. Daniel he called Baltasar; Ananias, Shadrach; Misael, Meshach; and Azarias, Abednego. These the king had in esteem, and continued to love, because of the very excellent temper they were of, and because of their application to learning, and the profess they had made in wisdom.

The young men were made eunuchs and had their names changed. The phrase “flower of their age” would tell us they were young, teenagers, past puberty, but not old enough to marry. They had to learned the ways of Babylon. When Nebuchadnezzar had a dream that he could not remember, he called for the magicians and enchanters to tell him his dream. Daniel heard about this as well, and when Nebuchadnezzar called for all the wise men to be killed, Daniel stepped in.

Dan 2:17  Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

Dan 2:18  That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

Daniel explained the situation and then they all prayed. Daniel then reveals the dream, explaining to Nebuchadnezzar that the Elohim in heaven is a revealer of secrets.

Dan 2:28  But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

The dream concerned the latter days. We are in the latter days. We understand this dream as the ages of dominant kingdoms.

Dan 2:38  And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

There are two things here that we should notice. One is that the beasts of the fields are given into Nebuchadnezzar’s hands, but later we see that because of his pride he spends seven years as a wild animal in the field. The second thing is that Nebuchadnezzar is the head of gold. The reason that he is the head of gold is because after Judah went into captivity, Babylon was the first kingdom to keep them captive. As the kingdoms run into the ages, the kingdoms represent the nations that held Israel in captivity.

Dan 2:47  The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

Dan 2:48  Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.

Dan 2:49  Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

This is a great honor for Daniel, Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego. No doubt there were many native rulers in the kingdom who resented these young men. Even though Daniel saved the lives of all the wise men, the native Chaldeans were probably not happy that these young men took these positions in Babylon’s government.

Josephus 10:10:5 When Nebuchadnezzar heard this, and recollected his dream, he was astonished at the nature of Daniel, and fell upon his knee; and saluted Daniel in the manner that men worship God, and gave command that he should be sacrificed to as a god. And this was not all, for he also imposed the name, of his own god upon him, [Baltasar,] and made him and his kinsmen rulers of his whole kingdom; which kinsmen of his happened to fall into great danger by the envy and malice [of their enemies]; for they offended the king upon the occasion following:….

Dan 3:1  Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

We now know why Nebuchadnezzar made the image of gold. He was the head, the first king over the captive Jews and he was the king that others would remember as capturing Judah. Therefore it must have seemed logical for Nebuchadnezzar to want the kingdom to worship him as this golden image. This is what the jealous Chaldeans had to say.

Dan 3:12  There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

It would seem Nebuchadnezzar did not like these boys defying him. The young men had a wonderful answer.

Dan 3:16  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

Dan 3:17  If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

Dan 3:18  But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Daniel 3:16 G2532 And G611 answered G* Shadrach, G* Meshach, G2532 and G* Abed-nego, G3004 saying G3588   G935 to king G* Nebuchadnezzar, G3756 [3no G5532 4need G2192 2have G1473 1We] G4012 concerning G3588   G4487 this matter G3778   G611 to answer G1473 to you.

Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah say that they don’t have to answer Nebuchadnezzar because the Elohim in heaven will rescue them. But even if the Elohim does not rescue them, they are not going to serve this golden image. This is a very bold stand. But really, what do they have to lose? Their identities were changed, their ability to procreate was disabled; they were not eating dainties (which were the best foods) because they were first offered to idols. They were not living in their homeland, and they were not allowed to see their families. They did not have girlfriends or wives. They were not free young men. We do realize that while they were growing up during the years of Josiah, they had the teaching of the scriptures from Moses through to the prophets of their time, such as Isaiah and Jeremiah. Yet they could not re-read the scriptures because they were in a foreign land. They may have known their situation from Isaiah’s prophecy.

Isaiah told Hezekiah because he showed the envoy from Babylon all the treasures in his house that his sons would be taken away and made eunuchs in Babylon.

Isa 39:5  Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:

Isa 39:6  Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.

Isa 39:7  And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

Isa 39:8  Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Hezekiah missed the point. It was not good for the heirs of Hezekiah to be taken to Babylon and made eunuchs. We can see that Hezekiah realized what he did was foolish, but he was glad that he would not be punished for it. The punishment would come later. Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, were going to pay for this sin and they probably realized that Isaiah prophesied that it was they who were born for such a time as this. Therefore if they didn’t bow, maybe they wouldn’t burn.

The next section of this story is called The Prayer of Azariah or The Song of the Three Holy Children. Azarias/Azariah, who is Abdenago the “interpreter of the gods”, must have been the well spoken, eloquent one of the three.

Dan 3:23 (Brenton)  Then these three men, Sedrach, Misach, and Abdenago, fell bound into the midst of the burning furnace, and walked in the midst of the flame, singing praise to God, and blessing the Lord.

Then Azarias stood up, and prayed on this manner; and opening his mouth in the midst of the fire said,

Blessed art thou, O Lord God of our fathers: thy name is worthy to be praised and glorified for evermore: For thou art righteous in all the things that thou hast done to us: yea, true are all thy works, thy ways are right, and all thy judgments truth.

In all the things that thou hast brought upon us, and upon the holy city of our fathers, even Jerusalem, thou hast executed true judgment: for according to truth and judgment didst thou bring all these things upon us because of our sins. For we have sinned and committed iniquity, departing from thee. In all things have we trespassed, and not obeyed thy commandments, nor kept them, neither done as thou hast commanded us, that it might go well with us. Wherefore all that thou hast brought upon us, and every thing that thou hast done to us, thou hast done in true judgment.

Notice that Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah include themselves in the sin of the nation. They were not the sinful ones. But the prophecy they had most likely read was being fulfilled in real time. Now they include themselves among the sinful who departed from Yahweh. Whatever they were living through was due to Yahweh Elohim’s true judgment.

And thou didst deliver us into the hands of lawless enemies, most hateful forsakers of God, and to an unjust king, and the most wicked in all the world. And now we cannot open our mouths, we are become a shame and reproach to thy servants; and to them that worship thee.

They recognized that all of Judah was a reproach to Yahweh Elohim. These young men were paying the price for the sinful nation and the sins of Manasseh. They then pray as if they know the scriptures and Yahweh Elohim’s promises.

Yet deliver us not up wholly, for thy name's sake, neither disannul thou thy covenant: And cause not thy mercy to depart from us, for thy beloved Abraham's sake, for thy servant Isaac's sake, and for thy holy Israel's sake; To whom thou hast spoken and promised, that thou wouldest multiply their seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand that lieth upon the seashore. For we, O Lord, are become less than any nation, and be kept under this day in all the world because of our sins. Neither is there at this time prince, or prophet, or leader, or burnt offering, or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense, or place to sacrifice before thee, and to find mercy.

Nevertheless in a contrite heart and an humble spirit let us be accepted. Like as in the burnt offerings of rams and bullocks, and like as in ten thousands of fat lambs: so let our sacrifice be in thy sight this day, and grant that we may wholly go after thee: for they shall not be confounded that put their trust in thee.

“They shall not be confounded that put their trust in thee.” They pray that they are the sacrifice. They pray for them to be the sacrifice for the nation, like burnt offerings, and that they may wholly go after Yahweh.

And now we follow thee with all our heart, we fear thee, and seek thy face. Put us not to shame: but deal with us after thy lovingkindness, and according to the multitude of thy mercies.

Deliver us also according to thy marvellous works, and give glory to thy name, O Lord: and let all them that do thy servants hurt be ashamed; And let them be confounded in all their power and might, and let their strength be broken; And let them know that thou art God, the only God, and glorious over the whole world.

They pray for their deliverance, either rescue from the fire or acceptance in Yahweh’s presence. But they also pray for those hurting them. They pray that Nebuchadnezzar and those accusers would be ashamed and confounded and that they would have no strength. They pray that those hurting them would know the Elohim. Notice the two sides of their prayer, that they would become confounded and weak, and also that they would come to know the Elohim.

And the king's servants, that put them in, ceased not to make the oven hot with rosin, pitch, tow, and small wood; So that the flame streamed forth above the furnace forty and nine cubits. And it passed through, and burned those Chaldeans it found about the furnace.

The people putting them in the fire were burnt. Something happened that was unexpected. An angel shows up.

But the angel of the Lord came down into the oven together with Azarias and his fellows, and smote the flame of the fire out of the oven; And made the midst of the furnace as it had been a moist whistling wind, so that the fire touched them not at all, neither hurt nor troubled them. Then the three, as out of one mouth, praised, glorified, and blessed, God in the furnace, saying,

The angel caused the flames to go out of the oven and made the inside of the oven of fire a moist whistling wind. In other words, the angel was not alone, but an ophanim caused a whirlwind in the middle of the fire that protected Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, and pushed the flames out to burn the Chaldeans.

Blessed art thou, O Lord God of our fathers: and to be praised and exalted above all for ever. And blessed is thy glorious and holy name: and to be praised and exalted above all for ever.

Blessed art thou in the temple of thine holy glory: and to be praised and glorified above all for ever. Blessed art thou that beholdest the depths, and sittest upon the cherubims: and to be praised and exalted above all for ever. Blessed art thou on the glorious throne of thy kingdom: and to be praised and glorified above all for ever. Blessed art thou in the firmament of heaven: and above all to be praised and glorified for ever.

As they are being thrown into the fire they are praying for their rescue. As they are praying, an angel shows up and they start worshipping Yahweh Elohim. This part shows the turn of events in Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah’s situation. They started out repenting for the sins of the entire nation. They pray for their deliverance. Now they worship. This is a wonderful example for us when we pray. They continue in praise and exaltation to Yahweh. They call on the heavenly sons of God, the heavens and earth, as well as all of the created beings in creation to praise and exalt Yahweh Elohim.

O all ye works of the Lord, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever, O ye heavens, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye angels of the Lord, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O all ye waters that be above the heaven, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O all ye powers of the Lord, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever.

O ye sun and moon, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye stars of heaven, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O every shower and dew, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O all ye winds, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever, O ye fire and heat, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye winter and summer, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye dews and storms of snow, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever.

O ye nights and days, bless ye the Lord: bless and exalt him above all for ever. O ye light and darkness, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye ice and cold, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye frost and snow, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye lightnings and clouds, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever.

O let the earth bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye mountains and little hills, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O all ye things that grow in the earth, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye mountains, bless ye the Lord: Praise and exalt him above all for ever.

O ye seas and rivers, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye whales, and all that move in the waters, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O all ye fowls of the air, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O all ye beasts and cattle, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever.

Now they pray for humans to bless, praise, and exult Yahweh.

O ye children of men, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O Israel, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever.

O ye priests of the Lord, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye servants of the Lord, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye spirits and souls of the righteous, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever. O ye holy and humble men of heart, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever.

This is a wonderful prayer. Imagine praying in the middle of an oven of fire when an angel shows up, and then continue in prayer until they are called to come out of the fire. They recognize then that they have been delivered. They come walking out of the fire still praying.

O Ananias, Azarias, and Misael, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him above all for ever: for he hath delivered us from hell, and saved us from the hand of death, and delivered us out of the midst of the furnace and burning flame: even out of the midst of the fire hath he delivered us. O give thanks unto the Lord, because he is gracious: for his mercy endureth for ever.

O all ye that worship the Lord, bless the God of gods, praise him, and give him thanks: for his mercy endureth for ever.

His mercy endures forever. Nebuchadnezzar heard them singing praises. This entire event took place because Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah refused to bow. They refused to be spineless jellyfish. They refused to submit to an evil king no matter the consequences. If we are going to “go out”, we might as well “go out” taking a zealous stand for our Lord and King.

Dan 3:24  And Nabuchodonosor heard them singing praises; and he wondered, and rose up in haste, and said to his nobles, Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? and they said to the king, Yes, O king.

Dan 3:25  And the king said, But I see four men loose, and walking in the midst of the fire, and there has no harm happened to them; and the appearance of the fourth is like the Son of God.

The Son of the Elohim. The Son of the Most High. Nebuchadnezzar realized who was with them. He saw the Son of the Elohim in the fire with Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

Dan 3:26  Then Nabuchodonosor drew near to the door of the burning fiery furnace, and said, Sedrach, Misach, and Abdenago, ye servants of the most high God, proceed forth, and come hither. So Sedrach, Misach, and Abdenago, came forth out of the midst of the fire.

Dan 3:27  Then were assembled the satraps, and captains, and heads of provinces, and the royal princes; and they saw the men, and perceived that the fire had not had power against their bodies, and the hair of their head was not burnt, and their coats were not scorched, nor was the smell of fire upon them.

Dan 3:28  And king Nabuchodonosor answered and said, Blessed be the God of Sedrach, Misach, and Abdenago, who has sent his angel, and delivered his servants, because they trusted in him; and they have changed the king's word, and delivered their bodies to be burnt, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah changed the king’s, word. Now Nebuchadnezzar realized as the young men had prayed, that the Elohim of Israel was the Elohim of all Creation. Not a silly gold statue made by the hands of men.

Can you imagine what it will be like to meet these three guys one day? They were willing to die for Yahweh. They would not worship an idol. Today we have weak pastors bowing to the image. What would Shadrach, Misach and Abdenago think of us who cry and whine, when in reality our life is easy. Remember, Hezekiah made the first mistake, and these young men knew the prophecies before they happened. When they were being carried off to Babylon they probably knew that if they were allowed to live, they would be made eunuchs, as Isaiah said.

When Pharaoh Necho killed Josiah, they were probably watching the prophecies. When Jehoahaz was killed they were probably watching the prophecies. When Jehoiakim became the vassal for Nebuchadnezzar they probably knew that someone was going to Babylon. Josephus continues.

Josephus 10:10:5…..When therefore all the rest, upon the hearing of the sound of the trumpet, worshipped the image, they relate that Daniel’s kinsmen did not do it, because they would not transgress the laws of their country. So these men were convicted, and cast immediately into the fire, but were saved by Divine Providence, and after a surprising manner escaped death, for the fire did not touch them; and I suppose that it touched them not, as if it reasoned with itself, that they were cast into it without any fault of theirs, and that therefore it was too weak to burn the young men when they were in it. This was done by the power of God, who made their bodies so far superior to the fire, that it could not consume them. This it was which recommended them to the king as righteous men, and men beloved of God, on which account they continued in great esteem with him.

Josephus makes Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, out to be superheroes. Josephus says that because they were sinless the fire would not burn them and their bodies were fireproof. They didn’t bow and they didn’t burn. This should cause us to burn hot for Yahweh. This example of fearlessness should cause us to reevaluate our positions in life. Are we kneeling, bowing, and cowering? Are we making friends with the enemy hoping the enemy will be nice to us? Do we believe that passivity is the answer? Do we believe that we are not to fight against the devil, the satan, or the evil people oppressing us? What if our Bibles are confiscated? It will be too late. What if our churches are closed by rule or mandate? It will be too late.

If we remember the Maccabean era, where the Apphus brothers and the people of the region fought the Seleucids, we see that they often reminded themselves of Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. They were an example of courage to this age of people fighting to take back Jerusalem and maintain the temple. Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were taken captive around 607 BCE, and the civil war of the Maccabees started in 167 BCE. Notice that Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were inspirational to the army.

1Ma 2:59  (Brenton) Ananias, Azarias, and Misael, by believing were saved out of the flame.

3Ma 6:6  When the three friends in the land of Babylon of their own will exposed their lives to the fire rather than serve vain things, thou didst send a dewy coolness through the fiery furnace, and bring the fire upon all their adversaries.

The only place we can read of the dewy coolness in the fire is in the Septuagint or the Apocryphal works of The Prayer of Azarias or The Song of the Three Children. This was obviously a common written work at their time.

4Ma 13:9  Brothers, may we die brotherly for the law. Let us imitate the three young men in Assyria who despised the equally afflicting furnace.

4Ma 13:10  Let us not be cowards in the manifestation of piety.

Today we have a rash of cowards in the Church. As the Apphus brothers reminded themselves, if they should die, they should die for the law. There seems to be nothing worse than cowardly religious people. This is why Jesus is vomiting.

4Ma 16:21  And the righteous Daniel was cast unto the lions; and Ananias, and Azarias, and Misael, were slung out into a furnace of fire; yet they endured through God.

4Ma 16:22  You, then, having the same faith towards God, be not troubled.

4Ma 16:23  For it is unreasonable that they who know religion should not stand up against troubles.

If you know religion, if you believe you know Yahweh Elohim, then it is unreasonable for you to not stand up against any and all evil. If you believe you are a son of the Most High God, then you must know the satan’s plans for this world as he is the god of this world. It then becomes the obligation of the sons of the Most High God to enforce the Creator’s rule until the Creator calls us home. We fight the fight for our Lord Jesus. We fight the fight for the God and Father of our Lord Jesus. We have no excuse.

In basic terms, the satan’s plan is to enforce a one world government and a one world religion. We need to fight against this plan until we are no longer on the earth. We see political choices in front of us, but many are too lazy to study the details of those choices. One day we may not have the option of choice. The cure for lukewarmness is burning hot zeal for the Lord. Fight for the Lord at every turn. Don’t be afraid of the fire. The writer of Hebrews points out that there are great witnesses who have gone before us, who quenched the violence of fire. But what does the eleventh chapter of Hebrews tell us?

Heb 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Heb 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Faith is understanding hope, which is matters of proof and conviction that are not yet seen. To cure lukewarmness we have to recognize that it is faith that is lacking in our lives. We have belief, and hope, and conviction in the unseen reality. Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, had faith.

Heb 11:33  Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

Heb 11:34  Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

Heb 11:35  Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

Is any of this too hard to endure? If we think it is, we will be vomited.

Heb 11:36  And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

Heb 11:37  They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

Heb 11:38  (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

Heb 11:39  And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

Heb 11:40  God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

They will not be made perfect without us. They are waiting for us. Then the dead in Christ will rise first and we will be caught up with them. We are encompassed by all those who stood in faith and went before us. They, as well as we, are waiting for the number of the nations to come into the sheepfold, Romans 11:25.

Heb 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Run the race. Remember our study a few weeks ago, regarding no retreat and no surrender? We are in a marathon, not a skirmish. Continue to run. Notice what Jesus tells us.

Rev 3:19  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Jesus loves us, he corrects us and trains us. He then tells us to be hot, zēloō. Burn with zeal. Then repent. Repent for what? Repent for our lukewarmness. We need to change our mind and our behavior.

If the young men from Judah who were taken by Nebuchadnezzar were made into eunuchs, had their identities changed, and were never allowed to see their families again, stood strong in faith, facing a fiery furnace, then we can too. Even as they walked towards Babylon remembering Isaiah’s prophecy, they had faith for such a time as this. Maybe it is as Mordecai said, maybe we were born for this very occasion. The very occasion where we burn hot for Jesus, and push the satan and his evil plans back. The very occasion where we fight hard to keep Christianity free. Maybe we were born and adopted as Sons and Daughters of the King so that we make his kingdom known in our age of the lukewarm church. We are the authorities on the earth until we are caught up with the cloud of witnesses. What are we lacking? Faith. Faith, which is the understanding of events we hope for, but we have not yet seen.

Jesus is Outside; Installing a Vassal; Coup Without War; Zealous Zeal or Lukewarm

Biblical History has a repetitive pattern. There is nothing new under the sun. We have not learned from history. Comparing the nation of Judah as it morally and spiritually declined to the nation of the United States of America, we can see some very interesting parallels. While the prophets were warning the kings and the people about what would soon come to pass, we find that Jesus spoke to us regarding our age. What Jesus told John to write is rather scary. There is a spiritual battle going on for the soul of the United States, and if we don’t fight against the ruler of darkness then we will end up like Judah. Just before the southern kingdom went into captivity, Judah was ruled remotely by Egypt and then by Babylon. Judah also paid taxes to those kingdoms, and the kings of Judah were just governors for those other countries. Jesus warned the world that in the last days the church would become lukewarm. Similarly, Judah became lukewarm spiritually, not fighting against evil. Daniel tells us that Judah was shameful and that there were unjust judges who brought more evil into Judah. While prophets warned the nation of Judah, we have the documented words of Jesus who tells us he is vomiting out those who are lukewarm.

Jesus told John to write the Revelation that God gave Jesus. While we can still hear from prophets today, we should take Jesus’ words a bit more seriously.

Rev 1:1  The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

Rev 1:2  Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

Rev 1:3  Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

The time of the church age and the end of the age of man was at hand. From the time of Jesus’ death until today, 1,988 years have passed. We are close to the end of our age.

Rev 1:4  John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

Jesus was, he is, and he is coming. This message is for our understanding. In fact, the things written before time are for our learning.

Rom 15:4  For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Learning the past is for our benefit. We can have hope. What is a coup d` état and how does that affect us today? We have many enemies that would like to over take the free world, and what is happening today is similar to Judah’s last years. Let’s explore.

2Ki 23:29 (Brenton) And in his days went up Pharao Nechao king of Egypt against the king of the Assyrians to the river Euphrates: and Josias went out to meet him: and Nechao slew him in Mageddo when he saw him.

Josiah the king, who cleaned up Judah and reinstated the passover, was killed. The Lord did not turn his wrath away from Judah because of Manasseh’s sin. This tells us that there were still people practicing the occultic worship which Manasseh had brought into Israel. Even though Manasseh repented, many people did not.

2Ki 23:31 (Brenton) Twenty and three years old was Joachaz when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Amital, daughter of Jeremias of Lobna.

2Ki 23:32  And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers did.

2Ki 23:33  And Pharao Nechao removed him to Rablaam in the land of Emath, so that he should not reign in Jerusalem; and imposed a tribute on the land, a hundred talents of silver, and a hundred talents of gold.

Jehoahaz/Joachaz begins to reign, but Pharaoh Nechoh/Nechao removes him. Nechoh had technically become a ruler over Judah. This is called a coup d`état. The Egyptian government assumed power over Judah without a war or a battle. Josiah was killed and Nechoh controlled Joachaz. Judah didn’t fight or rebel. Nechoh imposed a tribute or a tax which all the people paid. This starts to sound very familiar to our time. Someone in another country wants to rule over us, imposing taxes that we have to pay. It almost sounds like something called The Paris Accord, or The Green New Deal.

A few years ago someone essentially paid $150 billion in cash to an enemy government. This is a tax as it is taxpayer money. There was an additional $180 billion in hush money paid out with money belonging to the people of the United States. Central Bankers also impose taxes on the people who are paying back the loans of the government. Recently someone made a proposal for all people working from home to pay a $10 per day tax. Another proposal was 5% of an annual salary. We are forced to stay home and work, but now we are going to be punished for it. How can someone who is unelected decide to tax citizens of the United States? Who is in-charge?

Nechoh then goes on to change out the government, making Joakim/Jehoiakim king of Judah.

2Ki 23:34 (Brenton) And Pharao Nechao made Eliakim son of Josias king of Juda king over them in the place of his father Josias, and he changed his name to Joakim, and he took Joachaz and brought him to Egypt, and he died there.

2Ki 23:35  And Joakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharao; but he assessed the land to give the money at the command of Pharao: they gave the silver and the gold each man according to his assessment together with the people of the land to give to Pharao Nechao.

Imagine what was happening among the people of Judah. Josiah had tried to clean up their spiritual idolatry, even having a passover, but there still must have been many people “double dipping” or practicing service to other gods as well as Yahweh. Yahweh honored Josiah, but his sons were evil.

2Ki 23:36 (Brenton) Twenty-five years old was Joakim when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jeldaph, daughter of Phadail of Ruma.

2Ki 23:37  And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the lord, according to all that his fathers had done.

Nechoh put Joakim/Jehoiakim in charge. How is it that Judah was not fighting against this? Judah lost her ability to govern herself. This was a soft coup or a silent coup. Instead of fighting with all the people, Nechoh killed two kings. Did Nechoh have a legal right to do this? Where was the army? The people didn’t even respond. Joakim was a vassal, a governor instead of a king, and he then collected money from the people for Nechoh.

Chronicles describes this time as well. Jehoiakim/Joakim reigned but he wasn’t really in charge, Necho was in charge. That seems bad enough but Jehoiakim was also evil.

2Ch 36:4 (Brenton) And Pharao Nechao made Eliakim the son of Josias king over Juda in the room of his father Josias, and changed his name to Joakim. And Pharao Nechao took his brother Joachaz and brought him into Egypt, and he died there: but he had given the silver and gold to Pharao. At that time the land began to be taxed to give the money at the command of Pharao; and every one as he could borrowed the silver and the gold of the people of the land, to give to Pharao Nechao.

2Ch 36:5  Joachim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Zechora, daughter of Nerias of Rama. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers did. In his days came Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon into the land, and he served him three years, and then revolted from him. And the Lord sent against them the Chaldeans, and plundering parties of Syrians, and plundering parties of the Moabites, and of the children of Ammon, and of Samaria; but after this they departed, according to the word of the Lord by the hand of his servants the prophets. Nevertheless the wrath of the Lord was upon Juda, so that they should be removed from his presence, because of the sins of Manasses in all that he did, and for the innocent blood which Joakim shed, for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; yet the Lord would not utterly destroy them.

“Shedding innocent blood” encompasses many things. It can be a combination of abortions, sacrifices to Moloch and Baal, pedophilia, sending people into a battle they will not win, unjust judgments against the innocent, or simply murdering people who oppose Joakim. It also may have encompassed many people shedding innocent blood, not just Joakim. “Innocent” means the people were guileless, which also tells us that they could have been Zadok/Zedek priests like Jeremiah. Remember, it was Joakim who burned the prophecies of Yahweh from Jeremiah. What is even more evil, as the people were paying taxes to Nechoh, Joakim was building himself palaces and several homes with forced labor of the Israelites. So not only were the people paying Nechoh, they were forced to build and pay for several palaces for the fake king.

The Zadok/Zedek priests ministered alongside the Levites, but were not Levites, they were from the order of Melchizedek (Shem). They had resided in Jebus when David merged them with the tabernacle service, and later Solomon’s temple. The vessels, the items used in ministering to Yahweh, were taken to Babylon.

2Ch 36:6  (KJV) Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.

2Ch 36:7  Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.

2Ch 36:8  Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

Joakim/Jehoiakim became a vassal to Nabuchodonosor/Nebuchadnezzar. He was a governor instead of a king. He was an administrator. This was a coup, a soft coup once again. The first two worked pretty well so why wouldn’t Nabuchodonosor do the same? This is the time when Daniel was also taken captive to Babylon.

Dan 1:1 (Brenton) In the third year of the reign of Joakim king of Juda, came Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon to Jerusalem, and besieged it.

Dan 1:2  And the Lord gave into his hand Joakim king of Juda, and part of the vessels of the house of God: and he brought them into the land of Sennaar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.

Dan 1:3  And the king told Asphanez his chief eunuch, to bring in some of the captive children of Israel, and of the seed of the kingdom, and of the princes;

Dan 1:4  young men in whom was no blemish, and beautiful in appearance, and skilled in all wisdom, and possessing knowledge, and acquainted with prudence, and who had ability to stand in the house before the king, and the king gave commandment to teach them the learning and language of the Chaldeans.

Nabuchodonosor took Joakim’s household to Babylon. Joakim had no power over anyone, yet we see that he rebelled against Nabuchodonosor. Is it possible that the people were willing to submit to Nabuchodonosor just as long as they were left alone? Is it possible they were lukewarm regarding the kidnapping of Daniel and the rest of the young men of Joakim’s household.

2Ki 24:1 (Brenton) In his days went up Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and Joakim became his servant three years; and then he turned and revolted from him.

After three years Joakim rebelled against Nabuchodonosor. In total he was a king for eleven years. Jeremiah brought the word of Yahweh to him but he rejected it.

Jer 1:1 (Brenton) The word of God which came to Jeremias the son of Chelcias, of the priests, who dwelt in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:

Jer 1:2  accordingly as the word of God came to him in the days of Josias son of Amos king of Juda, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

Jer 1:3  And it was in the days of Joakim, son of Josias king of Juda, until the eleventh year of Sedekias king of Juda, even until the captivity of Jerusalem in the fifth month.

After eleven years Joakim was kidnapped by Nabuchodonosor. He was  imprisoned and eventually killed. No one mourned his death.

Jeremiah was a prophet from the time of Josiah to the captivity of the southern kingdom. This is what Yahweh told Jeremiah:

Jer 1:10  Behold, I have appointed thee this day over nations and over kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to rebuild, and to plant.

Yahweh called Jeremiah to speak to nations. Notice the “rooting out and pulling down of nations” because of the power of Jeremiah’s words from Yahweh. There will also be rebuilding and planting. Jeremiah prophesied that Judah would be in captivity seventy years and then they would return.

While Joakim was building palaces and collecting taxes for Nechoh and Nabuchodonosor, Yahweh said this:

Jer 25:1  THE WORD THAT CAME TO JEREMIAS concerning all the people of Juda in the fourth year of Joakim, son of Josias, king of Juda;

Jer 25:2  which he spoke to all the people of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,

Jer 25:3  In the thirteenth year of Josias, son of Amos, king of Juda, even until this day for three and twenty years, I have both spoken to you, rising early and speaking,

Jer 25:4  and I sent to you my servants the prophets, sending them early; (but ye hearkened not, and listened not with your ears;) saying,

Jer 25:5  Turn ye every one from his evil way, and from your evil practices, and ye shall dwell in the land which I gave to you and your fathers, of old and for ever.

Jer 25:6  Go ye not after strange gods, to serve them, and to worship them, that ye provoke me not by the works of your hands, to do you hurt.

Jer 25:7  But ye hearkened not to me.

Jer 25:8  Therefore thus saith the Lord; Since ye believed not my words,

Jer 25:9  behold I will send and take a family from the north, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants of it, and against all the nations round about it, and I will make them utterly waste, and make them a desolation, and a hissing, and an everlasting reproach.

Jer 25:10  And I will destroy from among them the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the scent of ointment, and the light of a candle.

Jer 25:11  And all the land shall be a desolation; and they shall serve among the Gentiles seventy years.

Jer 25:12  And when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will take vengeance on that nation, and will make them a perpetual desolation.

Jer 25:13  And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have spoken against it, even all things that are written in this book.

The captivity was prophesied by Jeremiah. In fact, Daniel prepared the people when the seventy years were fulfilled. These soft coups, where other countries rule by way of compromised leadership are still used today. If a country can control another country without starting a war, why wouldn’t they? We have similar situations in the United States as well. Communism is always trying to overtake the free world. The globalists are always trying to de-populate. The dominant rulers are always trying to elevate themselves while holding down the masses. But in our time this problem goes deeper.

While Judaism is/was a law and religion, meaning the people were under the law to practice religious service. If they didn’t adhere to religious service, they were breaking the law. In our day Christianity is separate from government mandate. No one has enacted a law to make us go to church. If our government is good or evil it is a separate issue from a Christian mandate. The problem we have is that churches have freedom to choose what they will teach. While that sounds nice, in the course of the ages we find that we are in the time period where Jesus isn’t in the church. Jesus told us that this would be the case and he told us why.

This is the same problem the people had when Josiah was king. There must have been a lot of lukewarm people in Judah, because Yahweh was holding them accountable for the idolatry and demonic service Manasseh instituted in Judah. So while Manasseh repented and king Josiah cleaned up the country, people did not clean up their own hearts. Even though Josiah instituted a passover, maybe not everyone was excited to participate, but it was the law. Today, no one forces us to participate in Christian rites. We have the choice. But it seems in our age of the Laodicean Church, we choose fat and happy. We choose not to stand up against evil. Jesus is going door to door, witnessing, looking for people who might want to choose life. Why can’t he come to the church? Have many church goers and church leaders become a vassal for a hostile government? We know that some church leaders are getting paid to oppose Christianity in its basic forms and tenets and instead promote global elitism which they hope to be a part of.

Revelation 3:14 G2532 And G3588 to the G32 angel G3588 of the G1722 [2in G* Laodicea G1577 1assembly] G1125 write! G3592 Thus G3004 says G3588 the G281 amen, G3588 the G3144 [4witness G3588   G4103 1trustworthy G2532 2and G228 3true], G3588 the G746 source G3588 of the G2937 creation G3588   G2316 of God.

Jesus has been announcing himself to the seven churches. The angels of the churches are the angels monitoring the churches. These are seven physical churches, and seven ages of the church. In time, we have gone through each church period almost two thousand years since Jesus died,  until we come to our age, the Laodicean age.

Jesus says that he is the archē beginning or chief of the original formation of the Elohim. As Paul told us, everything was created by Him, for Him, and through Him, for His purposes. Our Creator is speaking to us here. He has something to say to us.

Revelation 3:15 G1492 I know G1473 your G3588   G2041 works, G3754 that G3777 [2neither G5593 3cold G1510.2.2 1you are] G3777 nor G2200 boiling hot; G3784 ought G5593 [2cold G1510.3 1you should be] G2228 or G2200 boiling hot.

ζεστός

2b) in mind: of one destitute of warm Christian faith and the desire for holiness

ψυχρός

psuchros psoo-chros' From G5592; chilly (literally or figuratively) KJV Usage: cold.

Our Creator knows our works and deeds. He knows that we are not hot or cold. Our Creator wants us to pick, hot or cold. What are we supposed to be hot or cold for? Him. This is the plight of our age. Where is our zeal for Jesus? Where is our zest for Jesus? Shouldn’t we be zealous for Him?

When we hire hirelings/hired servants, they are concerned with adding more sheep, they don’t want to be perceived as too hot because the non-believers may not want to come to church. As long as the heat is controlled, the hireling believes he can gain more people. But the hireling that takes the heat out of the called out, ends up rejecting Jesus. The hireling who wants to control the temperature also causes the called out to cool down, not stand strong, then people lose faith until they are compromising with the world.

Revelation 3:16 G3779 Thus, G3754 because G5513 you are lukewarm, G1510.2.2   G2532 and G3756 not G2200 boiling hot G3777 nor G5593 cold, G3195 I am about G1473 to vomit you G1692   G1537 from out of G3588   G4750 my mouth. G1473

2) metaph. of the condition of the soul wretchedly fluctuating between a torpor and a fervour of love

χλιαρός

chliaros khlee-ar-os' From χλίω chliō (to warm); tepid KJV Usage: lukewarm.

“Thus because you are tepid, and not boiling and not chilly, I intend to vomit forth from out of the mouth.”

The lukewarm people of our age are going to be vomited out of the Creator’s mouth. Jesus would rather us be boiling hot, or ice cube cold. But being lukewarm is not palatable. Is this why Jesus is not in the church? He is looking for hot people because with hot or cold people everyone knows where they stand. The lukewarm people are wishy-washy. They compromise when they shouldn’t. They don’t stand up for Jesus. They don’t fight. How many churches have taken up today’s fight?

If we look at recent examples of communism, we see that the people are promised many things, but it never lasts long. After a while, communism imposes its own state religion or overrides all religion. Once the people have been lukewarm for a while they don’t bother to fight any more. Would it be better to have a Bible with the words that Jesus spoke, or a Bible with all the red letters torn out? Would it be better to have the ten commandments or the ten sayings of the country’s leader? Would it be better to worship Yahweh or the political party?

Revelation 3:17 G3754 For G3004 you say G3754 that, G4145 I am rich G1510.2.1   G2532 and G4147 am enriched, G2532 and G3762 [2no G5532 3need G2192 1have]. G2532 And G3756 you do not G1492 know G3754 that G1473 you G1510.2.2 are G3588 the G5005 miserable, G2532 and G3588 the G1652 pitiable, G2532 and G4434 poor, G2532 and G5185 blind, G2532 and G1131 naked.

Jesus points out, the lukewarm people of our age say that they are rich and wealthy and have no needs. It is interesting that these people do not realize that their earthly riches are really nothing compared to what Jesus has for us. This makes them lukewarm. There seems to be nothing more dangerous than a lukewarm hireling. When the wolves come the lukewarm hireling runs away. The lukewarm congregation invites the wolves in and attempts to make friends with them.

Revelation 3:18 G4823 I advise G1473 you G59 to buy G5553 gold G3844 from G1473 me G4448 purified G1537 by G4442 fire, G2443 that G4147 you should be rich, G2532 and G2440 [4garments G3022 3 with white G2443 1that G4016 2you should be covered], G2532 and G3361 [4should not G5319 5be made manifest G3588 1the G152 2shame G3588   G1132 3of your nakedness]; G1473   G2532 and G2854 [2collyrium G1472 1rub] G1909 upon G3588   G3788 your eyes, G1473   G2443 that G991 you should see!

Jesus tells the people of our age to work for him instead of for themselves. He tells us to rub a poultice over our eyes to fix our vision. Something to think about here is the abundance of medications we have. In our age, we have more manmade cures than at any other time in the last two thousand years. What I find interesting is that we are more sickly than we should be. Is that also our problem, misplaced trust?

Revelation 3:19 G1473 I, G3745 as many as G1437 I should G5368 be fond of, G1651 I reprove G2532 and G3811 I correct. G2206 Be zealous G3767 then G2532 and G3340 repent!

Jesus loves us so he reproves us. Imagine having to reprove an entire age. Calling us to repent of our lukewarmness is important for us. We don’t know what year of the age of the Laodicean church we are in. Therefore our repentance and change is important now.

Revelation 3:20 G2400 Behold, G2476 I stand G1909 at G3588 the G2374 door G2532 and G2925 knock; G1437 if G5100 any G191 should hear G3588   G5456 my voice, G1473   G2532 and G455 should open G3588 the G2374 door, G2532 even G1525 I will enter G4314 to G1473 him, G2532 and G1172 have supper G3326 with G1473 him, G2532 and G1473 he G3326 with G1473 me.

Jesus wants to eat at our house; he is knocking at the door. Instead of coming to the church to find hot believers he is going door to door in the community. Does this tell us that many churches are lukewarm? Why is Jesus outside? Why is he knocking on the doors of individuals? Why is he waiting for an invitation in? Wouldn’t we all love it if Jesus came for dinner?

If we are lukewarm we will allow governments to overtake our freedom to assemble. If we are lukewarm we will compromise when someone takes our Bible from us. If we are lukewarm we will submit to authorities that want to erase Jesus from history and our hearts. When we are lukewarm we will stop singing praises because unelected officials in our government say so. The only people standing against the satan and standing against his complete take over of the United States are people who are hot.

Revelation 3:21 G3588 The one G3528 overcoming G1325 I will give G1473 to him G2523 to sit G3326 with G1473 me G1722 on G3588   G2362 my throne, G1473   G5613 as G2504 even I G3528 overcame G2532 and G2523 sat G3326 with G3588   G3962 my father G1473   G1722 on G3588   G2362 his throne. G1473

We have to overcome lukewarmness. We have to be hot for Jesus. We seem to make Jesus sick, as he vomits us out of his mouth due to our lukewarm behavior. It seems as if it is hard to be hot for Jesus because we like our comfort. Our age is not as spectacular as we might think. We really are pathetic and blind.

Let’s just assume that each of the seven ages is about 285.5 years long. Out of two thousand years, from 32 AD when Jesus was crucified, takes us to about the year 1745 as to when our age of the lukewarm church started. People were coming to the “new world” to flee religious persecution. Thirty years later when the English King, George lll, tried to impose taxes and random laws, the people rose up and fought against him. In doing so they preserved freedom of religion in the Constitution of the United States of America. While that is a wonderful contract, it caused people to not have to fight to assemble. When we are threatened with that freedom being taken away, we do not know how to fight. We have not had to. We are lukewarm, comfortable, and rich. In this last church age, Jesus isn’t inside the church, he is out in the communities going door to door. He isn’t looking to add the nations from inside the buildings, he is adding to the numbers from outside the building, Romans 11:25, the fullness of the nations.

Like Laodicea, our church age in the United States has had very little persecution. The church has never been in danger of being eliminated in the USA. That is up until now. There are several other countries attempting to control the United States. They have tried to subvert our elections. If you don’t believe Christianity is at stake, what does Christianity look like in those countries who are trying to dominate us? If we look at China, Christianity doesn’t have a voice at all. In Iran, Christians are persecuted. In Europe, Christianity is not predominant but has given in to Islam. In Venezuela and Cuba, Christianity doesn’t stand up for the people but allows the government to treat citizens unjustly. It is easy to see how and why our enemies want to install a vassal in the United States. After our enslavement to another government we will not have an opportunity to regain our Christian voice. It will be too late and impossible.

Jeremiah warned the people of Judah repeatedly for many years. He told them what was going to happen after Josiah. Josiah’s sons became puppets for other governments, and then the entire kingdom fell. If we want Yahweh to fight for us, we have to become hot. Jesus told us that He is not inside, but that He is outside, knocking.

Daniel knew the seventy years of captivity was over, so he prayed. Daniel took Jeremiah’s prophecy seriously. He also did exactly what we should be doing. He prayed and fasted.

Dan 9:1  In the first year of Darius the son of Assuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who reigned over the kingdom of the Chaldeans,

Dan 9:2  I Daniel understood by books the number of the years which was the word of the Lord to the prophet Jeremias, even seventy years for the accomplishment of the desolation of Jerusalem.

Dan 9:3  And I set my face toward the Lord God, to seek him diligently by prayer and supplications, with fastings and sackcloth.

Daniel diligently prayed and fasted. We should do the same, and set our face toward Yahweh Elohim.

Dan 9:4  And I prayed to the Lord my God, and confessed, and said, O Lord, the great and wonderful God, keeping thy covenant and thy mercy to them that love thee, and to them that keep thy commandments; we have sinned,

Did Daniel sin? No. But he prayed including himself with the nation. When people in certain states change laws decriminalizing drugs and pedophilia, and allow late term abortion, then we are all included in the sin.

Dan 9:5  we have done iniquity, we have transgressed, and we have departed and turned aside from thy commandments and from thy judgments:

Dan 9:6  and we have not hearkened to thy servants the prophets, who spoke in thy name to our kings, and our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

There have been many prophets and prophetic warnings for us. We usually don’t like to hear warnings. Some hirelings even claim that prophecies are only for edification and not foretelling, thereby dismissing all warnings. No one will catch fire for Jesus without understanding the consequences of our lukewarmness.

Dan 9:7  To thee, O Lord, belongs righteousness, an to us confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Juda, and to the dwellers in Jerusalem, and to all Israel, to them that are near, and to them that are far off in all the earth, wherever thou has scattered them, for the sin which they committed.

Dan 9:8  In thee, O Lord, is our righteousness, and to us belongs confusion of faced, and to our kings, and to our princes, and to our fathers, forasmuch as we have sinned.

The word translated confusion here is the word aischunē meaning “shame or disgrace”. The people are shameful, and the people are disgraced, not confused. At this point the entire nation was in captivity for seventy years. The first group to go into captivity was Joakim’s household. The second group to go was Ezekiel’s group. The third group was the rest of Judah. At that time Ezekiel saw the angels marking those who mourned for the temple. The others were allowed to be slain. So the people in captivity were not necessarily the sinners. They were the ones who mourned for the temple. The sad part is that they were the lukewarm people, they were not aggressively calling for holiness. They probably enjoyed Josiah’s cleaning up of Judah, but they didn’t help the sinners to understand why the passover was important. They let the sinners do what they wanted to do.

Dan 9:9  To thee, the Lord our God, belong compassions and forgivenesses, whereas we have departed from thee;

Dan 9:10  neither have we hearkened to the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by the hands of his servants the prophets.

Dan 9:11  Moreover all Israel have transgressed thy law, and have refused to hearken to thy voice; so the curse has come upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.

All of Israel was living under the curses that Moses told them would take place if they did not follow Yahweh, Deuteronomy 28.

Dan 9:12  And he has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us, and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us great evils, such as have not happened under the whole heaven, according to what has happened in Jerusalem.

There were unjust judges in all of Israel. They were judging against the people, bringing great evil. This is a tactic of the satan. Bring litigations to unjust judges in the courts to impose contrary laws and rules, rather than letting the people vote for laws. They cannot win if the righteous vote, so the strategy is to usurp the will of the people via unjust judges who bring great evil into the nation.

Dan 9:13  As it is written in the law of Moses, all these evils have come upon us: yet we have not besought the Lord our God, that we might turn away from our iniquities, and have understanding in all thy truth.

Dan 9:14  The Lord also has watched, and brought the evils upon us: for the Lord our God is righteous in all his work which he has executed, but we have not hearkened to his voice.

They were warned by Moses. The prophets told them. Not enough people listened. The hierarchies became corrupt and the people had been suppressed. Over four hundred years of temple defilement put Judah in this position. The people became lukewarm. Remember what happened to the tribe of Benjamin? Almost all twelve tribes came against them and killed them for their sin. They had to find other people to procreate and call them the tribe of Benjamin. We don’t fight for righteousness anymore.

Dan 9:15  And now, O Lord our God, who broughtest thy people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and madest to thyself a name, as at this day; we have sinned, we have transgressed.

Dan 9:16  O Lord, thy mercy is over all: let, I pray thee, thy wrath turn away, and thine anger from thy city Jerusalem, even thy holy mountain: for we have sinned, and because of our iniquities, and those of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach among all that are round about us.

Dan 9:17  And now, O lord our God, hearken to the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine on thy desolate sanctuary, for thine own sake, O Lord.

Dan 9:18  Incline thine ear, O my God, and hear; open thine eyes and behold our desolation, and that of thy city on which thy name is called: for we do not bring our pitiful case before thee on the ground of our righteousness, but on the ground of thy manifold compassions, O Lord.

Dan 9:19  Hearken, O Lord; be propitious, O Lord; attend, O Lord; delay not, O my God, for thine own sake: for thy name is called upon thy city and upon thy people.

Daniel prays for Yahweh not to hear his pitiful case because of their righteousness, but because of Yahweh’s manifold compassion. The time of the captivity was ending. Daniel was praying for all of Israel, but also for Jerusalem. Daniel was around 90 years old. He never went back to Jerusalem. But he was able to see that people did return to Judah. It wasn’t all smooth sailing when they did go back, they had people opposing them. Those who went back built their own houses first. The lukewarmness didn’t leave until after the temple was rebuilt and Ezra and Nehemiah dedicated it. Yet Judah was still under foreign rule. Israel is barely under her own rule today, meaning, while the nation is established, other world leaders weigh in on their inner conflicts. They are told how to behave.

The problem with lukewarmness is it allows others to control the nation. It allowed evil to rise up. It allows others to direct the lives of the Christian. Just like Judah, Christians are allowing others to manage the nation and not fighting for what is good and right. How many lawsuits have been made against Christians and Christianity, forcing people to go against their spiritual beliefs? Unjust judges are causing great evil, such as California now allowing judges to decide whether raping a child is a criminal offense.

Staying lukewarm means Jesus vomits us out of his mouth. We are shameful for not being hot for Jesus. We are shameful for not fighting for Him on the earth. We have allowed the hirelings to tell us that we cannot be too hot or others won’t come to visit our church. We have allowed the hirelings to bow to the wolves and they have told the church body to compromise with the wolves. There is no compromise. We are in a long race that we cannot lose if we are hot. There is no retreat, and there is no surrender. We know if we are hot and we know if we are lukewarm. It is time for the church to arise and take her rightful place in the nations. Fight for the overthrow of evil. Fight to dismiss unjust judges. Fight to remove the puppets who have sold us out. Fight until Jesus returns. Don’t be among the lukewarm who go along with evil, Jesus will vomit out the lukewarm. Come out from blindness and work for Jesus.
