Jesus declared a tribunal or divine judgment of the cosmos. What did he mean? Jesus came to earth to release us and pay a ransom because humans have been kidnapped by a hostile group of spiritual beings. Part of the Elohim’s manifold wisdom was that Jesus could redeem us. Satanas saw that Jesus came to earth and announced himself and that his fame caused some to believe. Satanas thought Jesus’ redemption plans were to do some miracles and make a lot of people talk about the Father and believe that he was the Messiah. Then Satanas would have Jesus murdered and attempt to erase the knowledge of Jesus to the end that this would only affect a small number of people. The manfaced living in other parts of the world would never get to hear about Jesus and this invasion into Satanas’ kingdom would be over until the end of the age.
However Jesus would not stay in death or hades because he was sinless. Therefore Jesus took the keys to death and hades, set the captives free, and delivered the righteous to Paradise. He then came back to earth to show himself to many thousands of disciples. Satanas’ plans to erase Jesus were thwarted. In fact even today when someone says the name/title Jesus Christ there are many unbelievers who lose their minds over his name and all the history that goes with it. If someone says the name Joe Smith or John Black no one cares, there is no emotional response. But the name/title Jesus Christ invokes such an emotional response that people start yelling about it. Yet about 71% of the people in the United States claim that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior. This tells us that the minority do a good job of silencing the majority.
Satanas is not omniscient or omnipotent. He did not know what was going to take place. He knew the prophecies that a Messiah would come, but he did not know much about what would take place afterward. He thought that he would have the last two thousand years to himself as ruler of the cosmos. Today we know what lies ahead because between Jesus coming to earth and the Holy Spirit recording the prophecies, we are told quite a bit for us to educate ourselves and others. Jesus finished the requirements of Messiah and rode a donkey in his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Satanas thought he was almost finished with Jesus, as Satanas already inspired the chief priests and religious leaders to hate Jesus to the point of wanting him exterminated.
The culmination of miracles Jesus did while on the earth was to raise someone from the dead. It wasn’t the first time Jesus raised someone from the dead it was just that the circumstances were well known. As with all miracles Jesus did, no one has ever come close to copying what he did on the earth. Jesus always over exceeded the requirements, not just opening one pair of blind eyes but at least ten. In John 12 the miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead was such a big deal that even some of the the Pharisees believed Jesus was the Messiah. This is why we see the “believing Pharisees” in the book of Acts roaming the region with their opinions. Raising someone from the dead that has only been dead a few minutes is one thing, but raising someone from the dead who was dead for four days, wrapped in grave clothes, embalmed, and put into a closed tomb, is another. This is superseding the requirement. But think about this, Satanas could not stop Jesus or his miracles. Jesus invaded Satanas’ kingdom. A divine judgment has taken place. Let’ s get a running start with the context of John 12.
John 12:9 (AMP) Now a great crowd of the Jews heard that He was at Bethany, and they came there, not only because of Jesus but that they also might see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
10 So the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death also,
11 Because on account of him many of the Jews were going away [were withdrawing from and leaving the Judeans] and believing in and adhering to Jesus.
12 The next day a vast crowd of those who had come to the Passover Feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.
Without television and social media the word spread so that crowds grew to see Jesus and Lazarus. Imagine hearing your whole life that the Messiah was scheduled to come and then finding that the Messiah is here. We would all go out to see him and no one could stop us. Even if we hadn’t made up our mind about Jesus being Messiah, we would want a chance to see him ourselves. Yet it wasn’t just Jesus they wanted to see, they wanted to see the guy who was raised from the dead too.
Naturally the chief priests hated Jesus and the miracles he did and they couldn’t deny that those things happened while Jesus and Lazarus were still alive, so they schemed to kill Lazarus so that he would not be a glaring witness of Jesus the Messiah. They did not kill Lazarus, and in the end Lazarus was a witness to what death and hades were like.
John 12:13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him. And as they went, they kept shouting, Hosanna! Blessed is He and praise to Him Who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel! [Ps. 118:26.]
14 And Jesus, having found a young donkey, rode upon it, [just] as it is written in the Scriptures,
15 Do not fear, O Daughter of Zion! Look! Your King is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt! [Zech. 9:9.]
The people who believed that Jesus was the Messiah honored him as such. They were also hoping Jesus would take over the government, oust the Romans, and give Israel back to the Jews to rule and reign. They knew that the Messiah would do this but they had their timing wrong. Jesus’ disciples didn’t understand everything until he died and rose up, even though Jesus was trying to tell them that he would be leaving and coming back at a later time.
John 12:16 His disciples did not understand and could not comprehend the meaning of these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified and exalted, they remembered that these things had been written about Him and had been done to Him.
17 The group that had been with Jesus when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from among the dead kept telling it [bearing witness] to others.
18 It was for this reason that the crowd went out to meet Him, because they had heard that He had performed this sign (proof, miracle).
19 Then the Pharisees said among themselves, You see how futile your efforts are and how you accomplish nothing. See! The whole world is running after Him!
20 Now among those who went up to worship at the Feast were some Greeks.
21 These came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and they made this request, Sir, we desire to see Jesus.
There were many Greek Jews living in the region, Paul and his family were Greek speaking Jews. The Assideans spoke Greek, as well as the Essenes. The language of Israel at this time was Aramaic. The people spoke Aramaic but wrote in Greek. However the people in the outlying areas spoke Greek and Latin. What did they want to know? They wanted to know something important.
John 12:22 Philip came and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip together [went] and told Jesus.
23 And Jesus answered them, The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified and exalted.
24 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains [just one grain; it never becomes more but lives] by itself alone. But if it dies, it produces many others and yields a rich harvest.
Jesus tries to tell his disciples that he is going to die but that when he does the word will spread about him. This is exactly what happened. We all have experienced the vitriol when the name of Jesus is mentioned. Satanas has succeeded in making Jesus a fearful name to the minority of people who reject Jesus as the Messiah, but Satanas has not succeeded in erasing his name.
While Satanas is the god of this world, aka the prince of the world, he is not all knowing and does not have foreknowledge. Neither do his fallen principalities and powers. He cannot “see” what will happen in the future. Jesus said that if he is cut down he will produce more of an effect then if he remains standing. What did Jesus mean by that? Two thousand years later we can understand what he meant.
John 12:25 Anyone who loves his life loses it, but anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. [Whoever has no love for, no concern for, no regard for his life here on earth, but despises it, preserves his life forever and ever.]
26 If anyone serves Me, he must continue to follow Me [to cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying] and wherever I am, there will My servant be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
Jesus tells his disciples and the Greek speaking Jews that in order to gain eternal life they must not love their earthly life but hate it. He says that if anyone serves him they must continue to serve him and the Father will honor him. This is the opposite of what Satanas tells people. Satanas tells people to love their lives and to climb over one another to attain more of the things they lust after and gain riches.
Jesus knew he was going to die; the disciples weren’t sure what would happen. Yet Jesus told them to just keep on serving him, even after he is dead. This is what we do now, we serve him. Even though he is not on the earth in human form, he lives within us if we believe on him. Remember the manifold wisdom of the Elohim was to make each believer the temple and to dwell in the believers. Jesus’ invasion is almost complete.
John 12:27 Now My soul is troubled and distressed, and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour [of trial and agony]? But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour [that I might undergo it].
28 [Rather, I will say,] Father, glorify (honor and extol) Your [own] name! Then there came a voice out of heaven saying, I have already glorified it, and I will glorify it again.
Jesus is distressed, he is going to be tortured and murdered but he says that it is for this purpose he came, so he is not going to ask the Father for a way out. Jesus says instead he will ask the Father to glorify His own name. This is a courageous thing to do, but while Jesus is saying this to the Greek Jews and the disciples, a voice speaks out of heaven. This “voice from heaven” thing has happened a few times, but here it seems like a necessary confirmation for the disciples and the Greek speaking Jews.
This gives us a clue as to what Jesus was being asked. The Greek speaking Jews were probably asking if there was another way, if Jesus had to die, or if there was some other option. Think about it, the miracle of raising Lazarus was so phenomenal that people came out to celebrate Jesus. Why stop that kind of publicity now? Why not stay a while longer. The voice from heaven solidified the timing and the mission. Jesus invaded earth, but now he had to invade death and hades. Satanas doesn’t know this. Satanas thinks he will silence Jesus forever and make Jesus’ life and miracles just a fairy tale or rumor.
John 12:29 The crowd of bystanders heard the sound and said that it had thundered; others said, An angel has spoken to Him!
30 Jesus answered, This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sake.
The people who could hear it did hear it. Jesus told them that it was for them, the ones who could hear. There are things that are not for the unbelievers to hear, and those secrets and mysteries only sound like thunder to them, but to the believers the message is very clear.
Jesus says judgment of the world has come.
John 12:31 Now the judgment (crisis) of this world is coming on [sentence is now being passed on this world]. Now the ruler (evil genius, prince) of this world shall be cast out (expelled).
Let’s take this sentence apart.
John 12:31 G3568 Now G2920 is judgment G1510.2.3 G3588 G2889 of this world; G3778 G3568 now G3588 the G758 ruler G3588 G2889 of this world G3778 G1544 shall be cast G1854 outside;
“Now a tribunal is the cosmos this now the archōn (chief ruler) the cosmos this ekballō (throw out) exō outside”.
Let’s see if there are any missing or obscure words.

“Now tribunal his the cosmos of now the archōn the cosmos of thrown out outside.
There are three word variations in this sentence. The word “is” in the AP might be “his” as per the LXX-WH. There is also two usages of the word “this” in the AP that may be the word “of” as per the LXX-WH. Now His tribunal of the cosmos. In context we are speaking of the voice from heaven. “Now His tribunal of the cosmos, now the ruler of the cosmos thrown out.” Jesus is saying that with his crucifixion comes the Father’s judgment of the cosmos and the god of the cosmos’s sentence is to be thrown out, outside. Satanas is not just going to be thrown out of the upper heaven as he already had been, but he is also going to be thrown out of the cosmos that he rules as well.
The word for judgment here is krisis, “a separating”. In this case it is separating the cosmos from the ruler of the cosmos.

κρίσις
krisis kree'-sis (Subjectively or objectively, for or against); by extension a tribunal; by implication justice (specifically divine law) KJV Usage: accusation, condemnation, damnation, judgment.
It is interesting to notice that the translators of the Amplified Bible use the word “crisis” in parentheses when crisis is not the definition of krisis. Krisis means “a tribunal” or “sentence”, a “separating”, it is the divine law. Certainly that judgment is a crisis to Satanas, but the judgment is not a crisis for us.
We are living in the world that Satanas has already been judged in. Satanas is simply serving his term on the earth as ruler which he stole from the adam and then his sentence will begin. He will spend nearly one thousand years in the bottomless pit, only to be let out for a short time. Then after that time he will be devoured by fire that comes out of heaven, Revelation 20. This had not been prophesied until John. Jesus said that he would be thrown out, this means that there is no redemption for Satanas.
Now let’s look at the word for cosmos. In the Bible there are several words translated “world” but not all are the word kosmos. There is a “law of first usage” in Bible research, meaning where a word has been used for the first time is significant to its understanding.
Genesis 2:1 G2532 And G4931 [6were completed G3588 1the G3772 2heaven G2532 3and G3588 4the G1093 5earth], G2532 and G3956 all G3588 the G2889 cosmos G1473 of them.
The earth became formless, void, and dark all over. Then Yahweh Elohim created all that was needed for the adam to be created and to live. This is what the cosmos entails, everything created on the first six days of creation. At the time of creation there was a firmament or a foundation surrounding the earth, parting waters underneath the foundation and above the foundation. Also a foundation above the earth called the heaven. Plants were created, luminaries were created, as well as the sun and moon. There are creatures made for the sea and the land as well. Then manfaced was made in the image and likeness of the Elohim. This is what the cosmos encompasses. The adam was in charge of it all and then authority was relinquished to Satanas.
Now that Satanas is known as the prince of this world or the god of this world we can see what he is in charge of within some limiting parameters. One of which is that he cannot exterminate us all. Satanas wanted to be a judge in order to judge the sons of the Elohim, and to put his own throne in the sides of the north on the mount of the congregation. He is only allowed to judge and invoke punishment, not exterminate everyone he doesn’t like. This tells us that his authority is limited. This is why living a holy life is important, so that there is no point of accusation. Living holy is not bondage, it is freedom. Isn’t Satanas still accusing us before the Elohim day and night? Revelation 12:10. Dracon and Satanas both mislead the inhabitable world, oikeō, dwelling, Revelation 12:9. The purpose of their misleading is for Satanas to judge and punish us. Sounds like entrapment. Mislead humans who do not have the knowledge of the spiritual world we live in, cause us to sin, judge us, then pronounce punishment. Entrapment.
Coming back to the tribunal of the cosmos, has anyone heard of this judgment? Has anyone read about Satanas’ sentencing? If manfaced had heard about this tribunal would manfaced want to follow Satanas? Who does that? Only the ignorant. Why would other sons of the Elohim listen to Satanas? His divine judgment has been made known. Satanas has no creative ability, no supernatural power, and no authority over the cosmos. He has limitations as to what he can do. He cannot exterminate or vaporize all the Christians. He can attack Christians when Christians sin. He will then exploit them to harm the entire body of Christ. But he won’t attack his own who have sin. Instead he uses the unbeliever to influence the Christians. Now if manfaced had been told this one simple truth, that Satanas has already been judged and his punishment is already declared, would manfaced be foolish enough to follow after him? No.
Now is the Father’s tribunal of the world. This is all due to the angels who sinned. Because they polluted our genetics, they polluted the earth, they polluted the animals, the Father passed a divine judgment. This judgment includes Jesus being our sacrifice for our sins. We are burdened with sins due to our own ignorance, because if we had known we are watched and recorded we would not sin. If we had known that angels sinned we would be aware of Satanas and his fallen armies who have tried to destroy us.
As Satanas influences the chief priests and elders to murder Jesus, and Jesus is willing to be murdered, at this very time the sentence of the cosmos is passed, and now the ruler of the cosmos will be thrown out, outside. This is the sentence, the divine judgment.
John 12:32 And I, if and when I am lifted up from the earth [on the cross], will draw and attract all men [Gentiles as well as Jews] to Myself.
33 He said this to signify in what manner He would die.
This happened. Once Jesus died all men would come to know who he is, and what his history is. All the earth is told of how Jesus the sinless lamb was willing to die, shedding his own blood for us to be redeemed by his ransom. It is not just a story or fairytale, it was witnessed by many thousands of people who then laid down their own lives to spread the good news.
John 12:34 At this the people answered Him, We have learned from the Law that the Christ is to remain forever; how then can You say, The Son of Man must be lifted up [on the cross]? Who is this Son of Man? [Ps. 110:4.]
35 So Jesus said to them, You will have the Light only a little while longer. Walk while you have the Light [keep on living by it], so that darkness may not overtake and overcome you. He who walks about in the dark does not know where he goes [he is drifting].
36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light [have faith in it, hold to it, rely on it], that you may become sons of the Light and be filled with Light. Jesus said these things, and then He went away and hid Himself from them [was lost to their view].
The Amplified Bible (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1987), Jn 12:9–36.
The people were confused because they did not understand why he wasn’t going to live forever on the earth. Jesus was not just sent to the living at that time, he was sent to the believers of all time. He had to rescue the dead who were righteous as well. David prophesied that Yahweh wouldn’t leave his soul in the grave. Jesus didn’t tell them this part of the plan. He only told them to believe in the light so that they may become sons of light and be filled with light. John said something similar in his first chapter. He says that Jesus was the light of men and that light shines in the darkness. And he said that Jesus came so that men would believe in the true light coming into the cosmos. Those who believe become the children of the Elohim.
John 1:1IN THE beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. [Isa. 9:6.]
2 He was present originally with God.
3 All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being.
4 In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men.
5 And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it].
6 There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. [Mal. 3:1.]
7 This man came to witness, that he might testify of the Light, that all men might believe in it [adhere to it, trust it, and rely upon it] through him.
8 He was not the Light himself, but came that he might bear witness regarding the Light.
9 There it was—the true Light [was then] coming into the world [the genuine, perfect, steadfast Light] that illumines every person. [Isa. 49:6.]
10 He came into the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him [did not know Him].
11 He came to that which belonged to Him [to His own—His domain, creation, things, world], and they who were His own did not receive Him and did not welcome Him.
12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name—[Isa. 56:5.]
13 Who owe their birth neither to bloods nor to the will of the flesh [that of physical impulse] nor to the will of man [that of a natural father], but to God. [They are born of God!]
14 And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth. [Isa. 40:5.]
The Amplified Bible (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1987), Jn 1:1–14.
Satanas and Dracōn could see Jesus everywhere he went because he was the light shining in the darkness. The manifold wisdom of the Elohim is that now we are the sons and daughters of light and we shine everywhere we go because of the Christ in us. Verse 9 tells us that the cosmos must have been dark before Jesus came. It is not dark now because we are here. This brings us back to Jesus telling the people to believe in the light so that they could become sons of light and be filled with light.
One aspect of the tribunal of the cosmos is that the light has come to everyone, not just to Israel but to whoever receives Jesus as Lord and Messiah, believing that he rose up on the third day. The light stays on the earth until Jesus calls his saints up. Then Satanas has a time where there will not be 2.5 billion lights in the world, there will only be two witnesses and their 144,000 disciples.
Jesus explains that when the Holy Spirit comes the Holy Spirit will convict or reprove the cosmos of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Not just the manfaced inhabitants, but the entire cosmos.
John 16:7 However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you].
8 And when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God) and about judgment:
9 About sin, because they do not believe in Me [trust in, rely on, and adhere to Me];
10 About righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God), because I go to My Father, and you will see Me no longer;
11 About judgment, because the ruler (evil genius, prince) of this world [Satan] is judged and condemned and sentence already is passed upon him.
The Amplified Bible (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1987), Jn 16:7–11.
The Holy Spirit reproves the cosmos of sin. Who is in the cosmos besides us? The elements. The animals. The sons of the Elohim. The fallen sons of the Elohim are convicted or put to shame. The word translated convict or reprove is the word elegchō, which means “to disgrace, put to shame, rebuke, or expose”. The fallen sons of the Elohim, Satanas’ principalities and powers, are put to shame, exposed, confuted, or proven wrong. It is more than just passing judgment. When the Holy Spirit comes it is a humiliation to the angels who sinned. Pentecost changed everything. Now we are are the temple, housing the Holy Spirit. We spread out worldwide and shine like light in the darkness. This is also the manifold wisdom of the Elohim, 2.5 billion temples worldwide and many billions more in Paradise awaiting Jesus’ call. The cosmos is humiliated.
The Holy Spirit judges Jesus’ righteousness because Jesus goes to the Father. It is possible that because Satanas and the fallen angels didn’t know Jesus was going to overtake the keys to death and hades, they thought he would be in the grave with the other righteous saints. They might have thought that his righteousness would not supersede the righteousness of manfaced. But by the coming of the Holy Spirit to indwell the saints, it shows Jesus’ righteousness as being with the father. And then concerning krisis, judgment, the ruler archōn of this cosmos has been krinō, condemned, sentenced, decided judicially. There is no court of appeals in the heavens. When the Father judges it is final.
Satanas thought he could erase the light when he had Jesus crucified. He couldn’t. Jesus invaded the earth with light, then invaded death and hades. Billions of temples filed with the light of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit occupy the earth today. As Jesus said, if you kill one stalk of wheat, much more wheat will sprout. We should recognize that Satanas and his fallen army are humiliated, put to shame. Jesus’ blood not only paid our ransom, it pronounced a fatal judgment against the fallen sons of the Elohim. The overall judgment is that Satanas will be thrown out, outside. However the judgment of the cosmos is that we humans will do the sentencing of the cosmos and the fallen angels, 1 Corinthians 6. This is to their humiliation. The ones they were supposed to watch and record are the ones who krinō, condemn them. They thought of manfaced as stupid, which is true. We never knew anything about a spiritual life, they hid the truth from us. Now the manifold wisdom is made known to all the principalities and powers through us, the church. We are the announcement of their shame.
Ephesians 3:10 [The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.
The Amplified Bible (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1987), Eph 3:10.
