The Day of the Lord; The Eradication of the Sons of the Nephilim; The Sheep and Goats; Taken and Left; After Megiddo

In the Bible there are many different prophets telling us about the Day of the Lord. Jesus told us about this time as well. It can be confusing to put it all together. The Day of the Lord has several different aspects. Jesus comes with his armies to battle at Megiddo. After Megiddo people who died in that battle, as well as all people left on the earth who were not among the army of saints, will be judged in the Valley of Jehoshaphat. People will rise up from the dead. There will also be a judgment of the descendants of the Nephilim. Then there will be a judgment of sheep and goats. Joel tells us of this time and place and encourages everyone to repent. This is important because the spiritual sons of Jacob will live in Israel, in safety, for one thousand years, if they have repented and torn their heart.

Joel tells the people to return to the Lord with their entire heart.

Joel 2:12 G2532 And G3568 now, G3004 says G2962 the lord, G1994 Return G4314 to G1473 me G1537 with G3650 [2entire G3588   G2588 3heart G1473 1your] G1722 in G3521 fasting, G2532 and G2805 weeping, G2532 and G2870 beating of the breast!

kakia kak-ee'-ah From G2556; badness, that is, (subjectively) depravity, or (actively) malignity, or (passively) trouble KJV Usage: evil, malice (-iousness), naughtiness, wickedness.

The prophets always call for repentance and change of heart. Why? Because if one calls on the name of the Lord, that one will be delivered. But there’s more. When Jesus came to earth, what was the message to the people? Repent. Many believed on Jesus as the Christ and repented. What was the message after Jesus ascended? Repent. Many did repent.  After repenting, or in the midst of tearing one’s heart instead of one’s clothes, and weeping, fasting, and returning to the Lord, the Lord will pour out the Holy Spirit upon all flesh. The Holy Spirit was poured out, this is a pivot point in time. Peter attests to this day, the day of Pentecost, in Acts 2.

Joel 2:28 G2532 And G1510.8.3 it will be G3326 after G3778 these things, G1632 I will pour out G575 from G3588   G4151 my spirit G1473   G1909 upon G3956 all G4561 flesh; G2532 and G4395 [4shall prophesy G5207 1your sons G1473   G2532 2and G3588   G2364 3your daughters], G1473   G2532 and G3588   G4245 your older men G1473   G1798 [2dreams G1797 1shall dream], G2532 and G3588   G3495 your young men G1473   G3706 [2visions G3708 1shall see].

3326 LSJ Gloss:μετά in the midst of, among with gen., dat., and acc.

4561 LSJ Gloss:σάρξ flesh
Dodson:σάρξ flesh, body flesh, body, human nature, materiality; kindred.
Thayer:

2b) used of natural or physical origin, generation or relationship
2b1) born of natural generation

2c2) the animal nature with cravings which incite to sin
2c3) the physical nature of man as subject to suffering
3) a living creature (because possessed of a body of flesh) whether man or beast
4) the flesh, denotes mere human nature, the earthly nature of man apart from divine influence, and therefore prone to sin and opposed to God

σάρξ
sarx sarx Probably from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), that is, (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred, or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specifically) a human being (as such) KJV Usage: carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly]).

The Spirit is poured out on every kind of body; young, old, male, and female. All flesh. There are non believers who dream dreams, then may come to the Lord. There are non believers of Jesus as Messiah who see visions, and then they may also come to know the Lord. However, some may not come to the Lord. So while people may prophesy and elements of those prophecies may be accurate, one cannot trust the words of a non-believer in Christ, such as Nostradamus and the Sybil.

Does this include animals? Maybe. We don’t know of any animals who have dreams or visions of the future because they can’t communicate with us. But the Bible tells us of a donkey who spoke to the prophet and saw the Angel of the Lord. Two female bears were under the authority of Elisha when he and Elijah were being mocked by some young men. The Lord told the animals to get on board the ark before the flood. While these are Old Covenant examples, we have many modern day examples of animals warning humans, physically saving humans, and even sensing something medically wrong within humans. Is it possible that animals respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit? Sure. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Joel 2:29 G2532 And G1065 even G1909 upon G3588 the G1401 manservants, G2532 and G1909 upon G3588 the G1399 maidservants, G1722 in G3588   G2250 those days G1565   G1632 I will pour out G575 from G3588   G4151 my spirit. G1473
  30 G2532 And G1325 I shall execute G5059 miracles G1722 in G3588 the G3772 heaven, G2532 and G1909 upon G3588 the G1093 earth -- G129 blood, G2532 and G4442 fire, G2532 and G822 vapor G2586 of smoke.
  31 G3588 The G2246 sun G3344 shall convert G1519 into G4655 darkness, G2532 and G3588 the G4582 moon G1519 into G129 blood, G4250 before G2064 the coming G3588 of the G2250 [4day G2962 5 of the lord G3588   G3173 1great G2532 2and G2016 3apparent].
  32 G2532 And G1510.8.3 it will be G3956 all G3739 who G302 ever G1941 shall call upon G3588 the G3686 name G2962 of the lord G4982 shall be delivered. G3754 For G1722 in G3588   G3735 mount G* Zion G2532 and G1722 in G* Jerusalem G1510.8.3 shall be G391.2 one rescuing, G2530 as G2036 [3said G3588 1the G2962 2 lord]; G2532 and G2097 one announcing good news G3739 of which G3588 the G2962 lord G4341 was called upon.

Again, Joel the prophet gives encouragement in how to avoid the Day of the Lord and the Valley of Decision. Repent and call on the Lord. This Valley of Jehoshaphat is located in the Kidron Valley, aka the Silwan Valley. It is directly below the Mount of Olives. Megiddo is far north of this area. After the battle at Megiddo, the Lord takes His people to the Kidron Valley, the valley of Jehoshaphat. This area is a present day grave site. It is the place of Uzziah’s earthquake and the place the tombs opened when Jesus died.

Joel 3:1 G3754 For G2400 behold, G1473 I G1722 in G3588   G2250 those days G1565   G2532 and G1722 in G3588   G2540 that time, G1565   G3752 whenever G1994 [6shall return G3588 1the G161 2captivity G* 3of Judah G2532 4and G* 5Jerusalem],
  2 G4863 I will gather G3956 all G3588 the G1484 nations, G2532 and G2609 I will lead G1473 them G1519 into G3588 the G2835.1 valley G* of Jehoshaphat. G2532 And G1252 I will litigate G4314 with G1473 them G1563 there G5228 for G3588   G2992 my people, G1473   G2532 and G3588   G2817 my inheritance G1473   G* Israel, G3739 whom G1289 I dispersed G1722 among G3588 the G1484 nations, G2532 even G3588 the one G1093 [2my land G1473   G2612.1 1 who divided].

1252 LSJ Gloss:διακρίνω to separate one from another

2) to learn by discrimination, to try, decide
2a) to determine, give judgment, decide a dispute
3) to withdraw from one, desert
4) to separate one's self in a hostile spirit, to oppose, strive with dispute, contend

διακρίνω

This is the place of separation. Who will be separated? The one billion or so people who just tried to fight the Lord will be separated from His called, chosen, and faithful as well as those who call upon the Lord. Zacharias tells us of this place on the Day of the Lord. He says the Lord comes with His saints.

3 And the Lord shall go forth, and fight with those Gentiles as when he fought in the day of war. 4 And his feet shall stand in that day on the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave asunder, half of it toward the east and the west, a very great division; and half the mountain shall lean to the north, and half of it to the south. 5 And the valley of my mountains shall be closed up, and the valley of the mountains shall be joined on to Jasod, and shall be blocked up as it was blocked up in the days of the earthquake, in the days of Ozias king of Juda; and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with him. 6 And it shall come to pass in that day that there shall be no light, 7 and there shall be for one day cold and frost, and that day shall be known to the Lord, and it shall not be day nor night: but towards evening it shall be light.

All the nations will be gathered to the Kidron Valley, the region of graves. The Lord is going to separate His people from the nations. Jesus told us that he will bring them back from the ends of heaven and earth as we will look at shortly. This is the time of the revealing of the Lord, the epiphany, and the apocalypse.

There is a certain group that will be judged here first. The descendants of the fallen angels.

Joel 3:3 G2532 And G1909 [3over G3588   G2992 4my people G1473   G906 1they cast G2819 2lots]; G2532 and G1325 gave G3588 the G3808 boys G4204 to harlots, G2532 and G3588 [2the G2877 3young women G4453 1sold] G473 for G3588   G3631 wine, G2532 and G4095 drank.

φυλή
phulē foo-lay' From G5453 (compare G5444); an offshoot, that is, race or clan KJV Usage: kindred, tribe.

What are these “different tribes”? These different type of peoples, or race of people, are not the nations, they are not Goy or Goyim, nations or ethnos. These are Philistines. The word philistines was not the name for one specific nation of giants, but it was the name of a nation of mixed tribes of giants, the descendants of the Nephilim. Some of the heirs of the Nephilim were living in Canaan and Joshua was supposed to kill all of them. However, one of the tribes, the Gibeonites, got crafty and pretended to be poor people who offered to serve Joshua. Joshua made a deal to not kill them, not knowing their true identity. Joshua had to abide by the deal because they swore an oath (Joshua 9, See also Joshua 11-ff and Judges 1 & 2). Some of the remaining heirs of the Nephilim lived in the area of Philista. These mixed tribes of the Nephilim were continual trouble for the Israelites. Listen to what the Lord will do.

The descendants of the Nephilim will be taken by the sons of Judah, the people Jesus just raised from the dead. These individuals with part angel DNA will be taken captive as a group to a very distant and remote place. The sons of Judah will repay them. This may sound strange until we once again remember what Enoch told us about the levels of heaven and the various places of punishment for fallen angels and evil humans. When we understand that perspective, we can then make sense of what Joel is prophesying. Remember, it doesn’t matter what we think about the Book of Enoch, it only matters what the prophets and teachers up through the first century knew and understood about the Book of Enoch. That is the context they are prophesying from. With that in mind, we can now understand what Joel is saying.

Joel now says to proclaim these things among the ethnos. Let the weak and gentle become warriors.

Now the Lord is going to separate the ethnos, not the “different race”.  The ethnos are the human nations; the “different race”, which were the descendants of the Nephilim, have already been judged and separated.

The Lord says to rise up and ascend, or arise from the dead and spring up. Now the rest of the elect will arise. Jesus told us this as well.

Matthew 24:29-31 (AMP)
29  Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
30  Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn and beat their breasts and lament in anguish, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory [in brilliancy and splendor].
31  And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect (His chosen ones) from the four winds, [even] from one end of the universe to the other.

Moses told us that he would bring people back from one tip of heaven to the other.

G1473

First, the heirs of Jacob who were mistreated by the descendants of the fallen angels will arise and bring the descendants of the fallen angels to a very far away place where they will be taken captive and repaid for their mistreatment of the sons of Jacob. Then the rest of the sons of Jacob who called on the name of the Lord will arise and be brought back from the ends of heaven and earth. At that point Jesus will judge the sheep and the goats.

Matthew 25:31-46 (AMP)
31  When the Son of Man comes in His glory (His majesty and splendor), and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.
32  All nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them [the people] from one another as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats;
33  And He will cause the sheep to stand at His right hand, but the goats at His left.
34  Then the King will say to those at His right hand, Come, you blessed of My Father [you favored of God and appointed to eternal salvation], inherit (receive as your own) the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35  For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you brought Me together with yourselves and welcomed and entertained and lodged Me,
36  I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me with help and ministering care, I was in prison and you came to see Me.
37  Then the just and upright will answer Him, Lord, when did we see You hungry and gave You food, or thirsty and gave You something to drink?
38  And when did we see You a stranger and welcomed and entertained You, or naked and clothed You?
39  And when did we see You sick or in prison and came to visit You?
40  And the King will reply to them, Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least [in the estimation of men] of these My brethren, you did it for Me.
41  Then He will say to those at His left hand, Begone from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels!
42  For I was hungry and you gave Me no food, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink,
43  I was a stranger and you did not welcome Me and entertain Me, I was naked and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not visit Me with help and ministering care.
44  Then they also [in their turn] will answer, Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?
45  And He will reply to them, Solemnly I declare to you, in so far as you failed to do it for the least [in the estimation of men] of these, you failed to do it for Me.
46  Then they will go away into eternal punishment, but those who are just and upright and in right standing with God into eternal life.

Let’s look at this a bit more closely.

Matthew 25:41 G5119 Then G2046 he will say G2532 also G3588 to the ones G1537 on G2176 his left, G4198 Go G575 from G1473 me! There will be people chastised for a cycle of time, an age. What age is this? The Millennial age.

From Luke 17 and Matthew 24 we have studied this in detail. In Matthew 24 Jesus is answering 3 questions from the disciples. Jesus tells us about those who will be received (taken) and those who will be sent away (left behind). Let’s look at part of this blog again.

People are received near as in association, or sent away to another place. Understand it like this: I will take you, I will leave you; I receive you, or I send you away. To be taken is good, it is to be received; to be left is bad it is to be divorced and abandoned. This is a comparison and contrast that did not translate well. Somehow we turned this section into the calling up of the saints, but it is instead the revealing of the Lord on the Day of the Lord when he returns with His bride. Jesus used a few more examples of receive and send away.

People will be going about their normal work and routines, just like in the days of Noah; eating, drinking, marrying, and working. One person will be received at the revealing, the Apocalypse; and someone doing the same job will be sent away. This is a misunderstood idea that this is the rapture, the one “left behind” is not left on earth but is sent away. Where are the Jesus rejecters sent to at the end of the tribulation? Hades, for one thousand years. The received people are part of His kingdom on the earth.

The disciples ask this very question. Again we see another reason to look at each word as this is similar to the section in Matthew, but here we see that Jesus answers the disciples question as to the living. Where will they go?

The eagles are collecting the living beings, those still alive at the Apocalypse. The eagles will gather them into an assembly. Sunago is the word we use for “synagogue”. It is a group meeting or congregation. Those who do not turn back, like Lot’s wife, do not return to their house or gather their things, but instead believe on Jesus as Lord and Christ at the end of the tribulation will be alive for the kingdom. As Jesus said, the kingdom does not come with a warning, but it will be like lightning, fast and furious; and everyone will see His Apocalypse.

We understand that the idea of someone being received into the kingdom is good, and someone sent away for an age is bad. Daniel gives us some greater insight.

Daniel 12:1-4 (AMP)
1  AND AT that time [of the end] Michael shall arise, the great [angelic] prince who defends and has charge of your [Daniel's] people. And there shall be a time of trouble, straitness, and distress such as never was since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the Book [of God's plan for His own].
2  And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake: some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt and abhorrence.
3  And the teachers and those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness (to uprightness and right standing with God) [shall give forth light] like the stars forever and ever.
4  But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the Book until the time of the end. [Then] many shall run to and fro and search anxiously [through the Book], and knowledge [of God's purposes as revealed by His prophets] shall be increased and become great.

The angel tells Daniel that his people will be delivered. Of Daniel’s people,
the descendants of Jacob, they will populate Israel under Jesus’ Kingship. While that is a happy thought, we have to go back to Joel and look at the valley of punishment.

δίκη
dikē dee'-kay Probably from G1166; right (as self evident), that is, justice (the principle, a decision, or its execution) KJV Usage: judgment, punish, vengeance.

Sounds and rumors and uncertain noises resound and echo in the valley of judicial hearing. Sometimes this is translated as the valley of decision, but this is more closely related to justice. This is a valley so it is quite reasonable for there to be an echo of sounds. This is the separating of the sheep and the goats. The children of wrath and the heirs of Jacob who rejected Jesus will now all stand in front of Him. The saints who were harpazo’d were part of the battle of Megiddo, they are not judged here, they already received their rewards. This judgment is for those who will enter the Millennial Kingdom or those who will spend one thousand years in hades.

People won’t be able to miss him. They may not have believed on him before, but now they will know that he is Kurios Theos/Yahweh Elohim, the I AM. This is the mega epiphany, the day that the Lord is revealed. From this time onward through the Millennial age, Judah will exist.

Jesus will make inquisition for the blood of the heirs of Jacob and will avenge their blood. To “require” is intensive questioning and investigating, like the Spanish Inquisition. This inquisition will be based on works, and who shed the blood of the sons of Jacob. We talk about the sons, heirs, or descendants of Jacob as if we are only speaking of lineage and genetic relation. It may be that the sons of Jacob are those who call on the Lord and keep the commands of Yahweh, to the best of their ability, as spiritual sons of Jacob. We are spiritual sons of Abraham, so it is reasonable to understand this may be spiritual sons, not simply birthright sons. As Jesus told us regarding the kingdom, tax collectors and harlots will enter in before the priests and elders. Why? Because the tax collectors believed on John’s message, and on Jesus. The religious leaders and those who rejected Jesus will enter into the kingdom after the Christians.

There are some religious groups that get giddy and excited about the Day of the Lord. This is not an appropriate response.

Amos 5:18 Woe to you that desire the day of the Lord! what is this day of the Lord to you? whereas it is darkness, and not light. 19 As if a man should flee from the face of a lion, and a bear should meet him; and he should spring into his house, and lean his hands upon the wall, and a serpent should bite him. 20 Is not the day of the Lord darkness, and not light? and is not this day gloom without brightness?

It is a sad and scary day for humanity; and while the saints have nothing to fear, it should still concern us as to how brutal of a day this will be. Malachi tells us a few things regarding this day.

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I send forth my messenger, and he shall survey the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come into his temple, even the angel of the covenant, whom ye take pleasure in: behold, he is coming, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 And who will abide the day of his coming? or who will withstand at his appearing? for he is coming in as the fire of a furnace and as the herb of fullers. 3 He shall sit to melt and purify as it were silver, and as it were gold: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver, and they shall offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness.

The Angel of the Covenant will purify the Levites. We studied this in regards to the two witnesses. This person is Enoch, one of the two witnesses. Enoch and Elijah survey the way before the Day of the Lord. Enoch was the first priest of Yahweh.

Malachi 3:16 Thus spoke they that feared the Lord, every one to his neighbour: and the Lord gave heed, and hearkened, and he wrote a book of remembrance before him for them that feared the Lord and reverenced his name. 17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord Almighty, in the day which I appoint for a peculiar possession; and I will make choice of them, as a man makes choice of his son that serves him. 18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, and between him that serves God, and him that serves him not.

Malachi says that those who feared the Lord will return and discern between the righteous and the wicked.

Malachi 4:1 For, behold, a day comes burning as an oven, and it shall consume them; and all the aliens, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that is coming shall set them on fire, saith the Lord Almighty, and there shall not be left of them root or branch.

There won’t be much left of the wicked after the Day of the Lord.

Malachi 4:2 But to you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise, and healing shall be in his wings: and ye shall go forth, and bound as young calves let loose from bonds. 3 And ye shall trample the wicked; for they shall be ashes underneath your feet in the day which I appoint, saith the Lord Almighty. 5 And, behold, I will send to you Elias the Thesbite, before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes; 6 who shall turn again the heart of the father to the son, and the heart of a man to his neighbour, lest I come and smite the earth grievously.

We know that this is not speaking of John the Baptist as Elijah because the hearts of people have not turned towards each other. As we have studied, the two witnesses are Elijah and Enoch, the two men who still have their bodies; and when they come at the start of the tribulation we will see hearts turning.

Joel told us to repent and return to the Lord with our whole heart. This is the point of the entire tribulation period. Two thirds of the sons of Jacob will be martyred. One third will be left on the earth through to the end. As for the nations, people will start out killing one another and then regress to ultimately killing those who reject the double sword mark of the wild beast, leaving about one billion people on the earth.

On the Day of the Lord the armies of the wild beast will gather in Megiddo to make war with the Lamb. They are consumed by the Lamb and His armies. Then people are gathered to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. The first group from the sons of Jacob rise; they were those who were sold into slavery, brutalized, and push out of their land by the heirs of the fallen angels. Then the heirs of the fallen angels rise, the descendants of the Nephilim. They will be taken captive by the sons of Jacob who they took captive. Those sons of Jacob will take these descendants of the Nephilim to a very distant place and be in charge of their retribution. The rest of the sons of Jacob are gathered from the ends of heaven and earth. Then those who died in this battle at Megiddo as well as all the other people left on the earth will be separated like sheep and goats.

Israel will live in peace for one thousand years. Then we will come to the binding of Gog and the Magog war.
